White Americans Play Major Role in Electing the First Black President

More news stories on Barack Obama

Peter Wallsten, Los Angeles Times, Nov. 5, 2008

Beneath some of the sharpest assaults on Barack Obama—that he consorted with radicals, that he condescended to small-town Americans—was a lingering question: Would white America help elect a black president?

On Tuesday, Obama rode a surge of support across many voter groups. And white Americans played a major role in putting the first black president in the White House.

Obama did not win a majority of white voters; no Democrat has since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. But he ran equal to the last three Democratic candidates for president among white voters, and even slightly better than the party’s 2004 nominee, according to an Edison/Mitofsky exit poll conducted for a consortium of TV networks and the Associated Press.

Race proved to be no discernible handicap, even among the small-town, working-class whites who were considered most resistant to the black political newcomer from Chicago.

The force propelling Obama was clear: a troubled economy that had gone from shaky in the spring and summer to frightening in the fall. But in choosing an African American as the best person to lead in a time of crisis, the nation’s voters have broken a number of long-held truths about the hold of race on the country.

Racial antagonism still exists. But with Obama’s victory, voters showed that such feelings no longer hovered over American politics as they had for decades.

Most symbolic of that achievement was Obama’s victory in Virginia, home to the capital of the Confederacy, where the candidate ended his 21-month campaign with a massive rally in Manassas, near the site of one of the epic battles of the Civil War.

Breaking with recent assumptions, Obama showed that a single candidate can appeal to black voters without losing whites, and to white voters without losing blacks.

{snip}

Obama improved on past Democratic performances among all groups, with the singular exception of seniors. He improved on 2004 nominee John F. Kerry’s totals among Jews, Protestants and Catholics. While Kerry split women’s votes with Bush, Obama won a decisive majority.

Moreover, Obama won the votes of 4 in 10 white men—higher than the last five Democratic presidential nominees, according to a National Journal study of exit polls—and nearly half of white independents.

Latinos, courted aggressively by both sides with Spanish-language ad campaigns, went overwhelmingly for Obama. McCain, once popular with Latinos, won 3 in 10—a deep decline from the 45% won four years ago by Bush.

Just as Obama helped expand the Democratic coalition—bringing with him new U.S. senators and House members in Republican states from Florida to North Carolina—Republicans now face a drastically narrowed party.

Tuesday’s results show that Bush and McCain have left the GOP appealing primarily to white conservatives at a time when Obama’s ascension symbolizes the growing multiculturalism of America.

The African American share of the electorate, for example, grew slightly, according to network exit polls. That was no doubt a result of the excitement over Obama’s candidacy and a deliberate strategy by his campaign to register new voters and contact blacks who had not participated in the past.

Gone from the Bush win column of 2004 were two pivotal states—Ohio and Florida—both of which boast growing ethnic diversity. In greater Miami, an ethnic microcosm with large populations of blacks and Latinos, Obama won by more than 140,000 votes—more than tripling the Democrats’ edge there four years ago. In populous Pinellas County near Tampa, Fla., where Bush and Kerry tied, Obama won by 40,000 votes.

But the most reassuring numbers of all for Obama strategists may have been the results among white voters—particularly those in working-class areas and in key suburbs.

{snip}

Even in the coal country of southwestern Virginia, Obama minimized his losses, perhaps thanks to his two visits to the region and a swarming effort by the campaign to reassure skeptical whites that his policies were better for their lives. As the president of the coal miners union told locals repeatedly in recent weeks, they could elect a “black friend” or a “white enemy.”

Maybe Wallsten might want to RETHINK his position. Some White Americans voted for Obama out of sheer stupidity — a vainglorious attempt to ‘prove’ their lack of racism or from a sense of worthless guilt. Or because of having been brainwashed through 12 years of public school; brainwashing which was then continued through college.

Other Whites voted for Obama due to believing McCain to be merely a continuation of Bush’s failed policies and unnecessary wars. Or in protest of the incredible economic problems we’re currently confronted with. Finally, some voted for Obama simply because the Republicans just couldn’t offer anything better than McCain to begin with. That Latinos voted heavily for Obama simply reflects the reality the Democrats’ pandering to them and passing the Reublicans off as “the rich man’s party.” The not noted for intellectual acuity Latinos blindly swallowing the Democrats’ bait.

But let the dreamers dream! Had ANYONE but McCain won the Republican primaries, the outcome most likely would not have been as it was.

Sure, but race was definitely a handicap for Hillary Clinton, if obama was white he wouldn’t have gotten 90% of the black vote, and hillary would have been likely to win the democratic primaries. So this is a good example of how black tribalism can give blacks advantages in a society dominated by individualistic whites..

With the logic used in the article one must conclude blacks are overwhelmingly racists.

The exit polls indicated that 60% of Americans thought that the economy was the top issue. Let’s be honest the economy isn’t doing well now.

Also let’s factor in McCain’s economic policy or the lack thereof. Personally I think the Republicans could have done better with Mitt Romney or even Ron Paul. These men were by far and away more much conversant on economic issues than McCain, who actually refused to even talk about the economy during the first Presidential debate!

In fact given the state of the economy its really wonder that McCain has done so well.

Perhaps as a side note let’s talk about McCain’s statements about US troops being in Iraq for a 100 years.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/14/mccain.king/

He really didn’t do anything to distance himself from the Bush era Neo-Con military adventurism, in fact he embraced it. However this is really a side show to his utter inability to articulate a clear economic policy.

McCain had a great shot at being President and he blew up because he was unable to address the #1 concern of the voting public: the economy.

Not people of any conscience. Mr. Obama was attending and listening to a racist preachers racist rants against white people for some twenty years and was a personal friend. Anyone of conscience would dump someone like that black people included.

You know the racist anti-white media always does this. They say oh white Americans don’t favor this because their racist. Or white Americans won’t vote for a blackman because their racist. I knew the second Obama won that these type of articles would come out. Like well maybe whites int as racist as we thought. You thought?

No the media knows white people int racist. They just wanted to play on guilt by calling us racist, even though their the racists. Now that he has won, which is what the media wanted. They wanted Obama to win. But now that he has won they will come out with articles saying maybe their less racist. The media decieves and trys to rape whites the way they want. All this article is, is a little pat on the back “godd doggy” you int racist, hey idiots thanks for voting Obama, the one us media folks wanted you to vote.

I have yet to see a article of blacks who voted for Obama 98% as being racist because they voted on someone that chares their culture. No but is whites were to vote overwhelminly for someone that shares white culture. Than it would called racist.

November 4, 2008 begins our decline into third world status and slavery. Welcome the new white slaves. And welcome to Stalinism which will make Bush’s patriot act and other follies look like chump change.

We have turned a corner and there is no coming back. What? There’s always another election.

Yes but with amnesty for 15 million illegals in the next two years the remaining healthy white population will go under in a sea of “new” voters.

The old confederacy has been the backbone of white resistance since 1860. Just as in 1865 we are now being rolled up on the flanks in the final days by a blue army; Virginia and North Carolina, and Florida to the south are overrun. The next presidential election will see Texas fall to the west. At that time the remaining red states will consist of the Deep South from South Carolina to Louisiana with perhaps a red square or rectangle in the west.

Many of the 4 of 10 white men who voted for Obama came from the upper mid-west rust belt, PA, OH, and MI. When the depression hits and the coal industry is shut down in those states because of Obama’s promise to “tax them into bankruptcy” and because of crushing taxes for welfare benefits to illegals and health care for all, these white men will end up in breads lines. I will resist to my last days giving these white men one cent of charity or assistance, should they ask for it. And I will resist my tax money going to them for that purpose. As far as I am concerned they can starve in the streets as homeless bums. Besides, any group of whites that returns Rep. Murtha to power in a landslide is collectively brain dead and deserves no pity for what comes their way.

Am I just angry because the hapless Republic lost? Not at all, a victory by a “normal” democrat I could accept but you 4 out of 10 white men just elected a communist and black racist, who is probably a Muslim. That he despises whites should have given you a clue.

Did we like it here in the South supporting Republicans all these years? No. All we got from the party was derision; they took our votes and then laughed at our culture and spit on our flag. McCain was one of the worst. But in the process we did buy a lot of time to prepare.

This Obama nightmare will end one way or another. When it does we will get a competent white man or woman as president once again. Although it will be a leftist democrat as the party that began with the odious Lincoln will be dead as a political force.

But nothing will be the same. I look upon the white house like a girlfriend, daughter, or ex-wife who has slept with a black. No matter the contrition, the apologies, the expressions of guilt, they are forever stained and cannot be restored.

From Yankee occupied territory.

Don’t be ignorant. Al Gore had 90% of the black vote. If I recall correctly, John Kerry missed the 90% mark by 2%. What Obama has done is get a slightly higher number AND an increased voter turn out across ethnic groups.

Given the economic times, Hilary would’ve garnered over 90% of the black vote, but with less votes in terms of real numbers since voter turn out wouldn’t have been as impressive as Obama’s. 90% of blacks are democrats by the way.

Probably less hatred of their OWN race than the result of being subjected to 12 to 16 years of p.c. dogma blown smoke-like up their rectums by their teachers and professors!

Face it. By the time students graduate, they’ve had so much of that slop forced down their throats they’ve lost the ability to think. To weigh facts and come to the proper conclusion… out fear of being called “racist” by their friends and peers.

Not a laughing matter, friend. But a bitter truth. Just like our European White countries have had so much guilt dumped on them in the aftermath of World War II, they’re literally AFRAID to refuse entry to non-White immigrants. Much less being able to speak openly about the crime rate among immigrants, the inability of third-world Africans to ever mesh into White societies.

12-16 years “Fed Up”? It’s a lot longer than that; more like at least 50 years. The real conditioning took place from the mid-late 1960’s on, but the people controlling the media were at it since they took control of it way back in the 1930’s or so. Going way back in time, Indians, Blacks and other groups have always been portrayed positively in movies, TV shows, etc.; that is, as positive as the media could get away with for any particular period in time. And they keep pushing us toward the precipice slowly over time. Now that they have their ‘Black President’ they will probably attempt to accelerate their program of mass conditioning and gullible politically correct Whites will go along with their agenda.

His major goal will be to stay in power and get a second term. He was elected by the white vote and he is smart enough to know that he will not be reelected if he bends too much to black America. He will need the white vote again!
I expect him to lurch about neither causing harm to the whites nor improving the “situation” of the blacks. This will very soon disappoint African America and they will relate it to his white part. And this is basically the time he’s history.

Every white person who cast a vote for Obama is a race traitor, plain and simple, but not simply because he’s black…but because he has a definable history of engaging and being sympathetic to obviously anti-white interests.

The day after the election, I found myself in a shouting match (I guess it was me who was doing the shouting, to be honest) with a person who has been a very good friend of mine for 8 years. He is a strong, masculine, and proud (I thought) white male (a martial artist, no less) who revealed he had voted for Obama. I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know if the friendship is recoverable, but I don’t really care at this point. It’s one thing to have to go to work with race and values-traitors out of deference to personal economic necessity, but when it comes to interpersonal relationships that are purely optional, I “opt” for people who do not subvert the interests of their own people.

I encourage very white person to begin thinning their own herd of friends and acquaintances on this very same basis…but make sure that when you dump ‘em, they know why.

Enough is enough.

29 — Fed Up wrote at 8:13 AM on November 6:

Those exit polls, those pre-election polls… mean virtually nothing. Because people will hardly ever be completely honest. Voting, after all, is a PRIVATE act.

Eliminating Black voters for Obama, eliminating the brainwashed first-time and second-time voters… Probably the ONLY Whites voting for Obama were those thoroughly disgusted with Bush’s 8-year record of incompetence, bungling stupidity and endless lying to America. People so fed up they became naive enough to believe the Obama myth and hype; his promises of “change.”

It always comes back to the same point: Two equally bad (worthless) candidates to choose from… WHICH do YOU perceive as “best of the worst?” Obama’s closet racism was outed early enough in the campaign. His marxist views shortly thereafter. So other than for Blacks and those hopelessly brainwashed, RACE really never was a factor… PRO or CON.

I pretty well assumed McCain would lose. As a politician, he’s about as worthless as can be. His vaunted ‘military heroism?’ I can’t speak with absolute certainty on his military record. But have read several articles suggesting he is NOT the hero we were supposed to believe written by those who knew him. McCain as president? (Shudder!) The only hope there being he’d either have picked a sharp V.P., then conveniently resigned almost immediately for health reasons, or better yet, passing away peacefully early on… before being able to do too much harm to our country.

Obama as prez? Time will settle that question. Whether he lives up to the hype and hoopla, or whether in 20120 voters will give him a Jimmy Carter send-off (don’t let the door hit you on the way out). Like most Americans, I won’t knock or praise Obama until there’s a reason. Right now the jury is still out on the issue if Obama will be a good, or intolerably bad prez.

If the latter, one feeble ray of hope. The fatcat Congressmen and Senators see their jobs as a lifetime sinecure. Who certainly will be afraid of being kicked out when their terms expire. So hopefully they can be relied on to stop Obama in his tracks if he gets too radical. Because if the poop hits the fan… and Obama stirs up too much wrath among American citizens… Congress sure in hell will loose big-time, starting with the mid-term elections in 2010. You have to recall anger and disenchantment at Dubya’s blundering wars got the Dems in in 2006… NOT their impeccable track record or sterling reputation.

Now with a Democratic MAJORITY, those political hacks hardly can play the blame game. So if and when major Obama foul-ups happen… the Republicans looking for their Congressional jobs as an easy life-time career… will feel a very cold draft on their backs! Expectedly distancing themselves from Obama faster than rats deserting a sinking ship! A president can serve only two terms at most; Congressmen and Senators can (and do) feed at the public trough, often for decades.

Seriously, its the brainwashing, people. The mass media + the educational system have done such a job on our white youth that we may never recover.
