Zimmerman Prosecutor Threatening to Sue Harvard for My Criticism

Alan Dershowitz, Newsmax, June 5, 2012

State Attorney Angela Corey, the prosecutor in the George Zimmerman case, recently called the Dean of Harvard Law School to complain about my criticism of some of her actions.

She was transferred to the Office of Communications and proceeded to engage in a 40-minute rant, during which she threatened to sue Harvard Law School, to try to get me disciplined by the Bar Association and to file charges against me for libel and slander.

{snip}

When the communications official explained to her that I have a right to express my opinion as “a matter of academic freedom,” and that Harvard has no control over what I say, she did not seem to understand.

She persisted in her nonstop whining, claiming that she is prohibited from responding to my attacks by the rules of professional responsibility—without mentioning that she has repeatedly held her own press conferences and made public statements throughout her career.

Her beef was that I criticized her for filing a misleading affidavit that willfully omitted all information about the injuries Zimmerman had sustained during the “struggle” it described. She denied that she had any obligation to include in the affidavit truthful material that was favorable to the defense.

She insisted that she is entitled to submit what, in effect, were half truths in an affidavit of probable cause, so long as she subsequently provides the defense with exculpatory evidence.

She should go back to law school, where she will learn that it is never appropriate to submit an affidavit that contains a half truth, because a half truth is regarded by the law as a lie, and anyone who submits an affidavit swears to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Before she submitted the probable cause affidavit, Corey was fully aware that Zimmerman had sustained serious injuries to the front and back of his head. The affidavit said that her investigators “reviewed” reports, statements and “photographs” that purportedly “detail[ed] the following.”

It then went on to describe “the struggle,” but it deliberately omitted all references to Zimmerman’s injuries which were clearly visible in the photographs she and her investigators reviewed.

{snip}

The judge deciding whether there is probable cause to charge the defendant with second degree murder should not have been kept in the dark about physical evidence that is so critical to determining whether a homicide occurred, and if so, a homicide of what degree. By omitting this crucial evidence, Corey deliberately misled the court.

Corey seems to believe that our criminal justice system is like a poker game in which the prosecution is entitled to show its cards only after the judge has decided to charge the defendant with second degree murder.

{snip}

Ironically, Corey has now succeeded in putting Zimmerman back in prison for a comparably misleading omission in his testimony. His failure to disclose money received from a PayPal account requesting donations for his legal defense made his testimony misleadingly incomplete.

In her motion to revoke his bail, Corey argued that Zimmerman “intentionally deceived the court” by making “false representations.” The same can be said about prosecutor Corey. {snip}

  • Angela Corey is a total clod.

This is our Al that we all know and love.

If you wanted to shut him up, the worst possible thing you could do is to have Harvard Law muzzle him.  Telling Our Al no is tantamount to telling him yes.

    • Oil Can Harry

Not only is she a buffoon but she’s also Syrian, another Arab-American bringing diversity to our shores.

Last month she prosecuted a black woman for firing a warning shot at her thug husband who was trying to strangle her. She was given a totally unjustified 20 year sentence.

She indicted him on fraudulent charges so he will be acquitted at the end of October and the riots will rage. Then, Obama can declare martial law and postpone the election.  The riots won’t stop, and he reigns for life, or until he really ticks off Soros, then he’ll retire to “spend more time with my beautiful fambly who looks so American in their J.Crew.”

      • Sheila Dinehart

that is a real possibility…i met soros at a garden party in manhattan once…imagine my surprise later on upon internal reflections

  • WE MUST hit back at these sue-happy liberal dogs
with their OWN tactics – those who sue for “discrimination” and burglars suing homeowners.

DESTROY Liberalism via the legal system – AND make money.

    •  Hopefully, the same thing will happen to her that happened to that Duke Rape Hoax prosecutor.

While I agree with Mr. Dershowitz’s sentiment I find it ironic that Amren posted his column today.

June 8 is the 45th anniversary of the Israeli air force blasting the USS Liberty to hell and murdering 34 US sailors in the process.

And woe be to anyone who makes public note of this fact as Dershowitz, like Angela Corey he complains about, would be the first one screaming for censorship and for heads to roll for anyone who challenges the approved version of that day’s event.

  • I’m always fascinated by the Left’s chronic inability to not go absolutely hysterical when criticized.  These people actually believe they are the most morally superior beings on planet earth.  It’s so ridiculous, they act like 4 year old kids, excuse me that is an insult to 4 year olds everywhere.

    •  Yes, that’s why you can’t reason with them. They KNOW they’re right and will throw tantrums until they’re given what they want just to shut them up. It’s a tactic that gets results  for them.

      • Hmmm, when you put it that way, I understand why they get along so well with blacks…

  • libertarian1234

This unscrupulous woman charged Zimmerman with second degree murder I’m sure knowing full well that he was merely defending himself, because he believed he was about to die or be seriously injured.

Dershowitz called it right for once when he said she did as she did strictly for the purpose of preventing black criminals from rioting .  That,  in itself,  is criminal, but she added further to her underhandedness when she combed everything possible to find something with which to denigrate the man, because she needed to tarnish his image to take some of the heat off of her deplorable conduct, which has received much condemnation from a plethora of people,  not just Dershowitz.

I’m almost willing to bet that there was no attempt by Zimmerman or his wife to defraud the court.  Before the bail was set it was reported by the MSM that they received $150,000 in donations for legal defense.  All the kangaroo court judge had to do was read the newspapers to find that out.

This poor guy and his wife probably were glad that it was missed and kept their mouths shut, knowing that he shouldn’t have been charged to begin with.  I don’t blame them if that might be the case.

What irks me is that this crooked, corrupt prosecutor has the gall to claim Zimmerman lied about his assets when she and the kangaroo court judge, her office of yes men prosecutors and the governor,  all engaged in lying about the case, putting what is probably an innocent man in the fight for his life, all because they wanted to placate the black mobs.

He will be stuck in jail again now for a month before he has another bond hearing.

I wrote the governor accusing him of appointing this disgusting woman as prosecutor strictly to appease the black mobs, yet he completely ignored the crimes of the Black Panther Party.

To his credit his aide responded declaring that the decisiion to do as she did was strictly the prosecutor’s and I should contact her office to take up the matter.  I did that,  but,  as expected, I didn’t get a reply from her or her office.

The railroading of this man is absolutely amazing and shameful.

    • Zimmerman is a wannabe cop coward, who took an innocent mans life because he started something he couldn’t finish with his hands. He wasn’t defending his home or loved ones. Simply another racist coward who was counting on the modern version  “Slave Codes”(where a black man striking a white in self-defense was punishable by death) to save his sorry ass from this cowardly act. If the innocent can’t get justice the black mobs will continue. No Justice, No Peace.

      • BobWhitakerisokay

Why do you need to refer to Zimmerman as a “racist” coward? What is a “racist” anyway and where did you learn the word?

How do you know Trayvon was “innocent” and only defending himself? Why do you presume Zimmerman is guilty even before the trial has begun? If Trayvon had killed him and was on trial instead would you presume him to be guilty too, regardless of the evidence?

Why do you condone black mob violence if Zimmerman is acquitted or, perhaps, even found guilty of a lesser charge? Don’t you realize threatening violence for not getting your way is extortion and should be treated as a serious felony?

What is your definition of “Justice”? What is your definition of “Peace”? How has the past 50 years of “civil rights” and forced integration contributed to either?

Will forced integration and racial equality ever work and at what price?

      • libertarian1234

Coward?  The only coward in this incident is the disgusting black thug who blind-sided Z with a sucker punch when he wasn’t expecting it, because he was outraged that somebody had the nerve to observe him while he was in the process of casing homes to see which one he wanted to break into.  Obviously he wanted to add to his collection of women’s  jewelry school officials found in his back pack.

All blacks are racists.  Some blacks are more racist than others.  Our boy thug, Trayvon,  gave many examples of his racism in his illterate tweets as nolimitnigga.  He also indicated that he was into drugs, especially a concoction known as “lean,”  made with watermelon drink,  Robitussen DM and Skittles, which he also described in his tweets, as well as his use of marijuana. He said he liked getting high on” lean,” which is probably why he bought the watermelon drink and the Skittles.  He probably had plenty of Robitussen DM on hand.

So what we had in the person of Trayvon Martin was an out-of-control teenage thug who probably also participated in cowardly black on white flash mob attacks.  He was a black punk, not quite in full bloom but rapidly heading that way.

There’s no doubt he was a criminal who committed a criminal act when he assaulted Zimmerman for no reason other than he was being monitored for strange behavior and suspicious activity.

He was shot for his criminal actions and he deserved it.

“If the innocent can’t get justice the black mobs will continue. No Justice, No Peace.”

Yes, I agree.  The innocent should get justice that’s why so many people are pulling for George Zimmerman.  That he was arrested to stop the black mobs from rioting is a disgrace.

And if you think white people are going to cower inside their homes if you and your ilk rampage anywhere near our neighborhoods,  continue deluding yourself.

Literally millions of white people have been waiting for such an event,  hoping all of you would make a move toward us or our family and friends.

But you won’t.  Just like the NBPP you’re all talk and no walk.

Cowardice is a terrible thing to be afflicted with.

I didn’t just “like” this friend…I’ve borrowed it and have passed this truly excellent synopsis around to my fellow like minded colleagues.

So if Skittle Boy had been carrying a knife or a gun, he would not have used it, right . . . that’s your contention?

        That’s laughable.

Your dismissal of Zimmerman as a coward actually condemns most blacks  because they routinely shoot each other over minor issues instead of settling it with fists.

From what I’ve read, Skittle Boy came up on Zimmerman and sucker punched him.  The sucker punch is as much a black thing as watermelon so I believe that probably happened.

Normally, if somone is on top throwing down on you, you can push him off or sweep him.  I have a feeling that Skittle Boy either grabbed Zimmerman’s head and pounded it into the cement or Zimmerman banged it pretty hard after the sucker punch.  Either way, I’m guessing he might have been blacking out, which is why he punched Skttle’s clock and sent him to fried chicken heaven.

By the way . . . as for you’re “No Justice, No Peace” . . . I think most around here agree with that, except we spell it “No Just Us, No Peace.”  In case you stumbled in here by accident, folks around here are actively rooting for an all-white nation where things like this don’t happen because there are no Skittle Boys creeping around.

      • Detroit_WASP

        easmachine,

I must be a coward as well because I carry a gun and would also shoot anyone punching me in the face.  I am an older guy with heart issues, high blood pressure and a bad back.   What would you have me do, fist fight a young punk who is trying to kill me?

Here is what killed Trayvon Martin.

        1.  Growing up he heard from his partents that white people are out to get him, the raped his great great grandmother.

        2.  It is white people’s fault that blacks are poor.

        3.  Whitey also keeps blacks out of college.

        4.  Even the black preachers in church say “god damn America” and teach young blacks to hate whites. It is part of the culture.  I grew up in Detroit, attended school with them.  Even most educated blacks think this way.

So, all these young black men are running around with all this rage, an average IQ of 85 and elevated levels of testosterone just looking for the slightest provocation to beat or rape a white person.  So, when one fights back, against the black punk, you get mad?  You are either black or a white liberal who has absolutely no experience with blacks except for what you see on MSNBC.

Misplaced black rage against white is what killed Trayvon.  A lifetime of taught hate by his family, his culture and church.

      • blight14

My strong recommendation is that you vacate this website…..Zimmerman is only guilty of one thing, littering……

      • Orion_Blue

You are right to say that the defendant probably over-reached himself in the beginning and it is certainly true that the who affair needs very close scrutiny

Iif somebody is shot and killed, there had better be a damned good justification for it, otherwise it amounts to little more than murder. Having said that, invoking the threat of mobs is straightforward intimidation.

As for the behaviour of the prosecutor, well, lawyers are not always renowned for their scruples or ethics, be the prosecutors or defence attorneys.

      • anonymous_amren

Actually I think black people shouldn’t be allowed to defend themselves against white people in white countries. And there’s a simple solution for black people who don’t like that… move to black countries. I don’t think unwanted guests should have the same rights as the people who create a country.

But that’s not what’s happening here. Here you have an innocent hispanic guy defending himself from being beaten up by a black thug, and then being persecuted by the media for being a white racist. Completely absurd.

        • Hacklefatchet

Z should have been within his rights to defend himself via the Stand Your Grounds law.  This is possibly a pivotal case of that law and any other law Liberals do not like.

      • radical7

I would have to agree with you on this one.

  • libertarian1234

Actually, as a side note, Angela Corey committed a really stupid thing by threatening to sue over valid criticism about her illegal c0nduct and behavior,  because it has resulted in Dershowitz further demonizing her in a nationally read column, re-emphasizing not only her original crimes, but casting further aspertions about her evil intent by revealing the depths to which she is willing to sink out of nothing but pure hostility.

  • Diamond_Lil

The State Bar needs to conduct a thorough investigation into ethics violations by Crump and Corey.  Corey just added to her troubles by threatening to file ethics charges against Dershowitz without cause.  It seems that Corey really thinks she can forestall  black riots by railroading Zimmerman.

  • Detroit_WASP

When a leftist like Alan D. says that whitey is being rail-roaded, you KNOW it is true.

I have come to the conclusion that the Z man is an idiot.  Hate to call the guy names but what kind of fool lies to a judge about something that can easily be checked???

Z man should be out of jail, and on every TV station saying that he was walking back to his car when poor little Trayvon assaulted him instead of running home or calling 911 (if Trayvon was in fact afraid).

The money would come rolling in to his defense fund.  But instead, Z man is in jail with no further funds rolling in.  Blacks will likely murder him before the trial.

    • The__Bobster

Funny, I came to the conclusion that the judge is an idiot. Zimmerman’s PayPal account was public knowledge and yet he didn’t know about it when he granted bail?

      • Detroit_WASP

Well then they are both idiots.

    • Major

Everything this AA hack does….is to appease the mau maus that she knows are going to torch Sanford anyway. It’s why that weak Scott….hired this diversity fraud anyway…to calm the people that are still roaming the streets…all over this country where their numbers make them unafraid of prosecution, arrest or whites getting a tad even.

Wonder why it is that we’re so damn civilized in the face of such threats?

Remember friends…her battle cry was to “get justice for Saint Trayvon”. Not justice, period. Totally ignoring her oath as a prosecutor….So she already cast the die that’ll hang her. I can’t wait.

    “a 40-minute rant,”

Maybe she was high on Lean (Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail, Robitussin DM cough syrup, Skittles).

And I’m sure Dersh is quaking in his boots.

Dershowitz is showing great courage by standing up for Zim, he’s probably the only one at Harvard who is willing.

As for Corey, she needs to be Nifonged — dis-barred, taken off this case and then tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

Reminds me a lot of another incompetent, loud-mouthed fool: Marcia Clark of OJ fame.

    Bon

    •  I think Clark was severely handicapped by her asst prosecutor, christopher darden, a bumbling buffoon, whose only credential is the color of his skin

      •  Marcia Clark was severely handicapped by her own self.  Her biggest blunder is allowing a bunch of black women on the jury because she assumed that black women would think gender instead of race.

        • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Marcia Clark didn’t need any help at all from Chris Darden.  She fumbled the OJ case all on her own with plenty of help from Judge Ito, whose boss at one time was Johnny Cochran.

As an aside, LA radio talk show host and JD Bill Handel says that Judge Ito’s mishandling of the OJ trail is used in law schools as an example of how NOT to adjudicate cases.

Clark ignored the advice of jury consultant Don Vinson who believed (correctly) that black female jurors would be strong Simpson supporters and more tolerant of violence within a marriage:  ‘People get slapped around. That just happens.’

Vinson was dismissed after one and a half days.

Marcia Clark was (mis)guided by her own “Implicit Personality Theory” believing that because black women experience more domestic violence, they would sympathize with Nicole and judge OJ more harshly than males.

Black female jury members, according to Vinson, held an extremely negative view of Clark referring to her as a “castrating b**** who wanted to smear the reputation of a black celebrity.”

I heard Chris Darden relate in an interview a few weeks after the OJ case that after the jury was finally seated, he took one look and KNEW on the spot it was all over, that there was NO WAY he and Clark were going to win with that jury.  Of course, he was  right.

          Bon

Funny, she wants to sue them for the exact same things she did to Zimmerman.. Pathetic.

Der-show-witz…uh let’s see…supports the notion that one must go to great lengths to save the oppressed of the world (jews and coloreds) against the evils of western civilization, wants guns banned in America so only thugs may have them…argued for OJ Simpson’s innocence knowing full well all the evidence admitted as well as non-admitted in court staggeringly proves his guilt, a Kardashian hanger on…a damn cry-baby and whinner extraordinare who sues (and collects from settlements) anyone who disagrees with him…a king of white skin privilege  Harvard ever-be while actively seeking the demise of western civilization…is sickened by the concept of whitey, a megalomaniac with the morals of an alley cat…why are you still alive?

“Marcia and Darden were also “messing around” with each other as was reported later.”

Yes. I remember Bugliosi relating in an interview after the trail that the two of them were seen canoodling in a fancy restaurant the night before closing arguments – he was shocked because any decent lawyer, especially one in a super- high profile case, as was the OJ case, would be up all night preparing for the most important presentation of his life.

He had nothing but abject scorn for Clark and Garcetti.

Judge Ito is to blame for letting Cochran run the courtroom (remember Ito once worked under Cochran). Ito allowed the Fuhrman evidence into the trial, something he should have never done, allowed the trial to turn on whether Fuhrman had used the “n” word 10 years earlier rather than focusing on the two innocent Whites who had been butchered by OJ.

The entire trial was a joke.

    Two things:

Isn’t this the same Alan Dershowitz who was one of O.J. Simpson’s biggest supporters?

Secondly, the fact that George Zimmerman attempted to manipulate and deceive a judge and several police officers by misleading  the the Florida judicial system confirms the fact that he is a dishonest person who cannot be trusted.

  • Detroit_WASP

    I already did.

  • razorrare

Not only was Marcia messing around with Darden, she was also messing around with Cochran…it had been reported that Marcia on one occasion in the courtroom had leaned over and whispered in Cochran’s ear that she “wasnt wearing any panties.”…

I knew it would be a sham trial when they changed the venue of where the trial should have been held,in the locality where the crime had occurred…the appointment of incompetent prosecuting attorneys as Marcia & Darden was icing on the cake.It was quite clear from the very beginning they wanted an acquittal to avoid black rioting…

What really bothered me back then was the special treatment O.J. was given as he tried to evade authorities in that “White van”…
