Simpson murder trial, has died. He was 74.<\/p>\n<p>Fuhrman was one of the first two police detectives sent to investigate the 1994 killings of Simpson\u2019s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles. He reported finding a bloody glove at Simpson\u2019s home but his credibility came under attack during the trial as the defense raised the prospect of racial bias.<\/p>\n<p>Under cross-examination, Fuhrman testified that he had never made anti-Black racial slurs in the past decade, but a recording showed he had done so repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p>Lynn Acebedo, the chief deputy coroner in Kootenai County, Idaho, said that Fuhrman died May 12. The county does not release the cause of death as a rule.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Fuhrman retired from the Los Angeles Police Department after Simpson\u2019s 1995 acquittal. He subsequently moved to Idaho with his family and set up a 20-acre (eight-hectare) farm, raising chickens, goats, sheep and llamas.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996, Fuhrman was charged with perjury and pleaded no contest. He later became a TV and radio commentator and wrote the book \u201cMurder in Brentwood\u201d about the killings.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Fuhrman\u2019s father left when he was 7 years old, and Fuhrman often cared for his younger brother while his mother worked. Pritzker&#8217;s (D.) administration offers a taxpayer-funded training on &#8220;microaggressions&#8221; and other &#8220;exclusionary behaviors&#8221; that depicts white people and police officers as mosquitoes who suck blood from people of color.<\/p>\n<p>The training\u2014which Pritzker&#8217;s Department of Human Rights offers to &#8220;private-sector, government, and public participants&#8221; and which the Washington Free Beacon attended\u2014is meant to &#8220;increase knowledge, awareness and prevention of discrimination and harassment issues and offer solutions to employers and employees on how to appropriately respond to situations as they arise.&#8221; It defines &#8220;microaggressions&#8221; as &#8220;the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons solely based upon their marginalized group membership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The training divides such &#8220;microaggressions&#8221; into two categories: those that are &#8220;race-based&#8221; and those that go &#8220;beyond race.&#8221; The former category includes &#8220;color blindness&#8221;\u2014which the training says &#8220;denies a person of color&#8217;s racial\/ethnic experience.&#8221; It also includes the &#8220;assumption of criminal status&#8221;\u2014for example, a &#8220;store owner [who] follows a customer of color around the store&#8221;\u2014and &#8220;denial of individual racism,&#8221; including statements like &#8220;My best friend is Black.&#8221; The latter category includes &#8220;micro-insults,&#8221; like calling a person of color &#8220;articulate,&#8221; as well as &#8220;micro-invalidation,&#8221; which includes &#8220;buildings named only after white men.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those examples are presented in a video shown in the training called &#8220;How Microaggressions Are Like Mosquito Bites.&#8221; The beginning of the video depicts a blonde white woman who calls a black woman &#8220;well-spoken&#8221; while the two wait at a bus stop. The white woman transforms into a mosquito that bites the black woman and begins sucking her blood. Similar scenes play out as the microaggressing mosquitoes say things like &#8220;Your English is so good&#8221; and &#8220;We have to keep the Redskins name.&#8221; Toward the end of the video, a narrator says that experiencing &#8220;microaggressions&#8221; can make you &#8220;want to go ballistic on those mosquitoes&#8221; as a black woman torches the pests with a flamethrower. Police officers, meanwhile, are presented as &#8220;mosquitoes&#8221; that &#8220;carry strains that can even kill Dallas \u2014 are vowing in an announcement expected Tuesday to investigate incidents of suspected voter intimidation by federal agents deployed at the behest of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>The coalition also includes Minnesota\u2019s Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, who filed charges Monday against an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent for shooting a man during an immigration raid.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Their announcement, obtained in advance by POLITICO, comes after Trump declined to rule out sending the National Guard or ICE agents laptops, as well as T-shirts and skateboard decks with the logo for VC Defensa, a volunteer-based group that has been documenting immigration raids and detentions in Ventura Ilhan Omar was in on the $250 million scam.<\/p>\n<p>Aimee Bock, founder of nonprofit Feeding Our Future, was convicted in March 2025 of conspiracy, bribery and wire fraud for allegedly helping restaurant owners file fake or inflated claims during the pandemic to steal millions in child nutrition funds from the government.<\/p>\n<p>She spoke to The Post by video call this week from Sherburne County Jail, where she is awaiting sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI struggle to believe that she wouldn\u2019t have known,\u201d Bock said of Omar.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of members of Minnesota\u2019s Somali community have been convicted of fraudulently billing the state\u2019s Department of Education for millions of meals they claimed they served to low-income children during the COVID outbreak \u2014 while pocketing much of the money.<\/p>\n<p>Bock has consistently denied knowingly participating in the fraud and insisted she tried to warn state officials. Her group would review the reimbursement paperwork sent by the local restaurants supposed to provide meals, send them out and then distribute the federal funds to them.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Omar was instrumental in loosening the laws that set the stage for the scheme \u2014 first by introducing the MEALS Act to Congress in March 2020, which allowed the US Department of Agriculture to issue waivers of school-meal requirements during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The waivers dramatically eased oversight of the federal programs by allowing restaurants to participate without any of the usual site inspections.<\/p>\n<p>Omar would personally step in whenever those waivers ran out, allowing the rampant fraud to continue, Bock alleged.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>According to Bock, 45, the six email exchanges with Omar were about help with the waivers, after Feeding Our Future reached out to the \u201cSquad\u201d rep\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The waivers opened the floodgates for scores of Somali eateries to join in, like Safari, where Omar herself filmed a promotional video claiming \u201cevery day Safari provides 2,300 meals to children and their families\u201d in May 2020. She also held her 2018 election night party there.<\/p>\n<p>By that July, Safari claimed to be feeding 5,000 kids a day. Castro, 52, had not been disclosed until Monday. Mr. Castro was charged with four counts of second-degree assault, a felony, and one count of falsely reporting a crime, a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>A state investigation into the Jan. 14 shooting of the immigrant, Julio C. Sosa-Celis, had been stymied by the refusal of federal agencies to share information, including the names of the two agents involved in a chase that preceded the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sosa-Celis, who was shot in the leg, was one of three people shot by federal agents during the immigration crackdown in Minnesota over the winter. Agents also shot and killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota prosecutors have acknowledged that they face formidable practical and legal challenges in prosecuting federal agents for on-duty conduct. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution gives federal officials broad immunity from state prosecution, but Minnesota officials say those protections are not absolute. If Mr. Castro seeks to have the case moved to federal court and a judge agrees, Ms. Moriarty said her office would continue to pursue the prosecution there.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>According to the criminal complaint, on the night of the shooting, the F.B.I. and state law enforcement agents jointly interviewed an ICE agent who said he was the partner of the agent who fired his gun. The agent who was interviewed, who was involved in the chase but did not shoot his weapon, identified Mr. Castro, according to the complaint. State officials later subpoenaed Mr. Castro\u2019s medical records from a hospital where he sought treatment, Ms. Moriarty said. She said those records corroborated that Mr. Castro was at the scene of the shooting that night.<\/p>\n<p>Federal officials have not confirmed that it was Mr. Castro who fired the shot. The F.B.I. excluded state agents from the investigation after that first joint interview, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>{snip}<\/p>\n<p>Both Mr. Sosa-Celis and the housemate, Alfredo A. Aljorna, who was also from Venezuela and in the country illegally, were charged with federal felonies.<\/p>\n<p>Within weeks, the federal government\u2019s account began to unravel. Video footage of the incident obtained by The New York Times showed no sustained attack with a shovel and contradicted the agent\u2019s claim of a roughly three-minute beating.
