10 Students in Custody After Brawl at Overbrook High School; 3 Injured

CBS Philly, November 18, 2013

Investigators say 10 students were taken into custody after a massive brawl at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia.

The brawl, which was captured on cell phone video, allegedly began over a post on social media.

{snip}

As a result of the incident, two students suffered minor injuries. A school administrator also suffered a minor leg injury.

“It’s mayhem. Students are in the halls, they’re smoking in the bathroom; cigarettes, marijuana,” said a worker at the school, who asked not to be identified. “We can’t contain them and it’s really hazardous for us working and these kids are not being educated at all.”

{snip}

Only three hours after the initial brawl, the unidentified school worker captured cell phone video of students running across tables in the cafeteria to witness another fight.

“It’s a zoo in here. Parents really need to come up here and see what’s going on in this school because it’s ridiculous,” said the worker.

{snip}

The high school was placed on lockdown.

[Editor’s Note: According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2010 Overbrook High School was 97 percent black, 1 percent Hispanic, and 1 percent white.]

They need to rename this school. I suggest Overbrook Youth Detention Facility.

      I like Obama HS better

Somehow, my high school managed to drop a quarter of its staff without this happening.

    • Garrett Brown

Hmm, wonder where that high school is?!!!

  • shmo123

They should arrest the parents of the 3% who are not black for cruelty and child abuse.

    • Sick of it

Having been that 3% at one point in my life, I can tell you that it has more to do with being poor than anything else.

      • Kenner

I grew up in a gummint housing project. Almost no blacks in it back then.

My blackdar is going off, hot and heavy.

    And for the final scene:

Great Schools reports that this school is 97% black.

Abraham Lincoln wanted his racial equality so badly that he took a little more than two minutes and 272 words 150 years ago today to reconstruct the Constitution and founding documents around the concept. The results? 150 years into the future, 140 miles to the east.

This is all true, but anymore “Philly” will do. Do white people even live there anymore?

      • pizza42

Only the stupid white people in Philly are the ones waiting for the city to come back! I think it’s done!

        • MBlanc46

It’s ours. We built it. We should take it back.

          • Mergatroyd

I applaud your sentiment, MBlanc46, and agree with you 100%, but how do you propose we do that?
We’ve already lost Detroit and other once-white cities. The problem is dealing with the non-white population.
The only solution is the one Colonel Kurtz used: “Kill them all.”
            Worked for him.

Drove through it a few times. Plenty of bicycle-riding hipster liberals. Even caught a few of them touching themselves, getting off on the diversity factor. Ok ok, that’s not true, but you get the idea.

        • john boggs

Just spoke with a buddy of mine today who owns an apartment building in Fishtown, which is in the midst of gentrification. Of the five units, four are rented by hipsters from the Midwest. I couldn’t believe he knew what a hipster was. The one dude saw my buddy’s add on Craigslist for a rental and moved from Kansas. They can’t get enough of that “urban grit”. Fishtown went from being a tough, working class Irish neighborhood to Melrose Place in less than 10 years.

“Fishtown went from being a tough, working class Irish neighborhood to Melrose Place in less than 10 years.”

Sad to hear. Disgusting in fact.

Say what…? Lincoln said that there were differences between us and blacks that prevented us from living together under terms of equality.

      • Sick of it

That’s why he got shot on orders from his radical friends so they could reconstruct the nation. Not that Andrew Johnson went along with their plans, so they had to wait until they could thrust Grant upon us in the political realm.

  • Brian

I bet all the ones who keep showing up will graduate…i.e. social promotion. So much for the value of the diploma. Looks like they need some cattle prods to maintain a semblance of order.

    • Sick of it

I’m sure the administration is less than useless. Security is probably a joke. Teachers in places like that have to deal with a war zone.

In a 97-percent black school?! No!

  • Dave4088

This goes on at most high schools with a black majority, so I’m surprised it’s even news anymore. Africa is where Africans are and blacks are simply not equipped to live in a first world, white nation.

  • capnmorgan5150

It’s not that the school is “understaffed”, is “overly black”.

    “It’s a zoo in here….”

This is an ignorant and hate filled comment. Yes there are a few poorly run zoos, where the animals are not properly confined and care for, but these zoos are the exception. Most zoos are well run; the animals do not fight or destroy the facility.

    • Kenner

Zoos breed endangered species. Reserve your spot now!

    • Sick of it

I’ve had a good time petting some of the most dangerous animals on earth in a zoo, on safari, etc. Animals don’t usually kill a person out of nowhere. Animals don’t kill people just because they feel like killing.

When a critical tipping point is reached with black enrollment is a school, it becomes a zoo. It doesn’t take many of them–probably just two to disrupt anything resembling education. Martial law needs to be applied, with those FEMA caskets stacked up high outside school grounds as a grisly warning to the “students/thugs” to shape if (if they can).

    • Whitetrashgang

I wonder what the real percentage of black students turns a school into a jail? I would guess 7 percent or more.

      • Jesse James

My experience says you lose it (freedom, civilization, competent institutional functioning) at about 30%,

    • texasoysterman

Too bad those FEMA caskets aren’t meant for the “student/thugs.”
      They’re reserved for US.

  • Whitetrashgang

You mean these students would know who their parents are? As for zoo more like a beginners jail. These students should be taught classes like how to shank someone or how to cook in your cell. Also full classes on how to escape, murder and get away with it, credit card fraud etc.

  • Alexandra1973

They don’t need to learn it from anywhere, it’s in their blood .

      • Garrett Brown

Posted mine before I saw this. Well stated.

    • JohnEngelman

Most of those students are illegitimate children. Many do not know who their fathers are. Many of their mothers are not sure either.

      • Whitetrashgang

Funny but true.It makes you wonder if blacks never had two parent families in Africa why does any expect them to have them here?

        • libertarian1234

“……..blacks never had two parent families in Africa why does any expect them to have them here?”

          Right on.

Also they lived a near stone-age existence for 5000 years, never inventing a written language or even the wheel, nor did they ever evolve to a simple agrarian society involving anything but a small garden.

Similarly, I ask why does anybody expect them to be able to contribute anything worthwhile in an advanced society or achieve any kind of success just because they changed locations?

        • Kenner

‘It takes a village’– the reason why is the ‘low-investment’ parenting practiced by Africans. Have a lot of kids, don’t waste resources on rearing them, some will survive anyway.

          • Non Humans

It takes a village has evolved to “It Takes a Welfare-Police State”….and then some.

        • JohnEngelman

The institution of marriage is universal among human cultures. However, in some cultures successful man have been allowed more than one wife.

In tribal cultures, like that of the Bantu, success was measured mainly by success in war. The best warriors had the most sons. That helps to explain why blacks have a high murder rate everywhere they live.

        • ms_anthro

Because the multicultists are such White supremacists that they can’t imagine letting Africans be African, in Africa. No, they must be held to White standards of conduct and culture, even if they’re incapable of meeting them.

It’s a repackaged version of the White Man’s Burden, brought to us by the Ministry of Love and Tolerance.

      • Alexandra1973

I have to ask, would it even matter with blacks if they did have their father in the home?

        • JohnEngelman

Of course it would. One of the reasons single mothers are more likely to raise violent street criminals than married women is that they have more trouble controlling unruly sons without the help of a man.

        • Anna Tree

Maybe you are interested in reading the article “Love Isn’t
Enough: 5 Reasons Why Same-Sex Marriage Harms Children” by Trayce Hansen. It is about homosexual adoption but essentially about the fact that children need a mother AND a father. Here is my sum-up:

All else being equal, children do best when raised by a married mother and father. It’s within this environment that children are most likely to be exposed to the emotional and psychological experiences they need in order to thrive.

Men and women bring diversity to parenting; each makes unique contributions to the rearing of children that can’t be replicated by the other. Mothers and fathers simply are not interchangeable. Two women can both be good mothers, but neither can be a good father.

So here are five reasons why it’s in the best interest of children to be raised by both a mother and a father:

First, mother-love and father-love—though equally important—are qualitatively different and produce distinct parent-child attachments. Specifically, it’s the combination of the unconditional-leaning love of a mother and the conditional-leaning love of a father that’s essential to a child’s development.

          […]

Secondly, children progress through predictable and necessary
developmental stages. Some stages require more from a mother, while others require more from a father. For example, during infancy, babies of both sexes tend to do better in the care of their mother. Mothers are more attuned to the subtle needs of their infants and thus are more appropriately responsive. However, at some point, if a young boy is to become a competent man, he must detach from his mother and instead identify with
his father. A fatherless boy doesn’t have a man with whom to identify and is more likely to have trouble forming a healthy masculine identity.

A father teaches a boy how to properly channel his aggressive and sexual drives. A mother can’t show a son how to control his impulses because she’s not a man and doesn’t have the same urges as one. A father also commands a form of respect from a boy that a mother doesn’t––a respect more likely to keep the boy in line. And those are the two primary reasons why boys without fathers are more likely to become delinquent and end up incarcerated.

Father-need is also built into the psyche of girls. There are times in a girl’s life when only a father will do. For instance, a father offers a daughter a safe, non-sexual place to experience her first male-female relationship and have her femininity affirmed. When a girl doesn’t have a father to fill that role she’s more likely to become promiscuous in a misguided attempt to satisfy her inborn hunger for male attention and validation.

Overall, fathers play a restraining role in the lives of their children. They restrain sons from acting out antisocially, and daughters from acting out sexually. When there’s no father to perform this function, dire consequences often result both for the fatherless children and for the society in which these children act out their losses.

Third, boys and girls need an opposite-sexed parent to help them moderate their own gender-linked inclinations. As example, boys generally embrace reason over emotion, rules over relationships, risk-taking over caution, and
standards over compassion, while girls generally embrace the reverse. An
opposite-sexed parent helps a child keep his or her own natural
proclivities in check by teaching—verbally and nonverbally—the worth of
the opposing tendencies. That teaching not only facilitates moderation,
but it also expands the child’s world—helping the child see beyond his
or her own limited vantage point.

          Fourth, same-sex marriage will
increase sexual confusion and sexual experimentation by young people.
The implicit and explicit message of same-sex marriage is that all
choices are equally acceptable and desirable. So, even children from
          traditional homes—influenced by the all-sexual-options-are-equal
message—will grow up thinking it doesn’t matter whom one relates to
sexually or marries. Holding such a belief will lead some—if not
many—impressionable young people to consider sexual and marital
arrangements they never would have contemplated previously. And children
from homosexual families, who are already more likely to experiment
sexually, would do so to an even greater extent, because not only was
non-traditional sexuality role-modeled by their parents, it was also
          approved by their society.

There is no question that human sexuality is pliant.[…] That which a society sanctions, it gets more of.

          And
fifth, if society permits same-sex marriage, it also will have to allow
other types of marriage. The legal logic is simple: If prohibiting
same-sex marriage is discriminatory, then disallowing polygamous
marriage, polyamorous marriage, or any other marital grouping will also
be deemed discriminatory. The emotional and psychological ramifications
of these assorted arrangements on the developing psyches and sexuality
of children would be disastrous. […]

          Certainly homosexual
couples can be just as loving as heterosexual couples, but children
require more than love. They need the distinctive qualities and the
complementary natures of a male and female parent.

          The
accumulated wisdom of over 5,000 years has concluded that the ideal
marital and parental configuration is composed of one man and one
woman.Arrogantly disregarding such time-tested wisdom, and using
children as guinea pigs in a radical experiment, is risky at best, and
          cataclysmic at worst.

Same-sess marriage definitely isn’t in the
best interest of children. And although we empathize with those
homosexuals who long to be married and parent children, we mustn’t allow
our compassion for them to trump our compassion for children. In a
contest between the desires of some homosexuals and the needs of all
children, we can’t allow the children to lose.

      • Critic_of_Leviathan

I taught at one of the feeder schools to this high school (Overbrook). Not only are you correct, but some of the 7th and 8th graders were already PARENTS of illegitimate children. About 20% of the kids I taught had someone other than their biological parents as their legal guardians.

Believe me, I was cured of any residual white guilt.

BLACKS: THE CANCER THAT KILLED AMERICA

blacks are a cancer on America.

they started out as a neoplastic growth in the south. the cancer slowly metastasized northward. the states are analogous to the body’s organs. the black cancer slowly spread to every organ making the country sicker and sicker. the immune system tried to fight back by walling the cancer in jails and prisons but to no avail. the auto immune system (white police and media; leftist progressives) enabled the cancer as an auto-immune disease making the symptoms worse. law enforcement like a radiation or drug treatment was enhanced to try to contain the spread but to no avail. the cancer spread to the brain and the heart and the UNITED STATES finally entered hospice care and died.

The total number of slaves brought to North America from Africa is not much more than two hundred thousand, mostly in colonial times.

And it was the worst mistake our ancestors ever made. Of course, blacks should be on their hands and knees every day thanking God that their ancestors were sold to non-Eskimo slavers by other blacks. Look at how Africans live in Africa compared to in the West. They won the lottery.

shhhh don’t point out that it won’t get better. At least right now they are all in one place just causing trouble for themselves. If you go around pointing out the obvious they will find a way to “help” and it will be using our tax dollars to break up the vibrancy of the majority black schools and busing in whites and busing out blacks to white schools. Let them rot in silence because the only alternative the liberals will see will be detrimental to white kids everywhere.

  • Mergatroyd

Daily abuse, beatings, harassment and robbery of any money with the teachers and staff not seeing anything or saying, kids will be kids, as if beating whites is normal.
Any white parent who sends his precious white child to such a school needs to be arrested for child abuse.

  • Ella

Oh, I believe it! We have occasional party shootings among Blacks off campus here in our city. At times, you here about drive-by shootings as a “game” or “being bored.” Whites will have a very rude awakening as more Black violence begins to SPILL over into the suburbs. Blacks kill their own people without a thought. Whites also suffer from both White and Black violence, such as mass shootings like Columbine, Aurora and Sandy Hook. Instability is going to get worse, and I feel sorry for our children who have these types of anxieties in America unlike our grandparents’ generation. They have been cheated big time.

    • Alexandra1973

I get bored too but I don’t drive around shooting people, I just surf the Net or play Sims. Or even do some housework! 🙂

Don’t forget Bridesburg, which is my old hood, Port Richmond and Fishtown. Doubt there are any of us left in Kensington, aside from the poor senior citizens waiting to die. My mom lives in Frankford and she is literally the only white person on the block. PRs make up the majority. I’m raising my children in a rural area, so it’s quite an experience for them when we visit grand mom. My sister still lives in Port Richmond and it looks like it’s hanging in there. I did notice that the natives are only 3 or 4 blocks away as opposed to the 30 or 40 blocks of my youth.
