Economic Downturn Could Bolster US Immigration Overhaul

In Oakland, Ca, the city council, in response to the high unemployment rate and lack of affordable housing, decided to issue identification cards to illegal aliens.Only one did not vote for it, but he didnt vote against it either, he was the only black.

Okay, so we’re talking about polls by open borders cheap labor shills, in an open borders cheap labor newspaper. And I’m supposed to believe it?

Where did they conduct this polling, at the headquarters of NCLR?

Wrong. Most of them won’t have jobs and will be on the public dole. Those that are working are in a wage bracket that will not be taxable. The only thing they’ll be paying in the way of taxes is sales tax, and they’re paying that right now, legal or illegal.

Another thing is that those working under the table will continue to do that. Not having a paper trail that can verify income will mean they’ll qualify for more social benefits.

Is there a radical liberal in the world with even half a brain?

As far as I’m concerned I hope they do get amnesty so they can put the finishing touches on this economic collapse with the huge monetary expenses they will incur, and that will mean this dysfunctional country will be insolvent and we can get busy dividing it up, peaceful or otherwise.

What lies! Didn’t we all know this is how they would spin it? Turn them into taxpayers? They TAKE more than they will ever pay and we all know it. This just insures they will continue to take by making them eligible for SSI/SSA and all the other freebies that the REAL taxpayers pay for.

BTW, show me an illegal who even makes enough to pay any taxes to begin with. What with all their kids as dependents and all the breaks they will get for having all those kids. They will just drain us even more than they do by being illegal. Not to mention them bringing in all their extended family members to burden us even more.

So you’re telling me that the Oakland City Council voted to make in essence the city’s illegal aliens as citizens? I fail to see how it will help the economy or make housing more affordable. It’ll really make unemployment worse, more people competing for fewer jobs, especially fewer in Oakland for its crime. As far as affordable housing, Hispanics are notorious for cramming a lot of people into a house, and this has the effect of driving rents sky-high, because each person in the house working or collecting welfare can contribute to the rent.

As a stop gap measure before deportation, I would pass a city ordinance or state law that states while that more than one working or welfare collecting person can live in a house, only one person’s income can be taken in consideration for leases and mortgages.

Nonsense. About 2 years ago, when congress proposed amnesty, their was a huge outcry across the country and polls show people are overwhelmingly against it. Of course, one can skew any poll in ones favor with the right wording.

Of course, they want access to cheap labor. What they don’t seem to get is that if amnesty is given, the first thing illegals will do is start demanding higher wages, better working conditions etc.. We’ll have a huge, angry costly underclass. Also, because of their lack of skills and high birthrates and low wages, even legal immigrants take 3 dollars for every one they put into the economy.

Make them legal and they become taxpayers?? How about make them legal and thus make more of them earned income tax credit beneficiaries and further legalize the longstanding illegal claimants of earned income tax credits that we already have?

Beware of any Wall Street Journal article about immigration as in my opinion they are just shills for globalism, and push for open borders for the United States. Oh yes, the WSJ sometimes feins patriotism when they are pushing for the United States to be the world’s (corporation’s???) police force but God forbid we stop the invasion at our own border.

Illegals become citizens - they demand equal pay - government taxes them to the point of their being unable to send remittances home.

i used to be a liberal of sorts and i loved california. as recently as the early ‘90’s a friend of mine and i went to l.a. to get certified in medical technology. first, we took the test in a big testing center with about 95 percent filipinos who were rumored to have the answers to the tests. this was the first sign calif. was on the skids.
after seeing many more signs calif. was on its way down, we used to talk to people in prospective places we’d like to live. one such place was thousand oaks. one could look around and see the place was around 90 percent white. we passed the high school to see proudly displayed on their marquee..highest test scors in the state. little wonder.
we would sit in mcdonald’s eating breakfast and talking to the patrons. they related similar tales i’ve read in the posts about mexicans moving into all-white neighborhoods and staying 30-40 to a house. sleeping in sleeping bags all over the floor and so forth. this was in ‘92-‘93.
i hear now that thousand oaks, ca. has since been inundated with mexicans and property values have plummetted. this demographic change could have been predicted by what we heard. needless to say, their school test scores weren’t still no. 1 in the state.

June makes the excellent point that amnesty just leads to more illegals. Amnesty for illegals is just as much amnesty for those who hire them. Rewarding breaking and entering leads to general contempt. When legalization makes labor more expensive, employers just hire new illegals … and on and on.

Re: “polls”: while I’ve never heard of any that supported amnesty before, it’s true that the share of “likely voters” who are non-whites is greater than ever. Most non-whites are reliable Democrats, who want amnesty to create even more Democrats. Many have blood ties to illegals. Whites, too, are propagandized from all sides that any opposition to the invasion means they’re the dreaded “R”-word. The cowed and brainwashed probably do utter to leftist pollsters words construed to fit the anti-white agenda.

We must protest to Congress that the immigration “reform” means more unemployment for Americans, a higher deficit to pay for more welfare and education costs for illegals, and thus more inflation since federal spending is less and less based on taxes and more and more on funny money printed by the diabolical and communistic Bernanke at the Federal Reserve.

If they made illegals legal the cheap labor people would have to get another batch of illegals. The cycle never ends.

The first thing I heard on the radio when I got in my car this morning was that California’s unemployment rate had reached 11% and is still climbing. Of course, Governor S. had to pipe up that the high unemployment rate and massive budget deficit was ‘absolutely’ not caused by massive illegal immigration.

As I’m writing this, the Marxists in the statehouse are busy plotting as to how to raise massive new taxes on the battered taxpayers and businesses of California. The Republicans are barely hanging on and I believe the next attack will be to eliminate the two-thirds majority vote needed for tax increases and mandate a simple majority instead. This is a state that is dependent on ‘the rich.’ According to City Journal:

I’ve learned that the government rarely reports anything that is true so I suspect the unemployment rate and budget deficit are much higher.

So the government’s solution? Open up the floodgates to more uneducated, unskilled, impoverished Third World dregs who will require entitlement services generation after generation—and become a voting bloc that will vote themselves more government services.

Some of you here have suggested that I leave California like a rat leaving a sinking ship. But as California goes, so goes the nation—it’s everywhere.

So here’s the choice the Cal. government is faced with: Larger, more vicious deadly wildfires because of a lack of firemen or larger, more vicious deadly riots because the welfare spigot is shut off (and there are fewer policemen).

I don’t wonder why people in my neighborhood are surrounding their property with 9-foot high re-enforced concrete walls—some topped off with metal spikes or barbed wire and buying large police-type dogs.
