A nonprofit coalition called Georgia Detention Watch on Monday joined a growing chorus of disapproval over a program to deport illegal immigrants in the Gwinnett County jail.
Other organizations such as Atlantans Building Leadership for Empowerment and the Concerned Black Clergy have also voiced opposition to federal immigration officials’ 26-day “surge,” which began Monday at the county detention center.
The surge is expected to help the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) figure out how many inmates would be handed over from Gwinnett, should the county be allowed to participate in a program that trains local jailers to begin deportation paperwork.

A press release issued by Georgia Detention Watch said it “condemns in the strongest terms this effort of expulsion of immigrants, many of whom are hard-working members of our communities.” Georgia Detention Watch bills itself as a coalition that includes activists, community organizers, persons of faith and lawyers.
“We believe local enforcement of federal immigration laws leads to racial profiling as well as erosion of trust between immigrant communities and the police, making our communities less safe,” the press release said.

Gwinnett County Sheriff Butch Conway said the program doesn’t violate human rights or constitute racial profiling. He pointed out that it targets people who have been arrested for a crime.
Those who are here illegally are not immigrants, as this group claims,” Conway said. “An immigrant is someone who has entered the United States legally and has nothing to fear.”

With all due respect to Sheriff Conway, you can’t deal with the immigration and illegal immigration issue without dealing with race. Look into Georgia Detention Watch’s finances, and you’ll find many big business fingerprints.
Leftist Democrats will be the ultimate reason this nation bites the dust.
If racial profiling saves lives, then why knock it?

1. “condemns in the strongest terms..” Isn’t this like saying “I’m going to kill you until you’re dead?” I thought condemnation was a very strong term!
2. “Expulsion of imigrants?” Didn’t they leave out a word - like illegal? Jeesh, you would think these poor souls stood in the cold at Elis Island and waited their turn in line!
3. “Many of whom are hard working members of our society.” They are not “members”! Members usually “join” or are “invited” by the community or association. If you break into my house you cannot make up for it by sweeping up the broken glass.
4. “a coalition that includes activists, community organizers, persons of faith and lawyers.” Let’s see: Activist = trouble maker, community organizer = not talented enough to do anything but run for president, persons of faith = the pseudo religious, and lawyers = well, we all know how many directions I could go with this.
We have come to this - voices of idiocy, which were at one time pellted with various rotten vegetables and run off stage, are now listened to as though they have a valid point. Not even God can help us now.
How can enforcing immigration laws lead to racial profiling, unless there is a racial aspect to immigration itself, that is to say, a racist aspect to immigration?
Racial profiling with respect to deportation of illegals? Makes perfect sense to me. If 99.9999% of illegals are hispanics, it would hardly make sense to look at Whites or Africans. Or are the liberal fools to confutilatized to understand that?
Why are these people so stupid? It does not matter how hard working the illegals are, they are ILLEGALS. Hard to grasp? Only if you are stupid or don’t want to understand.
“…We believe local enforcement of federal immigration laws leads to racial profiling as well as erosion of trust between immigrant communities and the police, making our communities less safe…”
It is exactly this backward reasoning that led to the destruction of Southern California.
By refusing to enforce federal immigration laws, our communities in SoCal have become much LESS safe.
Illegal immigrant criminals have formed large, violent gangs in LA due to these policies, going about their business with little fear of deportation, leading to many tragedies such as this:
”..an illegal alien, who was a known gang member, killed the high school football star son of a U.S. Army sergeant, just one day after the shooter was released from custody after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon…”
There should be no ‘level of trust’ between the police and criminals. Maybe if there was more racial profiling and more fear of the police (whose job is to arrest and detain criminals) illegal immigrants would think twice about colonizing the US.
Bon
The fact that anyone would accuse deporting policies as “racial profiling” are admitting that our immigration laws are racist. Our immigration laws discriminate against European peoples worldwide, and the vast majority of immigration is non-European, so these people whining about “racial profiling” are basically admitting how racist they themselves are.
As my fellow metro Atlantans and other Georgians can testify, this is just the type of crybaby liberal trash this bleeding heart rag, the AJC, loves to print.
Georgia Detention Watch said it “condemns in the strongest terms this effort in the expulsion of immigrants”. They can condemn in the strongest terms they want, all day long. The facts are these people are here illegally, they have broken the law and they as well as those who hire and help,(aid and abet), these people are criminals. That goes for banks, to fast food chains, to churches, to organizations like Georgia Detention Watch.
Racial profiling of hispanics? Yes, we need to concentrate on all these Germans entering the country illegally.LOL
We are All Profiled, by age, by income, by home address, by sex. Men pay more for Life Insurance than women WELL doesn’t this make sense if history has porven time and time again that women live longer? When I look at the Police Booking Blotters one thing seems to stand out Open Your Eyes and See It.
Why do they say “racial profiling” as if it were a bad thing?
“We believe local enforcement of federal immigration laws leads to racial profiling…”
Funny how, statistically speaking, the road to enforcement of all laws inevitably leads to “racial profiling.”
We were hit head on by a drunk Illegal in Gwinnett last year. Wife sustained chest pain - and we’re out $7K. The Illegal got off since the Spanish cop who showed up let him go and charged the sober female passenger, instead - even though we identified the drunk male as the driver. “Protect and serve Mexico” it must say on his car. At least 60% of the kids at PreK are Spanish w/ illegal parents (anchor baby fraud in play). Over 100 children turned away by the school - sitting on a waiting list while we teach and feed illegals and their anchor babies on a daily basis with US taxpayer money! R U Kidding Me!!!!! US taxpayer money is for US CITIZENS!!! DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS! Illegals cost GA. at least $1.6 BILLION/yr. - lets help US Citizens with that money… Mexico needs to take ownership of it’s people - the Mexican gov. needs to be fixed so, the Mexican citizens can live a decent life in MEXICO. We should not be forced to pay for the Mexican Government greed. Stop the Madness.
The biggest culprit are the large apartment complexes. They rent to undocumented people with no regard. My fear is the safety issue. We don’t know who is in the country. Illegals are sending their kids to our public schools with TB, and measles. It’s down right scary. I have no problem if these people want to become citizens. But citizens follow laws, pay taxes, and learn English to better themselves and the community. I feel the most sorry for the people that went through the right channels, and became citizens. They worked so hard for something some just take.
