Fight over Volleyball Skills Ends with Stabbing

Cherokee County sheriff’s Sgt. Jay Baker said deputies responding to a 3 a.m. call at the Shadowood Mobile Home Park off Bells Ferry Road found Jose Gonzales, 22, with a large stab wound to his back and arm.

Baker said the incident was believed to have been sparked by an argument between Gonzales and three other men “over who was the best volleyball player.”

Deputies were looking for Mario Leija, 28, of Woodstock, who they believe stabbed Gonzales, Baker said.
