Civil Rights Commission Calls for National Cesar Chavez Day

Susan Jones, CNS News, March 31, 2014

March 31 is Cesar Chavez Day. It’s an official state holiday in California, but it’s not a federal holiday–not yet. But the U.S. Civil Rights Commission wants to change that.

Chairman Martin Castro announced on Monday that the U.S. Civil Rights Commission has sent letters to President Obama and congressional leaders, urging them to create national holidays commemorating the births of Chavez on March 31; and Fred Korematsu on Jan. 30.

Korematsu was a Japanese-American who battled against the internment camps established after the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

The letters ask the president issue an executive order declaring those two days national holidays in recognition of both men’s contribution to upholding civil rights and liberties for all U.S. citizens.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is an independent, bipartisan agency charged with monitoring federal civil rights enforcement.

  • How bout that.

The USCRC wants to make my birthday a national holiday.

My ship has finally come in.

I knew I’d amount to something eventually.

    • r j p

      Bye bye Presidents Day.

    • mobilebay

Sorry, QD, My birthday IS a national holiday…Jan. 1 – Happy New Year!

  • Truthseeker

Why on earth would any American want to celebrate either of those days? I’d never even heard of Fred Korematsu before reading this. I’m not going to celebrate figures whose lives had little to no impact on my culture and my people.

    • IstvanIN

I don’t know about this Fred character but the more I find out about Cesar Chavez the more I feel he was more of a loyal American than McCain, Shumer, Pelosi, Reid, Boner, etc.

    • Pro_Whitey

.This reminds me of the recent displacement of the statue of white supremacist Tom Watson from the Georgia state house, eventually to be replaced by a statue of, who else, Marvin Loofah Keen Joonyer. White supremacy does not require a belief that whites are superior to other races. It requires only a realization that if whites do not seize and hold onto power, then other groups will seize it and put it to whites. And we end up with tributes to mediocrities and nobodies.

      • Tom B

And the vacuum that has been created is quickly filling with excrement.

    • Max

      J. E. probably already celebrates Korematsu Day.

  • D.B. Cooper

Yes, boys and girls. This is your no-spine Republican Party. They already have your vote, right? At least they aren’t as liberal as the democrats, right?

    • DonReynolds

D.B. ….. I always thought it was crummy salesmanship to tell the customer that your product was not quite as crappy as your competitor’s…..or maybe say yours is only slightly better than the competition.

    • JohnEngelman

When it comes to advancing the economic interests of the business community Republican politicians are rock ribbed.

  • Groovy

There has to be a more important Mexican American in our history than Caesar Chavez. He was just a socialist union organizer who got his picture taken with the Kennedys lots of times. Even JFK doesn’t have a holiday.

    • DudeWheresMyCountry?

I always mention when Caesar Chavez is in the air that he was against illegal immigration and unregulated borders because it drive wages down. Mexicans and liberals always walk away trying to get their panties unbunched.

  • sbuffalonative

I’m tempted to say just give it to them because they believe this will make some kind of difference (it won’t) and all this will do is fracture each ethnic/racial group along ethnic/racial lines, each claiming their ‘hero’ was was important.

    • DonReynolds

I am tired of giving in to the demands of the minorities and the Leftist Liberals, insisting that I at least pretend to suffer from a terrible case of White Guilt, even if I do not.

  • David Ashton

How many days are left in the PC Calendar? Surely they could fit in a white hero somewhere – how about an Alger Hiss or Benedict Arnold Day?

  • DudeWheresMyCountry?

I have had many a conversation about the internment of Japanese during WW2 with Asians. They often like to use it as their “Wounded Knee”, their “Amistad”of sorts. Non-Whites love to pretend the success of the West was just evil cheating and unfairness of Whitey. I shut it down and tell them that I don’t feel the least bit bad about it and would do the same. If it saved one American life it was worth it. War is for all the marbles if we lose, Japan doesn’t rebuild us and let us sell them cars if we lose WW2. Also I ask them if they know of the Japanese internment of the British during the war in places like Hong Kong, they never do. I let them know they have no moral high ground to walk on with this issue. They never have anything further to say.

    • So CAL Snowman

I causally mention the Bataan Death march, Unit 731 and the Rape of Nanking. The Japanese were quite capable of horrifying cruelty and violence and the US was right to be suspicious of these people.

      • When a friend told me the Japs committed cannibalism and ate our soldiers, I looked it up on wikipedia. It’s true.

        • dmxinc

          Read “Fly Boys.”

          Bush Sr. almost became lunch.

          • Max

            Damn! That close.

      • JohnEngelman

Japanese Americans were not responsible for that. Japanese American soldiers served well against the Germans.

        • D.B. Cooper

Yeah, yeah. I remember Mr. Miyagi telling us that when he was drunk in his WWII uniform. Speaking of which, Miyagi was originally supposed to be former Imperial Japanese Army, played by a meaner, tougher actor.

      • Laura Dilworth

        they buried our soldiers alive

    • Laura Dilworth

not like they have open borders in japan, like us

  • DudeWheresMyCountry?

Non-Whites and liberals are hopeless narcissists that are always desperately trying to overstate their importance and value. They all suffer from narcissistic rage as they act out their inferiority complexes in an attempt to magically erase them.

    • gemjunior

I just point out that ALL races and groups have done the same things as whites – explored, fought wars, rape, pillage & plunder. The difference is that white Europeans always won. The non-whites are the sore losers. Then I remind them about white men discovering every single thing they use and it enrages them further.
We need to put a STOP to all the pushing white hate. It’s now so dangerous when there are actual university programs devoted to hating a race and marginalizing them with the goal of genocide all while denying it and tacitly approving thuggish knockout kneegro attacks. The TV is pushing it, education from primary school through graduate school. The government, media, education complex all pushing white hatred and many of them are white. Seems that each and every one of us will have to start leaf-letting cars and find ways to alert our communities to what is going on. I know , I really know that many whites just do not know what is being done and planned for them.

      • Tom B

Sad, but true. Media has kept too many “whites in the dark”.
However, watch this summer, as flash mobs up the mayhem a few notches.
Then whites will finally get the message that it’s time to organize.

  • leftists are delusional

I’m all for the idea and we might as well add in a national holiday for the first African president while we are giving out undeserved holidays.

More days out of the year without federal government workers acting out the left’s destructive policies is better than the alternative.

  • Luca

This just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I can’t wait for more progress like this so we can have a national holiday for bin Laden, Saddam Hussein or Nidal Hasan. We’ve really overlooked our Muslim friends when it comes to special treatment. Let’s just give away the farm that our ancestor work for with blood, sweat and tears.

  • dd121

I’ll celebrate by putting lettuce on my ham sammich.

  • What did ol’ Cesar or Fred ever create? Did they invent something that people find valuable? NOPE. They’re just one brown and one yellow politician. Politicians decide these holiday things and they pander ever more to brown and yellow voters, including with giving holidays to idiots who deserve no such honor.

It’s time for Whites to totally disengage from this corrupt system. I no longer have the least bit of interest in celebrating the 4th of July or any other such holiday. This is not my country anymore and that’s my personal response. I intend to resist the system and do my best to milk it dry. Thus, let the morons in DC have their Che Guevara holiday or their Malcolm X holiday. Meaningless, to me anyway.

I wish I could influence young Whites to stay out of the military. That would be a real accomplishment as far as I’m concerned. Whites should not be fighting for a nonwhite country.

    • Tom B

When the finger pokes into the chest once too often, it’ll be time to poke back. Whites should start boycotting en masse major businesses that go against the interests of whites. On a rotating basis, that is, a month for this restaurant, a month for that gas station.

      • DonReynolds

        Great idea, Tom.
The Roman Catholic Irish invented the boycott in 1880.
Named after a hated British officer…..Captain Charles Boycott, who worked as a land agent.
Whites still know how to do that.

        • Tom B

Leave it to the Irish to come up with a good one. The fightenest, writenest lot there ever was…..

  • DonReynolds

Jesus Christ? Yeah, I can see that. (Christmas and Good Friday)
Christopher Columbus? Ok by me, even though I am not Roman Catholic or Italian.
George Washington? Makes sense, even though he owned slaves in Virginia.
Abe Lincoln? Not really, I am a Southerner.
Labor Day? If you say so, but not many belong to a labor union.
Independence Day? Yeah, that was a big deal.
Memorial Day? Veterans Day? Sure, I am a regular Army vet.
Thanksgiving? Yeah. One good meal a year is not too many.
MLK? Korematsu? Chavez? Stinko de Mayo? Earth Day (Lenin’s Birthday)? Naah…..

We already have some holidays and occasions that are not legal holidays, but fairly popular. If they actually need to add some more legal holidays, it might be better to use one we already do, rather than create a new one out of whole cloth…..

    Valentine’s Day February 14th
    Flag Day June 14th
    Saint Patrick’s Day March 17th
    April Fool’s Day April 1st
    Halloween October 31st

    • Rhialto

This brings up the matter of which White holiday would be eliminated to make room for Chavez Day; the Repubs would never antagonize their owners by adding a holiday. Probably Columbus Day would be axed, or Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day would be merged.

      • IstvanIN

Repubs would do that. Up until Christie took office NJ was closed for both Lincoln’s birthday (celebrated on his birthday) and Washington’s birthday (celebrated on President’s day). He combined them but didn’t do in MLK day. There should be no “president’s day”, who the heck wants to celebrate the birth of Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Carter, Clinton, Bush or Obama?

        • DonReynolds

Everybody knows you have to go to the “white sale” on Washington’s birthday.
Yes, they always had good prices on sheets, pillowcases, bed spreads, and blankets.
It was a more innocent time.

    • Kenner

      Halloween for the LGBTers.

      • Romulus

No, samhain (pronounced sow-heen) . The ancient celebration to honor your dead, not the commercialized money maker it’s become. This is at least a 4000 yr old Celtic/ Gallic celebration.

        • Olorin

          Thank you.

Marking and honoring the halfway point between the autumnal equinox and winter solstice probably dates back to well before the last Ice Age. People used to watch the sky a lot. Seafarers like the northern Celts had to be very aware of matters related to navigation. Cattlemen from the Isle of Man and Yorkshire told me that cattle herders like the inland Celts marked it as a fire festival, associated with when to drive the animals downland for better winter pastureage.

          • Romulus

Including the remnants of the original ancient greeks and Romans, my only other concern are European indigenous people and their descendants.

    • Ringo Lennon

Don’t forget great Tennesseans escorted Sherman on his “March to the sea”.

      • DonReynolds

        More than you would believe.
Tennessee was a Confederate state but provided more troops to the Union army than to the Confederate army.
In fact, Tennessee provided more troops to the Union army than any other Confederate state.

  • DailyKenn

I call it deculturalization. Every town has an MLK Blvd and a monument to Rosa Parks, but no one dares fly a Confederate flag or honor Christopher Columbus.

    • MBlanc46

Even the American flag is an endangered species.

      • r j p

Flag Day in Chicago means Mexicans driving around with Mexican car window flags. Send them all back. They are parasites who crap on their host.
        I can’t find the pics I took.

        • Ringo Lennon

I know where your coming from, bro! Cook county is 25% Mexican. 25%! This wasn’t so 30 years ago. Three devils did this. Gov’s Thompson and Edgar. Mayor Richie M. Daley. These cretins brought down a great city. Probably one of top two in U.S. New York Is first. BTW, people in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, etc., etc. dont know what a Mexican looks like.

          • MBlanc46

It’s absolutely crawling with them. Stone Park and Melrose Park are practically Mexican towns. If we can’t reverse this soon, we’re doomed.

          • Ringo Lennon

Plus, they have entire Fox River valley and O’Hare area.

          • TXCriollo

Chicago is a big destination for the mexicans in Houston, texas is gettin too sketch for the invaders

  • MBlanc46

Enforcing civil rights is one thing, banging the drum for national holidays is quite another. Mr. Castro ought to be fired.

  • paul marchand

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT THIS IS: one more attack against the US, esp ” white USA”. When these internment camps were established, MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS were getting killed in WWII. Roughly 416,000 American soldiers were killed. IT WAS WAR, JACKASS. In the midst of this, being that the Japs were fighting the Americans, the US decided ( wisely or foolishly?) to intern many Japanese-Americans, to prevent a FIFTH COLUMN. TO MAKE THIS IN EFFECT A NATIONAL HOLIDAY IS AN ATTEMPT TO EXTERMINATE WHITE PEOPLE, which white population has gone from 87% of births in 1950 to prospectively 25% in 20 years. This is preposterous. It is an attempt to further ” American guilt” , esp white guilt. It is HOMOCIDAL for anti-Americans to propose it ( which the US Civil Rights Commission is full of ) and it is SUICIDAL for whites to support it.

  • Ograf

Tell me this is a sick April fools day joke. To even consider the possibility makes my brain short circuitl

  • Ringo Lennon

Why not give any Mexican crossing the border a thousand dollars cash money?

  • John K

Korematsu shouldn’t get a holiday. Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor and there weren’t very many Japanese in America at that time. You have to do what you must to protect the nation.

Chavez was just another racist Mexican racist looking to get over on whitey.

  • mobilebay

How about a Dwight David Eisenhower Day? He was the last patriotic President we had. He demanded that illegal aliens return home and they did…no big deal…and we survived, just as we would now. The only difference now is that our “leaders” don’t have the courage to speak up today. They would rather pander to foreign interests than protect the people of this country and their jobs.

  • Tom B

    …Dr Living Stoned, I presume?

  • Paleo

More politically correct feel good days is exactly what we don’t need. But I am willing to compromise, not that I would normally compromise on principle ever: get rid of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and replace it with whatever flavor of the month rocks their little neo-Bolshevik hearts.

  • There are 260 weekdays in a year; let’s just make them all federal holidays and call it good.
