Arpaio: ICE Made Deputies Release 3 Illegals

More news stories on Immigration Law Enforcement

Gary Grado, East Valley Tribune (Phoenix, Arizona), July 24, 2009

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Friday the federal government refused to take three illegal immigrants arrested in a crime sweep Thursday because their arrests didn’t fit new Department of Homeland Security policies.

Arpaio said the department breached a promise that he could operate under an existing agreement that allows him to enforce immigration law.

Homeland Security is requiring all local police agencies with existing 287(g) agreements to sign new ones within the next three months that are in accordance with new policies and department objectives or else lose their authority.

Arpaio said he has to decide whether he wants to maintain the 287(g) authority if the rules become too restrictive.

Local agents with the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement told deputies who made the arrests to let them go, said Sgt. Brett Palmer.

“I was told ‘no,’ I was not authorized to arrest,” Palmer said.

A Homeland Security spokesman in Washington, D.C., said the opposite.

“The determination to release these individuals lies solely within the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office,” said Homeland Security spokesman Matthew Chandler. “ICE officials gave permission to the MCSO 287(g) officer to question the individuals and had no other engagement.”

Arpaio said if that is the case, then he will start arresting illegal immigrants who have no other criminal charges again.

Over the past few years, ICE would have deported them, Arpaio said.

In issuing the new 287(g) policies July 10, Homeland Security said it was concerned that local police were using minor infractions to get illegal immigrants deported.

To combat that, Homeland Security will require agencies to “pursue all criminal charges that originally caused the offender to be taken into custody.”

Here’s an answer to the Federal back stabbers when it come to something as important as Illegal Aliens.

In recent months, as many as 30 States have reaffirmed their own Sovereignty under the 10th Amendment. That is something that is long overdue.

Now, the next step for these States is to form their own State Departments of Immigration, where any person, not a legal Citizen of the State, or of one of the United States of America, shall be Deported from that State, to the Illegal Alien’s Country of origin.

I guarantee a quick response, and relief, from the burdens and National Security concerns, that these Illegal Aliens pose.

This is the answer. Let’s do it.

Here it is, over and over, the administration shows its hand. Some people are always talking about illegal immigration and conspiracy. Not at all. Evey single day, the democratic and republican parties throw down the gauntlet at the feet of the American citizenry and say, “what are you going to do about it?” So far, all they have heard is silence. Why then, would any American citizen against illegal immigration believe that it will ever stop?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t being here illegally a crime to begin with…?

It’s trespassing, in a nutshell.

It should be obvious that our own government has been making war against white people for a number of years. Just before the last election the approval rating for Congress was at an all-time low, yet over ninety- four percent of its members won reelection. How ? Go ask the media.

Just more evidence that the Republicrat/Demoncan leadership is corrupt and has disavowed their oath-of-office to support the US Constitution and provide for a common defense against the Mexican invasion.

By disavowing their oaths, they are no longer representatives of the people who elected them….regardless of WHO those people actually are.

Also, by disavowing their oaths, these corrupt traitors are not my representatives either.

Our Founding Fathers knew exactly what this is about and they took action.

I know some corrections officers in Texas. They tell me the only reason why Homeland will deport illegal aliens convicted of serious felonies is because it enables them to escape the death penalty or long-term incarceration. One was recently remanded to the custody of ICE and he laughed all the way to the gate, even admitting he would be back across the border next week….free as a bird.

Deportation of serious criminal aliens has become a “get out of jail free” card. Many of them slip back across the border after a short visit with friends and family. They can easily assume yet another fake identity and their slate is squeaky clean.

We need to deport criminal aliens….at the end of their sentence for crimes against American citizens….not as soon as they land in prison. Deportation makes a mockery of American justice, so much so that even the deportee leaves laughing himself silly. We are nothing more than a bunch of chumps.

Don’t wait until they victimize more Americans. Deport them all.

Memphomaniac @ #6,

Illegal Aliens that commit murder shall not be Derported until they sit in the Electric Chair, or Gas Chamber. After they pay the ultimate price for their murderous crims, will we Deport the body to its home country.

Perhaps the illegals that are arrested could be taken by bus to D.C. and DROPPED OFF! how would they like that? Or wherever ICE HQ is.

I saw a news report once that showed Sheriff Arpaio’s jail feeding its residents out of a common vat of stew.

Shame on him! Since when do prisoners deserve to eat meat?

Clan Chieftan is right, the only way we are going to save ourselves and our states, will be to reclaim our soverneighty and reaffirm our 10th amendment rights.

Maybe we could have the immigrants goto the White House for a beer with the prez and Sheriff Joe…that appears to be B. Hussein’s method of taking care of personal problems

Don’t deport for minor crimes? When are these people in Washington going to learn that illegals got that way when they crossed the border. Why are we not deporting all Illegals, whether they commit other crimes or not?
