Those who live in occupied America, aka California, notice immigration’s social consequences such as high teen birth rates among Hispanic immigrants.

Black teens have a higher birth rate than do white teens according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control. The report, “Births: Final Data for 2015” [PDF] shows that the birth rate for black teens is 31.8 births per 1,000 females, aged 15 to 19. For white girls, the rate is 16 per 1,000 and for Hispanics, the rate is 34.9.

White girls have low teen birth rates relative to blacks and Hispanics as Eugene Gant noted on  The trouble is that no one is talking about all the Hispanic teen mothers. There are many more Hispanic teens than there are black teens. Immigration is the cause.

And, numbers matter, not just rates. For example, in 2015, Hispanic 15-year-olds gave birth to 3,110 babies and over half were Mexican-origin girls, 1,948. Non-Hispanic white teens, aged 15, had 2,093 babies and black teens, aged 15, had 2,079 babies. Mexico is the leading immigrant sending country and the very young teens having babies are disproportionately Mexicans.

When teen births for ages 15 to 19 years are considered, the importance of immigration becomes obvious. In 2015, Hispanic teens delivered 80,364 babies; whites delivered 90,833 and blacks delivered 50,039. Asians had 4,297 and Native Americans had 4,738. Hispanic teens accounted for over one third of teen births in 2015.

The curious question is why no one seems to notice or remark about the very high number of Hispanic teens giving birth as compared to the lower numbers for whites and blacks.

Perhaps blacks and whites just keep dwelling on blacks and whites and do not focus on the adverse consequences of importing people with different “family values.”
