Charges against Robert Thompson, the man accused of robbing a gas station in Palestine and setting a woman on fire on Thursday, have been released.

According to his arrest warrant, Thompson has been charged with First Degree Aggravated Robbery and Second Degree Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

His bond has been set at $4,000,000.

Palestine Chief of Police Andy Harvey said the man entered the Pit Stop gas station with a handgun around 9:30 a.m. and tied up a customer and the clerk. He poured lighter fluid on the customer, lit a match, and set her on fire.

He then made away with an undetermined amount of money, but Harvey estimates it to be at least several hundred dollars.

The woman was able to extinguish the fire and suffered burns to her head and hair. The injuries are not life-threatening. She was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
