The Horrific Aftermath of Boko Haram Massacre on Nigerian Villages

Laurie Hanna, Daily Mail, January 15, 2015

The destruction wreaked by Islamist militants in Nigeria when they slaughtered an estimated 2,500 people including a woman while she was in labour has been revealed in shocking new satellite images.

Terror group Boko Haram outraged the world last week when they indiscriminately murdered innocent men, women and children as they attacked the towns of Baga and Doron Baga.

Now, new images obtained by Amnesty International show how the towns were devastated by the assault–with more than 3,700 structures including houses and schools completely destroyed.

The destruction shown in these images matches the horrific stories from eyewitnesses revealing how Boko Haram militants shot hundreds of civilians in cold blood.

One witness described how the ruthless terror group were shooting indiscriminately, killing even small children and a woman who was in labour.

He added: ‘Half of the baby boy is out and she died like this.’

Ibrahim Gambo, a 25-year-old truck driver, survived the relentless attack in Baga but he still doesn’t know if his wife and daughter are safe.

He said: ‘As we were running for our lives, we came across many corpses, both men and women, and even children.

‘Some had gunshot wounds in the head and some had their legs bound and hands tied behind their backs.’

Yahaya Takakumi, a 55-year-old farmer, revealed to Nigeria’s Premium Times how he managed to flee Baga with one of his wives–but does not know if his four children, his second wife or his elder brother managed to escape.

He said: ‘We saw dead bodies especially, on the islands of Lake Chad where fishermen had settled. Several persons were killed there like insects.’

Mr Takakumi said the Islamic extremists opened fire on vessels carrying fleeing residents across the lake.

Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International, said this was the ‘largest and most destructive’ Boko Haram assault his organisation has ever analysed.

He added: ‘These detailed images show devastation of catastrophic proportions in two towns, one of which was almost wiped off the map in the space of four days.

‘It represents a deliberate attack on civilians whose homes, clinics and schools are now burnt out ruins.

‘Up until now, the isolation of the Baga, combined with the fact that Boko Haram remains in control of the area, has meant that it has been very difficult to verify what happened there.

‘Residents have not been able to return to bury the dead, let alone count their number. But through these satellite images combined with graphic testimonies a picture of what is likely to be Boko Haram’s deadliest attack ever is becoming clearer.’

Experts have estimated the brutal assault killed more than 2,000 people with reports of locals running over dead bodies to escape the carnage.

Another survivor–a man in his fifties–told Amnesty: ‘They killed so many people. I saw maybe around 100 killed at that time in Baga. I ran to the bush. As we were running, they were shooting and killing.’

He hid in the bush and was later discovered by Boko Haram fighters, who detained him in Doron Baga for four days.

Those who fled describe seeing many more corpses in the surrounding bush area, and one woman said: ‘I don’t know how many, but there were bodies everywhere we looked.’

In Baga, a densely populated town less than two square kilometres in size, approximately 620 structures were damaged or completely destroyed by fire.

And in Doron Baga, more than 3,100 structures were damaged or destroyed by fire that ravaged most of the four square kilometre town.

Mr Eyre added: ‘This week, Nigeria’s Director of Defence Information stated that the number of people killed in Baga, including Boko Haram fighters, ‘has so far not exceeded about 150’.

‘These images, together with the stories of those who survived the attack, suggest that the final death toll could be much higher than this figure.’

Boko Haram fighters have repeatedly targeted communities for their perceived collaboration with the security forces.

Thousands of people have fled the violence across the border to Chad and to other parts of Nigeria.

Many of the wooden fishing boats along the shoreline, visible in the images taken on January 2, are no longer present in January 7 images–tallying with eye witnesses’ testimony that desperate residents fled by boat across Lake Chad.

Amnesty are calling on Boko Haram to stop killing civilians. They insist the deliberate slaughter of of civilians and destruction of their property by Boko Haram are war crimes and crimes against humanity and must be duly investigated.

They are calling for the Nigerian government should take all possible legal steps to restore security in the north-east and ensure protections of civilians.

Boko Haram drew international condemnation when its fighters kidnapped 276 schoolgirls from a boarding school in north-east Chibok last year. Dozens escaped, but 219 remain missing.

It just means fewer Black genes to turn into Black people who attack White people.

    • TruthBeTold

It means the Congressional Black Caucus is going to demand we increase the number of refugees we accept from Nigeria.

      • HJ11

Well, the Congressional White Caucus can stop them…oh, wait…there is no Congressional White Caucus because the White representatives are afraid of being called racists if more than 3 of them meet without non-Whites present.

So who represents White interests? No one in congress, that’s for sure.

      • SentryattheGate

Nigerians were already due to be the source of most immigration to the US, along with Chinese. The UN expects Nigeria to be the third most populous nation in the world soon (in about the size of Texas) , surpassing the US!

        • Mary

If that isn’t a thought to chill the blood…

        • Yeah, and then we can let them all come here. After all, Nigeria is only poor and backward because of where it is and the United States is only rich because of where we are. It is only a coincidence that all the best countries happen to be where the White people live, only a coincidence.

  • ValKilmerBeforeHeGotFat

Living with Islam means living like Saddam, Assad etc. There “people” will eat you if you don’t defend yourself.

    • Sick of it

Saddam and Assad kept the savages in check. The savages are not fond of rulers like them.

      • SentryattheGate

Correct; getting rid of Assad and Saddam paved the way for radical murderous ISIS!

        • Exactly. That is what we have to own up to.

  • MekongDelta69

Boko Haram spelled backwards is Barack Hussein Obama.

See?! You learn something new every day around here!

    • Oil Can Harry

You just made me realize Boko Haram is an anagram of “Homo Barak”.

I guess the rumors about Mr. Obama were true…

      • MekongDelta69

        Very good!

That’s what I like about AmRen posters.
        They are intelligent.

  • superlloyd

Negroes and Islam. What could possibly go wrong?

    • Sir, I think you are being sarcastic.

  • MBlanc46

This is just Africans being Africans. Okay, maybe the body count is a bit higher on this occasion, but that’s merely a quantitative, not a qualitative, difference.

    • John

I think you nailed a fundamental difference there that most people are missing. It seems as though the Muslims causing problems are mostly from sub Sahara Africa. There are roughly 2 billion Muslims worldwide. We (at least I would) probably have more in common and would get along perfectly fine with the college educated, degreed mid-upper class professional living in Tehran that just happens to be a Muslim. These Muslims are a bunch of knuckleheads that are demonstrating typical black behavior with no whites around to apply the brakes.

      • MBlanc46

Iranians are Aryans and perhaps generally more intelligent than Arabs and certainly more intelligent than sub-Saharans. But they’re also Shi’ite Muslims, one of the wackiest major sects on the planet.

      • LHathaway

The few Muslims I knew over the past few decades all went on to marry white women.

        • Anglokraut

Isn’t that how “Not Without my Daughter” happened? Surprising that we haven’t seen more of that in the last fifteen years.

        • John

Both of the men I knew years ago had done the same thing. Bearing in mind this was almost 30 years ago and “Islamophobia” hadn’t set in here yet, I was able to have a “conversation” of the sort Holder has suggested we whites have with blacks that will never happen and asked the one that I actually worked with about his American wife and the upbringing of their kids. Specifically, how they were going to handle the religious upbringing. He told me he and his wife had decided to let them chose which way they wanted to go rather than deciding for them. I met his wife and she was even taller than I am and almost a head taller than he. It was sort of obvious who wore the pants in that family by the way they interacted.

  • IstvanIN

Not my people, not my problem. This is just another of millions of examples of why blacks can not live among civilized people.

    • True. But wait until they start asking for help from us, or, Heaven forbid, want to immigrate here! Yes, we should just take that as an example of why some people build better societies than others.

      • IstvanIN

We should not let them in.

  • italian guy

It’s always a tragedy when innocent people get the blunt of extremists actions, but I agree that this is nothing new in Africa, they will never get out of their own mess.

On a related note: I wonder who is giving these people Western technology like those cars etc. etc., I don’t think there are factories over there right? no seriously, if they have enough wealth as a nation to buy things from the West, why do they get so much international aid?

    • Sick of it

Seriously, look at the price of goods in various countries. We are subsidizing the rest of the world by paying far more. Other than countries in Western Europe or Japan. We bear the brunt of R&D costs as well.

      • There is this store called fasttech. It’s very Chinese. There, though their main warehouse is located in Shenzhen China or something you can get anything at all shipped to you for free, even a ten cent item, and that is via China Post then handed off to the USPS. So I figure through whatever channels, this SmartPost delivery type service that always ends in the post office also, that the U.S. taxpayer must be paying for those items to be shipped here. Someone has to pay for fuel costs and that’s just not possible when items are under a dime and get shipped for free from half way around the world.

        • SoulInvictus

Yeah, I don’t comprehend that kind of thing either.
I’ve sold stuff online and could never ship anything of any size for under $1-2. I can only figure, like you, that there’s a tax subsidy hiding somewhere in the mix.

          • Rustler

A large shipper can get a contract that allows for this because they buy the service in bulk. It’s worth it because if small transactions go through, bigger orders will follow.

    • Rustler

Westerns who have not traveled in the third world lately have no idea how radically more prosperous even places like northeast Nigeria are now than they were a generation ago. It’s not the 80’s anymore and few places, even in Africa, have that kind of barefoot, starvation level poverty in 2014.

  • John

Sorry, that picture doesn’t prove a thing. That could have just as easily been part of Ferguson, MO during its most recent event.

  • Caucasoid88

Now Soros is flipping the bill for Boko Haram’s one-way ticket to NYC.

  • Luca

What the press is not telling you and what I am willing to bet is that all these victims are Christians, or at the very least, non-Muslim. The religion of peace strikes again.

    • Zimriel

A better bet is that the victims’re Timbuktu-type Muslims: more into reading books and trade, less into holy war.

In Sudan, the targets were Sufis in Darfur.

    • Anglokraut

The story interviewed a polygamous man:
“Yahaya Takakumi, a 55-year-old farmer, revealed to Nigeria’s Premium
Times how he managed to flee Baga with one of his wives–but does not
know if his four children, his second wife or his elder brother managed
      to escape.”
      Is polygamy part of Christianity?

      • Luca

No. If you read my post again very carefully you’ll discover I also said:

“… or at the very least, non-Muslim.”

        • Anglokraut

No, I saw that; I just don’t see why we would care about Muslims killing other Muslims (as the polygamist would likely be a Muslim). Personally, I see it as a wash.

        • Rustler

If you bothered to do the most cursory research on Nigeria, you would know that the far north of the country is almost entirely Muslim and has been for hundreds of years.

          • Luca

I did, but news articles by CNN have said they were targeting Christians. I know Muslims kill each other, which I have no argument with, but I was going by the CNN reports which were not geographically specific. Maybe they were talking about a different (southern) region of Nigeria.

    • Christians in west central Africa are concentrated mainly near the coast. That’s where most of the missionaries went. The farther inland one goes, the poorer and more Muslim things get.

      • Luca

Nigeria, which has a significant coastline, is 50% Muslim, 40% Christian and 10% African traditional. There have been many stories in the last year about Boko Haram targeting Christians and kidnapping Christian girls.

    • Rustler

Wrong. This area of Nigeria is damn near 100% Muslim.

  • MartelsGhost

NON crimes. I couldn’t really care less about what these low iq tribal morons do to each other. The only real reason to stop Boko Haram is because they are islamic jihadis……………….

  • evilsandmich

I care deeply about this every bit as much as President Goodluck and his central government; that is to say, not one bit.

    • Kenner

Or his First Lady, Fat Chance.

  • dd121

It’s not vital to the interests of the United States and we shouldn’t put Americans in harms way to solve their problems.

  • Bill Moore

Am I to conclude that the “civilians” are unarmed?

It seems to me that 2,500 people, each with a gun and some ammo, could have done some serious damage to the invaders.

    Just My Thoughts,
    Bill Moore

  • Reynardine

“Amnesty are calling on Boko Haram to stop killing civilians.”

Woah, woah, woah, we got those badass Amnesty guys on our side. Boko Haram will surrender within days.

  • TrayvonCohen

  • Caucasoid88

Thought of a good nickname for Boko Haram: Qu’uns

  • Douglas Quaid

Our forebears understood perfectly well what Islam was all about, I wish we lived in a less intellectually/morally muddled age where a spade was still called a spade.

  • SoulInvictus

Sorry, my first thought on rading the above and seeing the accompanying picture was:

In my best Bill Murray voice from Ghost Busters,
“Annnnd the minivan, is still standing!”

    Seriously, that’s a tough minivan.;)

  • archer

One group armed, one group unarmed= massacre, happens every time.

  • Charles Martel

Their families had probably fled their home countries in anticipation of the bad craziness that was to come.

I met LOTS of Iranians in Los Angeles who had bailed out when the Shah was deposed. They were largely secular and, in the case of a particularly cute young lady, Jewish.

    • John

Actually, the family “escaped” from Afghanistan when the Soviets invaded. They came to America because the oldest son had been here for years, become a citizen, married an American girl and had been employed as a mechanical engineer for a local firm for several years. Based on that and some other “clues” they dropped by accident, I always had the feeling they were upper crust rich before the Soviets invaded. Little things like how they used the gold and jewelry they were able to smuggle out to jump start relocating here for example.

  • Charles Martel

Dead blacks apparently only matter when there is money to be had: civil suits against municipalities, more Federal funding or increased circulation or TV ratings.

  • ElComadreja

Black savages murdering black savages. What’s the problem here?

    • Rustler

This is the kind of stupid comment that has no place in nationalism. Let reactionary conservatives say stuff like this.

      • HJ11

Who appoihjnted you to be the arbiter of what has place in nationalism?

      • ElComadreja

You’re welcome to your opinion. I meant every word I said. Do you really think blacks give a damn about you? Only whites are foolish enough to worry about the welfare of other races.

  • Augustus3709

The race-denier media will blame this on Islam, which is partially true, but African death squads have never needed an excuse for their sadistic amusement.

  • Yep, and meanwhile we are still hearing about the Nazis, and all the bad things we White people did centuries ago. I would have had no idea that this even happened if I wasn’t on this website.

  • They are still muzzies.

  • MBlanc46

I have read a bit about Iranian history and politics. It’s my impression that a fair part of the middle-class take a pretty cavalier attitude towards Islamic practice. Back in the days of the Shah, there was quite a scandal when his wife was photographed on the beach in California in a bikini. I’d guess that’s the milieu that the women you refer to come from.
