Foreigners now make up 10 percent of the Spanish population according to figures released on Monday.
The National Institute of Statistics said the number of registered foreigners went up 338,000 last year.
The total Spanish population is now 45.12 million—of which 4.48m are foreign nationals.
Of these, 1.7m are foreign nationals from the European Union.
Of the total population, 49.4 percent are men, while 50.6 percent are women.
Among foreigners, 53 percent are men, while 47pc are women.
The biggest population group in Spain is aged between 16-44 (44.1pc), while 15.3pc are below 16yrs old, and 40.7 are over 45.
The biggest foreign population were in the Balearics Islands (18.4pc), followed by Valencia (14.9pc) Murcia (14.4pc) Madrid (14.1pc) Catalonia (13.4pc) and the Canary Islands (12.3pc).
