Asian News International, Oct. 26

LONDON: A new poll by the New Nation newspaper has named Jesus Christ as the number one black icon, after he was voted the most important person in black history.

The poll named the civil rights movement leader, Martin Luther King as the second most important black person, while talk show queen Oprah Winfrey and singing legend Bob Marley also made it to the list, reports the Sun .

The 10 most important black icons of all time were:

1—Jesus Christ

2—Dr Martin Luther King

3—Malcolm X

4—Nelson Mandela

5—Muhammad Ali

6—Mary Seacole

7—Oprah Winfrey

8—Bob Marley

9—Marcus Garvey

10—Black inventors, including Garrett Morgan, George Washington Carver and Elijah McCoy
