Letter from a UK Union to Its Branches

Excerpt from the CWU’s latest “Urgent Information for Members”:

The Race Advisory Committee has recently been discussing the issue of the BNP and their likely efforts to increase their votes before the European elections. As a consequence of these discussions the issue of the ‘conscience clause’ was raised and the need to make all postal workers, particularly those who work on delivery, aware of the ‘conscience clause’ which allows a delivery person the right to refuse to deliver election material, if the material they are delivering is considered offensive due to personal circumstances or beliefs that delivery of a particular item may incur personal risk.
