Joe Biden Links Voter-ID Laws to ‘Hatred’

Edward-Isaac Dovere, Politico, February 25, 2014

Vice President Joe Biden used remarks at a reception he hosted in honor of African-American History Month to swing hard at the “malarkey” of voting right restrictions around the country—specifically, citing voter ID laws in North Carolina, Alabama and Texas as offenders.

As he’s done before, Biden linked the voting rights fight now to the civil rights movement of the 1960s, calling the people trying to restrict voting now the intellectual descendants of those who beat the movement’s leaders in Selma 50 years ago.

“These guys never go away. Hatred never, never goes away,” Biden said.

{snip}

“The zealotry of those who wish to limit the franchise cannot be smothered by reason,” he said.

Biden expressed optimism that Congress would pass legislation to address the parts of the Voting Rights Act overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court last June.

“This fight has been too long, this fight has been too hard, to do anything other than win—not on the margins, but flat-out win.”

Biden left time for some lighter moments, though. Acknowledging the presence of Sacramento Mayor—and former NBA star—Kevin Johnson in the room, the vice president said, “I told the president, next game, I’ve got him.”

{snip}

“I may be a white boy,” Biden said, “but I can jump.”

Accusing whites of “hatred” if they disagree is all they have. They want to ultimately outlaw all opposition.

    • Homo_Occidentalis

He’d be right. You’d be hard pressed to find a sane, tax-paying white who doesn’t hate illegals! Let them spread the word far and wide. By not denying it, we show them how useless their slander has become.
Liberals everywhere fear the day that “racists” no longer try to deny their hatred, for they’ll have lost their only weapon against us.

      • dd121

I got there a long time ago.

“I may be a white boy,” Biden said, “but I can jump.”

Biden is disgusting. His statement is ugly and demeaning. Imagine the outcry that would ensue if a black politician said: “I may be black, but I know who my real daddy is” ?

      • dd121

Most of Biden’s attempts at “humor” go, “kerplunk”.

        • AndrewInterrupted

Yeah, he’s a net negative for the Libtardian Party.

      • newscomments70

I’m sure the blacks he is kissing up to are ridiculing him as well.

      • John R

Or, I may be a “black boy” but I am not stupid. Yep, he is such a self-hating White. What did Jared Taylor say: Some White people love to feel good about feeling bad about being White.

      • Geo1metric

“I may be black, but I know who my real daddy is” ?

        No one would believe him.

  • Rhialto

Does Veep Biden believe that laws that keep illegals from voting hurt the native Black population, or does he think his Black audience believes it? In either case, your vice president is a discouraging example of American political leadership.

    • bilderbuster

Biden’s stupidity is why Obama chose him as VP.
Sort of like a life insurance policy.

      • Geo1metric

By comparison, he looks/sounds brilliant…well, half smart anyway.

  • http://countenance.wordpress.com/ Question Diversity

To think, I was once scared of this goofball.

The substance of the arguments do not matter. The whole purpose of this political demagoguery on the part of Joe Biden and all the other Democrats of that ilk, considering their rhetoric about “civil rights movement” and “Selma,” is to goose turnout of elderly black women in November.

    • Max

There will be people a hundred years from now claiming that they “marched with King”.

There will be a hundred million people a hundred years from now claiming that they marched with King.

It’s just like a ball game where something special happens. 50,000 were actually there, but 30 years later, millions of people will say they were in attendance.

        • Geo1metric

Fully 75 % of my generation were at Woodstock. Not 500,000 people, but 35 million!

In a more perfect world the White people who really were there would be ashamed by now & wouldn’t fess up to it.

  • http://saboteur365.wordpress.com/ bigone4u

Biden must have suffered a serious head injury as a youth. If he weren’t so evil I’d feel sorry for him. As it is, I laugh at his stupidity, while hating his guts.

  • Truthseeker

You can’t make this stuff up anymore. If you asked any unbiased, rational person whether you should required to provide a valid ID to vote, almost any of them would think it was so obvious as to go without saying. Not these leftists. They’ve actually convinced people that taking common-sense measures to insure the integrity of the vote is a form of hatred and bigotry. This widespread idea, mainstream among liberals, may be the most absurd thing I’ve ever witnessed in politics.

When you condition your mind to ignore reality, you end up impervious to logic. When you presume that all races are the same (based on nothing but dogma, because of course, there’s no evidence of it), you can easily be led to believe that racial inequalities are the greatest evil in the world, and anything that produces the appearance of them must be destroyed. And of course, the left can portray themselves as having the moral upper hand, because they pander more to these “victim groups.” Ugh. Stupidity is killing our society, and we need to cut through it with the truth.

    • benvad

I feel like society is slowly turning into the omega man situation starring Charlton Heston.

      • Max

An apt comparison except I do not think the left have anyone as insightful as the chimpanzees. They are all gorillas or orang’s.

“Reason is man’s tool of knowledge, the faculty that enables him to perceive the
facts of reality. To act rationally means to act in accordance with the facts
of reality. Emotions are not tools of cognition. What you feel tells you
nothing about the facts; it merely tells you something about your estimate of
the facts. Emotions are the result of your value judgments; they are caused by
your basic premises, which you may hold consciously or subconsciously, which
      may be right or wrong.”
      -Ayn Rand

No wonder the left HATES Ayn Rand with a passion.

      • Max

She takes some abuse on this forum, as well.

      • Charles W.

“Ayn Rand” would classify just about every one on this forum as a collectivist fool who believes in a false institution (race).

        • AndrewInterrupted

She was a bit of an ideological idiot savant. Analysis paralysis.

    • Nancy Thomas

You can bet the blacks and browns find their ID cards when they apply for welfare and food stamps and section 8 housing and child tax credits and free medical care and free education and free school lunches!

      • Max

This to me, seems one of the great mysteries of our time: how it is that the “disenfranchised” can buy smokes, booze, collect handouts or even allegedly hold jobs but come voting time, they have no verifiable identification.

      • bilderbuster

The Mexicans usually have 5 or 6 ID cards all in different names for those goodies & voting too.

        • AndrewInterrupted

The Puerto Ricans and Dominicans in Massachusetts do the same thing. They are Raul in New Jork one day, then Pablo in Connecticut the next day, then Juan in Rhode island, then Enrique in Maine. They consider state hopping for welfare their profession. And they teach the family business to their children. And the politicians know it. Especially the welfare gangster from Chicago, Deval Patrick. He’s their enabler/pimp.

          • bilderbuster

Miami & S. Florida are like that what with the Cubans, Columbians, Central Americans & the riff-raff from the islands. It’s no.1 in the nation for medicaid scams taking White taxpayers for billions.

    • Charles W.

The Powers That Be are purposely trying to pull the voting bar down as low as possible. They want to make sure they scoop up all the worthless dregs who vote not even based on what information they get from a trash newspaper or TV show, but on what Jamal at the barbershop or Julio at the bodega tells them.

The stupider the bulk of voters, the easier for them to push through their strategy to destroy this country.

  • ncpride

This kind of rhetoric is lame and pathetic with absolutely no credibility. It’s so tired and embarrassingly old, I can hear people yawning (or laughing)……provided of course you are half way sane. He sounds like a broken record we’ve heard one million times before when it comes to blacks….hatred, bigotry, and racism they yell, without a shred of evidence to back it up, and no one to challenge them on their accusations.

  • JSS

Honestly if you aren’t required to have any identification what so ever to vote then what is so special about American citizenship? So you need ID technically to drive, drink, get most jobs, but voting in this country is that cheap and meaningless. How pathetic we have become.

“The zealotry of those who wish to limit the franchise cannot be smothered by reason,” he said.

“Hatred.” That’s funny. There is no force on this earth, past or present, that contains more hatred than marxism. • Greg Thomas

Sure, you and I know what you say is true but Biden and his cronies do not give a ^%&* about preserving “voter integrity.” They depend on the bogus votes to stay in power, which is all they care about. They hate this country and everything it was founded upon.

When we are told in the news constantly the same lie, the weakminded among us begin to accept that lie as truth, even those not weakminded sometimes. I blame the liars going to lengths to program these people more than I do those who succumb to such programming.

      • AndrewInterrupted

Yes, it is a standard advertising technique. Repetition.

      • Germanicus

Interesting. It is a complicated question who is to blame more. Each has his or her own place picked out in Dante-esque Inferno. A part of me says that if we the people either believe these liars or fail to e press our outrage in meaningful ways, then we are responsible. His did you and I come to recognize this junk from the Left? Were we not surrounded since birth with corrupting influences from many directions?

        • Geo1metric

“How did you and I come to recognize this junk from the Left? Were we not surrounded since birth with corrupting influences from many directions?”

I have pondered that for some time; everyone in my immediate family are very well educated and intelligent people, but I am the only one who “rages against the machine”. Compared to them I am the “rebellious” one, the non-conformist, the angry man.

I, on the other hand, see them as dupes regardless of their advanced degrees, etc. I think our ability to see the “junk” from the left, etc., has something to do with a willingness to explore, to go “where no man has gone before”, to be willing to stand outside the circle of conformity, a willingness to take a risk.

          • AndrewInterrupted

It reminds me of the Poseidon Adventure. When the smaller group realized the only way out was to move toward the stern where the hull plate was thinnest, to be cut out by rescuers. Then meeting the larger group trudging on toward the bow after having gotten bad leadership and advice. The smaller group, which turned out to be right, repeatedly appealing to the larger group: “…You’re going the wrong way. You’re going the wrong way…”

          • Geo1metric

Superior insight? Better information? Perhaps. But I also think one needs to be able to integrate that “better information” into a “world view”, your personal zeitgeist if you will. Someone may accept intellectually that certain minorities have an average intelligence below another group, but that information stops there; it is not integrated into the larger picture. Interesting questions.

          • Germanicus

            Prevail!

  • Nancy Thomas

Oh, this reminds me of a group called The Election Integrity Project (hope I got the name right) I’ve been giving to their cause, very smart people. They’ve uncovered some extremely disturbing irregularities (big surprise!)

    • Jesse James

One thing you can be sure of about leftist names for things, it always hides the biggest lie right out in the open. “Affordable Care Act”, “Election Integrity Project”, “American Civil Liberties Union”, “Department of Justice”, “Department of Education”, and so on and so on. George Orwell (Eric Arthur Blair) really had the totalitarian socialist figured out completely, everything they do is communicated in Newspeak.

      • Nancy Thomas

Generally you’re right, but not in this case. I heard the leader of the group speak. She makes no money at all, works as a volunteer, and is passionate about uncovering voter fraud. It’s not a leftist group. But I agree with you that the left does lie and lie and then lie some more, euphemisms and double speak and nonsense like Biden calling a law “hateful.” This is lunacy to be sure.

        • Jesse James

Thanks for the correction, I don’t know anything about that one group, just figured it was the usual Prog snow job.

I was at some economic conference here in Utah and Utah’s governor gave a speech. He said he went to the White House and Joe Biden came up to him and began heaping praise on the State of Utah. He said Utah’s economic success should be a model for the nation. How ironic it’s one of the whitest states in America with one of the lowest population densities and highest white birth-rate. But those factors couldn’t have anything to do with economic success. No, it’s always more immigrants, more population growth, more non-whites, more diversity….

    • Einsatzgrenadier

The government’s solution for everything is more 3rd world immigrants. If there’s a recession, they send in more 3rd world immigrants to prepare for the recovery; if the economy is booming, they send in more 3rd world immigrants to fill supposed labor shortages. Even if they can’t come up with an excuse as to why we need more 3rd world immigrants, they still send us more 3rd world immigrants anyway.

      • Max

They can probably justify to themselves the importation of more 3rd-worlders to America as “mentors” to help with the assimilation of yet other 3rd-worlders. Insanity has no endpoint.

But of course they have no shame. Just to have the same laws as Mexico on the subject would go some distance toward tamping down voter fraud. Unfortunately, the Mexican laws don’t address the politician in the Democrat ward who late in the night marks off a number of voters having voted when they did not, and stuffs the ballot box full of fake votes for leftists.

  • AndrewInterrupted

That is something that we should be cognizant of in November and 2016, no doubt.
The missing Romney votes was very fishy in 2012.

    • http://countenance.wordpress.com/ Question Diversity

It’s impossible to engage in voter fraud to reduce the number of votes cast for a given candidate. It is very possible and fairly easy to stuff the boxes for extra votes for someone.

By itself, there is nothing suspicious or indicative of fraud relating to fewer votes for Romney in 2012 than for McCain in 2008.

This is like the news that there were some precincts in big cities where Romney got zero voters. That by itself isn’t proof any kind of fraud, because it’s impossible to break into the ballot boxes or hack/crack the EVMs to reduce what would be a scant few votes for Romney in that area down to zero. When it is a much better use of limited fraudster time to stuff the boxes with more Obama votes.

That Romney got zero votes in some urban precincts is not evidence of fraud, it’s evidence of ghetto.

That Romney got a few million fewer votes than McCain is not evidence of fraud, it’s evidence of Republican voters having enough of RINOs and less than stellar candidates.

      • AndrewInterrupted

There was a story on Electro-mechanical based voter fraud that erupted years ago, and disappeared just as quickly. The story originated in rigged elections in Venezuela. They used electronic machines that could be easily hacked–and were hacked. Chavez is believed to have “won” because of these rigged voting machines.

The reason why it also made news in the U.S. was because the machines were manufactured by a Venezuelan company–and many of the machines were sold to the U.S.

The voting system in the U.S. is a complete hodgepodge. I have less faith in the physical side of voting–now more than ever.
