Record Number of Migrants Expected to Drown in Mediterranean This Year

Patrick Kingsley, Guardian, April 1, 2015

A record number of migrants will drown in the Mediterranean this year if the current death rate remains unchecked, after 10 times as many migrants lost their lives during the first three months of 2015 as during the equivalent period in 2014.

At least 486 asylum seekers have drowned in the Mediterranean since the start of the year, compared with 46 in the first three months of 2014, according to preliminary figures supplied to the Guardian by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). The death toll has risen sharply even though the number of migrants arriving in Europe by sea has remained roughly the same. It suggests that the EU’s decision not to create a like-for-like replacement of Mare Nostrum, a full-scale Italian rescue operation that folded last October, has neither curbed the number of attempts to cross the sea, nor fatalities along the way.

The rate of deaths far outstrips the rate in early 2014, leading to fears that the total number of drownings in 2015 will eventually surpass last year’s total of 3,419, which was itself a record. A quarter of the way into the year, the 2015 death toll has already almost overtaken the total annual estimates from 2012 and 2013, which respectively reached 500 and 600.

An IOM spokesman said it was impossible to say definitively what had caused the rise. But civilian coastguard patrols are struggling to fill the void left by the navy frigates that led operations for Mare Nostrum, said Flavio Di Giacomo, IOM’s spokesman in Italy.

Of the 170,000 migrants rescued in 2014, roughly half were saved by the Italian navy. Its ships were able to rescue hundreds of migrants at a time, provide them immediately with medical treatment, and also remain at sea for longer, cutting down rescue-response times. By contrast, the coastguard vessels that have been tasked with picking up the slack in 2015 are much smaller, and have to return to port sooner.

“There are many reasons for these shipwrecks, so we can’t say that this 486 would have been 40 or 50” if Mare Nostrum was still operational, said Di Giacomo. “But it is true that last year Mare Nostrum involved these big navy ships that were able to intercept and rescue many migrants at sea, while now some [migrant] ships are not able to be rescued because the Italian coastguards arrive too late.”

The EU-funded Operation Triton, which was introduced after the closure of Mare Nostrum, also intercepts migrant ships. But its primary function is to patrol Europe’s maritime borders, rather than rescue stricken vessels, and as a result only operates within 30 miles of the European coast. Unlike Mare Nostrum’s ships, which frequently sailed within reach of the north African coast, Triton is consequently unable to reach boats that encounter trouble closer to their origin in Libya.

This decline in capacity worries Matteo de Bellis, a researcher on European migration for Amnesty International who recently returned from a fact-finding trip in the Mediterranean. De Bellis said: “Clearly we are very concerned because, while there is still a big number of people prepared to take this very dangerous trip, we don’t see sufficient resources put towards patrolling the high seas and engaging in rescue operations. When you receive an SOS call from a distressed vessel, having a ship that is only one or two hours away–rather than 15 hours away–makes all the difference.”

Though the rate of smuggling trips dropped slightly in March, the number of migrants who have reached Italy by sea since January is still roughly the same–at just over 10,000–as last year’s figure. A spokesperson for Frontex, the EU’s border agency, said that more Syrians seem to be leaving Turkey for the Greek islands, a shorter voyage made by another estimated 10,000 people so far this year. Numbers are expected to rise much further once the peak smuggling season begins in a few weeks, with migrants saying that the increased maritime dangers are of less concern than the unrest they are trying to escape.

Abu Osama, a Syrian civil servant who fled with his family to Cairo in 2013, plans to sail illegally next week to Italy from Egypt, another common launch-pad for asylum seekers. He says xenophobia, poverty, and a low-level insurgency mean he is unable to get the fresh start in Egypt that he hoped for after being tortured in Syria.

The EU is expected to announce a review of its migration policies in early May. Anticipating the review, a UN special representative said this week that Europe needed a wholesale rethink about its piecemeal approach to migration, calling it “one of the great issues of our time”.

Amnesty hopes the review will include the reintroduction of a full-scale rescue operation funded by all European states, rather than just Italy.

Amnesty’s De Bellis said: “We really need them to prioritise saving lives on the high seas, otherwise this summer will bring us a number of victims that is comparable to last year, or even greater.”

Odd that you would wander from Taki only to be attracted to a drowning African story. You are an enigma. No country for old men.

  • superlloyd

Oh, cry me a river. These parasites are responsible for their own actions. We should feel no guilt for these ungrateful, unproductive third world denizens. This would never happen if they stayed where they belong.

  • Samuel Hathaway

This is why the North African migrants need to stay put. Easy solution. Problem solved.

    • George Moriarty

Yes, perhaps sometime in the future the UN and all the other misguided do-gooders will suddenly come to the realisation that Africa should be for Africans and that is where they should stay and be left to their own destiny in Mother Africa.

      • bilderbuster

They only pretend to be do gooders while their true intentions are sinister.

  • MrBiIIGoode .

    Mother nature to the rescue!

She said she came up with AIDS and Ebola but whitey keeps coming up with treatments. We need to give the poor woman a break.

      • Anton Chigurh

Yup…I thought Ebola might do some real work but nooooo, in went the bleeding heart whites to save the worthless hordes like they do every time. Mother Nature really can’t catch a break!

He’s been submerged at TakiMag too long. But, that’s a nice safe diversion. Nice to take the gloves off here at AmRen, though.

          • ShermanTMcCoy

If we’re talking about Anton (one of my favorite Taki posters), and he’s just recently arrived, I’d like to express a warm welcome.

He’s no John Derbyshire, but he’s welcome.

I’d be curious to know what was said about me “in the other room” that made you say I was “submerged at Taki too long”, which itself is quite a curious thing to say.

We found out from yesterday’s AR rostrum what the solution will be: Fly them here.

  • Blacks have no history of seamanship, which is a good thing or else Europe would have been overrun with them centuries ago. A continent truly concerned with keeping itself racially pure would shoot the leaky African vessels right out of the water.

Criminal invaders should have no expectation of any sort of Euro greeting other than cannon fire. Blow a few of them out of the water. They’ll stop soon enough then.

    • George Moriarty

It need not be quite that drastic. Australia managed to stop it’s boat people invasion, all it needs is a bit of political will. Part of our motivation to stop the boats was also to stop the drownings. But somehow the left did not see it that way.
Australia put all boat arrivals into off-shore detention facilities and paid the governments of places like Nauru to take them. Nauru is not an attractive destination.
It stopped the boats but needless to say the Greens, the UN and all other left leaning bodies are far from happy.
Likewise the EU should come to some agreement with any number of cash strapped African governments to take ALL the illegals in return for Euros. (Set up a refugee processing centre in these places also to keep the UN less unhappy)
Such a plan would definitely stop the influx.

      • Charles Martel

We have gone from needing a Charels Martel to save Europe to needing multiple Vlad “the impaler” Tepes.

      • MBlanc46

Yep, the political will. Alas, the political will of the elites in the US is to increase the number of invaders.

      • Anton Chigurh

Bombastic retarded commenters like bigone make me wonder if they are false-flaggers who’s only job is to say SH*T like that to make the Alt-Right look bad.

        • George Moriarty

I sometimes do wonder about the standard of debate on this site that seems to get past the moderator. I tend to agree that the only language that people smugglers and/or illegals will ever understand is the persuasion that comes from the barrel of a gun. However you are quite correct in suggesting that bombastic language will discredit our cause. I also have no time for vulgar language but this site is positively virtuous compared with some WN blog sites.
As for my own position on these matters, as a person I will offer the hand of friendship to anyone who comes my way. As a normal human being I hate to see anyone suffer, particularly children dying from starvation or dysentery or deliberate cruelly to another human being etc. As a realist I think it is sheer insanity to try and solve the 3rd worlds problems by letting them invade us, their sheer numbers will simply kill the goose that lays the golden egg very quickly.
My vision in all of these things is to see a world order where Africans stay in Africa and those from the Middle East stay in that part of the world and so on and where the “developed” world helps these people to help themselves, feed themselves and keep the peace.
As for multiculturalism, it is a flawed concept. If I want to experience say, African culture, I should travel to Africa instead of having to see a poor imitation of that culture in a crime ridden western Sydney immigrant slum.

          • Anton Chigurh

” sheer insanity to try and solve the 3rd worlds problems by letting them
invade us, their sheer numbers will simply kill the goose that lays the
            golden egg very quickly.”

There is crux of the whole matter. This needs to be the principal point promoted by the Alt/Dissident Right and whoever else wants to grow some balls and speak the truth.

          • AndrewInterrupted

So, NATO and the UN should fund a program to do as Israel is doing
–putting them on a plane to Uganda, with $100 in their pockets.

          • bilderbuster

It’s funny that the $100 that Israel puts in their pocket came out of our pocket.

          • Charles Martel

More like the $8billion a year

          • bilderbuster

I’m aware of that but the point I was making was that when Israel “gives” something to someone it really came from US taxpayers.

          • DonReynolds

No reward for trespassers or invaders.
Leave voluntarily or we bury them where we find them.

          • Anton Chigurh

Yeah I guess. I don’t to AR often and I thought the commentary at AR would be more like at Taki’s level but this was more of a Yootube level. Guys need to vent sometimes, I can understand that!

          • InAFreeCountry

There is a much higher level of discourse here than many other places, where all you get is hate and posters that can barely spell. I don’t post in Taki, but I have lurked at times.

        • AndrewInterrupted

His bluster on sinking African invaders would have been on-point 100 years ago. Look how Fabian-socialism and Antonio Gramsci’s termites have whittled you.

    • Samuel Hathaway

Think back to the sporadic reports of Haitian leaky vessels trying to reach the coast of Florida. We are in danger of something similar. The Dominican Republic has a valuable lesson to teach the United States about Haitians. in September 2013, the Dominican courts ruled that children born to Haitian parents in the Dominican Republic are not entitled to Dominican citizenship. Our own Congress and Supreme Court could take a lesson from the D.R.

      • DonReynolds

The same rules apply in the vast majority of nations in the entire world. The USA is one of the few countries that based citizenship on solis (soil). For many countries is it a matter of blood (ties).

    • Anton Chigurh

Forget “keeping itself racially pure”. Advancing this argument will have you labelled a Nazi before you can say “Crimethought” and you will blown out of the water (no pun intended) before you can even maybe change 1 mind. Stop it.

Advance the argument that the West cannot AFFORD to absorb Africa and there needs to be a full moratorium on immigration until the West can figure out a way to help them help themselves IN AFRICA. (There is no shortage of bleeding heart white do gooders who will go waste their pathetic lives in Africa to do it–so let them.)

That is an argument which is based on sound economics and avoids the racial aspect. That is an argument people will listen to, and you might change some minds in the process, which is what we really need.

“Blow a few of them out of the water.”
This will never happen. Do you even care about this issue at all?

      • HE2

Do you even care about this issue at all?
No. I only care about stemming the hemorrhage by any means possible.
The West has done all it should do attempting to “help them help themselves.”
They do not want help unless it is in the form of “you do, I watch.”
An Anglican priest named Harries has written extensively about his work among the Luo Tribe. He undertakes construction of, say, a well or clean water supply to teach them how to do this for their village.
They watch, but expect payment…..just for watching. They learn nothing, do nothing, expect everything done for them and to reap the benefits.

        • Unperson

The Luo tribe, it’s worth pointing out, is the one that Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., belonged to. Which means BHO, Jr., is half Luo. So the DNA of America’s president is 50% from a tribe in Kenya that expects to be paid for watching white people work; and are incapable of learning or doing anything for themselves even when they are patiently shown how to do it by friendly, well-meaning foreigners.
Explains quite a bit about the last six years, doesn’t it?

          • HE2

Exactly, Unperson. Soetero is genetically Afro lazy. Not only as observed by us, also reported by his former co-workers in Chicago’s “community organizer” office.
Suggest you Google “Obama Timeline” for full reportage on the experiences of others who worked with this narcissistic poseur.
He essentially did nothing but sit with feet propped up on desk supposedly writing “outlines” for the book later finished and ghosted by Wm. Ayers because Soetero just could not get it together to meet publishing house requested deadlines.

        • David Ashton

I once knew an agricultural adviser who worked on the ground in Nigeria, whose attitude to the locals went from optimism to despair to hatred. When he returned to England he stood as a lone candidate on a “stop immigration” of “incompatible cultures”, with minimal help, canvassing only one third of the constituency – by himself. I think he got 19% of the votes cast, pretty much a record in all the circumstances.

          • HE2

Nineteen percent is impressive, Mr. Ashton. Especially considering he had no campaign team working for him.
His story is a familiar one. Race realism, the folly of diversity in close proximity to civilized culture is taught by exposure.

        • Anton Chigurh

I know this to be true and trust me I detest Western bleeding-heart do-gooders probably more than anyone in the room. But African hordes aren’t gonna go anywhere but to Europe & NoAmerica and it is in the civilized world’s chief interest to stem them and figure out how to contain them on their own hellhole continent.

The West needs to figure out how to set them to work dealing with their own problems not in such a way that we think we’re going to fix anything, but in a way that will keep them busy and away from us. The West can afford at a relatively small cost to put them at busywork for the express purpose of getting them out of our hair on a permanent basis. As you are probably aware, African demographics are set to explode in the 21st C. And with plenty of help pushed along by Zionized, White Lib Cult-Marx and evil mercenary Globalists, they are only going in one direction and that is to your doorstep.

There will be no violence that solves anything. No one is gonna go sink boats and mow down refugees at the gates with Uzis. The West is going to have to use its brain to survive the century.

          • HE2

“The West needs to figure out how to set them to work dealing with their
own problems not in such a way that we think we’re going to fix
anything, but in a way that will keep them busy and away from us.”
The underlined phrase is underlined on purpose. Afritards are allergic to self-help AND work.
The aforementioned goodwill church worker Dr. Harries stated that the tribes with whom he worked [Obama’s own Luos] view the White man as their magical Cargo Cult delivery man, White nations as their Holy Grail destination. It begins and ends there.

I assume you have a mental image of what might work to motivate Africans. Can you tell me what?

          • Anton Chigurh

Watermelons and fried chicken for every ditch they dig and crop they plant? I don’t know. It’s not my province. I never professed to have the solutions which Africa “experts and analysts” are paid to provide. I’m just a suburban Dad.

          • HE2

B, b, bu, but Mr. Chigurh, I thought you were preaching about the West needing to show Africans how to succeed in ways other than those the “experts” have already tried with no results.
It stands to reason you would have a new and improved practice plan. :]

          • Anton Chigurh

It does? How does it “stand to reason”?
I also preach a balanced diet and exercise, but I am not a doctor. I’m not even preaching. Let it go, you’re not saying anything.

          • HE2

“The West needs to figure out how to set them to work dealing with their own problems

          • DonReynolds

Anton….you cannot imagine it, but you cannot always talk your way out of conflict, nor can you pay enough tribute to keep the barbarians from the gates. It has been tried before. People like yourself are part of the problem when you insist only peaceful solutions to invasion. We are being invaded and I seriously doubt you will be successful at convincing the invaders or their Quisling enablers to change their mind and not come at all. WE are not the ones you need to convince. There is nothing that WE are doing to cause the invasion. WE had rather it stop by itself, but we all know it will not.

          • Anton Chigurh

That’s some big talk. Let me know when you’re going to DO anything.
            You won’t.

          • DonReynolds

Unlike yourself…..I never decide in advance that people will roll over and play dead while their country is invaded. You and Obama dismiss all contrary viewpoints as “some big talk”…..which is fine by me. Please continue with your drum beating. It makes my job much easier.
You and Obama are betting that your opponents will do nothing. I bet they will so something….but probably not what you expect. I will win that bet.

      • ShermanTMcCoy

        Just wishful thinking.

I do what I can. Mostly doing my best to make any African feel as unwelcome as possible.

        • Anton Chigurh

Honestly that is the best that you and I can do. At work I have a certain influence with my boss over which contractors we hire and let go (Energy industry tech analytics) and I certainly will put in a bad word to him if any Africans come to interview.

There’s already one in my office who started recently. All the white milksops fawn over him, defer to him, make conversation with him. He’s weary of me because I don’t even speak to him but I think he respects me more than all the Diversity milquetoasts–Africans and American negroes can smell fear and submission, and he respects me because he doesn’t smell it on me.

      • David Ashton

I am an economist and have been since 1978. Not all issues are determined by “sound economics”…..particularly since those who make such appeals are seldom economists themselves.
Immigration policy historically (there is another basis), was determined by what was best for the receiving country…..not what was most convenient or best for the invaders. That should still be the heaviest argument. What is best for the United States?

Question: are they sending some of these invaders to Northern Italy and the Alpine areas?

  • SlizzardAjeosshi

This is an unmitigated disaster waiting to happen. Last time I’ve visited Italy it did NOT and i repeat DID NOT look good, mind you i was in the “rich” North, specifically Milan.

I left with a sour taste in my mouth like i have just spent time in a weird hybrid of Northern Africa and Ceausescu era Bucharest. The economy is in a deep coma, the government is broke and the Italian population is mostly comprised of poor fragile elders and a shrinking pool of very poor demotivated youngsters.

This country is sandwiched between an imploding Northern Africa and a stagnant directionless Northern Europe.

Now the Northern African cork has been popped open and a tsunami of African blacks is running free on the coasts of Italy.

AS usual our government is completely incapable of dealing with the situation, while a not-so-unexpected combo of SJW weirdos, mafia types, regular businessmen etc are actively profiting from this ocean of “refugees”

The EU authorities are basically trying to ignore the problems hoping this flood will remain confined in the Mediterranean shores.

More and more political parties, not necessarily on the left of the political spectrum, are tempted to open the floodgates to the North, with the not-so-hidden intent to ship as many Africans as possible above the Alps.

    This won’t end well

    • Anton Chigurh

“The EU authorities are basically trying to ignore the problems hoping this flood will remain confined”

You must be joking. The EU authorities are actively fostering open borders for destabilization and white genocide.

      • SlizzardAjeosshi

The intelligent ones yes, the majority of EU bureaucrats though mostly drag their derriere through the day waiting for 4 pm to come, when they can hit the nearest Swissotel bar for their usual blow-fueled rendez-vous with expensive escorts..

This latter group is vastly more dangerous: you can always hope to do away with the former by putting them in front of the firing squad, clueless morons instead will likely be replaced by another batch of clueless morons

        • Anton Chigurh

“hit the nearest Swissotel bar for their usual blow-fueled rendez-vous with expensive escorts”
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
          ~
          But yeah.

    • kikz2

my understanding is that Italy is frantically trying to speed their progress on to other countries…..

      • Alden

That’s because EU regulations require member states to take all these migrants in

      • SlizzardAjeosshi

Your understanding pretty much sums it up correctly.

EU countries signed a thing called the Dublin treaty, which basically forces each nation to take care of the Africans they rescue from the moment they’re saved until the political asylum procedure is either approved or rejected. Each EU jurisdiction, as a part of this whole sordid affair, is required to identify through finger printing (not sure about the DNA) every asylum seeker. That in order to avoid dealing with repeat applicants in the future.

In the meantime the asylum seekers cannot move, or even travel, from the country they landed. You may easily understand how everybody in Europe, particularly weaker economies like Italy, are rescuing the Africans trying at the same time to skip the (mandatory) identification part of the process in the hope of shipping this plague up north.

        • kikz2

i had no idea there was that much bureaucracy attached to it, i’d though it more like their inability to repel the hordes could only be met w/shooing them elsewhere in hopes they wouldn’t settle where they landed or were brought ashore. thx for the info.

    • KenelmDigby

      Britain MUST leave the EU.

If you are British and reading this, then you really MUST vote for UKIP in next month’s General Election. It is by far the most important political decision you will ever take in your life. Don’t flunk it – not that any of the other political parties are worth a damn anyway – by you will never forgive yourself if you don’t, and neither will your children or grandchildren.

      • AndrewInterrupted

The greatest bitter irony of all is that one can make a rock solid case that the best thing for Africans to do is actually to stay put in Africa to work on making their own home better.

The amount of no-skills, disease-ridden, low-attainment, high criminality African garbage that is absorbed by Europe and North America is tiny compared to the total number of Africans. It literally amounts to nothing. It is literally impossible for Europe and N.Am. to help Africa by taking in a sliver of their useless and lost.

The West needs to shut down its borders because it is guaranteed that the longer we act like lifeguards trying to save drowning Africa, the sooner we are gonna become exhausted and go down with it.

It ought to be considered a war. And we ought to consider raiding refugees to be committing an act of war. The white liberals who bring these hordes into our societies should be hung for high treason and I’m not speaking figuratively.

Everybody will figure all this out when it’s too late. Can the West wake up in time?

    • lily-white

“It ought to be considered a war. And we ought to consider the raiding refugees to be committing an act of war.”… Hence, bigone4u’s statement ” Blow a few of them out of the water.”

      • Anton Chigurh

Heh. Except you can blow a few of them out of the water and 100 more boats will come along. The war needs to be fought at the highest level–hanging the ones who have kept the doors open to the masses, the architects of the Camp Of The Saints.

It’s uncomfortable to advocate violence because the solution is not to kill a bunch of people but to remove the white liberal Cultural Marxists and their Zionist and Globalist overlords from power by sheer nationalist will. No, I don’t know how we’re supposed to go about doing that exactly.

Having said that I do consider Breivik a hero–but again, that was not the ultimate solution, just a necessary act in that time. We don’t need more Breiviks (well maybe a couple more), we need massive popular revolt starting with groups like UKIP, Generation Identitaire, PEGIDA, and such. Nothing will truly change with violence. Our nations need to heal themselves spiritually, and the problem will resolve itself. If the hordes arrive in the West to find locked doors, they will stop coming.

        • David Ashton

He was not a hero at all, and we can do without any more like him. We know now from his biographical data that he was what he seemed – a psychopath and narcissist. He soaked an anti-Muslim manifesto in the blood of helpless young whites. That “necessary act” set back the “popular revolt” that IS needed.

          • Anton Chigurh

I’ll concede we don’t need any more like him but I will say it was a necessary act which showed the world that the white genocide being conducted on the West is an act of war, and some of us are going to respond in kind.

Those “helpless young whites” you speak of were the future of white genocide in Norway. They drank, they f*cked, and they voted, and they were the future champions of the destruction of their homeland. Apparently that was ok for them, but it was not ok for Breivik.

          • David Ashton

I still disagree almost completely with what you say. These young people were murdered in cold blood, and some could have been rescued from mistaken beliefs if they had “grown up”, which is not the case with the survivors and their political allies. As it is, they have become media martyrs to “white racism” and their fate has set back the cause. In one sense, his personal history can help us, because he really is a weirdo, not a true political warrior, although white patriots generally are now be tarred with the “lunatic serial killer” brush. He is no Jose Antonio, Robert Brasillach, Andrey Vlasov or Horst Wessel.

There were – and are – other and more important targets.

    • David Ashton

This is the root psychological problem: alms instead of arms.

      • Anton Chigurh

The curse of West: do-gooding for lost causes due to the embarrassment of riches.
The Chinese and Japanese don’t suffer from this malady.

    • Susan

I believe the “powers” already know this. Obviously the corrupt US government wants them here. We taxpayers are paying for all sorts of ne’er do wells (including militant Muslims) to come here and support them after they get here. The US even builds mosques for them.

      • Anton Chigurh

We’re on the same side but it only hurts our cause if you spout things which are simply not true. Please show me one case where the US “built a mosque for them” (I assume you mean with your and my tax dollars).

        • Susan

Au contrare. US government has either built or rebuilt mosques in countries around the world. This has been going on for decades. Government also underwrites all sorts of Muslim ‘interests’ in the US….by selling government owned land at less than its value to build mosques, for example. US government is corrupt beyond your wildest imaginings.

  • The Dude

“At least 486 asylum seekers have drowned…”

A genuine asylum seeker flees for the nearest stable country, not cross continents. They are migrants knowingly and illegally entering countries because of the higher standards of living than their original ones.

    • InAFreeCountry

They’re heading for the welfare checks, which are North, not East or West over dry land.

    • David Ashton

The rule of nearest refuge must be maintained against “welfare tourism” &c. The old UNHCR principle that return-home is the preferred solution must be renewed.

    • kikz2

meantime, obama is telling illegals (who are ‘in process’) the usgov will fly their <21 kids here at taxpayer expense, then set them up on the welfare go-round. it's going to get ugly on the southern borders, when they think they hear their progs don't have to ride the beast to the land of honey.

    • Susan

That’s exactly right, but will never happen. The corrupt western governments, US is a prime example, want them here. The US even pays for them to come here.

“When I first came to the local supermarket, the shopkeeper realised I was Syrian, so he started shouting at me. Even the officer at the passports office treats us in a very arrogant way–he acts like he’s disgusted with us. So we just want to get out of this atmosphere.”

If your own people, or peoples closer to you culturally, religiously, and racially are disgusted with you, what makes you think people on the other side of the Mediterranean will be any gentler? And seriously, what does it say about Europeans when this migrant talks with such certainty that they will welcome him with open arms?

    • Alden

All the refugees know about European welfare which pays better than a middle class job. Or small business in Arab countries

That is the inly reason why the cone

      • NoMosqueHere

I don’t blame these people for fleeing the hell holes from whence they came. But if we allow them in as refugees they will keep coming without end, and soon our countries will become hell holes too. It’s cruel but we cannot commit suicide.

  • George Costanza

Why don’t they make their way to the rich Arab countries? Maybe because
the welfare benefits aren’t as generous as the ones found in the EU.

    • Anton Chigurh

Maybe it’s more than that. Maybe they are being steered to the EU and North America because some group or groups are pushing them that way for a specific reason.
There is no enforced Multiculturalism and Diversification in Japan and China. I wonder why?

      • George Costanza

It’s definitely something more nefarious than welfare that’s for sure. If you have time check out Ricardo Duchesne blog “Council of European Canadians”. Most of the stuff they post is right up your alley of contention.

        • Anton Chigurh

Could be interesting, will check it out.
I get there and the first thing I see is their mission statement which starts with:
“We believe Canada is a nation founded by Anglo and French Europeans”
Oh, they believe that? Oh, that’s nice. Because it’s a bleeding goddamned verifiable FACT–it’s nice to believe in historical facts.

        • David Ashton

Duchesne is an intellectual asset. Don’t let the b-ggers get him down.

    Hello,

486 this year versus 46 last year.

    Seems like a good trend.

Put a large sign on the beach of north Africa to stop the Africans from going to Europe.

    Europe doesn’t need more Africans.

    Bill Moore

    • Speaking of 486, how bout flooding Africa with RU486, and telling ’em its a new AIDS vaccine? The SJWs would catch on eventually and blow the whistle, but it would give us a momentary pause 20 years hence.

Okay the last article I commented on was about Christianity and a debate about whether it’s good for whites or not was raging in the comments section. But here is an example, could anyone realistically expect *any* Christian church to take the stance that is good for us on this issue and say too bad, let them drown? The religion is all about having an over abundance of compassion for people who don’t give a damn about you and thus weakens it’s followers.

In regards to the article, if they don’t want to drown they should stop sailing to Europe. Problem solved.

    • David Ashton

This “Christianity” is masochism not compassion. It has no NT basis. The Good Samaritan parable is about something quite different than claimed. The “ye did it unto me” passage in Matthew 25 damns to Hell people who persecute or ill-treat genuine Christians; it is not an instruction to feed the world – in fact, it is one of the most “politically incorrect” and “un-liberal” passages among many in the Gospels.

  • KenelmDigby

    I am perfectly indifferent.

    • Susan

I could be indifferent if I as a taxpayer wasn’t being forced to support these illiterate, diseased, low IQ types.

  • KenelmDigby

In fact, the EU is planning to establish so-called ‘departure centers’ on the African coastline, with the express motive of ‘saving lives’.
You see, the monsters who run the EU don’t want the invaders to drown, so they will fly them to Europe with aircraft instead.

  • I think people need to look into the EU-Africa Partnership programme to see what the EU has planned for the future of “integration” with Africa and EU. There are already “Job Centres” opened in Africa (if they are still operational) to facilitate movement of Africans to Europe.

In addition, as KenelmDigby states, they are opening ‘departure centers’ to facilitate the transfer of “would be” immigrants to Europe. You see, the EU is having a problem changing attitudes to this “illegal immigration” and are allegedly having trouble managing it.

So what they have come up with is a cunning plan, something to get rid of illegal immigration once and for all…. by shipping them here and making them all legal! Problem solved!

The sad fact of the matter is that the more our governments and the EU keep taking these people in and looking after them, allowing them to “vanish” into Europe, have amnesties, bring over their relatives, etc, the more will come. If found, they should be rounded up and shipped directly back to Africa. No ifs, no buts.

However, the deeply cynical in me suspects that the EU has been allowing all this to happen to radically transform that part of Europe, so that blacks are not uncommon in presence or in institutions, so that it “acclimatises” the populace to not think anything of the later “EU-Africa” program and its “circular migration” desires.

This would be, I suppose, a bit like Mexico and the border with the USA. If one believes in the theory of the USA/Mexico/Canada unification conspiracy, what better way would there be of achieving it than allowing a “gradual slide” or “blurring” of distinctions between the two meeting points?

Just think, Africa is set to double their demographic from the current 1.1 BILLION to 2 Billion by the middle of this century. They are set to reach 4 BILLION by the end of the century. Meanwhile, European nations are seeing sub-replacement fertility levels and mass immigration from all over the world, not just Africa.

The “desperate” people will continue to come forever, until we are wiped off the face of the Earth. Our “leaders” are seemingly happy with that.

    • Blackfish

Europeans have stopped having large families and need someone – anyone – to work and pay the taxes necessary to support their over generous welfare states. Gee, it seemed like such a good idea at first! Now they are starting to realize these “new Europeans” are more interested in collecting those same generous benefits rather than work.

Oh, and by the way, they want to bulldoze the cathedral that you used to go to and rape your granddaughters.

      • That’s pretty much the sum of it.

It was recently reported that in the last decade or so, immigration from outside the EU had cost Britain around £120 Billion. I am sure you could multiply that through previous decades, albeit on an ever reducing scale.

Whilst women are leaving it too late to have children, preferring (or needing) careers, they are inadvertently paying the taxes that allow us to be out-bred by others. Liberalism has wrecked society to such a degree that fixing anything is becoming extremely hard.

One German minister once ran with a “more babies, less Indians” campaign. It obviously makes more sense to encourage this, but of course, I do not think we are just haphazardly stumbling through all this. I believe that much of it has been orchestrated in full knowledge of how things would develop.

        • David Ashton

Another German once dared to say: “Germans first. For every man a good job, and for every woman a good man with a job.”

          Yes, it was him.

    • KenelmDigby

      They want it to happen.

  • Usually Much Calmer

Respectfully, I disagree. No nation owes them anything. Any program of responsive care would incentivize more of this behavior and more tragedy.

  • David Ashton

Prevent entry and return them promptly, with pressure put on the countries that allow their exit. The admission of the lucky few means invasion by the eventual many. The UK government is on the right track in denying admission to Syrian refugees while improving their camps pending a return home. Yes, I know – and agree – that “we” should not have tried to “overthrow Assad” in the first place.

  • mobilebay

When a nation is overwhelmed with immigrants as are most developed countries now, the invaders pull it down to their level and drain it until it can no longer take care of itself or anyone else. Aid is sent to third worlds, yet the developed nations are expected to take in their citizens too. It’s simply a matter of survival. Should first world countries be expected to share, firsthand, the poverty, diseases and low-skilled people too?

  • Interested Party

“Feed them, clothe them, and administer any necessary medical care”
Thanks, but I already have dependents. I call them my wife and children, and whoever else is in my family that requires my financial and emotional support, not to mention my friends and neighbours. Furthermore, if these so called “asylum seekers” decide to brave the water in a leaky boat, that is on them. Nobody owes those people anything.

  • Anton Chigurh

After all that, and after they are safely and securely returned to their home nation, they turn around and come right back. You are free to send your money to some Africans to feed them, clothe them, and give them plane tickets, but the fact you would require complete strangers who work hard for their own families to do so makes you an irritating, delusional, scumbag.

Intercept them at sea. Verbally abuse them at gunpoint. Return them after sinking the boat.

  • bilderbuster

I don’t want my taxes wasted by bombing the Browns or Blacks in their own nations anymore than I want to aid them in any way.

  • chuck_2012

These people are desperate to find a better life and a voyage on a rotten sinking boat seems appealing to them. Of course their own countries are such hellholes that staying in them is not an option.

  • Usually Much Calmer

It is not simply that my taxes go toward an expenditure I myself would not make. It is that what you propose has pernicious second order effects.

  • BlueSonicStreak

I would have sympathized with this at one time.

But this attitude is EXACTLY why the West is dying. The constant need for aid from other peoples reminds me of the story of the little boy with the genie who granted three wishes, who made every third wish a wish for three more wishes. You cannot go on dispensing wishes forever.

They take the risk, let them drown. I would not propose putting in some special effort to save them. If they drown on the way, they’ll stop trying to come.

    • DonReynolds

Invasions by foreign nations are normally opposed at sea before they can arrive…..those that get through are met at the water’s edge.
The ancient Britons waded into the sea and met (fought) the Roman invaders BEFORE they landed. That spirit has not died out.

  • Sun

Good YOU do all these things with your own resources. You put other people of other groups before your own. I don’t give a damn about them. I have priorities (as most people do). I find you downright disgusting. You remind me of someone who has a family who isn’t doing well but cares more about “the other” [children].

Not our responsibility. Your altruism and empathy is destructive to your own group. Let them drown. Pity you can’t be with them.

And this is a bad thing, WHY? In former times, NO european EVER saw a Moslem as a human being, let alone a ‘migrant.’ Illegal aliens, are, and always WILL remain, ILLEGAL.
It’s time to drop the facade, and call a spade a spade in these genocidal wars against Europe’s native race.
