Bid to Stop the Killing of Albinos

More news stories on Africa

Donald G. McNeil, Jr., New York Times, Feb. 16, 2009

Last spring, he said, Peter Ash began to hear about albinos in Tanzania being murdered for their body parts. More than 40 have been killed since 2007, sometimes right in front of their families, by gangs of men who hack off legs, heads or genitals and run away with them.

In the last two years, rumors have spread in East Africa that potions made with albino blood, shoes made of albino skin, tendrils of albino hair woven into fishing nets and amulets with albino body parts will make people rich.

Traditional healers have told an undercover BBC reporter posing as a businesswoman that they could get her an albino corpse for $2,000.

I’d call this story to ridiculous to be true… but for the fact we’re talking about BLACK Africans, as well as Albino Africans. But I’ve seen articles about this problem previously on other sites. Wondering what WONDERBAMA is going to do to solve the problem? Bring 30 million Africans here in addition to the 30 to 35 million illegal Mexicans and other Latinos?

This is certainly persecution by skin color. What if whites made shoes from very black skinned people? Where is the moral outrage from our leaders?

They omitted to mention the albino wasn’t yet a corpse I’m sure.
