Marlon Jackson Angers Nigeria With a ‘Jackson 5 Museum’

More news stories on Africa

Kevin L. Clark, Urban Daily, February 17, 2009

Michael Jackson’s brother Marlon is caught up in a controversial plan that will transform the site of an historic slave port in Nigeria into a $3.4 billion slavery memorial that will double as a luxury resort and museum honoring the Jackson 5.

The idea is that the Jackson name will help attract African-American tourists looking to trace their roots back to Nigeria. Organizers believe the plan will honor the history of the transatlantic slave trade and provide employment opportunities for Nigerians.

The developers say the Badagry Historical Resort will be marketed to African-Americans as a mixture of luxury tourist attractions and historical education. Visitors will be able to see the route their ancestors walked before boarding slave ships. They can then retire to their five-star hotel to drink cocktails by the pool.

“This will be an adventurous ride giving you an historical overview of African music. From hologram images, concert footage, a state of the art recording facility, to robotic figures displaying the rhythmic beats from 300 years ago where music began leading up to the biggest African group in the world, The Jackson Five,” says literature from the investment group behind the plan, called The Motherland Group (TMG).

Visitors will also be able to pay their respects at the site of a mass grave for those who died before boarding ships across the Atlantic Ocean—then travel a few yards in a buggy to play a round of golf. They can visit a replica slave ship to see the conditions Africans suffered, before visiting the world’s only museum dedicated to the career of the Jackson 5.

So, American blacks are supposed to travel to Nigeria, in order to “honor” the Jackson 5 (when most of them think that Michael has become white and Janet is an oreo), then have cocktails by the pool, in order to study slavery? When did golf become part of the slavery experience?

You can’t make this stuff up. It sounds like a plot of a parody movie.

Blacks have been pushing ‘slavery tourism’ in Africa and the US. Here in Buffalo, they have Underground Railroad tours, Black Grave Sight tours, slavery re-enactments and no one comes and no one cares.

The newest one is for some black preacher by the name of Nash. They renovated “The Nash House” expecting people to rush to experience black history. The Buffalo News did an article about how the place is sitting there idle and without visitors.

A historic slave port? Tracing their roots? A a replica slave ship? Once again, blacks are showing their obsession with race, race, and once again race. Do they ever think or care about anything else?

Not to worry, though. Like most grandiose black schemes, this exercise in silliness will never get off the ground.

I want to open up a “Nigerian scam” museum in New York. Visitors will be treated to posters detailing the millions of dollars promised in billions of emails and actual photos of the suckers who fell for it. Actual Nigerian scammers will be invited to speak to visitors and then join them for drinks and billiards.

But the black scammers are still raking in the subsidy/bribery money from the various governments.

3.4 Billion dollars?!? im sure that can be better spent in Nigeria, perhaps on birth control or infrastructure.

It’s their ‘history’. If they want to get into it more power to them. It’s not as if Western History, the politically correct version we have, is any more accurate than these agenda pushers.

Well, how about an Obama museum, instead? Oh, sorry. He’s a Luo whose ancestors sold slaves.

Blacks ‘history of slavery’ is, as always, extremely selective. Instead of these greedy Jacksons being exploitative in seeking to make more millions from demonising whites, the very race that abolished slavery, they would be better to put their efforts into getting rid of slavery in African countries like Benin, Mauritania, Sudan and other African states who AT THIS PRESENT TIME continue to practise black-on-black slavery which has gone on since time-immemorial. What’s that I hear you Jivin’ Jokers say ‘there’s no money in that?’ Mmm, I thought so. Blacks don’t really like the truth, do they.

I note that this article only concentrates on the transatlantic slave trade? Why not build a museum that focuses on the Eastern slave routes to the Middle East? There, they can focus on all them black “Nubian goddesses” who were sent to Arabia to become part of rich Arab emirs’ harems. They can explain why Arab involvement in the black slave trade continues to this day.

I know that some posters here have provided a link to a you-tube site, where an African historian points out that the Arab slave trade has continued for 14 centuries and how most blacks worldwide are ignorant of that fact. It’s about 9 minutes long. Can someone provide that link again? Thanks.

How about a museum “honoring” all those black chiefs and tribes who participated in the slave trade?

12 — Anonymous wrote at 3:21 PM on February 21:

Could it be this video, Soprano Fan. Don’t forget that Black African Muslims played their part in the Islamic slave trade. But this video does not touch on the black-on-black slavery that has gone on in Africa since time immemorial but is never talked about due to extremely sketchy historical sources (lack of written languages etc). Blacks have heard about black-on-black slavery okay but their silence is deafening as they don’t wish to derail the AA/reparations gravy train which is funded by the demonising of whites.

I think it’s a fantastic idea for black Americans who wish to leave the country for Africa to have ample opportunities to do so. I encourage them to relocate.

This much money should be able to BUY Nigeria.
