Three Shot at Lauderhill Mall Festival; Six Men Detained

Alva James-Johnson, South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Fort Lauderdale), Mar. 14

A shooting at Unite-a-Fest at Lauderhill Mall left three people injured late Sunday, the same day the city received national recognition for the annual event.

Sgt. Tundra King, a spokeswoman for Lauderhill police, said a man was in critical condition, and a woman and another man appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries. She said the victims were transported to Broward General Medical Center, and police detained six men who they suspect were involved in the incident.
