Police Say 87-Year-Old Grandmother Raped by Grandson

Outrageous and shameful are two words to describe a rape case in New Orleans. The NOPD says an 87-year old woman was attacked by her own grandson. WGNO’s Vanessa Bolano reports it’s just the latest concern for neighbors.

The latest crime to hit North Tonti Street in the Seventh Ward is a shocker. Police say an 87-year-old woman was raped by her grandson, and to make matters worse officers say she’s a bed ridden amputee.

“Yeah, I heard about that. I don’t even want to comment on that,” says a resident.

The crime has residents stunned. Police say the victim didn’t come forward for days; she stayed home, crying and scared. Now her grandson is behind bars.

“You can’t be harming people like that; they old.”

Residents say violence has permeated the Seventh Ward. They are worried about shootings, break-ins, murders, and they worry if they show their face on camera they’ll get killed.
