The Al Qaeda Fanatic from Britain Who Funded Jihad Trip to Syria by Mugging Londoners with a Taser

Duncan Gardham, Daily Mail (London), November 30, 2013

A British man who was killed fighting alongside Al Qaeda-linked extremists in Syria funded his trip by mugging people in an affluent area of London, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

Choukri Ellekhlifi, 22, threatened victims with a Taser-style high-voltage stun gun and forced them to hand over valuables including designer watches and mobile phones.

He lived in London until a year ago when he skipped bail and travelled to Syria to join a group of Islamic extremists waging war on President Assad’s regime.

Now it has been revealed that he was one of three British men killed as their group attacked pro-government forces near the city of Aleppo on August 11.

The trio were part of a group of ten British jihadists who joined up with 20 other Britons to fight with the Al-Nusra Front, which is allied to Al Qaeda.

Ellekhlifi had joined the rebels under a pseudonym but his true identity became clear after police compared mugshots taken after his arrest for the street robberies with a photo of British fighters in Syria that emerged last week.

Another man pictured with him, Mohammed el-Araj, 23, from Ladbroke Grove, West London, was killed two weeks later during a firefight.

Months before his death, Ellekhlifi targeted wealthy individuals in Belgravia, Central London to raise funds for his journey to the Middle East, according to security sources.

Alongside two accomplices–Mohamed Elyasse Taleouine, 21, and Mohammed Ibrahim, 23, both from West London–Ellekhlifi committed eight robberies during a four-day crime spree last year.

‘Wearing masks, they would approach their victims on bicycles, threaten them with a stun gun and demand they hand over their possessions,’ a security source said.

The robberies were committed between 11.15pm and 12.30am.

Two of the gang’s victims needed hospital treatment after the gun was fired at them.

Scotland Yard launched an investigation into the robberies and in August this year officers executed search warrants at the homes of Ellekhlifi, Taleouine and Ibrahim, where they found much of the stolen property.

They failed to recover the stun gun but a photo labelled ‘Taser’ was found at Taleouine’s flat. The picture was of a powerful stun gun that can be bought on the internet from Malaysia for less than £40.

The three men were arrested and released on bail and it is thought that Ellekhlifi then fled Britain to join the Syrian rebels.

A fighter using the name ‘Abu Hujama al-Britani’ was recently pictured in Syria, clutching an AK-47 rifle. Now ‘Hujama’ has been identified as Ellekhlifi, who was of Moroccan origin and lived in Paddington.

MI5 estimates that up to 300 young Britons have travelled to fight in Syria. Fears are growing that they could pose a terrorist threat when they return home.

Ellekhlifi, though absent, was jailed for six years for conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to possess an offensive weapon at Woolwich Crown Court.

Taleouine was jailed for five years and Ibrahim was jailed for four years six months.

Elsewhere up to six people from Portsmouth have gone to Syria and are fighting along side al-Qaeda fighters.

One of them is thought to be just 19 and another, named by the Sunday Times as Muhammad Hamidur Rahman, 25, used to be a supervisor at Primark.

  • “British man”

Let’s say that a drone strike would have killed him.

Who’s the British version of idiot Rand Paul who would have gotten up in Parliament and moaned and whined about drone strikes killing British subjects?

  • [Guest]

If only there were a way for these vibrant “British” jihadists such as Choukri, Mohamed, and Mohammed to target ONLY multiculturalists.

  • MekongDelta69

He was simply an ‘aspiring’ terrorist.

    Oh wait…

After living in such a sissified and pansy country like England he fancied himself a true bad boy soldier. Fortunately for us he met a TRUE WARRIOR on the field of battle in Syria. Unlike the West the Syrian National Army has no qualms about defending their homeland from foreign invaders.

I’m sure he got the shock of his life that ended his life when Syrian bullets blasted through his head or chest. I hope they shot him through the heart or lungs so he could die slowly enough to see the Syrians move in for the coup de grace. Syria has well trained, well armed, well led, and well motivated soldiers who are supported by the people. Damn right they have no qualms about shooting enemy invaders to death, they should whether or not they are Muslim.

An otherwise “good boy” who just “fell in with the wrong crowd”…

Let’s hope Assad holds out against these sort of al-Qaeda Islamist thugs, because God knows our own governments seem to prefer supporting them rather than rooting them out.

Choukri Ellekhlifi, typical arabized Negro from southern Morocco.

      But he’s a “British” man…..

Just raising money for a worthy cause!

    • seapeaMP

I think “crowdsourcing” just earned another definition.

If diversity is so wonderful, why does ONLY one race have to practice it?

  • Spartacus

It seems “British” doesn’t mean what it used to either…

  • Mahound

God bless al-Assad for doing the job western security services won’t do.

  • bigone4u

He lived by the sword, he died by the sword. Karma. Well deserved karma.

  • WR_the_realist

Ah yes, a “British” citizen named Choukri Ellekhlifi. Winston Churchill would weep if he saw what has become of his country. Of course “American” has long since ceased to be a meaningful term as well.

    • So CAL Snowman

Churchill would be proud. After all he helped shape the destiny of the West.

      • WR_the_realist

No, Churchill wanted to keep Great Britain white. Those who claim that WW II was about enforcing political correctness have greatly distorted what that war was about.

    Okay, slappy. There’s the trick:

    Don’t let them back in!

And don’t any more of their ilk into England to begin with, and deport the ones already there.

So easy, a lobbyist slash PR hack can figure it out.

Spain next door spent years driving the Moors out. India has been grappling with the Muslim problem for centuries now (both countries were ruled by Muslim invaders for a few centuries) and Indian nationalists take Spain as their inspiration. And Queen’s Britain imports Muslims, not even the more cultured Turkish/Persian types but our stone age Pakistani friends and Africans with their Wahhabi cult. What’s there to say!

  • scutum

“British Man”? I don’t think so. From his picture I would say this individual is of African or North African descent. Either way he is not Anglo-Saxon, but he has definitely contributed to Britains diversity and that has to be a good thing. If you need confirmation of the positive contribution this fellow has made to British culture and society, just ask Tony Brown or his daughter.

I really don’t understand the definition of a “refugee” when it comes to EU immigration policy. Do these “refugees” claim they are being persecuted by their government because of their believe in Sharia law and therefore need to be protected by the EU? Sweden has more Africans and Middle Eastern men in jail than the Swedish white males and yet it would be politically incorrect to talk about race and crime.

  • Oh gawd, not again.

I went 15 rounds with Hunter Wallace on OD over this thing yesterday and the day before, admittedly it was friendly sparring. But I’m not in the mood to do it again.

Here’s a pic of one of the few “American citizens” that our drone strikes (in Whackistan, not here) have killed. If there have been any others, they look a lot like him and nothing like me.

There is no slippery slope or no continuum between using armed drones to kill Muslim terrorists on the other side of the world and this silly paranoid notion that someone will order a drone strike to kill a white person in America.

I think we can lay off the crackpottery now.

    “American citizen.”

  • NeanderthalDNA

    Nice handle. Shoots true.

Islam is a religion basically founded by pirates. If you read about the life of Muhammed you will find out there are myriad rules in Islam about how to divide up the spoils of a caravan raid, so much was to go to Muhammed and so much was to further the cause of Islam and the remaining portion was divided up among the participants. Robbing or stealing from Muslims is another story.

  • Zaporizhian Sich

Killing, robbing and raping non Muslims is not only condoned, it is encouraged in the Koran. That is why Muslims must be expelled from our lands, or at the very least put on notice they have a stark choice. They can comply with our laws, or comply with their religion and be expelled or killed accordingly. TASERING people constitutes aggravated assault, it can kill someone who has heart problems for one. I would in those people’s places attack the moment the current shut off and make them wish they were being merely TASERed themselves.
