Papua New Guinea Reinstates Death Penalty After Gruesome Sorcery Killings, Rapes

Papua New Guinea has reinstated the death penalty and repealed controversial sorcery laws after a string of gruesome “witch” killings and gang-rapes, with capital punishment to be used for some corruption cases and possibly even growing marijuana.

PNG is one of the poorest and most corrupt countries in the world, with rampant graft a major hindrance to the South Pacific nation’s ability to develop vast reserves of natural resources.

The PNG parliament voted on Tuesday to extend death penalty laws, unused since 1954, to make murder, rape and robbery punishable by measures ranging from hanging to a firing squad, as well as “medical death by deprivation of oxygen”.

The vote followed a spate of violent sorcery-related crimes, including murders and beheadings that have drawn condemnation from the United Nations.

In February, a 20-year-old mother was accused of witchcraft, then stripped and burned alive in a crowded market near Mount Hagen in the forbidding, jungle-clad central highlands.

Police Minister Nixon Duban said the government also wanted to apply the death penalty to producers of home-brewed alcohol, which is widespread, as well as marijuana growers because they also contributed to deteriorating law and order.

“People who produce homebrew and cultivate marijuana will be put to death. People who spy around on our mothers and young girls will be hanged or face firing squads. There are too many lawless people in the country. This will teach them a lesson,” Duban told a meeting in Madang, The National newspaper said.

A 32-year-old U.S. academic was gang-raped by a group of men as she walked with her husband in a forest on Karkar Island in Madang province last month, an attack condemned as a “cowardly act of animals” by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

O’Neill is trying to lure multi-billion dollar resources investments with a promise of better security. The government said the new laws would extend the death penalty to include corruption and the theft of amounts of more than 10 million PNG Kina, or $4.5 million.

Lesser amounts of more than $438,000 would attract 50-year prison terms without possibility of remission or parole.

Sorcery laws repealed in 1971 had criminalised witchcraft and allowed suspicions of sorcery to be used as a defence in murder trials. The new laws will make revenge killings over black magic punishable by death.

“They are smarter than most Westerners.”

    – Jared Diamond

I love Western social scientists. No group is more intelligent than any other, yet somehow New Guineans are smarter than Westerners.

    • Oil Can Harry

That’s right. Prof. Diamond “debunked” the Bell Curve by declaring that all races are equal- except that whites are less intelligent than these loincloth-clad Stone Age New Guinea cavemen.

I call him ‘The Hopeless Diamond’.

No wonder the libtard media love the guy so much. I see his name quite often, but was unfamiliar with his writings. What a goofus he is.

Gebusi- highest homicide rate on earth. Quite an accomplishment for
such a primitive people without modern weapons; they ARE clever over
        there.

Yes, I also thought of that. His book was hilarious. He dismisses any possibility of IQ differences in the first few pages, without citing any evidence. Anyone who has traveled to any non-white country knows there are IQ differences. How’s the Ugandan space program going, compared to the Japanese space program? Has Zimbabwe done any fusion research lately?

I’ve had this great idea for some time now: I want to see a Jared v. Jared debate! Our Jared vs. their Jared!

How about it JT? It’s too beautiful to not happen!

There wouldn’t be much of a debate. See Suzuki vs. Rushton, for example. Emotion vs. reason. Insolence vs. science. Arrogance vs. fact

        • a multiracial individual

Suzuki’s call for the firing of a tenured professor over their ideas was especially sickening.

    • I believe Jared Diamond was speaking only about himself – even though quite accidentally – when he made that statement.

    • anton drexler

Isn’t Mr. Diamond a member of the tribe about whom we must always remain silent? The tribe that is forever innocent, forever blameless, forever righteous, forever victimized by those who can never be victims? Why take the huckster seriously? He’s just another swindler working his racket to make a buck.

bringing back the death penalty sounds pretty smart

With the exception of Americans and Belarusians, White nations do not like the death penalty (as it has been banned in every white nation except the U.S.A and Belarus).

No Asian person I know consider Papua New Guineans to be Asian. Every Asian person I have met considers Papua New Guineans to be Black just like Australian Aboriginals.

    • The Australian Aboriginals I met Down Under look down on PNG islanders, as Australian Aboriginals were never into cannibalism the way the New Guinea natives were.

  • r j p

These islands were all very primitive until Western influence can along, as bad or worse than Africans.

    J. Maarten Troost did a good job of background education when he wrote “Getting Stoned with Savages” (2006) and “The Sex Lives of Cannibals” (2004). The books are considered travel guides, but they are more humor than anything.

If the US had the same death penalty statutes as Papua New Guinea there sure would be a lot of blacks sent to death row an ready for their eternal dirt sleep.

Yeah, but you’ll scare them away by threatening to execute them if they get caught making a small batch of hooch.

  • WowReally

Witches? Sorcery? The Salem Witch Trials were in 1692 for us. For Africans witch trials are in 2013. Tell me again how we are equal and not advanced one bit.

I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my daughter. The first exhibit was Greek art from 3500 BC. In the next room was art from PNG’s province of New Ireland — and also home to a predominantly negroid (Melanesian) people. The “art,” mostly consisted mostly of sexual fetishes carved from palm trees, dated all the way back to the 1960s. I don’t see their blacks catching up anytime soon.

DISQUS sucks, and so does AmRen for using it. No more politeness left.

    • Disqus is seriously malfing malfed, but I use seriously obsolete equipment with an obsolete OS, so there isn’t much else I can use here.

  • KenelmDigby

Strangely enough, Papuans are the most genetically un-related people to black Africans on Earth.

    • LaSantaHermandad

To whomever they’re related they are hideous looking.

    • Yes; this is called “convergent evolution”.

The Ainu/Jomon Japanese are not related to Caucasians, either, even though in many respects they look like us.

It appears that India is joining the Gang Rape club. A few months ago an young girl was raped to death by a gang of so called “men” on a bus. Then there was another incident following that one. A week or so ago an Irish woman who was working to help Indian children for a charity was rewarded by being gang raped. Then another American tourist was gang raped in another city.
When are Whites going to concentrate on helping their own instead of offering themselves as sacrificial lambs on the altar of rape and murder?

    • StillModerated

Were the gang rapists of the mohammedan persuasion?

      • LaSantaHermandad

Don’t know but I DO know that they all need to be dead!

  • These “smarter than most Westerners” folks have made Port Moresby one of the world’s “least livable” cities, according to The Economist, which rated the place at 139 out of 140 cities.
