200 Witchdoctors Arrested in Tanzania Crackdown

Yahoo! News, March 12, 2015

Over 200 people have been arrested in Tanzania as part of a nationwide crackdown on witchdoctors linked to a wave of albino attacks and murders, police said Thursday.

Police said they had arrested 225 unlicenced traditional healers and soothsayers during a special operation carried out in several parts of the east African country and due to be extended to all 30 regions.

“Some of those arrested were found in possession of items like lizard skin, warthog teeth, ostrich eggs, monkey tails, bird claws, mule tails and lion skin,” police spokesperson Advera Bulimba said in a statement.

Bulimba said the police campaign would target the entire network of gangsters, traders and witchdoctors, adding that 97 of those detained had already appeared in court.

The statement also appealed to religious leaders, traditional elders, politicians and journalists “to continue the awareness campaign against superstitious beliefs that are holding back the development of our country.”

The announcement comes after President Jakaya Kikwete said the ongoing attacks against people with albinism, whose body parts are used for witchcraft, were “disgusting and a big embarrassment for the nation”.

In the most recent reported attack, a six-year-old albino boy’s hand was hacked off with a machete and his mother assaulted as she tried to protect him.

Last week a Tanzanian court sentenced four people to death for the murder of an albino woman whose legs and right hand were hacked off with an axe and machete.

The killers who were convicted also included the husband of the murdered woman.

At least 76 albinos have been murdered since 2000 with their dismembered body parts selling for around $600 and entire bodies fetching $75,000, according to United Nations experts.

  • “A big embarrassment for the nation.”

Phooey. All they have to is scream “racism.”

    • De “terrble, terrble legacy ob de colonialism”, gnome sayin’?

Do you think they look at albinos in Tanzania like they look at us? I mean, are Albinos like “Whitey” in Tanzania? Do they say, lop off the limbs of White children like they do to Albino Blacks to make crazy decoctions? Maybe that is why there are no White children {left} in Tanzania?

        Just sayin…

  • Anglokraut

Wait, the attacks are an embarrassment, or the belief in witchcraft is the embarrassment?

  • Afritards are holding back the development of Tanzania. The “witch doctor” phenomenon is a symptom and not the disease. They’re just really stupid. I guess not having to survive an ice age will do that.

Koko the gorilla, who was taught American sign language was once given some IQ tests. She scored an average of 85 on them. African’ts run at about 70-75. We don’t know whether Koko is exceptional or not, but this suggests that gorillas are the real “Africans” and blacks are not.

I know which one I’d rather invite to my house if I had the choice.

Only in Africa is witchcraft/doctors are seen as a real threat. When will that neolithic continent enter the 19th century let alone the 21st.

Hmmm…when the Chinese finally just take the land, and move about 50 million Chinese there to secure the new colony?

      • adplatt126

        God willing.

    • John Smith

I’m waiting for them to even achieve 1st C. levels of civilization.

Most of Africa is still pagan. These are the cultural traditions which have existed for centuries and have resurfaced some what since the end of colonialism.

This includes eating rotting hippo carcass which I saw on the internet. It was gross. A hippo died and was swollen and bloated and the ‘people’ lined up to get free hippo steaks. I’ve also seen their markets with meat covered in flies with no a single negro swishing away the flies. Next comes the diet of cattle blood and sour milk. Saw that on Bizarre Food as well has them eating live insects. The real mystery is when are these ‘people’ finally going to be declared ‘less than human’ by true humans.

        Don’t forget the mosquito burgers.

This article would have only been fitting if it read, ‘200 witch doctors arrested in London’. Except that the British would be too afraid of being seen as racist to arrest them.

    • IstvanIN

Especially of they were using English girls in their recipes.

      • John Smith

They’ve had at least one Muti killing in London.

  • TF

There are many serial killers who murder people for the purpose of harvesting body parts which are used in potions. Due to the lack of policing in these countries it is hard to get accurate figures on the number of murders, let alone the number of serial killers. I am sure Tanzania has one of the highest number of serial killers in the world based upon this tradition of killing albinos. Just like the drug trade, when it comes to this industry, someone has to provide a steady flow of body parts, and this is usually the work of many individuals working for different and competing witchdoctors.

Sounds sort of like one of Grandmama’s (Adams Family) or Grandpa’s (Munsters) concoctions.

Witchdoctor is obviously a term created by those backwards cave peoples from Europe to denigrate the traditional African medicine and to further solidify their privilege.

  • Sick of it

You know what would be awesome? An episode of Cops. In Tanzania. With witchdoctors.

  • Rhialto

Truly, this is a gigantical leap for (African) mankind. The world should applaud the Tanzanian progress.

  • MrBiIIGoode .

ironic considering that the ‘witchdoctors’ are generally the most intelligent ones in the tribe.

  • Deacon Blue

So no more “Ooo Eee Ooo Ahh Ahh…ting tang walla walla bing bang?”

There is a forecast of a doctor shortage in about ten years. I wonder if Obama will import those arrested to shore up ObamaCare.

“Last week a Tanzanian court sentenced four people to death for the murder of an albino woman whose legs and right hand were hacked off with an axe and machete.”

It’s nice to hear that the murderers are actually going to be punished for their crime. People get away with similar atrocities on a daily basis in third world African nations.

It won’t get any better until they begin strongly selecting against people with genetic tendencies towards violence. Sentencing these murderers to death is a good start. I hope to see more of the same from Tanzania going forward.

Those albinos are light-pigment version of Negroes, not even white Caucasians.

  • mcleod51

Those Unlicensed healers and soothsayers can be a real problem.
