Confederate Flag Mistakenly Raised over Mississippi Supreme Court

Fox News, February 10, 2013

Officials say a mistake is to blame for the Confederate flag being raised over the Mississippi Supreme Court building on Friday.

Kym Wiggins, public information officer for the state Department of Finance and Administration, tells The Clarion-Ledger that the flag was put up accidentally when workers were replacing a worn Mississippi state flag.

Wiggins says workers had gone to a local vendor to get state flags and were given two boxes labeled “Mississippi State Flag.”

She says that unknown to the workers the boxes actually contained Confederate flags. The flag was up for about two hours.

Even though they probably just got here on a plane from Somalia…

  • Den

    beautiful! nice “accident” boys!

    • Puggg

For a moment, I thought it actually happened, and by “it,” I mean something good.

Next time, it won’t be an “accident.”

      • Cheri Rodriguez

Get ’em while you can. At some point, it’ll probably be illegal to own.

      • Garrett Brown

I was surprised they weren’t arrested this time. Then I learned it was a mestizo… Sad face.

  • Tim

Dollars to doughnuts it was an immigrant Hispanic work crew….

    • mrcan

      with a black supervisor

      • BannerRWB

On multiple occasions (I lost count) I have gone into local fast food restaurants to notify them that they were flying the Maryland state flag upside down. It got to where I kept printed examples, showing the flag right-side-up on a flagpole, in my car just in case I needed one. In every case, the workers were Hispanic or Black. Eventually, I just gave up; I now understand that the cause is lost. See you at the AMREN conference.

        • Katherine McChesney

Maryland is blue. Let it go. At least you tried.

          • StillModerated

It sure is, but their flag has 2 crosses on it to offend the ACLU. They can’t be all bad!

      • Bill

For several years I flew the 1st Confederate national flag on my pole while two families of blacks lived across the street. They thought it was the Betsy Ross flag, though they didn’t even know the proper name for that flag. They DO tend to recognize immediately the confederate battle flag though, but given how it’s not allowed to be flown anymore or be part of any State flag, they probably are losing their ability to determine even THAT. Hence, the two whole hours the nation was, as another poster stated, back to normal.

      • Room101

Nevertheless, the flag looks good flying like that no matter the crew who hoisted it. Job well done!

  • The__Bobster

The flag was up for about two hours.
    _______

I can guess who whined to get it taken down. (Lawdy, lawdy, da k beez back!)

Oh, and I’d like to thank the flag vendor who made the “mistake”.

  • MekongDelta69

She says that unknown to the workers the boxes actually contained Confederate flags.
Oh the horror, the horror. Somebody call Johnny Cochran. Oh wait… Da boy dayed.

The flag was up for about two hours.

So basically – for two hours – the country was back to normal…

    • zimriel

Southerners didn’t cross the border, the border crossed them!

    • Room101

      LMAO! So right on!

  • Blaak Obongo

So a Confederate battle flag was accidentally raised for a whole two hours, and it makes the national news?

Unlike the ongoing black “flash mob” atrocities, of course.

    • Garrett Brown

Give whoever did it a medal. That’s the most honorable symbol to be around that court house in a LONG time I would wager.

    • John

It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if only Blacks were involved. Jackson, MS is a another chocolate city with a Black “government” and Black affirmative-action hires.

If true, and Blacks were responsible for the flag incident out of sheer ignorance, then the story reminds me of all of the other stories where the mass media immediately spun the details as indicative of racism, only to completely drop the story when it turned out that only Blacks were involved.

Do you recall the Atlanta case a few years ago when an elderly Black woman, Kathyrn Johnston, was shot down in her home in a botched drug raid that went wrong [1]?

At first, it was unclear what happened. The media hastily showed that an elderly Black woman was brutally shot and killed by police officers who had gunned her down in cold blood. You may recall the outrage, which the media strongly inferred was a “racist” event. Almost immediately, Al Sharpton and his ilk descended upon Atlanta, stoked the flames of the race-baiters, and began organizing civil rights demonstrations [2] while demanding civil rights justice for Ms. Johnston.

Suddenly, more facts in the case emerged. It turned out that all of the narcotics officers on the drug raid were Black. The mayor was Black. The chief of police was Black.
The victim was Black and the incident happened in an all-Black neighborhood.
Absolutely no Whites were involved at any level! Sharpton, his angry mobs, and the mediots couldn’t blame Whites! The media immediately dropped the story without ever backtracking on the implications of racism and the strong suggestions that racist White cops lynched a defenseless Black grandmammy in her home!

There are numerous other examples, too, of fake racism stories collapsing when it was ultimately revealed that only Blacks were involved; far too numerous to cite here. Hell, in some cases, even Mestizos with Black ancestors mixed into their genome are recharacterized as “White Hispanics”, as was the case in Miami shooting of Soetoro’s “if-be son”, Trayvon Martin, last year.

  • So CAL Snowman

Quick someone check and see if a black person has filed a lawsuit over this. “The flag reminded me of slavery and I was forced to skip work and lost my job. You done owes me da gibs”

  • GB101

The actual Mississippi state flag contains the Confederate Battle Flag.

    • SmithandSmith

How so True. Upper Right Hand Corner if Memory Serves correctly..

  • Katherine McChesney

Beautiful. Great “mistake”. Wonder how law-abiding whites of Mississippi felt about it? I hope it made the blacks nervous. Hahahaha.

    • SmithandSmith

Hahahahha!!! I Luv It! I will probably get alickin’ here from folks but and here goes,

I feel sorry for the non-whites. They’re not able to do much of anything on their own and the worse of the worse kinds of whites and jews are in charge of them (american outsourcing, american government, etc.). I mean to say, non-whites were better off when they were made to behave (tough love).

      • Andy

I read recently that in the south during slavery (where they made up a considerable part of the population) blacks were charged with 0.06% of the crimes. Now the actually crimes committed may have been higher, as owners were taking responsibility for it instead of the police, but that’s still shocking.

        • SmithandSmith

While I have no proof, here’s what I believe:

Blacks committed the same kind of violence back then that they do today and that yes, you’re right when you say, it went unreported because it was handled privately.

  • storibund

I do hope counselors were available for those suffering from the trauma and horror of being exposed to it.

    • Charles Edward Lincoln III

How about those of us suffering from the trauma and horror of having our battle flag of freedom taken down after only two hours?

      • Garrett Brown

I got extremely excited when I saw this article tonight. Much more excited than the black pope or any other… I was deeply saddened it was only two hours.

  • Bobbala

There’s got to be a lawsuit in there somewhere.

  • mobilebay

    The South will rise again!

    • SmithandSmith

      Amen!

  • SmithandSmith

No comment section on the “article”. How convenient…

This Confederate Battle Flag should be Hanging Everywhere Right Now as it is. The reason I Fly Her is because, I’m ready for War. Americans need to prepare for and understand, these “new americans” don’t care for you. You are merely a pest to be swatted away is what they think of you. And they do this in your Own Country and right in your face too. Talk about nerve…

  • bigone4u

CNN and MSNBC will not forget this one, even though it was allegedly unintentional. The Democrats will use it in the next election cycle to scare blacks into voting. And finally, white liberals like the SPLC will use it in their fundraising efforts to cajole libs into giving them money. It’s a winner for libs all the way around.

    • Room101

Like the Left wouldn’t use such a ‘mistake’ made by government-employees against the taxpayers of Mississippi anyway?
Look @ that photo, that rocks.

  • IstvanIN

I am waiting for the white flag to be raised over Washington so Mexico knows we have officially surrendered.

    • Joseph

They’ll just bypass the white flag altogether and hoist a Mexican flag with a rainbow flag beneath so no one feels left out.

  • Michael_C_Scott

I wish they would do that in Denver.

  • LHathaway

it was white mainstream americans doing what they are told to ‘hightlight injustice’

  • Last week, I read an article that robotics clubs are more popular both in participation and in raw number in Minnesota high schools than hockey clubs.

I can only hope one day that robotics will be more popular than football in Mississippi. But it won’t be as long as Mississippi has The Millstone hanging around its necks. But when I think about this topic, all it does is depress me and remind me that the Minnesota-to-Mississippi DWL sanctimony on race and segregation (historically, not so much anymore) was once about the same as the Sweden-to-South Africa sanctimony on race and apartheid.

  • Fr. John+

“Workers thought it was the state flag.”

It is. The WBTS was an illegal, immoral usurpation of the rights of Free, White Men. And, as the POTUS has shown, he ‘ain’t MY prezidunt.’ Neither is his accursed flag.

  • thoth-ibis

Emmanuel Goldstein ( 1984) and Snowball ( Animal Farm ) are to blame for this outrage ! The Rebel flag is the banner that defies our beloved leaders. ….or so George Orwell might say.

  • Gozer the Gozarian

The South – always fighting (and losing) a defensive war. Defense may win football games, but offense wins the political ones. If you want your symbols, you must take down theirs. That American flag in the background is a disgrace. Every one of our flags taken down must end with two of theirs removed.

Stop complaining and start acting. Let your local businesses, neighbors, and friends know that you find the American flag offensive, that it should be taken down. Build an organization with this goal as its primary aim. If you want to be free, you must throw off the chains of oppression. Having dual loyalties is like fighting with both hands tied behind your back.
