Fast food giant Subway has removed ham and bacon from almost 200 outlets, and switched to halal meat alternatives in an attempt to please its Muslim customers.

It has confirmed turkey ham and turkey rashers will be used instead in 185 of its stores, where all the meat will now be prepared according to halal rules.

The chain, which has around 1,500 outlets across the UK, explained its decision by saying it had to balance animal welfare concerns with ‘the views of religious communities’.

Traditional halal slaughter sees animals have their throats slit before bleeding to death. But Subway stressed that the meat served in its sandwiches would come from animals that have been stunned first, a practice that aims to reduce any suffering.

In Arabic the word halal means ‘permitted’ or ‘lawful’ and defines anything that is allowed or lawful according to the Qur’an.

It is often used to indicate food–particularly meat–has been prepared in accordance with Muslim principles and techniques.

Muslims are forbidden from eating any non-halal food and meat from pigs and Subway said customers can identify those stores selling halal food by the special ‘All meats are Halal’ sign, which must be displayed in participating branches.

In the halal-only branches ham and bacon has been substituted for turkey ham and rashers.

Many animal charities condemn halal slaughter as being cruel to animals.

Traditionally in halal abattoirs the throats of the animals are cut while they are fully conscious–an act many campaigners say is inhumane and needlessly cruel.

In non-halal abattoirs, livestock are stunned before killing to prevent any unnecessary suffering.

Some halal butchers also practise pre-stunning, though it is not permitted by some Islamic scholars.

In Britain, killing an animal without prior stunning is illegal, but the law gives special exemption to Muslim and Jewish meat producers on the grounds of religion.

There are thought to be around 12 abattoirs dedicated to unstunned slaughter in the UK, while hundreds practise stunned halal slaughter.

A Subway spokeswoman told MailOnline all halal meat served in the participating branches is from animals who were stunned prior to slaughter.

She said: ‘The growing popularity of the Subway chain with the diverse multicultural population across the UK and Ireland means we have to balance the values of many religious communities with the overall aim of improving the health and welfare standards of animals.

‘We put a programme into place in 2007 to ensure that the population demographic is taken into account when new store openings are considered in order that we meet consumer demand in each location.

‘All our suppliers comply with EU animal welfare legislation as a minimum and we require suppliers of halal products to adopt the stunning of animals prior to their slaughter.

‘All halal meats are certified by the appropriate halal authorities.

‘All halal Subway stores have numerous signs stating that they serve halal food.

‘These are situated on the menu panels, nutritional information and in the front window of the store.’

Animal campaigning charity PETA urged people to opt for a vegetarian diet to ensure they have the best interests of animals at heart.

A spokesman said: ‘At the best of times, meat is a product of a bloody and violent industry with no respect for other living beings who value their lives in the same way that we do and experience the same pain and terror that Subways’ customers would if they were killed for a sandwich.

‘Most religions, including Islam, preach kindness to animals, but words are one thing and practice another.

‘As the Dalai Lama said, “My religion is kindness”. And a diet that expresses kindness, is open to all religions and truly respects animal rights is a vegan one.

‘Subway-goers, no matter what their religion, can eat with a clear conscience by opting for the veggie patty, the veggie delight or, heaven forbid, a salad.’

Speaking about the general issue of halal slaughter, an RSPCA spokeswoman added: ‘Scientific research has clearly shown that slaughter of an animal without stunning can cause unnecessary suffering, and the RSPCA is opposed to the slaughter of any animal without first making it insensible to pain and distress.

‘At present, the only legal exemptions to stunning during slaughter exist for kosher and halal methods of slaughter, however, it is important to differentiate between ‘religious’ and ‘non-stun’ slaughter as around 90 per cent of all halal in the UK receives a stun before slaughter.

‘Our concern has nothing to do with the expression of religious belief but with the practice of killing by throat cutting without pre-stunning.

‘We believe that meat produced from animals stunned or not stunned before slaughter should be clearly labelled to allow consumer choice, and continue to press for changes in the law that would improve the welfare of all farm animals at the time of slaughter.’

At least these Subway stores aren’t behind bullet proof glass. Yet.

    • 4321realist

As unafraid or as militant as the Animal Liberation Front is, I wouldn’t buy any Subway stock.

  • sbuffalonative

Muslims are a big market; bigger than native Brits?

If native Brits stopping eating there because of this decision, would Subway reverse their decision?

    • If the Brits have an ounce of sense (which they don’t!), they’ll boycott Subway in mass – including every other business that caters to the Muzzies in opposition to indigenous white Brits.

      • Strike_Team

Exactly. This minority boycott garbage is out of control. If whites see corporations back off, especially when it comes to savages like this, they should inform the corporations that they too will back off, if things aren’t put back in order the way they are supposed to be.

Violence? May as well let the savages start now, let everyone see their true nature.

I really do have the feeling that real revolution(s) will be in Europe, and they will eventually evict the invaders – and their pretend to be white enablers – when this eventually happens. I’m not so sure about the US, but do feel it is very possible.

  • D.B. Cooper

What a perfect opportunity for a mom and pop sandwich shop to fill in the void.
    “Now serving ham sandwiches”.
I’m not a big pork eater, but at least I know *who* won’t be in there.

    • GB101

What you suggest could be dangerous.

      • sbuffalonative

Just don’t be obvious about why you’re doing it. And pick a cute name like “Hog Heaven” and have a pig as your mascot.

And never never never tell anyone why you named it that or why you specialize in pork. THAT would be dangerous.

        • Katherine McChesney

One of my favorite barbeque places in Nashville is named “Hog Heaven” and there is a picture of a pig on the sign.

I guess the Muslims won’t be visiting it anytime soon.

      • Greg Thomas

        Placating militant muslims is dangerous.

    • OnGuard

Remember when the Generation Identitaire in France, decided to serve free pork soup to the public? The government decided it was racist!!!

  • The Final Solution

By catering to these minorities they have fundamentally undermined their own business concept. If these stores were in Muslim countries it would make sense. Hopefully this will cost them big and result in closures. Many companies these days are moving toward such shortsighted decisions and the purchasing power of whites is all but invisible to them. It’s time we let them know that it is white people who make the world’s economy turn.

  • haroldcrews

Just a heads up to those who object to pork. The South is full of bbq restaurants and there are also frequent pig pickings are any random church or civic club you want to point a stick at. That delicious smoke you smell when you’re driving around is most likely from cooking pork. Yes, you’re walking and driving through pork smoke. And folks take their bbq seriously so don’t even think about stopping it.

  • DaveMed

Very bad news. I mean, it’s not “news” to us, but unaware Whites need to see this as the harbinger that it is.

This is purely market-driven – Subway sees the demographic writing on the wall.

  • mobilebay

How very sad! I recall the many WW11 movies that showed the patriotic and brave Brits and how they withstood the enemy who rained bombs on them constantly. Now, their government has allowed an enemy who only has to walk in and state their demands and they are met. Maybe there will not always be an England as the 1939 song suggested.

    • David Ashton

At our annual Remembrance Service I notice that “There’ll Always be an England” music always accompanies the “march” past of the elderly wounded or disabled in their wheelchairs. Coincidence, of course.

  • GB101

I have eaten my last subway.

    • evilsandmich

Well they’re franchises; there’s only so much pressure that can be put down the corporate pipe, especially in a foreign country.

  • Animal cruelty is part of the culture of blacks, Asians, Mestizos, and Muslims. The pigs are going to be happy over this, but the turkeys not so much. As to non-muzzies, the best thing to do is to be rude to muzzies as much as possible. Mock their women’s style of dress. Give them the hate stare. At least let them know face to face that they’re not welcome in your neighborhood.

    • I totally agree with this. Let the muslims feel by your attitude and unfriendly demeanor that they are not welcome in your country. If enough whites did this, we might actually see some changes for good.

      • David Ashton

The truth is that faithful Muslims should not remain as settlers in the House of Conflict but have temporary residence only as traders or missionaries, and should return to the House of Submission – unless they can insulate their areas by sharia autonomy, including madrassas and bases for future extension. By assisting them to establish permanent yet alien communities in western societies with their own internal governance, the “authorities” are creating problems that are as unnecessary as they are fatal.

    • Luca

Speaking of animal cruelty, are you aware of any major differences between halal and kosher slaughter rules? Are you aware that Muslims can eat kosher foods?

They are nearly identical but you never hear of any negative press about one of them. I wonder if it has anything to do with who controls the liberal MSM?

      • robinbishop34

I believe the Nazis were the first government to pass animal welfare laws preventing kosher slaughter.

    • Intrep1d

Whites and animal cruelty aren’t exactly mutually exclusive either. SeaWorld. ‘Nuff said.

  • MekongDelta69

“Fast food giant Subway has removed ham and bacon from almost 200 outlets, and switched to halal meat alternatives in an attempt to please its Muslim customers.”

Yeah – never mind about pleasing YOUR OWN PEOPLE.

You import the third world – you GET the third world.

    Bow low – REAL low…

    • evilsandmich

I should note that local Muslims who own Subways have no problem serving such “foul” ingredients, thus, this whole bit is just a suck-up capitulation.

  • So CAL Snowman

Subway is pretty nasty, halal meat or no halal meat. There is nothing “fresh” about Subway’s produce or meat. The fact that Subway is allowed to advertise as eating “fresh” is insane. I’m reading comments about how Subway should cater to its own people in Britain. Why? Subway is a privately held company with nearly 41,000 restaurants in over 100 countries. Subway doesn’t care about nationality or ethnicity, all Subway cares about is making money. The problem is not Subway (aside from their crappy food), the problem is Muslims in the UK. If the people don’t like it, they don’t have to eat there and thus the halal Subway goes out of business.

    • Lagerstrom

Indeed. Make your own sandwiches Britain, who needs Subway, anyway!

    • I was morning manager of a Subway in 2004, and the inspector from corporate headquarters was much stricter than the Colorado Springs city health department. While I disagree with this recent policy of theirs, their food is good.

  • Truthseeker

All the historic Europeans who fought and died to stop Islam’s spread into their homelands would be ashamed of their descendants if they could see them now.

  • IstvanIN

To keep the not so well groomed muzzies out of my store I would keep lots of pork and prok by-products on hand.

  • dd121

If I were a teenager working there, I’d slip bacon in the sandwiches just for spite.

    • One of my Australian friends used to bring pork rissoles into the lab and hand them out to the Muslims, telling them it was turkey. I was a bit more crass; I urinated in their coffee.

      • Katherine McChesney

        You bad boy, you.

  • ncpride

Just by reading the first few paragraphs, I know I’m done with Subway. I despise grovelers. Besides, I make a pretty mean sub myself at home on Hoagie night, complete with all the trimmings.

    • Lagerstrom

For less than half the price too, I’d bet.
My humble multi-ingredient cheese-toastie would be better than anything that Subway would dish up!

      • ncpride

Yes indeed! Particularly in the summer with fresh veggies from my garden. Subway can’t come close to what I can whip up.

        • Lagerstrom

When I see adverts for ‘meal deals’ from fast food outlets, they are usually about thirty, or so, dollars for the three of us. I could make about two days worth of decent meals for that.

  • Anglokraut

In other news, non-emasculated White British discover that Subway sandwiches aren’t that good in the first place, when they stopped eating at the sandwich shop and took their money to a local pub with pork chops on the menu.

  • Magician

It is irrelevant to their customers in UK but I notice the quality of Subway sandwiches plummeted while the prices skyrocketed for the past several years and naturally and consequently I rarely buy their products any more

Mcdonalds, while having always served truly low quality products and mostly catering to young black customers, at least kept their prices relatively stable and still provide such nice bang for the buck coffee

Halal Subways in Pakistan? Yeah, you betcha. In the UK or the US? Hell no.

    • Ella

So, the Polish, Germans, French and Mexicans should not have pork products because of these new immigrants? My answer is not to eat at Subway and buy sandwiches at a meat deli. Pancetta should be on any real Italian sandwich!

  • italian guy

I worked with muslims and i did eat various pork derived products around them, like salame, prosciutto (ham), pancetta (similar to bacon) etc. one of them told me that they could actually eat pork, but many muslims don’t know what part is prohibited so they avoid it completely… anyway no one ever said anything to me about it, if you are a weakling other people will try to conquer you, that’s all there is to it.
The West need to stop bowing down and give non-whites everything, nothing good comes from doing it.

  • 4321realist

“Traditional halal slaughter sees animals have their throats slit before bleeding to death.”

And it is a brutal slow death, leaving the animal staggering around tripping and slipping in its own gore.

No, they can’t guarantee the animals are stunned first, because part of the ritual calls for the animal to be conscious, and the brutality pigs would never stand for that.

I’ll never spend money at another Subway.

This entire practice was borne in a desire to satisfy the blood lust of a few crazies and nothing else. To guarantee their sadism wouldn’t be rejected somewhere down the road, they included it in their third world religion.

What else could be expected of a religion that thinks it’s o.k. for old men to force marriage on pre-teen age children, cut off people’s hands and feet for relatively minor offenses and bury victims up to their necks and stone them to death for non-capital offenses like adultery and the like?

  • sestamibi

Don’t you just love the collision of PC articles of faith?
When it comes to blows, however, I’d bet on Islam. There are far more of them then there are PETA supporters, and Muslims can match them violent act for violent act.
In the hierarchy of PC values, multiculturalism trumps EVERYTHING–environmentalism, feminism, gay rights–EVERYTHING.

    • Einsatzgrenadier

Because it’s all about hating whitey, anything that curtails whitey’s power and influence will be used against him. Unfortunately for us, multiculturalism just happens to be the most effective weapon in the PC arsenal. This is why multiculturalism must come before feminism and any other PC ideology. Multiculturalism kills whitey dead.

    Hallo from South Africa
The Muslim faith is in a high imperialistic gear. Their object is simply displayed all over the world and that is that they will slither into every community.

In South Africa the Muslim community is about 2%. BUT, I cannot go into one of our supermarkets and have a trolley full of groceries that is not 90% halal. It is amazing how this 2% can hold 98% of the population hostage by forcing us to eat hahal. The local Muslim Judicial Society in South Africa extracts huge amount of money from the producers of food product to halal their products. Even though the common argument is that we as the consumer does not pay that and that halal products are sometimes cheaper than non-halal products, it is just hoodwinking the consumer.

The halal surcharge accumulates into millions of rands every year. Khairy Jamalludin, chairman of the World Halal Forum says globally, the halal industry is estimated at $580
billion per year. The people that run the certification bodies have become fat-cats with your hard-earned money. Since more than 80% of items on supermarket shelves are halal, almost every consumer is an unwitting victim of this evil practice (survey of 20 basic food items conducted at national stores).

So in effect we the consumer pay the Muslims to expand and invade.

    • kikz2

same here in the us w/ ‘those who in polite company should not be named’……

  • Any grocery store or restaurant that caves into these Medieval creeps by discontinuing pork products has lost my business forever.

    • Lagerstrom

That’s all that people have to do. What if every single Brit with a half-a-brain boycotted Subway? They’d panic. Then the back-peddling would be quite hilarious.

      • SFLBIB

I tried a Subway … once. It was a lot of shredded lettuce and onions, and one thin slice of cheese and one thin slice of meat, in a roll that tasted like paper. Why are they so popular?

        • dd121

I agree. I gag just thinking about putting that stuff in my mouth.

          • SFLBIB

My son worked in an office near a Subway where everyone would go to lunch. He couldn’t convince any of them to try a nearby mom-and-pop real Italian deli that made sandwiches light-years ahead of Subway.

I knew people like that in the military, which is why mess halls put out bad food. I swear, Americans sit on their taste.

        • evilsandmich

Have them put mayo, oil ,vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano on it. Add some mustard or one of their sauces as well. Of course now you see why I haven’t been there in years because you have to lard the thing to death to make it taste like something.

          • SFLBIB

Yes, and those items don’t cost them more than about 5 cents.

        • We didn’t do it that way. The owner, Howard Short valued repeat business, and ten years later, I still make wonderful sandwiches, though I don’t bake the bread.

          • SFLBIB

He didn’t have to worry about repeat business: they will come back because they have no taste.

    • IstvanIN

I won’t even buy turkey “bacon”, what a farce. No wonder most of their native economies are a mess, do they even trade pork bellies?

    • evilsandmich

That’s not even a moral decision. No bacon? No business. Just the way it works.

  • Companies, corporations and the state are only interested in “future growth”. Halal certified products are a CERTAIN ‘future growth’ market worth £Billions.

Muslim votes, Muslim issues, and so on – are going to be ever more important for politicians as “BME” groups can now swing a general election results in this country away
from the wishes or long term interests of the majority of indigenous Britons.

Most of the “Subway” outlets will be owned, run and staffed with immigrants, Pakistanis, Blacks. The latter two often being Muslim.

The young and up to middle-aged Indigenous British are so hedonistic and drunk out of their tiny minds of a weekend that they eat Halal food all the time with kebabs and curries and chicken nuggets after a night out. So that sector is hardly likely to care.

Subway may have watched what happened when some KFC outlets decided to go
halal in confidence. There was a an outrage with KFC for a time…. people aware of halal and who cared about it boycotted some of the outlets for a short while.

Many folk in a town near me vowed to never set foot in one again. Yet, a year or so later I drive past the same place regularly – filled with whites buying halal chicken KFC.

Subway know that the majority of the British are too stupid, too hedonistic and too selfish to carry out any threats of lasting boycotts. They know they will still flock in to their
stores, whilst Subway continues to look after the future interests of their “new and
expanding market”. That market, by the way, is not ethnically British.

Besides, why do people expect companies -particularly globalist companies and chains – to give a monkey’s chuff about our cultures, traditions or values?

Like David Ashton said below in the comments, it is just a signal of the real size and power of the Muslim demographic here. It has to be much higher and much more skewed than the official sizes we get told.

  • Fr. John+

You just lost an entire family and parish, Subway. I purposely patronize establishments that serve pork- even though the G-D Hagarenes still show up occasionally (some followers of a phony creed!) But to kow-tow to them? I hope your profit margin dries up, and you close your doors. Traitors to Europe!

  • Magician

It is well-known that UK is the most black men and muslim friendly country in the world,

but what is the situation like in other parts of Europe nowadays such as Western Europe and Nordic countries nowadays?

I sometimes wonder why I rarely hear about any conflicts between the indigenous people and immigrant muslims in the Southern European countries such as Spain and Italy. I did hear that there are also many muslims in Southern Europe.

  • Magicmaninthesky Nothanks

Banning Ham and Bacon is “racism” against non-Muslims….it is pure “Infidelophobia”

    • Magicmaninthesky Nothanks

Subway will NEVER AGAIN pass these Infidel lips.

  • Magicmaninthesky Nothanks

LOL Bad grammar, must have been written by a Muslim. I guess they meant “substituted with or by” Or else “…..substituted for ham and bacon”

  • Magicmaninthesky Nothanks

Bottom line is this. Halal certification is a trillion dollar growth industry. Every time you support Halal products you are subsidising Islamist agendas worldwide – including terrorism.
