FBI: Mesquite Man Pledged Allegiance to ISIS Leader

Scott Gordon, NBC Dallas, May 14, 2015

A Mesquite, Texas, man who pledged allegiance to ISIS and lied to the FBI about it was arrested on Thursday, according to a criminal complaint.

Bilal Abood, 37, a licensed security guard, is charged with making a false statement to the FBI. He faces up to eight years in prison.

Abood was born in Iraq and migrated to the United States in 2009. He was a naturalized U.S. citizen, prosecutors said.

Abood tried to travel to Iraq from D/FW International Airport on March 29, 2013, but was not allowed to board the flight. He was interviewed by FBI agents, claimed he was going to visit family, and denied that he planned to fight for ISIS, the complaint said.

He later admitted he planned to go to Syria to fight with the Free Syrian Army against the government, the complaint said.

The following month, he left DFW for Mexico and traveled through various countries to get to Syria. When he returned in September 2013, he admitted to FBI agents that he had stayed in a Free Syrian Army camp and fought with the group, the complaint said.

In July 2014, the FBI obtained a search warrant to search his computer. The search found that Abood had pledged allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on June 19, 2014 and had viewed videos of atrocities such as beheadings and had tweeted information on al-Baghdadi, prosecutors said.

In his interview with FBI agents, he denied he had pledged allegiance to ISIS, and that denial was the basis of his charge.

Lawrence Auster said it first: one cannot at the same time be a Muslim and pledge allegiance to the American Constitution; and the only way to save our Constitution from Islam is to amend it such that the First Amendment does not apply to Islam.

  • Mesquite, Mosquito, Mosque.

  • A bit OT:

    My response:

We have forgotten nothing because we never learned anything to begin with.

These dolts think that the reason that “extremists” (don’t say the M-word or the I-word, you Islamophobes) are successful is purely because they have a good social media marketing and public relations campaign, such that all we need to do is come up with a better marketing and public relations campaign to counter.

Everyone, let’s get into the huddle, because I have something I want to tell you that isn’t for the ears of the rest of the world: ISIS and Co. are successful because they’re appealing to blood, tribe, kin and their overlapping faith. I know, this is a reality that modern Amurrikan equality and freedom obsessed democratic republican man/woman/womyn/trans can’t comprehend much less accept. And it’s a reality that clever new memes on social media won’t change.

Some Texan ! You can’t be American and muslim at the same time. Look at Obonzo as another typical example. The French Mayor of Vencelles has the only rational response to Islam in the West. Ban it and kick out it’s practitioners. These people can never be trusted to appropriate civilised values.

As long as the death cult – Islam is not destroyed, similar incidents will happen again and again in Western countries.

The allowing of Moslems into this country, makes NO sense. Moslems represent everything that Liberals are against. So, why are they being allowed into this country?

Their religion requires death to homos.
Their religion requires women to be subservient and have no rights.
Their religion requires Christians to pay a tax.
    Their religion outlaws abortion
Their religion encourages female genital mutilation
Most importantly, their religion prevents charging interest.

So, why would TPTB want them to move to the West?

Why? I am interested in everybody’s theories. Please respond.

It would be discrimination to let others in but not them?

Perhaps they are also going through a learning curve? Muslims truly are allies of the liberal agenda, now. Muslims may continue to be allies of the liberal agenda for the duration? The enemy of my enemy is my friend? We’ve made it pretty clear we see them as some kind of enemy.

      • By importing Muslims, the left is producing its own downfall. The left is so obsessed with us that most of them don’t see it.

The West keeps going about this the wrong way. Why would we stop people from leaving our countries when we only need to stop them from entering?

Wasn’t it the UK where they claimed they didn’t have the power to stop Jihadists entering the country, yet they seem to have the power to stop them from leaving? It’s probably several countries in that contradiction now.

That’s like being arrested for resisting arrest. If something else he did besides lie was illegal, why wasn’t he only charged with lying to police and nothing else?

    • Going to Syria to fight – or even attempting to assist terrorists in any fashion at all – was illegal.

      • LHathaway

Yes, but according to this news story he is only being charged with lying to police. I KNOW leftists believe lying is a virtue. And so do Muslims . . . Isn’t there some kind of directive to live to infidels?

        • Martha Stewart lied to investigators about insider stock-trading. She beat the stock case, but was convicted of obstruction of justice for the lying and received a one-year federal split-sentence. On a federal sentence of one year or less, there is no time off for good behavior, but one does half of it at home under house arrest on an ankle monitor.

One never has to talk to police, but anything one does tell them had better be the truth. If they are investigating a crime, asking you where you were on the evening of March 17, and your alibi is that you were screwing your daughter’s piano teacher, it is best to shut up and let THEM do the work. Don’t try and talk yourself off the hook; you get a lawyer for that.

A really good one is “I don’t remember.” Heck; it worked for Ronald Reagan!

Another legacy of Bush’s Iraq war. Every time America makes a foreign war, we are flooded with immigrants from that country.

While it’s still A-okay to wave the Mexican flag around in America with no problem at all.
