Report of Teen’s Abduction Proves to Be False

A Doyline boy reported to have been abducted at gunpoint from his home Wednesday afternoon is safely back at home.

Now it’s up to the Webster district attorney’s office to determine whether charges should be filed over claims authorities say were bogus.

A statewide Amber Alert was issued and dozens of law enforcement officers were mobilized when word came about 4:30 p.m. that two masked men armed with semiautomatic handguns kidnapped 14-year-old Shacorey Hicks from his home in the 700 block of Shiloh Road.

The eighth-grader’s father alerted authorities after two juveniles inside the home told him that two white men wearing black clothes, boots and ski masks broke through a back door, forced the teen into the car and began driving west on McDowell Street, Sexton said.

About four hours later, word came Hicks was safe and back home. The Amber Alert was canceled at 8:27 p.m. after authorities learned the abduction report was false, state police said.
