THE Nigerian-born winner of Miss York 2009 said she will not be deterred by comments from a self-confessed racist who said she should not be representing the city in the national finals.
In a phone call to event organiser, Vivienne Lee, a man said 23-year-old medical student Helen Lawal should not have won the competition.
Miss Lee said: “I took a phone call about 10am on Friday. They said: “How can someone black be Miss York”?
“I pointed out that she was British, but he said she was born in Nigeria. He also mentioned that she was studying in Pickering.
“He said: ‘I am a racist and we are fed up with these people coming and taking our jobs’—the usual stuff.”
Mrs Lee said the caller had accused the judges of pandering to political correctness by choosing a winner and runner-up who were not white, and threatened to write to his MP about the situation.
“I don’t think he has a point because two years ago we had two sisters of Afro-Caribbean origin who didn’t win,” she said.
Yesterday Helen Lawal, who is of mixed race, defended her right to be crowned Miss York, describing the man’s comments as “disappointing,” but saying they would not stop her.
“I’m as much black as I am white,” she said.
“I grew up in Yorkshire and consider myself to be a Yorkshire person,” she said.
“I have got as much right to represent York as anyone else.
“Me and my brother were the only mixed-race pupils at our school in Pickering and there was lot of positivity surrounding us because we were good at sport.
“This is the first time I have encountered any comments like this. It’s disappointing, but it’s not going to stop me.”
She added: “When I think of me I don’t think of my colour and I don’t think my friends do either.
“It’s made me a little bit more determined to be the first mixed-race Miss England.”
Miss Lawal, who is also the reigning Miss Black Britain, qualified for Miss York because she lives in Pickering, which falls within the city’s postcode area.
She will now go on to represent the city at the Miss England final in London this summer.
The phone call has been reported to North Yorkshire police who said: “We can confirm that a malicious call involving racist statements was reported to us on Friday, April 17. “We take the issue of hate crimes very seriously and will investigate.”

Just who are these judges?
Yorkshire has traditionally defended its distinct culture. Only men born in Yorkshire could play cricket for Yorkshire. They are preserving the diversity of Britain but that has a quite different meaning for Multicultist nation wreckers.
The only way these Black girls could win is by having a good deal of White in them to begin with. There’s no other way. What I’m saying is that without the White part beauty and intelligence would be severely lacking. And of course these pretties identify with being Black - not White.
If you want to weep for Britian and get a full portion of Carnaby Street eye candy to boot, then go rent “Mrs. Brown You`ve Got A Lovely Daughter”. It`s the Herman`s Hermits feature length movie circa 1966.

I agree it is also inconceivable to me that this is the best the city has to offer plus I don’t think she is particularly pretty.
I always thought that the City of York was known primarily for performing Shakespeare’s thirty seven some odd plays. Remember that famous line about posting the head of York on his castle’s gate so that “York could overlook the City of York”. This is a famous joint!
Consequently, it seems somewhat incongruous to me that one of the bastions of British history and literature now must have a [semi] black as one of its most visible representatives. How strange! Kind of like having a beautiful, white, blue eyed natural blond, representing Nigeria in the Ms. Universe Competition.

then who entered you in the Miss Black Britain competition? im quite fed up with hypocrisy. as the latest nonsense envolving perez hilton shows, these pageants have long since been taken over by politics. they’ve always been a sham. but now its just plain laughable. if they were determined to name a black they could have done better than that. but i suspect they were actually aiming for mulattoes instead.

Okay this is wonderful. Someone makes a phone call and makes some unkind remarks that a mullato finds offensive. A crime has been committed and the Yorkshire police will investigate? How long has the North Yorkshire police force been investigating thought crimes?
What kind of place is this anyway where the top two beauty pagent winners are mullatos? Were all the contestants mullatos? Do the judges feel that of all the people in the contest, two mullatos were the clear front runners? Are the judges mullatos? Was there not one cute blond girl in the group? Do they kowtow more to minorities in England than they do in the United States? Am I losing my mind?

The man makes a call and says he don’t like it and might write his MP about it and now there’s a hate crime investigation? They have truly gone insane in old England. But don’t be surprised if this starts showing up here. The seeds are already here, and sprouting.
As a white person I could live in the country of Nigeria for fifty years and never be considered “Nigerian” by black Africans. But, these people can live in places like Britain and be considered “British”. Funny how that works.
I’m from West Yorkshire. York itself is in North Yorkshire. This item however is important to me as a representation of suppression of free speech in the UK.

Tell me about it. In the U.K. ANY dissent from the ‘Party line’ is greeted with threats from unelected tyrants, re ‘hate’ crimes. Everybody is sick of it to the back teeth, and obviously it only exists because ‘The Party’ doesn’t have a good argument to back up its position. (Well, other than “We are trying to flood all white countries with non-whites so that we can more easily rule over a population of disparate races who are all fighting each other, rather than us, their leaders.”)
The more people they threaten and imprison with these laughable ‘hate’ crime laws, the more people join the BNP. That’s why the BNP has by far the most popular website of ALL the political parties in the U.K., and this year we are going to see a breakthrough in the elections.
The next time some liberal fool tells you that ‘most’ white people ‘love diversity’ or ‘love multiculturalism’, ask them to explain how concentrations of non-whites form in certain areas of the U.K.. If MOST white people just ‘love’ living around non-whites, why aren’t they moving into areas where non-whites live?
Obviously MOST white people avoid buying houses in ‘diverse’ (or we would call them ‘enriched’ areas (sarcastically)) - because they enjoy living among people like themselves - and why shouldn’t they?
This fact of ‘Revealed Preference’ is extremely important in our fight against the wholesale invasion of our countries. You can bring it up just as a fact, without showing that you are on one side or the other, and watch what people say about it.

I believe, unquestionably, there should be a “mixed” race category, because none of these people that make the national limelight are really black with black features, nor do most of them have black skin.
I think people like these women and even Obama should be described as “mulatto,” and acceptable terms should be invented for those who are black and another ethnicity, like Indian or mestizo.
Also, so far as nationalities are concerned, anyone other than whites in traditional white countries should be identified, for example, as: Afro-English, Afro-American, Afro-Canadian, Afro-Carribbean, German-Turk; French-Arab, etc.
The double indentification is necessary so that the readers of any reports know exactly who the writer is writing about.
Why would the police investigate? What’s the crime? That he don’t like blacks? So what! I would be more worried about the police attitude than I would be about a racist any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
If this woman is of mixed race and has one British parent and was raised in Yorkshire, then she would have citizenship and be eligble. I do agree that this was likely a political move and most of the pagents and such have become very politicized. While rude, its’ ridiculous that a man calling with his disapproval and opinion only could be categorized as a crime unless he threatened her with violence or something.
I noticed that the comments section attached to that story on the their website that was there yesterday has vanished. Perhaps too many people were expressing their distaste in having that woman be Miss York.
I seem to be the only one commenting on the fact BOTH the winner and 1st runner up of the Miss York pageant are colored. I wonder how many Whites were in that pageant.
In 1984 Vanessa “the Undresser” Williams, a colored porn model, “won” the Miss America pageant with Suzette Charles, another colored woman, coming in 1st runner up. These two were part of just a small subset of colored girls in a sea of White faces, yet they conveniently beat them all. Anyone who believes there’s any objectivity in these pageants is pretty narrow between the ears.
I’m sure people like Helen Lawal and her “supporters” also see nothing wrong in ridiculous stunts like this.

I’ll accept a colored Miss York (or Miss America, Miss Norway, Miss France, Miss Italy, etc) when I see a White woman elected Miss Black America, which we all know will NEVER happen.
I’ve got it! Everyone call from outside the UK and let the police make this an international incident with multiple requests for extradition. This is the best way to expose the silliness of prosecuting free speech as a crime - let it become an international crime. At least then we can come to grips with the world we live in?

I am a Yorkshireman. I live about 1/2hour away from York by car.
I happened to be working there today but I also vist York regulary.
I don’t recal seeing a black face. There are some Muslims but they stick to their own area.
York has a very different make up to other large towns in Yorkshire. Cities like Leeds are starting to look like Africa/Pakistain.
This started happening here in the United States in the 1960’s. No Whites wanted to make a fuss, turned the other cheek, thought it would all go away and people would come to their senses. Nope, it only got worse and worse and now Whites in America will be aminority in less than 20 years, and all the racial laws are stacked against us.

The allied forces in WWII didn’t invade the continent until we had enough men and supplies either, as soon as the muslims you mentioned have those numbers, they will become a force to be reckoned with and they WILL invade.

This sounds like the standard fake racist scam. In America, the ADL and SPLC are famous for faking evil white racism to extort millions from their brain dead crooked stock market manipulator donors like Bernie Madoff.
Speaking of Bernie Madoff, I understand that donations to ADL and SPLC have fallen off quite a bit this year because so many of their donors invested in Bernie Madoff’s pyramid scheme. This is one time that solidarity didn’t help ADL SPLC.
I doubt this happened. She has no proof of any call. She just said it was a “caller.” She made it up. His first words were “I’m a racist?” Yeah right.
The real tragedy in this is that she is an affirmative action medical student. She took the place of a white male Englishman who had better and more A levels and was better qualified in every way.
And her patients and the NHS will suffer because of yet another marginally qualified incompetent affirmative action Doctor.
In America some states have penalties for making fake hate crime reports. There have been so many of these fake hate crimes that police investigation manuals now emphasize the likelyhood of fraud more than the likelyhood of a real hate crime.
In murder investigations the first thing is to eliminate the spouse, lover, relatives, roommates as so many murders are commited by friends, neighbors and family members.
So many hate crimes are faked that the standard procedure is to first suspect a fraud and investigate for fraud. 90 percent of the hate crimes are proven to be frauds.
The insurance companies are on our side in this. So many of the hate crime fakers were filing false insurance claims that the insurance companies are fighting fake hate crimes the same way they fight those arson fires for insurance.

I’m sorry, but I don’t find Ms. Campbell “articulate” nor a proper representative of Viking culture and beauty. Why not just call the contest the Global Anywhere Fest if it is not to celebrate Viking ancestry?
Secondly, what white women should do is enter all the black beauty contests across America. When they receive hate mail for entering, if they are allowed to even do that, then they should respond like Ms. Campbell. “It made me feel really mad because you want to find out who they are, and then after that kind of the hurt, hurtfulness about it.” I’m sure the white contestants will then receive all kinds of kind regards and encouragement from the 99% of blacks who will be appalled that any black would be so rude as to resent a white person in a contest by and for blacks!
