Jesse Jackson’s Futile Feud with Oxbridge

Jonathan Bronitsky, National Review, December 23, 2013

The 2013 film Admission is a comedy-drama about the professional and romantic trials of Portia Nathan (Tina Fey), an intrepid Princeton University admissions officer. At one point in the movie, Helen (SonyaWalger), an Englishwoman and eminent Virginia Woolf scholar from the University of Cambridge, takes a dig at Portia: “I’ll never really understand your admissions system in America, because we just do tests. You know, we don’t really care about your childhood or your recent conversion to Buddhism. Gray matter—that’s what counts.”

Helen has reason to be smug about her British pedigree. For the better part of the past millennium, the University of Oxford (founded in 1096) and its perennial rival, the University of Cambridge (founded in 1209), have survived with admissions schemes based entirely on intellectual merit—and wholly devoid of “affirmative action” policies. But more than having merely survived, the two oldest English-speaking institutions of higher learning in the world have prospered. They have inspired an endless list of prodigious minds, tendered innumerable contributions to human civilization, and, not surprisingly, consistently claimed top spots in global academic rankings.

Yet, for the Reverend Jesse Jackson, a captain of the American race industry, “Oxbridge”—as Oxford and Cambridge are collectively known—is not up to snuff. During a recent trip to England, he asserted that “the absence of blacks diminishes the greatness of these universities.” In turn, he called on the country to implement “positive access” to increase the number of ethnic minorities at elite institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge.

Jackson is destined to lose this fight—badly—for three reasons. First, as social-democratic as Britain may be, a streak of big-L Liberalism (akin to conservatism in the American political spectrum of today) still runs through its national ethos, one that cherishes merit and individual liberty and, therefore, prefers equality of opportunity to equality of outcome. Indeed, British law generally prohibits quotas for “protected characteristics,” such as age, race, and sex, in education, employment, and association. Oxford and Cambridge—rightfully so—spend millions of dollars annually on outreach programs to recruit the brightest students from underrepresented backgrounds. Commitment to “widening participation,”noted Jon Beard, director of undergraduate recruitment at Cambridge, “is a matter of social responsibility and enlightened self-interest, not a consequence of external targets or political pressure.”

That Jackson has largely disregarded context, the fact that “diversity” in Britain has traditionally been far more about class than race, is the second reason he is heading toward defeat. {snip}

And the third reason that Jackson is bound to look a fool? Reality—plain and simple. Oxford and Cambridge’s enduring record of excellence obliterates the pervasive left-wing notion, propagated by organizations such as the Washington Higher Education Secretariat, that “diversity” is essential to an exceptional education as well as the moral enlightenment of a student body. By this point, probably no one harbors misgivings about the quality of the curricula that have yielded Oxbridge’s vast intellectual achievements.

As for Oxbridge undergraduates themselves, I doubt that anyone—save perhaps Jackson and the other most zealous crusaders of multiculturalism—believes that they are maladjusted brutes due to the absence of affirmative action on their campuses. “I’m concerned that when 21 colleges at Oxbridge took no black students last year,” Jackson said, “the students are being cheated of a multicultural and multiracial experience in a world that is multicultural and multiracial.” {snip}

In Jackson’s mind, what percentage of Oxbridge’s constituency must be black in order to achieve a true state of egalitarianism? In 2012, 215 candidates who self-identified as “Black or Black British—African,” “Black or Black British—Caribbean,” and “Other Black background” applied to Oxford. Of those, 22 were successful, representing less than 1 percent of all (2,695) acceptances. At Cambridge, 190 candidates who self-identified as “Black Caribbean,” “Black African,” and “Black Other” applied. Of those, 28 were successful, representing approximately 1 percent of all (2,593) acceptances. As a point of reference, 3 percent (1.9 million) of the British population (63 million) is black or black British. {snip}

There should never be any diversity when it comes to superior intelligence. More is better.

Blacks should be ashamed to demand affirmative action. Those demands draw attention to their intellectual deficiencies.

    • Max Krakah

Their intellect is deficient to the point where they do not understand how their asking for lower standards in order to gain entrance shows them to be of lower calibre.

      • Franklin_Ryckaert

Stupid people are too stupid to understand their own stupidity.

        • haroldcrews

I’m not sure if it’s stupidity or mendacity. It requires extreme stupidity or deviousness to demand special privileges for the sake of ‘equality’. Some demand it out of stupidity but some do so for other reasons.

        • GeneticsareDestiny

That is called the Dunning–Kruger effect.

    • Erasmus

For his next trick “Reverend” Jack$on should demand that there be proportionate numbers of Asian-Americans in American football and basketball at the college and professional levels.

    • FransSusan

It absolutely does! Not only that, but because of affirmative action I never trust a “professional” black person to have any real intelligence or education. They’re given everything from cradle to grave—meaning they don’t have to earn anything such as a college degree.

      • Mark

I will second that. As an engineer i have worked with blacks in the past. In all cases they were lazy and absolutely useless. Unfortunately the companies were afraid to fire them.

    • TheAntidote

They’re not ashamed at all because they’ve been taught that “all men are created equal” and the only thing that’s keeping them from learning and achieving is the White man’s raycizm. Oxbridge is White supremacy in action; the House of Windsor itself is rayciz White supremacy. Queen Latifah should sit on the throne.

    • GeneticsareDestiny

Yes, they should be ashamed. It also diminishes the accomplishments of those rare blacks with high IQs who are capable of succeeding on their own merit.

When dealing with these blacks, whites always have to wonder if they got their position through AA. If AA didn’t exist, we wouldn’t have to wonder that. We would know they got it through merit.

      • JohnEngelman

I am old enough to remember that when a black man was successful everyone knew he had to really be superior to achieve his success.

    • Cold_Gravy

Skin colour trumps ability in their minds. Only when it works against them (race) do they complain.

    • Bantu_Education

“Blacks should be ashamed to demand affirmative action.”

      Only (genuine) humans feel “shame”.

  • Evette Coutier

Jesse, give up your day job and go into comedy. You are certainly the joke of the century.

    • Erasmus

Kooky leftists age poorly. The same ideas that made them look so cutting edge and brave in their salad days show them to be mad as hatters when they grow long in the tooth.

Bismarck said it best: “A man who isn’t a socialist when he is twenty has no heart. A man who is a socialist when he’s thirty has no brain.”

    • FransSusan

I think he shares that title with Al $harpton.

      • Bantu_Education

“During a recent trip to England, he asserted that “the absence of blacks diminishes the greatness of these universities.””

There must be a “professional” rivalry between these 2 parasites trying to outdo each other in unearthing examples of white racism in every nook and cranny. His whole purpose in making this trip to England was “planned” so he could say – “look what I found”..! It was a pre-meditated racist assault on Oxbridge.

  • John Smith

“the absence of blacks diminishes the greatness of these universities.”

So says the carnival barking, rhyming reverend.

Collectively, the PRESENCE of blacks DIMINISHES the greatness of our schools, neighborhoods, cities…our country !

  • shmo123

Jackson doesn’t have the intellect to get into any school approaching the standards of “Oxbridge”. His highest academic accomplishment was a B.S. in Sociology from some historically black college and he dropped out of grad school.

    • Erika525

Jackson enrolled in the U of Illinois in 1960 and was soon kicked out for plagiarism. He claimed that departed since he was recruited to play football–as quarterback–but left when he realized that Illinois would never permit a black quarterback. There is no record of him trying out for the team and that year Illinois did, in fact, have a black quarterback. Today, of course, that would not happen–plagiarism is now tolerated for black students.

      • jane johnson

MLK set the standard for plagiarism, so it is now considered a civil right.

        • Erika525

If you can find it, read Ted Pappas, Plagiarism and the Culture Wars. A remarkable book about King–he was a career plagiarist, including the “I have a Dream Speech.” Ted had a very difficult time getting the book published (and reviewed). Finally, it was issued by a Florida firm specializing in industrial soap.

There was a book that defended King’s plagiarism by claiming insisting that King was following the African tradition of oral history and in that custom, there was no such thing as “plagiarism.” All knowledge was held in common.

          • robinbishop34

“…the African tradition of oral history “

That’s code for the ‘African tradition’ of never having developed written language.

          • Franklin_Ryckaert

What about the African tradition of building pyramids, the invention of philosophy and science etc. etc. (all “stolen” by Whites of course!).

          • robinbishop34

Everyone knows that sub-Saharan blacks are the wellspring of advanced civilization.

        • Lord_Steven_Regal

Alex Haley, of “Roots” fame, was also a plagiarist including his most famous work.

    • Katherine McChesney

The dumbest black man I ever met was a shameless homosexual and had a degree in Sociology from some small town college Memphis. He couldn’t even explain to me what Sociology meant. But, he was proficient in ebonics.

      • Cold_Gravy

“…he was proficient in ebonics.”. That’s all it takes. Plus black skin. Collect your degree on the way in bro…

  • Whitetrashgang

Well when those Black universities start letting in whites, close them all down and put up a Mcdonalds with the picture cash register and hire Jesse.

  • Geo1metric

It is uplifting to note that there is still some sanity left in what is left of the White world.

I thought the absence of blacks WAS/IS greatness.

  • cecilhenry

Race hustler of the highest order.

Nations have a right to insist their own people be represented in their institutions and those institutions serve only them.

Jesse JAckson would not have it any other way when it comes to black interests.

Jackson is angry because something he envies and covets does not current serve his ethnic interests and idea of justice.

You could summarize his attitude and assumption in one line:

Africa for Africans, Asia for Asians, White Countries for Everyone!!!!

    Enough with these anti-white attitudes.

  • Alexandra1973

I hope they just tell him to sod off.

    • Katherine McChesney

LOL. Thank you Alexandra. I LOVE the British expressions.

This is just terrible. Hollywood should make a fictional movie about a brilliaint black student who is accepted to Oxford. When he arrives, all of the white males (who talk like Thurston Howell) are abusive to him. The hero beats them all in academics and sports. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful blond British girl, played by Brittany Spears (with fake accent). Madonna (with fake accent) plays the grandmother. John Cleese will play the bumbling professor. Robert Deniro will be play wise janitor. Someone call George Lucas, this will be great. Then we can sell affirmative action to Oxford.

    • DonReynolds

I had rather watch a 30 second commercial of you being shot by firing squad. Not with real bullets necessarily, and lots of fake blood and a nationalist tune in the background would do nicely. Then the entire firing squad can break into laughter. Fade to black.

    • TheAntidote

I like it but it needs development….how about setting it in the good old bad old days of 1840s slavery? The hero can be a prince in flowing robes from an African kingdom. Evil plantation crackers will sail a slave ship up the Cam and abduct the prince. While enslaved the prince will instruct the crackers in cotton, indigo and rice production as well as modern methods of business administration.

    • Bantu_Education

They could call it “Guess who’s coming to Oxford”.

Jesse Jackson, bringing his race baiting to the shores of England now and yet, this is the country that won’t allow Micheal Savage to enter.

So two of the best known universities in the world would be even better if they admit more people from the land of the low IO?

So, how exactly does that work then?

  • Erasmus

Jesse Jackson’s feud with Oxbridge. Pathetic or laugh-out-loud funny?

The evidence this side of the pond demonstrates that rather than improving education, kowtowing to diversity has made it worse, with the erstwhile mission of colleges and universities to educate taking a backseat to making American campuses culturally diverse. (vomit) So, three cheers for Oxford and Cambridge for telling this Nubian fascist to get stuffed. Let him pimp his failed ideas elsewhere.

  • Conrad

I still believe that we will not get out of all this PC nonsense by talking alone. We did not get into this by reasonable words and reasonable words will not get us out.

    • DonReynolds

I have said it many times the past two decades….. WHAT IS LEFT TO SAY, THAT WE HAVE NOT ALREADY SAID MANY TIMES?
To have our culture, we must protect it and keep it.

    • Cold_Gravy

You’re right. The elites are quite content so long as we just talk.

  • Irishgirl

Well, blacks can just go to one of those top-notch, illustrious universities in Africa then.

    • IstvanIN

      • sshadow

These fine young Titans of Academe would be a credit to either Oxbridge. The piercing gaze of the two on the left suggests that they could wreck the curve on any Physics test you could throw at them. Any suggestion that they superficially resemble Chimps does not deserve to see the light of day, and is not worthy of civilized discourse.

        • Franklin_Ryckaert

We are considering suing you for defamation of Chimpansees.

          Abe Chimpman

When I was in college we called guys like these ‘anchors’, for their salutary effect in maintaining the grading curve.

      • Guest

Is that gun the famous African made “IQ 47”?

      • Erasmus

Let me guess. They all majored in black studies.

  • ….. he asserted that “the absence of blacks diminishes the greatness of these universities.” … “the students are being cheated of a multicultural and multiracial experience in a world that is multicultural and multiracial.”

In other words, not enough White women being raped.

    • Erasmus

When one comes from a race whose median IQ hovers around 85, there aren’t going to be many of one’s kind who can get into elite schools on academic performance.

  • Franklin_Ryckaert

“The students ARE BEING CHEATED of a multicultural and multiracial experience in a world that is multicultural and multiracial.”

Does this cretin not understand that there are millions of Whites who LIKE to be so “cheated”?

    • newscomments70

being cheated out of assault, rape and mutliation? sounds good to me.

    • Cold_Gravy

Here are some of those lovely little multi-culties.

I for one will be happy to miss out on this experience.

  • Massif1

There are no African-American studies in Oxford and Cambridge? Good.

    • DonReynolds

HeHe…..are you kidding. The last I heard, Oxford does not teach any history more recent than 1600 AD….because they feel not enough time has passed to be objective in the study of history. I seriously doubt they will add Negro Folk Dance to the summer classes either.

    • Katherine McChesney

Seems like our savages are different from the British black.

  • Cold_Gravy

When Whites tell non-Whites what to do in their own countries there are screams of White supremacist, imperialist, colonialist, Nazi etc etc….

Yet they feel free to tell others (Whites) what to do in their own countries.

Jackson should shut up about our country.

Why can’t these blacks set up their own universities, the way Whites did?

    • DonReynolds

Even the best of the black colleges and universities, were not set up by blacks. They were created by Liberal Whites working for the Federal Freedmen’s Bureau after the Civil War.

      • IstvanIN

        Here goes…..

      • Cold_Gravy

Quite so Don. Quite so. But this guy, I imagine as a lot of them do, calls himself an African American. Whatever that is. (You’re one or the other.)

The two universities he speaks of aren’t African or American. He claims he wants to make them better??????

When Europeans were foolish enough to set foot on that continent, some four hundred years ago, they hadn’t even invented the wheel. (spinney roundy things to them) That would have made things better. Yet they couldn’t be bothered. Because they aren’t interested in such things. They want their people at the top despite not being able to run things and make them better.

How about Jess going to Africa and making things better there? If he took all of his fellow blacks with him that would make America better also?

  • DonReynolds

I had one of those multi-racial and multi-cultural experiences in college. Tell Jesse Jackson…. IT AIN’T THAT GREAT. I could have missed it entirely.

    • DonReynolds

But I figured out how to completely avoid being in the same classes with blacks ……studied mathematics, economics, and statistics. Never saw any blacks in graduate school. Plenty of Asians.

  • The Man from Shiloh

Having blacks in ANY university diminishes its greatness…unless you place a value on sports, then, it seems, that’s all the university is there for (according to some people I can think of).

  • bigone4u

Never miss an opportunity to play the race guard. What a piece of #*!!#**.

    • Franklin_Ryckaert

There is no business like race business.

  • crockadoodle6

I’m curious. Who paid for Brother Jackson’s trip across the Atlantic?

Wouldn’t it be nice if blacks acted like geese and flew home for the season?

    • Cold_Gravy

Who usually pays for people to attack Whites?
      The tribe.

  • humura

Don’t be too certain. British law may forbid racial quotas, but so did American law. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 explicitly forbade quotas, but liberal Republican Nixon made affirmative action quotas national policy under euphemisms like “goals and timetables.” There are capable Black intellectuals, but they can pass the exams, and need no racial preferences.

    • Cold_Gravy

We do have racist quotas in Britain. They may not call them that, but they do exist. The Labour government of the day also created a sinister organisation perversely called the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC headed by a black, naturally). To check up.

On one occasion they sent out two thousand job bogus applications to ensure that minorities weren’t being discriminated against.

They never sent any bogus job applications out to ensure White, heterosexual, British people weren’t being discriminated against. yet this is the case. We are!

So discriminate against minorities = bad.
      Discriminate against Whites = ok.

I don’t recall how many Whites worked for this organisation, but it was less than 10 %. Now there’s equality for you. Jess would be proud.

I wonder which Uni the blacks below graduated from?

  • Strike_Team

How often do any of you out there run into a black person who truly possess a high degree of intelligence? A keen intellect?

I have, but it is indeed rare. It is the same with way Hispanics. Meaning the non-whites. I have met the so-called “white Hispanics”, as I understand them to be. They were like the rest of the population, they ran the gamut when it came to cognitive abilities. Asians too. In school, I met Asians who were intelligent of course, not a few of them seemed to be of a type of person you meet here and there among the white population, a person who is academically intelligent, but a bit slow on the pick-up if they aren’t in an academic setting. But pleasant nonetheless. I won’t get into the structure of their intelligence vs the structure of the intelligence of whites, it doesn’t matter here.

What matters here is having the qualifications. Say in the US that Asians put in the most work, study more than anyone else. Do they? Yes, they do. The amount of time they spend on studying after school is impressive. Do they have a huge number of people getting good grades and test scores? Sure. So they do deserve to go to college. Period. This is not the place to argue about comparing whites vs an Asian with equal scores. Lets just say here, for the sake of argument, good grades + good test scores = college.

Whites who do sit down and study and do well get into college. Again, lets not get into whites being denied Ivy League admissions, having it buried under another group, now getting admitted to those and other top institutions while no longer having to have the grades or test scores that are top notch. Lets just say that whites get into college.

Then we get to blacks, and for that matter, Hispanics. Do they have to have top tier grades and test scores to get into the top schools in the US. No. Are they favored ahead of all other groups when it comes to being admitted? Yes, they are favored ahead of all but one group most of the time. A quick side note I should mention are some “Hispanic whites” I know now play the race card with their children’s paperwork when it comes to school. Since they have “Hispanic” names, their kids are listed as “Hispanic” when it comes to race, and they usually ignore or do not check the “Hispanic white” (or similar) box on said paperwork. This has helped ensure their kids, who have been deserving, get into the schools they wish them to attend. Name alone. Some of these kids have blue eyes, blonde hair, but they are “Hispanic”.

After all this mess I’ve written, I have one question; who is responsible for this? Certainly not Jesse Jackson. He doesn’t possess the brainpower. Blunt sure, but true. It isn’t the mestizo and Indio Hispanic leaders we’ve seen. I know for the most part who is responsible. Ok, two groups are responsible. One of them is cowardly, greedy politicians who couldn’t say no to a buck, and who buckled under to lobbies from the other group responsible for this. The architects. That’s who we should be concerned with. Not Jesse “I heard someone say n*!##^r” Jackson. He can go to hell.

    • Erasmus

In my entire life I’ve met only two blacks who I can say had a keen intellect. Most still strike me as borderline retarded, and most of those held up as intellectually gifted would be considered, if they were white or Asian, of average intelligence.

    • Brian

I’ve met 20-30 blacks around Atlanta who I’d judge to have an IQ of at least 115. Of course there are a lot of them to choose from in these parts. Most of them have been either African immigrants, the cream of the crop from Nigeria or Cameroon, who came here for university– highly selected, not representative– or obvious mulattoes. This 20-30 number is still a very small percentage of the total number of blacks I’ve crossed paths with.

      • Bantu_Education

I would wager they were not as smart as you thought. Its easy to be fooled by their gregariousness and fast-talking ability which implies a much greater intelligence than they actually possess. Muhammad Ali (IQ 79) is a classic example.

        • Brian

I am certain they were. Half of them were at Georgia Tech in engineering programs. They could not have even been admitted without an IQ of 115 or so. The other half are a small number out of thousands of blacks I’ve come across in Atlanta, which tends to attract some of the ‘talented tenth’ types also. The percentage corresponds roughly to what the bell curve distribution would predict for a mean of 85 and standard deviation of 12.

          • Bantu_Education

Undoubtedly there are “thousands of blacks” in Atlanta, but how exactly did you as an individual white person “come across” so many? How did you get to meet and assess “20-30 blacks with IQ’s of at least 115”? I would imagine that would have involved interviewing several thousand.

          • Brian

I can roughly assess someone’s IQ with a minute of conversation, and sometimes just with a glance at body language and facial expression, or overhearing a bit of their speech. And of course I get a better idea with further exposure. It does not require an ‘interview’ to figure out A has 80, B has 90, C has 100… I have met at least 10,000 people in my life so far, and ATL is about half black. So finding a few handfuls of 115+ blacks is expected, and it does not require the administration of Wechsler or Raven Progressive Matrices. As I said, the simple fact of a black man sitting next to me in third year electromagnetism tells me a minimum IQ score. I’m not saying this is common, but it does happen.

  • Katherine McChesney

    Black logic.

It is truly amazing how dumb blacks are….especially the leaders of the ‘black grievance committee’.

    • DonReynolds

Being from Nashville, I can say, that is pretty low.

      • Katherine McChesney

I’m also from Nashville and have a history working with black ‘doctorates’ from TSU. Words cannot express exactly how incompetent they were. Their company folded in just over a year after receiving federal grant money meant to open a drug treatment program. One of their PhD’s spoke only in ebonics.

LOL, if ever anyone had anything completely backward it’s this idiot Jackson. The success of anything, company, university, town, gas station, maid service, babysitting service – you name it – is inversely proportional to the number of black people involved. If it highly successful, then there is a low representation of blacks. If unsuccessful, then it is staffed by a large number of them. These lies amaze me.

  • MBlanc46

Old Jesse just keeps on making a fool of himself. You’d have that that maybe he’d keep a low profile after his reprehensible namesake got himself incarcerated for corruption. I’ve known and worked with some Cantabs and Oxonians. They were razor sharp. You just don’t get through the tutorial system unless you can think fast on your feet. Blather and BS do not cut it. Not one in 500 Negroes would have the nous to make it through. It’s doing them a favor to keep them from being humiliated.

Everything in our society should be “based entirely on intellectual merit—and wholly devoid of “affirmative action” policies.” That’s the only way to save our civilization.

  • A Freespeechzone

Jackson just wants to force mediocrity on the most prestigeous colleges in the UK like he’s done in the USA.

Good for the Brits rebuffing Jackson….his ranting is falling on deaf ears.

  • ssviking

I can just see jessie walking around in London with a powdered wig and a eye monical saying ” why their aren’t any bantus here that’s just preposterous!”

  • OhWow

    dey needz mo duhvercity mang!

  • Skip Wellington

Sadly, only a select few can grasp the intellectual rhymes that the reverend jackson spews.

    • Yancy Derringer

He’s a bit wanting in the elocution department, isn’t he?

  • Yancy Derringer

    Your second sentence… Seriously?

  • Cold_Gravy

I wanna go to that Oxford school.

    • robinbishop34

      No… that’s pronounced ‘skoo.’

      • Cold_Gravy

If that’s how she pronounces school. Then, I’m afraid she won’t be going to Oxford.

        • robinbishop34

If this woman ever graces the halls of Oxford it will be behind a mop.

          • Cold_Gravy

Even the humble Mrs Mops are, somewhat, better educated.

          • IstvanIN

She has the mop on her head.

      • Morris65

        And it’s “wants”….not “wanna”!

    • rogerinflorida

There is no damn way I am the same species as that!

  • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

Someone here, I think it was QD, said that blacks should simply be issued doctorates at birth. I tend to agree with that. It would be more honest, and since they’d have no incentive to attend school, non-black teachers and students could get on with learning without the dead weight of Africans weighing them down.

  • Fighting_Northern_Spirit

I have to take issue with this bit: Gray matter—that’s what counts at Oxford and Cambridge. Not entirely. Both schools are also repositories of numbskulls from the UK upper classes, who tend to blather on about the virtues of Marxism of all things.

  • humura

I do not recall the details, but the American Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) had a similar scandal some years ago. The number of minorities employed there is far above their (quota) proportion, and I forget the details, but some white employees sued claiming discrimination, and they won.
Bottom line in both nations is as you said: it is good to discriminate against whites, and criminal to discriminate against minorities (even if they are lesser or unqualified).

  • crockadoodle6

A couple of observations. What is complicating this issue is the interbreeding between whites and blacks. Unfortunately, unlike the mule which results from a donkey and horse and is sterile, the spawn of the human version is fertile…and slightly smarter than the pure homo africanus. Look at the IQ curves and the blacker the dumber….
Another observation is that virtually all public colleges in the US use the same textbooks and have the same course opportunities. The idea of a Harvard education at $50K/yr is more valuable than a $3K/yr education at Univ of Ga. is BS. People that pay for first class plane travel arrive at the same destination at the same time but have paid twice as much for a couple of ‘free’ diet cokes and 8″ of gluteus room.

  • Bantu_Education

If Britain is 3% black and 1% are getting into Oxbridge then I’d say they are doing much better than expected. However I suspect that most of the blacks selected are not from Britain at all, but are the intellectual cream of Africa.

    • Katherine McChesney

Maybe THEIR blacks are smarter than OUR blacks.

      (shades of Ann Coulter)

  • rogerinflorida

    Obviously you didn’t study English.

  • Kevin W. Cornell

That is a travesty as well. Affirmative action for white women has contributed to the decline of the white family and our below-replacement fertility levels. It’s also contributed to the feminization of our educational and corporate world – all at the expense of men.

    • Franklin_Ryckaert

It was planned that way. The aim was to destroy the family, increase depopulation and widen the tax basis. For more information go to : How the Rockefellers re-engineered women, Henry Makow.

  • NoMosqueHere

i suppose Jackson and the affirmative action crew have a right to ask why so few blacks are admitted to elite schools such as Oxbridge. But there are only two possible explanations: one, whites discriminate against blacks; or two, blacks are less qualified than whites. Explanation one is not true: PC liberal white school admins bend over backwards and expend great resources to locate qualified blacks, and moreover it is illegal and unethical to discriminate. So that leaves Explanation two as the only viable explanation.

    • Bantu_Education

After this criticism from Je$$e I guarantee that when we look again, in say 3 years time, the black % intake will have doubled to at least 2%. Anyone want to best that I’m wrong???

As the remedy rationale for racial preferences has become more obviously untenable, its proponents have increasingly relied on the argument that it provides a needed educational “diversity.” Selection of students by race, however, provides “diversity” in nothing but race. … If diversity of views or experience were the objective, one would expect to see a preference for foreign students or members of minority religions, which is not the case.

The many arguments once offered for racially preferential admission to institutions of higher education — biased tests, remedy, diversity, role models, etc. — have more recently come
down to a single one: “We can’t have” (i.e., it is not politically feasible to have) “an all white institution.” …

  • Cold_Gravy

Yes that was noted, by many people.

  • Cold_Gravy

That remark was made tongue in cheek. I don’t regard them as capable of much at all.

Now that they run the electricity board the lights only go on for 4 hours per day.

  • Terry DeCarlo

Yeah, and Jesse Jackson, Sr. DEMANDED that Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr. would have gone to Cambridge or Oxford if they weren’t so racist against blacks. Well, that is before JJ Jr. went to prison. Ooops.
