PA Judge Charged with Dismissing Her Own Traffic Tickets

Zach Bowman, Auto Blog, February 17, 2012

We have to imagine it’s easier to fight the law and win when you’re a judgeReuters reports Magisterial District Judge Kelly Ballentine of Lancaster, Pennsylvania has been charged with a number of crimes associated with dismissing her own traffic violations. {snip}

Ballentine was issued two parking tickets in November 2010 when her BMW was parked illegally in front of her home, followed by a third citation for an out-of-date registration. The judge failed to pay the tickets on time, and summonses were mailed to her home. Ballentine then allegedly went onto the online court system and dismissed the tickets with a waive of her judicial wand.

I’ve long argued against speed limits.  Like the case above shows, it gives government officials and policemen too much power over individuals.

If there is no victim, there is no crime.

      Then you are an idiot.
I hope the government officials throw you in jail before you kill someone (such as yourself) driving at ridiculous speeds on roads that belong to everyone, not just you. Or that you reconsider your insanity.

If there is no victim, it’s only because of a fluke of luck.

“Then you are an idiot.” Boy aren’t you a friendly person?

Governments do not care about you and have no incentive to help you.  Because I do not believe in enforcement of common sense does not believe I don’t mean to use it.

Would like to see a follow up story on this to see what type of penalty she receives  for dismissing her own charges, before i comment further.

I have no way of knowing for certain, but based on a wealth of real world experiences and an awareness of how AA is responsible for getting so many unqualified blacks certified, I’d be almost willing to bet this woman isn’t any more qualified to be a judge….or even a lawyer…than I am to perform brain surgery.

  • How can a sitting judge
not have current registration or not pay parking tickets? Moreover, she was
willing to risk her career over what couldn’t have been more than a few hundred
dollars at most. Such a decision shows her inability to think analytically and
or use sound judgment, critical attributes if you are a lawyer or judge.

    This woman has probably
been getting away with such crimes for many years. This is a crime of moral
turpitude and as a sitting judge, give rise to a complete investigation of her
past. What else has she cheated on, law school exams, bar exam, taxes, etc?

I can forgive her car being parked in front of her house, that doesn’t seem too unreasonable (although I don’t know the details, so she could have been doing something much worse).

And I could be generous and assume that the fines really were unfair and worthy of dismissal by a court.

But deleting them from the system herself? That shows a complete lack of professionalism and ethics. Worse, it shows she is an idiot, with poor judgement, and no impulse control, because she should have known she would get caught! How stupid do you have to be to log on with your ID, then delete your own tickets? How could it not occur to her that they would check for something like that?

And not even having her car registered?

She should be fired. And when she gets a new job at McDonalds, they should keep an eye on her so she doesn’t steal from the till.

  • Everybody knew it was a black, right?
You knew that this was just the sort of corruption that is synonymous with blacks in power.
