Now Japan faces a much more fundamental threat to its future—demographic decline that experts say will delete 70 percent of its workforce by 2050.
Yet the all-hands-on-deck response that quelled the oil shock is conspicuously missing from Japan’s policies for a disappearing population.
“Unfortunately, the people do not share a sense of crisis,” said Masakazu Toyoda, a vice minister at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. “Yes, we deserve some kind of criticism.”
Inside the government, there is growing agreement that Japan can head off disastrous population decline by significantly increasing immigration.
Japan has the world’s highest proportion of people older than 65 and the world’s smallest proportion of children younger than 15. Without immigration in substantial numbers, it will soon run perilously low on people of working age.
Yet among highly developed countries, Japan has always ranked near the bottom in the percentage of foreign-born residents. In the United States, about 12 percent are foreign-born; in Japan, just 1.6 percent. Most immigrants here are from Asia or South America. The largest number come from Korea (about 600,000 people), followed by China and Brazil. The Brazilians are mostly of mixed Japanese descent.
Yet there is little or no political will here to persuade or prepare the public to accept a sizable influx of foreigners.
{snip}
There is another way for Japan to slow population decline and maintain its workforce: persuade more Japanese women to marry, have children and remain on the job.
Japan is failing badly in this area. The percentage of women who choose to stay single has doubled in the past two decades. When they do marry and have children, they drop out of the workforce at far higher rates than in other wealthy countries.
These worrying numbers have been bouncing around inside government ministries for several years. But the policy response—in a government dominated by men in their 50s, 60s and 70s—has often been tentative and sometimes insulting to women.
A health minister last year described women of childbearing age as “birth-giving machines” and instructed them to do “their best per head” to produce babies.
In recent months, however, the government’s tone has changed substantially, as powerful politicians and business leaders have begun to call for enlightened government intervention that would ease the cost and complications of raising children.
{snip}
Still, Fukuda’s government is not proposing a major new increase in spending on national child care, in part because it does not have the money.
Japan struggles to pay the pension and health-care costs of the world’s oldest population. It also has a debt burden that amounts to 180 percent of its gross domestic product, which is the highest ever recorded by a developed country.

Tales of the Tokyo Subway System
While riding on the Tokyo subway a friend took out her camera
and began cleaning it and arranging her gear. She inadvertantly left a 800mm Nikon lens on the seat when she got up. Realizing what she did she ran to the station police and told to please
stop the train. They looked at her quizzically..and said
dont worry the train makes a big loop and will be back here in one hour. An hour later the same train pulled into the station, the doors opened and there was her lens on the seat. No one had even thought about stealing, it was just something Japanese dont do to each other.

I have every confidence that the Japanese will act sensibly in this matter. They are probably the last desirable country to stand firm in the common sense of their ancestors. (a common sense which, as we all too painfully know, is now mislabled “Hate”.)
Characteristic of them, they will swiftly find remedies to any problem or deficiency that crops up, and not fall prey to fashionable sociological fads.
They are also quietly sensible enough to take the tea-leaf readings of “Demographers” with a grain of salt.

Don’t EVER take in immigrants Japan! Give incentives and money for your own to have babies, don’t end up paying for someone elses babies like America and Europe is doing!

“Now Japan faces a much more fundamental threat to its future—demographic decline that experts say will delete 70 percent of its workforce by 2050.”
But if this is what the future holds for Japan, then they can import the selected workers at that time, as opposed to most other “highly developed countries” (read that as, the white ones) who will have them outnumbering their current majorities by that time if “immigration” is not halted. Moreover, should the population trends reverse there will not be overpopulation in Japan, only a return to demographic stability sans the “strengths” of diversity or the need for desperate expulsion of it.
Japan is seen as an eyesore in the West and Third World “elite” ranks, simply because it remains a orderly and stable (demographics aside) Japan full of Japanese and not Pakistanis or Somalis. It is a testament to homogeneity and civilization being more correlated than “diversity” and national “enrichment.” If the white countries of the earth have anything to learn from the nonwhite world, it is from Japan and not Mexico or Trinidad; population decline can be internally reversed or managed more tranquilly, then can artificially created alien population “booms.”
Indeed, Japan has a problem regarding its workforce versus the growing elderly population, it just doesn’t seem to be willing to exacerbate that problem with a quick “fix” that adds greater social problems to the existing one.
For that, as Jared Taylor might say, I say God bless them!

“Japanese resisting ‘advice’ to open their country to foreigners.”
Those pushy advisors who are promoting this internationalism
will keep pushing and pushing until they get their way. It took them nearly half a century (40 years) until they got it here and thus began the decomposition of the USA. They worked long and hard and they don’t give up. They will keep at it ‘til they wear you down. Japan would be wise to look at the cautionary example of the USA (and of Canada). Let the Japanese make their OWN desicions and avoid our mistaks of accepting “advice”.

Japan better be very careful. They should try to find Japanese who are living in parts of Asia that were once part of their Empire.

An over-abundance of senior citizens is a temporary problem lasting for 30-40 years at most, (don’t mean to sound crass but that’s the truth). Demographic changes through ethnic immigration is forever.

This is actually good for Japan. It is not commonly known that a lot of their domestic industry is saturated with “make work” jobs. A 10 kg sack of rice can go through 2 or 3 extra (unnecessary) layers of wholesalers (some as small as an American garage) before it gets to a household. Banks have too many tellers because some jobs are done manually that could be automated. So, Japan, as long as it can export manufactured goods, could withstand a smaller population better than any other country. The only problem is too many old people, but it beats having too many immigrants.

Japan has got to remain homogenous and keep making those Robots to remain a symbol of racial and spiritual unification for future generations to learn from.
At this point America has got to rise to the occasion and support our Constitution without being appeased by the ruling class and corporate insiders posing as presidential material.

I wonder how many Japanese read Amren and I wonder how many talks Jared Taylor has given in Japan or in Japanese. The time to enlighten people to the dangers of massive immigration is not after it’s already happened; it is to be done BEFORE it’s happened. There is still hope for Japan if they heed our message. Unfortunately it is all too easy for people in homogeneous societies to swallow the MSM version of diversity (because they are not exposed to the real thing). By the time people notice what they’ve lost, it’s LOST. Remember the song, “you don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone”?

I’m sure the Japanese will do the right thing and maintain their racial integrity. Quality, not quantity is what I say. It’s nice to goto a country and see the indigenous people who belong there and not some 3rd worlders. If the Japanese maintain their racial make-up, no one will say anything. If a Caucasian country vocalized their intention to keep a country white, they would be called racist. When will people realize diversity for diversity’s sake is a failure.

Once the Japanese version of the “baby boomers” start to die off they will be left with a population that is really quite stable. It is the “baby boomer” demographics which have skewed the statistics.
A Japan with 50 million less people will just mean a country with more space for everyone to live. I can imagine a baby boom itself may start with the extra room that is created. People need space to have children; the more crowded it is the less children people have; this seems to be a universal rule no matter what racial group you belong to but Whites are in a situation where their numbers are just too large for the limited area they occupy.
Of course none of this will happen if the already overcrowded Japan imports masses of people to replace their own dying population. If the demographers are correct, the end result would be just as crowded but the population would be 50% or more non-Japanese, a situation I’m sure the Japanese are well aware of.
If you need an example take South Africa. The small number of Zulu workers that were brought in to do the hard manual labour ended up having a population explosion. While the South African whites had managed to keep their population stable at 2.1 children per female the average Zulu mother was popping out 8.5 children. The result was that the white population stayed the same while the Zulu population quadrupled within a single generation. One hundred years down the track the Zulu outnumbered the whites 10:1. The whites tried to keep control of the country by becoming a totalitarian society, which is what we would expect if a minority was in power, then Democracy came to all the people in South Africa and the Zulus became the new overlords. Without the intellectual ability to run the country properly, the country that was once the richest in the world is now the most dangerous to live in.
Now replace “white” with “Japanese” and “Zulu” with “non-Japanese” and you will see the exact same process that Japan would go through. The West will see this exact same process too due to our foolish and shortsighted immigration policies.

There are already quite a few immigrants in Japan. Asians. There are many Chinese and Filipinos there, and there have been Koreans there for a long time. The Chinese do cause problems, but it’s because they are illegals that were brought in by Snakehead gangs who want like $30,000 to smuggle them in, then hit them up for it all the time and pound their wages. So the Chinese turn to crime and even violent crime to scrounge up the money.
I don’t see why it’s the end of the world for Japan to take in some Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese, or Hell even Filipinos if they are short of workers. If they are legal immigrants, they will cause few problems. The Japs don’t have to make them citizens if they don’t want to. Japanese society is so anti-foreigner that almost all Asian immigrants go nuts doing somersaults trying to ultra-assimilate once they get in anyway. There are even a few Blacks in Japan (I know of one) but they were chosen very, very carefully. Letting in hordes of poorly screened Blacks, Muslims, Pacific Islanders or Hispanics seems like a recipe for disaster. No sane person Japanese wants a US-style teeming Black or Hispanic Underclass seething in their cities. It’s not even a Right or Left question over there. It’s like a sanity test.

If there are any Japanese people reading this post, from the bottom of my heart I beg you to NEVER but NEVER contemplate the mass immigration of incompatible and racially distinct aliens (perhaps the limited immigration of fellow Mongolians should be countenanced).
Ignore, ignore and ignore all the calls and blandishments from so-called ‘experts’ at the WSJ and ‘The Economist’ for example - these people have a very dire track-record of getting everything back-to-front.
Just look at the incalculable and irreversible destruction massive uncontrolled immigration has wrought in England from 1950 to present.
Remember in 1950 England was much stronger industrially and economically than Japan was.

Whereas in America, it is greed, lust, and betrayal. Of course, if we could ever see beyond our own self-adoration, we just might recognize it.
How can we ever expect other countries to like us when we don’t like ourselves?

I would counsel against even that. Nearly every demographic invasion begins with a trickle. Once the foot is in the door, there is no reversing the trend and the trickle becomes a flood.
Seen from the American Indians’ point of view, Columbus and his crew were just a few strange-looking foreigners. Not very many at all. The Europeans were few and the Indians were numberous. No problem. But the whites brought along with them fascinating trinkets and offered cultural “enrichments” that would “enhance” the Indians’ drab mono-cultural lifestyle.
And when Cortez and his Spaniards landed in Mexico, the Aztecs instead of resisting them should have appreciated that diversity would give the their society more strength. After all, didn’t they know that everyone benefits from diversity?
And those pathetic Pilgrims landing on Massachusetts’ shore were just a few bedraggled, half-starved refugees. What harm could they possibly do? But they would be an interesting ethnic minority in the neighborhood. And they brought with them foreign foods, exotic customs, and offered a multicultural pluralism that would enrich the Indians’ lives and make them more “vibrant”.
Sure they did!

I think you will find that the majority of those are children of Japanese couples who left Japan after WW2. A great many of them went to Brazil and Korea due to a lack of extradition treaties. There is also the fact that part of the Japanese Empire is now controlled by China, so while the immigrants are ethnically Japanese they are still “foreign-born”.

In 1492, Columbus and his crew were not numerous either, but they were “a beginning.”
In 1948, the first Jamaicans arriving in Britain aboard the “Windrush” were not numerous, but they were a beginning. And so on. Every invasion has a beginning.

Japan is a very ethnocentric nation (just like its North Asian neighbours Korea and China) and having lived there you never
forget that you are a foreigner as the Japanese always,
subtly or overtly, remind you of that.
Actually there was an influx of workers into Japan in the early 90s due to the labor shortage although the weaker economy has
possibly stalled any further increases from neighboring Asian countries. One notes significant prescence of South Americans of Japanese descent. This is indeed very proof of this aforementioned ethnocentrism as Japanese believe if they have to work and live with foreigners, at least those of Japanese descent will be easier to deal with and possibly better to integrate in the future than those of other races, even other Asian nations.
Japanese are also very conscious of America and its problems
with blacks and Hispanics although I feel that the younger
more Westernized generation is coming under the all pervasive
sway of neo Marxist political correctness.
I live in another `multicultural society` Australia and
always point out to visiting Japanese the contrasts
of a mono cultural vs multicultural nation
Interestingly despite their curiosity about this and many
other matters I have yet to witness any Japanese proclaiming a need or desire for Japan to take in large amounts of
non Japanese.I can see that in the interests of perserving their unique culture they see a population decrease as inevitable and if that leads to inevitable extinction then so be it!
That last comment may be hard to swallow but that is how they
appear to accept the future state of things.

The reason that third world immigrants do not prefer to come to Japan are very obvious.
1. Japan is overcrowded. more than twice the South Korean population
2. Many third world immigrants have at least moderate knowledge of the English language
3. The social welfare system is not as generous as it is in Northern Europe and North America. (only if the Northern European countries become more strict and less generous with their social welfare systems, they will suddenly decrease the influx of third world immigrants)
4. The cost of living is very high in Japan. There are two reasons that apartments in Japan are very tiny, and they built it so that the suites can be easily served for different purposes. Visit any restaurant in Japan, make your order, and prepare to be disappointed with the amount.

I’m reminded of foolish Britain in 1948 and the arrival of the Empire Windrush. Did the British realize what a fateful year that was for them? In a way it was more decisive then 1066. They were forever ending their monoracial island, its social peace and cultural harmony and racial homogeneity which had existed for millenias, gone forever. Did the British even begin to understand what they were doing and what the consequences would be? Once you change a society’s racial makeup there is no going back.

The Japanese must be knuckle dragging Neanderthals for not desiring millions of uneducated, unskilled and crime prone third world immigrants. I mean, isn’t this 2008 or 1845? The Japanese obviously aren’t advanced enough to realize what their missing.
Race riots, political and social instability, dysfunctional and failing schools, and rampant violent crime and against the dominant racial/ethnic group are only some of the benefits that mass third world immigration and racial diversity can bring. Perhaps the ADL and SPLC would be willing to conduct cultural sensitivity brainwashing sessions to help transform Japan from a orderly and prosperous nation to one marked by interracial strife, bankruptcy and irrelevency.

The Japanese are smart enough to avoid the destruction of their society and culture for short term, greedy gains. I admire them for that.
BTW, I’ve been watching the History Channel documentary on the fall of the Roman Empire. There are many parallels between the fall of the Roman Empire and the fall of America.
Wikipedia nicely encapsulates part of the story in a piece about English historian Edward Gibbon:
“According to Gibbon, the Roman Empire succumbed to barbarian invasions because of a loss of civic virtue among its citizens. They had become weak, outsourcing their duties to defend their Empire to barbarian mercenaries, who then became so numerous and ingrained that they were able to take over the Empire. Romans, he believed, had become effeminate, unwilling to live a tougher, ‘manly’ military lifestyle. In addition, Gibbon argued that Christianity created a belief that a better life existed after death, which fostered an indifference to the present among Roman citizens, thus sapping their desire to sacrifice for the Empire. He also believed its comparative pacifism tended to hamper the traditional Roman martial spirit.”
I pity my friends who have children. History is now repeating. America has been conquored by the third-world…by the invitation of our government and the egalitarians.

………………………………………….
Indeed it was! How very true. 1066 did not replace the English population; it only overturned the ruling establishment and imposed a new ruling class in place of the old. The English people were left in place and the Normans were relatively few in number. Only English politics changed, not English demography.
However, the arrival of Third World immigration — eventually to number in the millions — was an entirely different thing. It would mean the extinction and replacement of the English nation, something the Normans never contemplated or even imagined.

Look no further than the messes in America (legal and illegal immigrants in the unwanted tens of millions). The immigrant-caused nightmares in the White European nations. The steady rise in crime and social problems in ultra-liberal Canada — CAUSED by its many non-White immigrants… to find the answer to my question.

Incidentally, the new grand champion sumo wrestler in Japan is a white Bulgarian man. He wrestles at a considerable disadvantage, because he lacks the low center of gravity most East Asians possess due to their having shorter legs (he is 6’8” and 360 pounds). His victory appears to be the result of his skillful use of his long arms, which would naturally make him good at grappling.
He’s regarded as a real gentleman, and is very popular with sumo fans there.
Previous non-Japanese sumo champions have included only two Polynesians (now retired) and one Mongolian (now defeated).

ghw, I’ll try. The reason I believe that the “New World Order” headquarters is in the U.S. and England is not based on facts but speculation. The facts of the matter are still too obscure.
England and the U.S. seem to be the only two nations who are continually concerned with the “rest of the world”. So concerned that they constantly meddle in other nations, almost non-stop. There seems to always be some hidden agenda that never seems to be what the “stated purpose” of the concern is.
If you listen to the British Broadcasting Corporation, it still reports news as if the old British Empire was still in control of half the world. The British Stock Market is one of the most powerfull in the world. Also, despite the critics, Britain has one of the highest standards of living and strongest currencies of the world. Britain and the U.S. are continually, almost non-stop, involved in intervention somewhere, usually in the western world. Britain and the U.S. both showed an exaggerated interest in the affairs of the former Yugoslavia and the influence of Serbia to the point of forming a European/U.N. coalition to reign in the Serbs, who were America’s and Britain’s former allies.
Now both nations have expanded their concern to the Mid-East, never really making the agenda quite clear except for some obscure “war on terror” and despite the fact there is no support whatever, from the rest of the worlds nations, especially Europe. Both nations are, it seems, trying to literally become microcoosms of the world by importing every known culture in the world and doing it at a frenetic pace. Gordon Brown, recently on a visit to the U.S. gave what can only be called a typical George Bush and father, New World Order Speech, where he talked of the virtues and advantages of diversity in nations visa vie a “Global” economy.
These things and others, have made me wonder about just what the priorities of England and our own U.S. are, in relation to the citizenry of both nations. The priorities certainly do not seem to be the welfare of the founding populations of the two nations. Just stuff I ruminate about, occasionally, but claim no absolute certainty of—yet.

Yet among highly developed countries, Japan has always ranked near the bottom in the percentage of foreign-born residents. In the United States, about 12 percent are foreign-born; in Japan, just 1.6 percent
Yet, they always seem to make out just fine, and they aren’t smart enough to solve this future problem without race mixing? Let’s see, they modernized their nation for the 20th century from ancient feudal customs, survived 2 atomic bombs dropped on them in World War 2. They rebuilt their nation and recovered from that same war, with U.S. help, yes, but they did rebuild their nation and made it into an economic powerhouse. They are a very hard working industrious people, who also showed the world they are resourceful and intelligent. I just hope for their sake they don’t take the easy way out, and start importing tons of foreign immigrants, and start on the road to ruin like the U.S. has already done. They can still save their nation, but it just might be too late to save ours. Japan, learn from us and don’t go down this road to ruin. Unity is strength, diversity is weakness.

I hope Japan will give incentive for its native Japanese to have more babies and work, unlike stupid western whites who are paying for our own destruction and takeover of our lands.

Wait till Obama is in the Black House (formerly the White House) he will push for Japan to be “racially sensitive”. Obama will then throw Japan “under the bus” like he just did with his 20 year religous beliefs.

Obama will throw Japan “under the bus”? It’s more like Japan will throw Obama under a bus without breaking into a sweat. They’ll be rolling Obama into their sushi and having him for lunch.
I just hope he doesn’t make it this far to where Japan doesn’t even have to deal with him.
