Black Liberals Support Farrakhan Event

NewsMax, Oct. 4

Many black activists could be expected to back away from Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan after his outrageous allegation that the government blew up the New Orleans levees to flood black neighborhoods during Hurricane Katrina.

But an impressive array of black organizations and individuals have lined up to support Farrakhan’s Millions More Movement and its October 15 gathering in Washington — including the Congressional Black Caucus and the mayor of Washington, D.C.

The Movement — formed to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Million Man March on Washington — plans to focus on “justice” for hurricane victims, slavery reparations and the war in Iraq at the gathering, according to Cybercast News Service.

The Millions More Movement says it is supported by: The Progressive National Baptist Convention, The Urban League, Rev. Al Sharpton, The New Black Panther Party, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Russell Simmons, Rev. Jesse Jackson, the National Council of Negro Women, Kanye West, The Congressional Black Caucus and D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams.
