Destiny Velez has been suspended indefinitely from her role as Miss Puerto Rico 2015 due to comments she made slamming Muslims.
The 20-year-old fired off a series of tweets to filmmaker Michael Moore after Moore posted a picture of himself outside Trump Tower in New York City holding a sign reading, “We are all Muslim.”
Velez proceeded to tweet at Moore a picture of herself holding a sign that read “We are all believers in Christ,” saying: “Why are u defending Muslims that haven’t done nothing for the USA?”
“All what Muslims have done is provided oil & terrorize this country & many others!!!!” she added.
“There’s NO comparison between Jews, Christians & Muslims. Jews nor Christians have terrorizing agendas in their sacred books.”
Other tweets included: “Muslims use our constitution to terrorize USA & plant gas stations” and “All they do is build their mosques, feel offended by American values and terrorize innocent Americans and plant gas stations and get guns and kills innocent ppl and destroy precious artifacts.”
In another tweet, Velez tweeted at Trump and expressed her support for him.
The Miss Puerto Rico organization later responded, saying in a statement that Velez has been suspended indefinitely.
Velez deleted her Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram and issued an apology.
“I apologize to the people I have offended with my words. I am first and foremost an #UpStander and as such I stand up against bullying,” she said.
