Burn Pictures of Jesus as White Man, Demands #BurnWhiteJesus Social Media Challenge

Inquisitr, September 7, 2014

A new social media challenge, identified by the hashtag #BurnWhiteJesus–and also known as the White Jesus Picture Challenge–calls upon people to post online videos of themselves burning pictures that depict Jesus as a white man.

The reason? According to the religious education site Patheos.com, the #BurnWhiteJesus challenge, “seems to be a recognition that the common portrayal of Christ as a man of white European heritage is false, and that the image of a white Jesus has been used to advance white supremacy around the world.”

Here is an example of one video of a man taking, and explaining, the challenge to burn a picture of white Jesus, which was posted by “Mr. Savannah Black” on August 19, with the comment, “This Will Be The HARDEST challenge For Most Black Folks To Do. In Order For You To Free Your Mind, You Must Get Rid Of This Image From Your Subconscious. In Order To Have Real Liberation Of The Self. The Kill White Jesus Challenge Is One That I Feel That’s Needed To Open The Door To TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF SELF.” [Ed: Mr. Savannah calls it the “burn the cracker Jesus challenge.”]

And here is another #BurnWhiteJesus video.

But why would anyone believe that Jesus was a black man?

{snip}

The fact is, no contemporary portraits of Jesus exist and for that matter, the Bible contains no description of what Jesus looked like. The portrayal of Jesus as a caucasian man of European appearance was originated by European artists in the Middle Ages.

There is no reason, historians say, to believe that a man who lived in the Middle East of 2,000 years ago would be anything other than dark-skinned.

According to Atlantic Magazine writer Jonathan Merritt, “The scholarly consensus is actually that Jesus was, like most first-century Jews, probably a dark-skinned man. If he were taking the red-eye flight from San Francisco to New York today, Jesus might be profiled for additional security screening by TSA.”

An irrelevant distraction. That probably has something to do with the barbaric religion founded after his time.

Jesus wasn’t black for sure. He’s honest, hardworking, forgiving, He thinks of others first, He gives liberally, He respects women, He knows His Father, He doesn’t kill or steal………… Jesus definitely wasn’t black. But Judas Iscariot by all rights probably was black.

        • Alexandra1973

I’ve heard speculation that Judas was literally the son of Satan, just as Jesus is the Son of God.

John 6:70 (KJV) Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

He didn’t say “has” a devil, but rather “is” a devil.

          • none of your business

Do you still have a KJV? The greatest contribution to western culture and literature the protestants ever made.

        • journey

Actually, Judas was from a wealthy Jewish family. His family spoiled him and he thought too highly of himself. He never confided in Jesus like the other apostles did.

          • bilderbuster

So even though his family was loaded he still sold out Jesus for chump change?

          • journey

You forgot the rest of the story. Judas Iscariot was shocked when a servant handed him 30 pieces of silver – a price for a healthy slave. He expected to be showered with praise, honor, and riches for the betrayal of Jesus. But the Sanhedrin regarded him with utter contempt for being a traitor. Judas committed suicide later that day. He hung himself. Pilate did as well committed suicide. Both realized their part in the betrayal of innocent blood. But Pilate’s wife, Claudia Procula, eventually became a believer and was prominently in the spreading of the good news.

Judas coud not possibly have been black. Jesus and all his apostles looked like whatever Palestinian and Egyptian jews looked like before the dark southern arab invasion; some sort of ordinary looking White.

    • TruthBeTold

That may be true but I suspect Jesus might reply something to the effect of ‘render unto Caesar that which is Caesars’.

I suspect Jesus would have submitted to authority just as He did when He stood before Pilate.

Aren’t middle easterners “dark” skinned because they are ~15% African? I thought that the mix didn’t happen until a long time after Jesus.

    • APaige

I always hear about a ‘blond hair blue-eyed Jesus.’ I have never been in a church were Jesus is portrayed as such. I figured he had middle-east, Jewish look.

Some in the Middle East are very white as the origin of the white race was in the Middle East.

    • Samuel_Morton

You are exactly correct. The genetics of the first Levantine farmers 10,000 years ago had no Negroid mixing, and it stayed that way until the past few hundred years. Sub-Saharan admixture in the Middle East coincides with the long decline of once-great civilizations.

      • journey

Don’t forget the ancient Romans imported blacks as slaves. And the blacks were in ancient Egypt long before Jesus.

        • Samuel_Morton

Blacks were around in small numbers in ancient civilizations, but significant admixture did not occur until relatively recently in the Arab world (hundreds of years). It occurred earlier in Egypt, given its location.

          • journey

The Palestinians are partly of the black genome. Most of the pure black race went into the Africa. But some 30,000 years ago, the mixed black groups migrated into Spain, Arabia, India, and Ceylon. And because of this migration along with the dominance of the Leakeys, the dominant theory is that man originated from blacks out of Africa.

The different races on this planet have been mixing for centuries. There were originally 9 distinct races on this planet. Just to give some history, man appeared 1 million years ago on this planet. Presently, man cannot explain how the races appeared except through some made up environmental factors. Now, the latest theory is that there are no races.

          • none of your business

Out of Africa is a liberal lie. Leakey was a fraud desperate to stay in Kenya after independence and formed a conclusion and then came up with evidence not the scientific method. There are no humans or apes descended from Lucy. It may or may not be a female. The only to tell if an unknown creature is female is if there are enough male and female pelvises to compare.
That african eve nonsense was done at UC Berkeley by a radical feminazi with an anti White agenda.

Aren’t Middle-Easterners classified as white by government agencies when they are on Most Wanted Terrorist lists?

      • Lola Guin

They’re classified as white by the government on the census and all other government documents. Middle Eastern people are Caucasian, but they’re not white. White refers to European people. However, we whites are technically the same race as Jesus, although a different ethnicity.

        • [Guest]

          >>>They’re classified as white by the government on the census and all other government documents.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. So when we read statistics on the criminality of white people, those statistics include Middle Easterners and hispanics.

    • They would have adapted to the hot sun there. Native Americans out west here are copper-colored and aren’t of much African ancestry. Oriental Asians in Japan, Korea and most of China are closely related to Amerinds, but much lighter in complexion, because the cloudy skies didn’t exert any selective pressure.

The selection pressure is not skin cancer, believe it or not. Instead, the UV in sunlight readily destroys folic acid, and in a pregnant woman, this results in spina bifida in the child, fatal under primitive conditions. If her skin is too dark, vitamin D is not produced in sufficient amounts, so again the kid has trouble. Any woman of childbearing years thus walks a fine line between skin that is too dark or too light.

      • benvad

Japanese and Koreans in Japan can get really dark. The girls who play on the tennis club at the school I teach at are tanned and as dark as any Mexican Indian I’ve ever seen. Exposure to the sun will darken most people in the long run.

        • I turn into something that looks much like a very dark Pakistani with brown hair if I spend much time in the sun, and I’m mostly Celtic and northwest German, aside from 3/16 Amerind.

    • Lola Guin

And middle eastern people ARE Caucasoid. Jesus was Caucasian, but he wasn’t white. Not all Caucasians are white.

I’m so tired of people making the claim that Jesus was ‘brown’, as if brown is the same as negroid. The closest living group, genetically, to ancient Levantines are the highland Sardinians. They look Roman, not even Middle Eastern. Current Middle Easterners have sub-Saharan admixture that occurred during the Medieval Arab slave trade.

    • none of your business

How do you know he looked like “today’s Sephardic Jews”? Do you know any Sephardic Jews? Ever seen any? FYI middle eastern jews are known as Mizrahi by the jews.

It would be correct to say he looked like a Mizrahi Jew. Sephardic refers to jews who were part of the moorish invasion of Spain cerca 750, lived in Spain until expelled by Isabella 1492 for among other things the 10 to 14 yr old sex slave trade of Christian Spanish girls to the Arabs and Turks. They then spread all over Europe.

Get it? Sephardics invaded Spain and stayed 800 years. Mizrahis stayed south of the med in the middle east and N africa.

On topic, I’m not an expert on Jesus but the folks over at the Daily Stormer claim he was not a Jew, but was Aryan. Some kind of argument about the ancient tribes of the middle east is made that I have no time to study. Whatever, we can certainly say Jesus was not a Negro, although there’s a cable show in which a jive talking, sex crazy Negro plays Jesus.

    • journey

Jesus was born among the Jews. And Jesus always regarded the Jews as his people. Mary, Jesus’ mother was more on the blonde side while Joseph was on the brunet side.

      • Alexandra1973

Who says Mary was blonde? There’s nothing in the Bible giving any kind of physical description.

She and Joseph were both descended from King David.

        • journey

And the Bible also says Jesus was born of a virgin = totally untrue. Mary and Joseph were married before Jesus was conceived. Jesus was to be born in a stable ordinary family so that the common man would later more easily relate to him.
Mary was less Jewish and more racially diverse in her lineage. While Joseph was more Hebrew but also had other racial strains. Both had no black ancestry in their lineage. Both were nobility of the common man. Neither David or Solomon were part of their ancestry.

          • Alexandra1973

Oh no, it is true. Joseph married Mary, but they didn’t consummate the marriage until after Jesus was born.

The marriage took place *after* Jesus’ conception. Joseph and Mary were betrothed at that point, and Joseph thought Mary was fooling around on him until an angel told him otherwise.

Keep in mind that Jews back then had a betrothal period that was a bit more binding.

          • journey

Believe whatever you want but use your brain to search for the truth. The Jews never stated that Jesus was born to an unwed mother nor did his followers. If it was so, Jesus’ enemies would always mock him of being born to an unwed mother. No such discourse occurred while Jesus was alive. No decent woman
would want that kind of stigma of bearing a child unwed. Nor should a child of destiny be marked as such.

The virgin birth myth came after Jesus’ death. This kind of thinking was not uncommon in past times in trying to make a prophet appear special along with some other Christian myths created over the centuries.

          • Charlie

And actually, the belief that Christ was born on December 25th, didn’t come about until the late 4th century, A.D. …there is a quiet belief that, virtually every single major event in the life of Christ, from the virgin birth, birth in a stable and manger, betrayal by a supposedly faithful member of his flock, to his rising from the dead after a short period, actually has parallels among many other pagan figures of that time…

          • journey

I would like to respond. Certain events pertaining to Jesus did occur as have been told throughout
            the ages.

Just briefly, Jesus did rise from the dead as told by him. Some of the Jews did not understand this especially when he referred to his physical body as the temple. Of course, Jesus did not appear in the physical body he had since it had returned back to dust. Jesus appeared in another form so that the mortal can see him with their physical eyes. They recognized Jesus again because of his voice and how he personally referred to them. Our existence does not end after the physical death.

And some of the healing miracles he performed were true. But the most important are his teachings. Currently, they lie latent
waiting for man to evolve higher to be actualized.

Jesus was actually born on August 21, 7 BC in a space hewn out of the side of a rock used as a stable as the inn was overflowing.
His birth date was changed to December 25 to reconcile with the
Mithraism cult. The Christians were persecuted by the Romans so they could not openly declare themselves as Christians. Gradually, the Christian church to give it structure adopted some of the Mithras rituals and beliefs which persist to this date.

Sargon the great, Siegfried and Sieglind and Zeus had lots of children by mortal women but none of them ever founded a religion and civilization that conquered the world and has endured 2,000 years. At least Jesus was not the product of boy girl twins like the first Japanese warlord.

          • none of your business

No decent woman would want the stigma of bearing a child unwed. Mary and Joseph were married long before Jesus was born. She was no an unwed Mother, just another “premature” baby as happens in about 1/3 marriages throughout the ages as attested by marriage and birth records

          • journey

Are you saying marriage and birth records pertaining to Jesus and his family survived for 2,000 years, especially on such a poor common family?

          • journey

Jesus’ birth was a miracle, divinity born as an ordinary babe to a mortal. Jesus’ mission was to show how God was by how he lived his life. Jesus is not God. He never stated as such but rather that he was Son of God and Son of Man. Man and divinity combined as one. The Jews to this date has difficulty accepting and understanding this concept. During Jesus’ time, the Jews knew Jesus was born as an earthly babe with numerous siblings, so how could he claimed to have seen the face of God, actually walked with God. To them, it was blasphemy, as the Jews took their religion seriously, too seriously. To convince the Jews, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. The authorities reasoned it away by saying it was the work of the devil.

There is no reason, historians say, to believe that a man who lived in the Middle East of 2,000 years ago would be anything other than dark-skinned.

Only problem for blacks is that Middle-Easterners tend to hate them more than any White man ever did, and enslaved far more of them for far longer than Whites ever did. If American blacks are such soul brothers with Arabs, why don’t we hear any of them clamoring to emigrate to Arabia? The answer is that they know they would be treated far less kindly than they are here. And for the Jesus-burners, will they now embrace pictures of Jesus with dark skin and straight hair? I don’t think they are really concerned with historical accuracy. Just a hunch of mine.

    • dukem1

I’m sort of paraphrasing here, but I think the Good Book says …In the beginning, God created Man in His own image…
It then seems likely that an artist would use that as a starting point in painting a picture of the son of God.
I find nothing particularly offensive with a black painter imagining Jesus to be similiar to his own image. He is a man created in the image of God.
Destroying other artists imagining – well, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t feel that is a message to be found anywhere in the Good Book.

      • I’m not religious, but if Jesus really was the Son of God, it can’t possibly matter what race He was, as the Message instantly supersedes any personal details of the Messenger.

While were on the subject of genuine, historical religious figures, Mohammad had red hair, grey eyes and grew a beard but shaved his mustache. He certainly wasn’t black, either. Siddartha Gautama – Buddha – was born in what is now Nepal, so he would have looked Oriental, with light tan skin and straight black hair. Again: not black. Then there’s Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism. I have seen one portrait of him, and he was a white fellow with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Still not black!

I believe we have a running theme here.

        • Douglas Quaid

You have an interesting point that has been neglected, there are no major world religions or myths from Africa. Shoot, even Native American legends have come into popular legend and have decent morals to them, but you never hear of any African ones. The closest they came was the Kwanzaa nonsense.

          • Yeah, as usual, they grab hold of something that somebody (no doubt White) has given to Blacks – and then at a later date scream the house down that it is not in their image and some kind of racism.

It is the same story for comic book heros, James Bond, multinational corporations, getting put in positions of high staff etc etc……they never make any of their own or have any success with their own, they just want “fairness” by hijacking ours.

          • Bossman

Blacks should reject all patriarchal religions and instead worship the great mother goddess. That would be a more life-affirming religion.

        • Alexandra1973

I’ve heard it said that the major religions come from Shemites–which would include Jews, Arabs, Orientals, and Amerinds.

          The first Christians were Jews.

          • Bossman

The Semitic gods replaced the old Greco-Roman gods. The East Asiatics have no real religion. Buddha was an East Indian.

          • Even Ghengis Khan regarded Buddhism as a philosophy more than a religion. The Greco-Roman gods had the manners of spoiled children.

          • none of your business

I think he was a member of the royal family of Nepal or Burma, a real person like Martin Luther or John Wesley.

        • Bossman

Where did you get that description of Mohammed? Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, believed that the American Indians were a lost tribe of ancient Israel. Since all the natives of the Americas are related, I don’t see how a true Mormon could be anti-Mexican.

          • I am not a Mormon. The only church service I ever attended was at Westminster Abby in London, as an 11 year-old tourist, and I remained silent. Most of the Mormons I’ve met are decent folks. I knew one as an undergrad who had been shunned because he liked coffee and dancing with women. I like coffee, tea, beer, hard cider, hard liquor and had lots and lots of sex out of wedlock in my younger days. I liked explosives and firearms and laboratory chemistry work in my younger days.

I’m not religious, so when I kark it, I see the matter as a bit like a leaf falling off a tree. The tree will continue, but I won’t be a part of it anymore. It will probably hurt quite a lot, but being afraid of a certainty is just silly. In the meantime, I have vegetable gardening, fishing, opening stuck jar lids, making fishing tackle, reading, writing, working on cars and trucks, spending time with my friends and family, and so-on.

I know I won’t get everything done. This is a bit disappointing, but also natural. My heaven is here. Were I naturally immortal and immune to disease, I would still die in an accident someday. That said, like is the ultimate free deal. You come in for free, you check out for free, and what you do in between are completely personal decisions.

  • Their use of the term “hater” is projection. We can contrast two cases of murder and the reaction by whites and blacks to these. When James Byrd – a drunk black ex-con – was dragged to death near Jasper, Texas by two drunk white ex-cons, white commentators thought it was terrible, and said so. Dragging someone behind a pickup truck until his body literally falls to pieces is morally wrong.

When Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome were abducted, gang-raped, tortured and murdered, one black media commentator shrugged it off with “Cry me a river.” Miss Christian was a 21 year-old university undergrad, and Mr. Newsome was a construction worker. Since their murders occurred in 2007, they would have been born in the mid-1980s, 20 years after the beginning of President Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” of alphabet soup programs intended to help blacks. It is thus mathematically impossible that this couple could have been responsible in any way for Jim Crow, but their lives were considered worthless by this PoS because they were white and their killers were black.

Whites who deliberately seek out and sincerely believe in the old Norse religion deserve even more contempt than blacks who delude themselves into thinking that Jesus or other non-blacks were black. At least the blacks involved have a lower average IQ as a defense. No religious system that’s just a version of “my tribe yay your tribe boo” deserves any more respect as a serious effort in metaphysics, philosophy, cosmology, and spirituality than two chimp bands screeching at each other.

And paganism, with its absurd gods of this and that ad infinitum, a spook in every tree and rock and rain-ditch, and its paucity of imagination only able to concoct “gods” that are exactly like humans only with more power and with no special concern for human welfare, and its afterlife of either cretinous barbarism (drunken brawling for eternity in Valhalla) or grim amorality with everyone ending as a shade flitting about in Hades regardless of what they did in life, died for a REASON. It’s insulting to the intelligence, and unsatisfying to the moral need for uplift. Regardless of whether you believe in Christianity, it’s easy to see how a faith postulating only one god that created everything and that deeply loves mankind as individuals, was more attractive and converted a civilization.

    • captainc

Do you think Jesus was born out of a virgin? Do you think Christianity caused Roman Empire to be even greater or rather imploded? I think God who loves the best is much better for civilization, it is proven that pagan Roman Emperor Julian was right.

      • dd121

I think Christianity helped the Roman world into decline. Romans were a warrior civilization; Christianity was just the opposite. They taught people that slaves were just as good as the Romans. Nonsense.

Christianity is nothing more than the bastard stepchild of Judaism…Christians are wracked with endless guilt, which is actually a common trait among Juden…most atheist Jews, became atheist, simply because the fact that, they were sick and tired of being shackled with feelings of eternal guilt, which is one of the reasons why they hold total economic and political sway over the entire Western World…after the Crusades, the White Race lost its fight and lust for conquest, which was only revived when a certain political group from Germany in the 1930’s, tried to revive those ancient pagan virtues which were so vital to the survival of our race, in ages past, but of course, they were defeated, but that’s another story…

    • Who Me?

Carney, when you speak of “Paganism” which religion of Paganism are you referring to? Do you even know the real definition of Paganism? It is an umbrella term, covering a great many religions, just as Christianity is an umbrella term covering a great many religions; (Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, etc.). Paganism of one form or another was the ancestral belief of the European natives before their conquest by Rome. The old Norse religion is one of those Pagan religions and is far more appropriate for a person of Norse heritage than a religion bred in the middle east and taken to Europe by their conquerors and forced upon them by the sword. Do you need a history lesson, too?

You are just joking about the dying for our sins, right?

      • Bossman

No! He’s not joking, The Christian churches teaches that God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son to be sacrificed on a cross for the so-called sins of humanity.

        • journey

It’s called guilt manipulation to control the masses.

To educate, no righteous God would have an innocent man died for the sins of others. Each and everyone of us are responsible for our own wrong doings.

The death of Jesus was an ordinary course of events. Jesus’ mission was finished at the time of his baptism. But it was the will of the Father that he finished his mission as an ordinary man which meant a natural death. Jesus was born as an ordinary mortal babe and he would died like any other mortal. Be not mistaken, Jesus lived a joyous glorious life in the flesh.

  • Douglas Quaid

The last time I went to the local flea market here there was a booth selling a bunch of black Jesus art work, I couldn’t help but stop and laugh at how ridiculous it all appeared. It seems like the blacks were rather embarassed by it too, as there was no one manning the booth. To a large extent all I can do is pity such people, they have no real identity or heritage to be proud of, all they can do is bastardize greatness.

In one of the many Talmudic tales Jesus is the son of a whore from Nazareth and a Roman soldier.

    • Dale McNamee

In the Bible, Jesus is termed a “Nazarean” because He lived in Nazareth…

The Bible also states that all of humanity are “created in the image of God”..

Given the great diversity of skin color hues… It makes a white and/or black Jesus silly & moot…

I’ve been to Korean,Japanese, Vietnamese,Thai,Chinese churches and Jesus is Asian…

Mexican & South American church art shows Jesus with Latino/Hispanic features…

Then, there are the depictions of Jesus in the Eastern/GreekRussian Orthodox Churches… Guess who He looks like…

And in the Bible. Jesus answers His disciple. Phillip’s request to “Show us the Father” by telling him that : “Whoever has seen Me, has seen the Father”…

      Since God is Spirit…

And now for my statement of faith :

      The Nicene Creed :

      We believe in one God,
      the Father, the Almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
      the only Son of God,
      eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
      true God from true God,
      begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
      he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
      and was made man.
      For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
      in accordance with the Scriptures;
      he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

“Catholic” means “Universal” in this case

A traditionalist priest that I know and who taught me my faith (now deceased)—and when I say Traditionalist, I mean, he never once said or once attended the masses(?) in Catholic churches today when they changed from the Latin mass to the vernacular (nor did he truck with those who did—even for weddings or funerals), once asked this question:

If you saw Our Lord, and he was a short, fat, balding, stereotypically Jewish man—and not attractive at all—would you still love Him as much as you do now?

I always thought that was an interesting question. It makes you think.

“And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.” 1 Sam 16:12

This is a description of King David. Jesus is a descendant of King David. The lineage of Jesus goes back to Adam. The word ruddy is a description of one who blushes. Jesus would look more like David as miscegenation was/is forbidden contrary to what the idiots who pose as preachers of the Word will tell their people.

Even Billy Graham couldn’t figure this one out and he’s supposed to be a Bible scholar.

From Luke 3 we have the genealogy, 38 “…the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.”

Some more “grist for the mill” :

Isaiah 53 King James Version (KJV)

53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

From Isaiah 52: 14-15 (KJV translation)

14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

So, what does Jesus look like ? And if we had lived during His time, would we have recognized Him as God, Lord & Savior, or would He have been rather “non-descript” ?

  • Whiteplight sees the Emperor N

Some time ago, but within the last decade, an experiment was done on the theory of what a “real Jesus” might have looked like. Scientists merely used DNA samples from the historic period claimed for “Jesus” in the geographic region of the claim. The results are for a typical man of the time, short, wiry haired with a fuzzy beard. “Not the “Nordic Jesus” we most often have seen in paintings and other imagined renderings.

For a real tough time, seek the book, “Nailed, Ten Christian Myths that Show Jesus Never Existed at All,” by David Fitzgerald. Save the replies, just take the Jeffersonian challenge.
