Chris Rock Attacks Conservative Author over Tea Party Question

Wynton Hall, Breitbart, March 14, 2012

The New York Times bestselling author of the explosive new book, Hollywood Hypocrites: The Devastating Truth About Obama’s Biggest Backers, Jason Mattera, had his crew’s camera snatched and hurled by comedian Chris Rock when he asked the star why he has called the Tea Party racist (video below).

“I was stunned,” said Mr. Mattera in an exclusive interview with Big Hollywood. “Tea Party members get called the worst things imaginable and still remain peaceful. But ask a big Hollywood celebrity to explain himself and the guy goes ballistic, wrestles the camera away from my camerawoman, chucks it 50 feet, and then challenges me to a fight. It’s unreal. And it perfectly illustrates why I decided to investigate and write Hollywood Hypocrites.”

The confrontation, which took place around 2:00 a.m. on January 23, 2012, at Spike Lee’s Sundance Film Festival after party at Tao night club, ended with Chris Rock challenging the conservative author to a fight, says Mr. Mattera:

“Chris Rock shouted, ‘You want to throw down?  Let’s throw down right now!’ Of course, he was standing safely behind two bodyguards when he said it.”

The clash was ignited when Jason Mattera inquired about disparaging comments Chris Rock made about the Tea Party in an Esquire article in 2011:

When I see the Tea Party and all this stuff, it actually feels like racism’s almost over. Because this is the last—this is the act up before the sleep. They’re going crazy. They’re insane. You want to get rid of them—and the next thing you know, they’re fucking knocked out. And that’s what’s going on in the country right now.

That’s because he doesn’t really know why it’s considered racist or if it truly should be considered racist. He knows only what he’s heard from his little social circles, and he knows what the acceptable Hollywood stance is about the Tea Party, and everything else. He didn’t have a clue when pressed.

Also, he’s black, and deep down,  still typical.

  • Chris cRock is a foul potty-mouth partisan hypocrite?  Who knew?

Answer:  Most of us reading this webpage for a long time.

    • The_Bobster

Last week the Today show cut out a Matt         Lauer interview with comedian Chris Rock.         The interview aired live on the east coast but         was edited from the west coast broadcast.         Their spokesperson said, “The language was         inappropriate for morning TV, especially for         the many children who are off from school         and watching at that hour.” In case you missed         it, what comedian Chris Rock said was that if         President Clinton would give him a pardon,         “I’d whip Ken Starr’s ass.” He also referred to         Ken Starr as a scumbag, as if we didn’t know         that. Chris Rock’s reaction was, “I find it odd         that the people at Today felt that talk of         stained dresses and violent crimes was more         suitable for morning TV than me joking about         whupping Ken Starr.”

      • Their spokesperson said, “The language was inappropriate for morning TV,
especially for the many children who are off from school and watching
        at that hour.”

How many children watch the Today show?  If they have the day off from school, they’re still sleeping.  We both know they edited out to save Chris Crock’s “reputation.”

        • The_Bobster

The interview aired in 70% of the U.S. markets. What was cleansed were the internet articles about this interview. It took a lot of searching to find an unedited one.

I can’t find the picture of Beelzebuuba wearing an Afro wig on the web anymore, even though it used to exist. I do find references to it, though.

        • Bon, From the Land of Babble

It was the camera woman he attacked — but he didn’t call her a slut so all is well.

  • Dan Reardon

Blacks behaving like Blacks always do-impulsive, irrational and often violent when confronted with something they don’t want to address. This doesn’t surprise me in the least.

  • Hirschibold

Anyone who has heard Chris Rock’s act and is still surprised by this needs to check themselves into Bellevue. From Rock’s HBO stand-up Special “Never Scared:” “Farrakhan hates the Jews, which is strange to me. Black people don’t hate Jews. We hate white people. We hate every one of y’all. Even if you’re a** just got here. You could be like ‘Hey I’m Romanian.’ That’s nice, ya Romanian cracker.”

That’s one of the more moderate chestnuts. Still, he can’t hold a candle to Paul Mooney (the comedian, not the actor) in terms of anti-white animus.

    • He wouldnt DARE to say a word against the jews. When he attacks whites he gets paid big buck$. One word sabout jews and he is broke. (And what an ugly,funny-looking,street person he looks like. He looks dirty and diseased in that clip.)

      • Hirschibold

Why wouldn’t he get away with bashing Jews as easily as whites? It worked for Sharpton.

        • The_Bobster

How many years ago was that?

  • anarchyst

Not surprising . . . you can take the black out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto out of the black . . .

  • When I saw the vid I thought he was trying to rape the camerawoman. For dangerous work like chimpouts you should use a bruiser for a cameraman.

  • TCB: Typical Comedian Behavior.

    • Hirschibold

       Oh, Uncle Paul!

  • sbuffalonative

As soon as the Tea Party formed, the hate campaign went into overdrive spreading lies and  disinformation.

One group was Crash the Tea Party:

“The site encouraged people to infiltrate the tea party, then misspell protest signs, make wild claims during interviews and perform other public actions that would damage the public’s opinion of the tea party.”
There was (and still is) a united effort to tar the Tea Party with any and every hate moniker. The result has been a great deal of knee-jerk paranoia.

Mr. Rock is reacting as he has been programed to react. Any group of white people is a KKK lynch mob.

    • And when the infiltration-goon tactics didn’t work, they went out, put a fresh coat of paint over the same recycled far left street hacks, and called it “Occupy.”

      • The_Bobster

But first they had to spread lies about the TP, lies the libtarded MSM eagerly spread without checking their veracity:

Abusive, derogatory and even racist behavior directed at House Democrats by Tea Party protesters on Saturday left several lawmakers in shock.

Preceding the president’s speech to a gathering of House Democrats, thousands of protesters descended around the Capitol to protest the passage of health care reform. The gathering quickly turned into abusive heckling, as members of Congress passing through Longworth House office building were subjected to epithets and even mild physical abuse.

A staffer for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told reporters that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spat on by a protestor. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a hero of the civil rights movement, was called a ‘ni–er.’ And Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) was called a “faggot,” as protestors shouted at him with deliberately lisp-y screams. Frank, approached in the halls after the president’s speech, shrugged off the incident.

But Clyburn was downright incredulous, saying he had not witnessed such treatment since he was leading civil rights protests in South Carolina in the 1960s.

        • Whoever has proof that the n-word and the f-word was used in that way better hurry up so they can get the $100k from Breitbart’s estate.

On the one hand, I can see why Breitbart put up that money, just to prove that it didn’t happen.  But on the other hand, he was promulgating the notion that the “tea party isn’t racist.”  Even if they were called n-word and f-word, if that’s the worst thing that happened to any of them, then they lived pretty charmed lives.  After all, these were the same people who at that time were in the process of saddling the United States with a health care bill that has now been proven to to be twice as expensive as its proponents claimed, the whole purpose not being health care per se, but government control, totally altering the relationship between citizen and state.  Which is worse?  Being called “N” or “F,” or ObamaCare itself?

      • Zorro

        You might find this interesting:

  • I always thought that the Tea Party was concerned with issues such as smaller government, lower taxes, and cuts in social services. This appeals to people regardless of race. I have seen Black tea partiers. I wonder what Chris Rock thinks of them?

    • Uncle Toms…..

    • StivD

No, it doesn’t necessarily appeal to ‘people regardless of race’. You’ll find very, very few blacks that will actively work against those things. You’ll find some that don’t make use of them, but that’s it.

See,  higher taxes for Them; costly social services for Them, and a large government working for Them is their due.

    • Blacks no more support the “non-racial” TPM agenda than they support overt white nationalism.  That’s because EBT cards don’t grow on trees, somebody’s tax money needs to feed them.

    • Sonya610

lower taxes, and cuts in social services

Yes true, and that be racis’. Cuttin’ dem benefits of de welfare momma’s and de chilluns that be need’n food and cell fones!

      • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Or as Rep. Charlie Rangel, RACE-N.Y., a founding member of the CBC, said of the 1994 GOP House:

“It’s not s*** and n***** anymore. They say, ‘Let’s cut taxes.'”

        • Zorro

Sure. Who pays the taxes, and who eats up 90% of them?

      • Shawn_thefemale

Your post gave me a giggle and made me think of something that happened in my business last Friday. I had a call from an obviously black, obviously unedumacated woman,  who took 5 minutes to irritate me with plainly stupid, annoying questions that any person over 10 years old with common sense would know the answer to. She was ‘axing’ (repeatedly) about wedding invitations for her daughter (stunning, I know), and finally I’d reached my limit. She ‘axed’, “So do you be open tomorrow?”  I lost it and said loudly, “No, we don’t  DO BE OPEN on Saturday!! (Emphasis on ‘be open’.) We DO BE OPEN Monday through Friday. And it’s not BE OPEN! It’s ‘ARE YOU OPEN’ tomorrow. ‘BE OPEN” is bad grammar! And I hung up. I don’t expect to see her when we be open Monday.

        • Beloved Comrade

Be careful.  You may not see the illiterate black when you “be” open on Monday, but you may have elicited a visit from the thought police who will claim you run a racist business unwelcoming to blacks.

And, you may see a boycott of your business by an Al $harpton type for a “racist” remark and for “dissing” blacks.  Don’t expect anyone to come to your defense.

          • Zorro

I own a Business too, and I don’t advertise in any Newspaper. Word of mouth is how my Business has grown over the years, and I have been selective about who I will take on as a client, no matter what they look like.

If someone is a major pain in the rear, they get the boot out the door, to the curb. I don’t need anyone’s business that badly.

          • Beloved Comrade

I agree with you and know all about PIA customers and clients, the customer isn’t always right. I spent part of the morning in court yesterday, fortunately the client didn’t show so I won by default. Now I have to collect by attaching his wages.

But, that is far different from actively insulting customers by using “cute” accents over the phone or mocking someone’s manner of speech. I consider that type of behavior to be out of line.

As you know, it pays to be civil at all times.

          • Shawn_thefemale

It was not my standard business behavior. It was a once in a million, end-of-a-hellish week meltdown with one more unbelievably, stereotypically low IQ, ebonic whiz. We all have them. I would wager that includes you.

          • Beloved Comrade

The dog-eat-dog business/financial world I move in takes a fairly high IQ and a lot of economic savvy, something few blacks and browns possess, thus I am able to avoid them.  The few I deal with align with Thomas Sowell and live in white areas.  None speak ebonics would be a death knell to their careers.

I am also well aware that black activists actively look for any possible opening to sue people like me and any business they want to shake down on grounds of racism.  The laws are on their side, not on mine.

As I mentioned above, I was just in court, shaking in my boots as to how a judge was going to rule even though I was 100% in the right according to the law (for non payment of services). I won because the other party didn’t show up, but I don’t always.

It’s hard enough fighting the government what with their business-busting mandates and regulations, it means I must  sleep with one eye open at all times and I certainly don’t want to give them any fuel for their fires.

Best of luck to you in the future.

        • Zorro

Dealing with the public does offer so many rewards.

  • How he gonna go from lsightly annoyed to throwing cameras? Crazy NIGGA!!!

  • StivD

It’s over in mainstream politics and mainstream American institutions, yes. But there are a lot of disgruntled people these days; they just haven’t all come to a whole, racial understanding of their problems. I’m not sure about the whole picture yet myself.

  • Sonya610

Chris Rock is a known racist. Several years ago he was appearing in Atlanta and a popular alternative rock station (white) asked him if they could have some tickets as give-aways for listeners.

He clearly stated he does not give away tickets or anything else to non-blacks.  Some of his skits are amusing, just make sure you aren’t paying for them.

    • Zorro

That’s OK. You couldn’t give me tickets to that idiot’s “Show”.

  • Carney3

Like a panhandler trying to get your attention and disarm your wariness by first asking you for something innocuous like the time or directions, Mattera lied his way into getting access of sorts to Rock by pretending to be a fan, asking for a photo, etc., before then launching the “ambush” interview and grilling him on his controversial comments.  No wonder Rock was annoyed.

    • Yeah, the poor baby got his feelings hurt.  My heart really bleeds for him, and I’m really indignant that someone (sorta) like us (sorta) scammed his way to set him up.

      • Carney3

Fine, want to be a ruthless tough guy who wipes himself with the Golden Rule? Then don’t play the shocked, shocked victim when someone you’ve lied to and are deliberately annoying socks you in the mouth or throws the camera you’re shoving in his face down the hall.

        • StivD

He deserves to be called on his remarks, no matter how it’s done. As a black, he’s had every soft, sweetheart interview(er) there is. They’ll never ask loudmouthed blacks the hard questions.

        • How old are you?

If you don’t want to answer this question, then I’ll understand.

          • Carney3

            I don’t suppose there’s any harm in telling you I’m 39.

          • First off, Erin Go Bragh.

Okay, then maybe it’s me.  Perhaps I’m too young (35 in a few weeks) to be as cynical as I am.  I figured you for late teens or early twenties, as someone who thinks he can “change the world” and “make a difference,” several years away from finding out the world is a hell of a lot stubborn than we gave it credit for in our high school and college term papers.

        • occa0577

Rock constantly verbally attacks whites, he is the one who should be attacked back (verbally). He is the enemy and should be exposed by whatever means necessary. He doesn’t deserve this  liberal “respect”.

          • Carney3

Rock attacks whites, yes, but his attack on “n*****s” for embarrassing him as a black man is legendary and will never die. I suspect in fact that his anti-white talk is penance in a sense for that. Most importantly, he’s FUNNY.

          • occa0577

You need to do a youtube search of Chris Rock monolgues. When talking to a mixed crowd, he makes “cute” remarks of both black and white stereotypes. When he is amongst his own, he is extremely anti-white. Look for his Johannesburg, South Africa show. That is a good example. He basically laughs at and endorses black on white violence, saying the “cracker” word over and over. That is just one example of many. I don’t care how clever some of his work is. Those comments kill it for me. Saying that Chris Rock is funny is like telling a Jewish person that a certain nazi tells funny jokes sometime…so he must be ok.

          • occa0577

Don’t ignore very obvious facts about racial reality. Liberals do that to avoid bad feelings and promote diversity. Don’t fall into that trap. It reminds me of some of the German Jewish businessmans’ attitudes toward Hitler when he was elected Chancellor. “Oh he’s not that bad, he will be good for business”…and remember what happened to them.

  • ViktorNN

I’ve read articles and comments where blacks say that white people “shut down” when the topic of race and racism comes up. This observation is supposed to “prove” that whites don’t want to confront the racist attitudes that they still hide deep inside in this day and age, or some sort of nonsense.

The truth is that whites talk about race and racism with blacks at their own peril. This video is a classic example of that.

To blacks there is only one way a discussion with whites about race and racism should go: whites should listen to what blacks say and agree.

Anything else is just whites being racist, and all bets are off – violence is fully justifiable.

Whites “shut down” around blacks when the topic of race comes up because whites rightly don’t want to deal with black people becoming violent, and because they know that there is no possible way to have a frank and honest discussion with blacks, where blacks confront their own racism, their own double standards and hypocrisy. Blacks aren’t interested in that.

  • radical7

Not all Black men are rapists despite what many of you bigoted nutcases think.

    • StivD

Tendencies are all it takes for suspicion.

    • robinbishop34

Are all white men bigoted nutcases?

  • Forgive me, but I don’t speak ebonics.  Could someone translate what Rock said?  I mean, I know he was insulting the Tea Party, but what exactly did he say?

    • Zorro

What happened to the old White lady on “Airplane” who spoke Jive?

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Rock’s the guy who wrote in his book Rock This!  that he thinks Nicole Brown Simpson’s bereaved mother and sister should be forced to **** OJ if he were found innocent of Nicole’s murder.

    Nice, huh?
Rock also relates a “hilarious” story about an older relative who married a White woman.  Rock writes when the race war comes, he’s going to kill her right away to show he “means business.”
He also showed his civility by calling Laura Ingraham a “b****” to her face on the air on Politically Incorrect show.  But this was Maher’s venue so it was OK, slut would have been OK too.
These scum need to be exposed for the hypocrites that they are.
The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance.
Robert A. HeinleinYes, M. Heinlein,  the United States is also a place where racist blacks are given immunity for their vile, racist language and are allow go to a** when called on it.Bon

    • Zorro

There’s nothing entertaining about these vile creatures.

  • MartelC

Most of the left  react this way because they are simply not used to having their nonsense challenged. That’s why they are increasingly trying to marginalize any conservative viewpoints.

If there is one thing that is becoming increasingly evident, the left cannot stand up to a reasoned, fair debate, and they are rightfully frightened of the general public even beginning to think that its ok to question their views.

That’s why the media is so carefull managed.. Chris Rock, the “irreverent”, “cool” black comedian who spends most of his time disparaging other people can’t take a little ‘ribbing’ himself…

    • Zorro

I would love to see Don Rickles cut Chris Rock up on television.

  • jackellis

Sorry to see this. Apparently Chris Rock feels he needs to toe the Hollywood Lib/min party line to stay in thie Biz.

Chris Rock had some of the best, most accurate commentaries on the failure s of the lower class Black community.

His video “How not to get your ass beat by the police” is one of the funniest, most accurate commentaries about the stupid things young Black males do to cause police officers to try to beat their as&$&$

  • bluffcreek1967

Liberals and Blacks always seem shocked when Whites ask them pointed and politically-incorrect questions because they are so accustomed to being asked soft-ball questions. They know they are not held to the same standard of ethical conduct nor intellectual honesty as conservative Whites are – and so it tends to jar them when forthright and honest questions are asked.

One more point. Why do liberals and Blacks so often resort to violence when they are confronted with uncomfortable questions? We all know why, but it only proves to show that while liberals want others to believe how ‘tolerant’ and ‘peaceful’ they are, their actual conduct demonstrates otherwise.

  • Zorro

Can you imagine what the White House must smell like, now?

  • Zorro

Do you think Chris Rock would have granted the interview any other way?

  • Beloved Comrade

Word of mouth can destroy a business. I know because I own a business.

Thomas Pak, a Korean trying to run a mini-mart in Texas found out the hard way.

“The protests are held six days a week and are organized by top leaders of the local NAACP and the Nation of Islam, among other groups. Their complaints: That the Kwik Stop, owned by a Korean immigrant, charges unreasonable prices and disrespects black customers.”

“The owner, Thomas Pak, says he never intended to disrespect anyone.”
