Nidal Hasan Found Guilty in Fort Hood Killings

Rick Jervis and Doug Stanglin, USA Today, August 23, 2013

Maj. Nidal Hasan, the radicalized Army psychiatrist who turned his gun on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood four years ago in the name of jihad, was found guilty Friday of all counts, including premeditated murder.

He now faces the death penalty and could be the first person the U.S. military puts to death in more than 50 years.

A 13-member panel, or jury, of high-ranking officers voted unanimously to convict Hasan, 42, on a slew of premeditated murder and attempted murder charges for killing 13 people and injuring 31 others in the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at the U.S. Army base in Texas.

As the verdict was read, Hasan had no visible reaction.

The panel, which took only about seven hours to convict Hasan, now turns to the sentencing phase of the trial to decide whether to recommend putting him to death by lethal injection or have him spend the rest of his life in prison. Prosecutors are expected to call 16 witnesses over two days during the sentencing phase.

The 17-day court-martial of Hasan included 89 prosecution witnesses who described in vivid and graphic detail how Hasan entered a medical processing building on Nov. 5, 2009, and opened fire on unarmed soldiers and one civilian with a FN 5.7 semiautomatic handgun, reloading high-capacity magazines several times and firing 146 rounds.

Hasan, a Virginia-born Muslim who represented himself, was mostly passive throughout the trial, cross-examining only a handful of witnesses, calling none himself and opting not to make a closing statement. From his opening statement Aug. 6, he admitted to being the gunman and pledged his allegiance to the mujahideen, or holy warriors.

The case had been besieged by delays and bizarre twists, including the dismissal of the original judge during a dispute over to allow Hasan to grow a beard. Hasan also fired his defense team and chose to represent himself.

Through media leaks and statements to the judge, the American-born Muslim signaled that he believed the attack was justified as a way to protect Islamic and Taliban leaders from U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Through witness testimony, 911 calls and FBI videos, prosecutors recounted how Hasan purchased the murder weapon months before the shooting, spent weeks training to shoot at silhouette targets at a local shooting range and planned the attack inside busy Building 42003, where soldiers gathered for final medical clearance before deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The accused went out that day to kill as many soldiers as he could … or anybody else who tried to stop him,” prosecutor Col. Steve Henricks said.

The U.S. military carried out its last execution on 1961, with the hanging of Army Pvt. John A. Bennett. He was convicted in 1955 of the rape and attempted murder of an 11-year-old Austrian girl.

Same comment as above – give us – any Vet – 10 mins. in a room with this [expletive].

    Justice served – again…

    • me

Nope. This is not America….this is Amerika.

  • IstvanIN

He got life. He should have been shot in the stomach and allowed to slowly die in the dirt.

    • Shot in the stomach while lying in a pig pen.

  • Puggg

The bigger scandal is why soldiers are unarmed.

Thank you Bill Clinton for enacting that policy and George W. Bush and Barack Obama for continuing it.

    • Spartacus

Well you can’t just let soldiers carry guns around like that…

“As the verdict was read, Hasan had no visible reaction.”

Maybe he’s too stupid to understand it…

    • NeanderthalDNA

I think he wanted to be executed. The martyr thing. Oops…

      • MBlanc46

Which is why I think he should be given a life sentence in a supermax prison. Make him put off his date with the 72 virgins.

        • me

Let him die. He’ll have 72 mothers-in-law waiting for him as well….

    “…Virginia-born Muslim…”

This sounds wrong , for so many reasons…

    • White Mom in WDC

It should sound wrong but its real. Northern Virginia has turned into a clusterf$&k of musloids, beaners, squatmonsters, Asians, and whatever mish mash.

  • Now that he has been convicted, his pay and benefits stop.

    • His oxygen ration hasn’t been shut off yet.

    • White Mom in WDC

This case just shows how effed our federal government is. It illustrates why whites need to stop paying into the system

  • FourFooted_Messiah

Yeah, American born, goes to show you can’t trust any of them. Muslims aweigh. Use ’em as anchors, best thing for ’em.

  • A fake trial for a fake incident. Nidal is and was an actor. All of this is staged. There was no shooting at Fort Hood. It was a drill, an exercise.

  • IKantunderstand

Just kill him. The insulting behavior exhibited to Whites in this country, unbelievable. This s.o.b. should never have been allowed into the military. What are we thinking? Seriously? Seriously? We are going to allow females into combat ? We are going to allow faggots into combat? Why don’t we save ourselves a lot of money, and just capitulate. Get rid of the military, I mean, it is so gunny, and the outfits are terrible! And now, we are going to admit female SEALs. Are you kidding me? We already allow into the fire department people who are unqualified. We already allow into the police force, people who are small, stupid, and incapable of bringing down a perp on their own. Look, I’ve seen female cops. I could take them in less than a New York minute. You want to allow female cops? Then they should all look like Serena Williams. You want to allow female firefighters? Then they should all look like Serena Williams. I don’t have a problem with anybody who can pass the tests of old to determine a suitable candidate for being a policeman or a fireman. That includes women and Blacks. However, this new egalitarianism has not only put all of us at risk, but, it actually has put more pressure on the existing Whites to make up for the incompetence of their fellow affirmative action hires. We Whites are not only being phased out, but those of us who remain, are forced to do the work of at least two to three other people, and then watch in complete shock, when a Black whose job you have done, gets promoted. Gosh, I have read this back, and I sound bitter. Damn right, I am bitter. I went John Galt. You should too, if you can.

    • skara_brae

That is the first one of your thick blocks of typing that I have managed to read through. Credit where credit is due. Well said.

    • Jesse James

      Justice delayed, Justice denied.

  • He also wouldn’t have done what he did if a sane US government had excluded Muslims from our country – a nation no Muslim had a hand in building.

    • Stentorian_Commentator

Also, doesn’t his defense, that he was protecting the Taliban, mean that he was acting as an unlawful combatant? Once he made that statement, I think the law of war gives us the right to execute him summarily. That was the agreed upon treatment of bushwhackers as late as WWII. I guess BO has too much sympathy for the guy.

    • Ella

US soldiers did voice opposition when they allowed Muslim soldiers and Chaplains in the Armed Forces. They also risked being labelled as “racists” when they continue to protest these multicultural impositions. I bet Hasan wishes to be executed, so he can die as a martyr. Busting up rocks at Leavenworth for the next 30 years may be a better sentence.

  • FourFooted_Messiah

Oh, he was found guilty? I am surprised.

  • Spartacus

Islam has waged war on the entire non-islamic world ever since it’s inception. Was that also Bush’s fault ?

  • MartelC

Not a terrorist threat remember. Nothing to do with Islam either. Amren readers? Those who believe in the 2nd Amendment and adherence to the Constitution? = terrorists

  • MBlanc46

For those of us who don’t believe the eternal hellfire narrative, forty years in a wheelchair in a federal penitentiary is much more punitive than a quick, relatively painless death.

    • NeanderthalDNA

As much as I’d love to personally shoot him…

      He wanted to be executed.

Hey, how do you torture a masochist?

      • MBlanc46

        By not beating him.

      • Spartacus

You know, we have a joke here about that :

Masochist: “TORTURE ME ! PLEASE !
        Sadist: “Hmm… Nope .”

        • NeanderthalDNA

          Yeah here too, lol…

In honesty though, severe beatings from time to time would not give him his martyrdom…

          Oops…bad me…

      • I’d rather be executed than do life in the can as a paraplegic. Hasan’s getting a pretty good deal.

You wouldn’t have to strap me to a gurney; I could take it sitting in a chair, but I couldn’t look because I never liked seeing the needle go in. If I could write the scrip myself, I think I would prefer the massive overdose of barbituates, without the KCl to stop the heart.

I don’t understand why killers plead guilty to avoid the death penalty. Instead of life without parole, I’d rather just “ride that ride” and get it done.

  • They want a global Caliphate, plain and simple. Have you actually read the Koran? I have. I also left crumbs from spicy, fried pork rinds in it when I put it back on the shelf. Yes; that one has pork in it.

  • Spartacus

“The Islamic world doesn’t want to slaughter all “infidels””

Erm… Yes they do. That’s what they’ve been doing since that pig Mohammed founded the idiot pedophile cult in the first place.

  • Rhialto

If Hasan felt the way you state, the honorable thing for a man to do, would have been to resign his commission, and emigrate to an Islamic nation. Hasan could have joined various groups resisting Zionism. If he wanted to fight for Islam, that was the honorable way to do it.

    • The Muzzies don’t just want Israel; they want Spain back, and Greece, Serbia and most of Hungary, and then everything else. This isn’t just about Jews, who were expelled from the Arab world in 1948 with two suitcases per family. Anwar Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel and was murdered for it. They don’t want peace – with anyone.

  • Nidal Hassan is an actor. The Fort Hood shooting was a drill, an exercise. Nobody was killed or injured. Nidal Hassan right now is doing reality TV shows. All of this was staged to scare the American people. That’s all it was.
