A Connecticut prison inmate has sued the state, claiming that his religious freedom as a Muslim has been violated by the lack of halal meat.
{snip}
“I am a American Muslim and I am being denied the halal meat for the two Islamic feast days,” Collins [Richard Collins] said in his complaint. “The halal meat for the two feasts have great ‘spiritual meaning’ to the Muslim community all over the world.”

Collins was sentenced to 70 years after he was convicted of killing a man in Bridgeport in 2002. He recently won an appeal granting him a new trial.
Brian Garnett, a spokesman for the prison system, said that it meets the requirements set down by a court decision that ruled that New Jersey prisons were not required to serve halal meat, which has been slaughtered according to religious rules.

If this ‘upstanding practising Muslim’ really WAS, he wouldn’t be in jail. Go to jail, lose your rights.
Let him eat cake!
If I were in charge, I’d cook up a pot of Kraft Dinner macaroni (cheap and thus saving taxpayers’ dollars) and dole it out. Anybody who turns up his/her nose at this ‘delicacy’ could simply go without. As my mother used to say, “When you get hungry enough, you’ll eat what’s in front of you.”
Those that would give in to this demand deserve to be jailed themselves as traitors and imbeciles.
Preparing a special meal for one prisoner is insane and I hope prison officials don’t relent. If I had my way this man would get some form of pork every day.Prison is supposed to be punishment isn’t it?
As far as I am concerned, a convicted murder is in no position to be making ANY demands. He is luckly that they are feeding him at all.
The only meat they should be getting is pork and dog meat.
Someone tell me how he would know if meat were Halal, non-halal, or smoked pork?

Has it ever occurred to these amoral morons that the man that this “Muslim of convenience” callously killed might have had great ‘spiritual meaning’ to the victim’s family and friends?
No, of course it hasn’t.
Force feed him pork.
If he really wants to be a muslim, then behead him. That’s what they would do to him in a muslim land. Unless, of course, he killed an infidel. Then he gets to have sex with an underage girl.
I question the spirituality of a convicted murderer who is more troubled about matters of ritual purity than his own blood guilt. A penitent man would not be trying to weasel his way out of a just punishment. Yes, I know that his case is on appeal. Isn’t every killer’s?
Their religious rules include the slaughter of all those who don’t follow their religious rules.
This article is an example of how religion does not always make people honest, law-abiding citizens in the first place.
In prisons across America, many of the inmates were before they broke the law, and still remain in prison, devoutly religious Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
Yet, there are are many Christians who falsely claim that atheism breed crime, and that Atheists, because they do not believe in God, are more prone to be criminals, than Christians.
The truth is that among Atheists, just like Christians, Jews, and Muslims, are those individuals who are criminals, and those individuals who are honest law-abiding citizens with a good moral conscience.
I used to be a fundamentalist Christian, but today I am an Atheist and a member of THE FREEDOM FROM RELIGION FOUNDATION.
One of the people on the staff of THE FREEDOM FROM RELIGION FOUNDATION, Dan Barker, was an evangelist, but gradually gave up on religion, until he also became an Atheist.
I remember when a bunch of fraudulent Chinese ‘refugees’ arrived in boats off Canada’s west coast in 1999, they were detained at a naval base. The federal government ordered food from Ming’s, one of the most expensive restaurants in Victoria. In return for breaking into Canada, these detained ‘refugees’ were fed fresh fruits, sauteed calamari, and steamed salmon. How many genuine Canadians and Americans eat such delicacies on a daily basis? Very few, I’d wager. Amazing how breaking the law can result in better meals.
Let’s look at it this way: If I killed someone in Morocco or Arabia and I got sent to prison … (yes, I know they wouldn’t be so lenient, nor would they feed me and house me for life, but let’s just suppose)… would I be able to demand non-hallal meals to suit my picky religious tastes?
Ha! Silly question! I wouldn’t be alive to be making ANY demands.
This thug doesn’t appreciate when he’s lucky. He dosen’t know how lucky he is!
Bridgeport Conn. last name Collins. This murderer is a black American muslim.
The courts have been through this many times. Black muslims have often sued to stop pork from being served in prisons. The courts have always ruled that the muslims don’t have to eat the pork as long as other protein foods are provided that day.
For instance, on a day pork is served for dinner, eggs should be served for breakfast and protein rich beans for lunch. This will ensure that the prisoner who doesn’t eat the pork served for dinner will get enough protein for the day.
So I doubt that the courts will require he be provided a special meal. Even the pro black and politically correct judiciary is aware of what a falsehood and scam the black muslim prison “religion” is.
The most ludicrious thing about the whole black muslim farce is that the only place they can get recruits in in the state prison system. State prisoners are not exactly first time offenders. Most have served time on county jails. All are there for serious felonies. All this delicate religious sensitivity and sensibility is ridiculous and obviously fraudulent in a man serving 70 years for murder.
How many felonies did he commit before he was sentenced for the murder? How many other murders has he committed?

Better yet, serve him pork three times a day. Prison is supposed to be punishment for a crime, not simply isolation from the types of people criminals victimize in a seperate world with all expenses paid by those victims.

> One could go on and on concerning the harms of superstition and the social perversions that adhering to doctrines formulated thousands of years ago produces. But I also accept that most peope require a sense of belonging to something that feels spiritual and larger than themselves - something that also unites the community and gives it a sense of purpose.
The sad truth is that Nietzsche was right that those who can do without this are a small minority. That is why I often suggest that Whites of European descent focus on the pre-Christian religions of the Celts and Vikings. At least those outlooks are consistent with much of the subculture that was carried along into Christianity but better provide for a real connection between the land and the indigenous people in much the same way as Amerinds view their own indigenous lands as more than a “we were here first” idea (they weren’t necessarily, anyway). They can also do this without making them instant hypocrits the way Christianity does.
I am convinced that the rebirth of the larger White-European must be a rejection of the Middle-Eastern religions altogether. Christianity suppressed progress in Europe for at least a thousand years (and continues to attempt it) and the new threat of Islam (which is stuck where Christianity was in pre-Renaissance Europe)promises a new purging of Europe with not only an intellectual regression, but a real racial conversion.
Often, when I bring this up on Anrem, it is either not published or some poster posits that Western Civilization is all because of Christianity. I try to point out the falsity of this idea. Western progress occurred in spite of Christian suppression. In fact, many pre-Renaissance intellectuals had to hide in secret societies (FM being the main one) or actually infiltrate the church on the lower monastic levels and hide out at obscure monasteries until the Church eventually accepted limited progress here and there.
Imagine how much better a frank war god inspired Viking might have defended against Islamic invasions. The fact is that Charles Martel was a nominal, political Christian. He was - as were many Europeans of the time - answering much older, “pagan” beliefs, rather projecting that personality onto the Christian God and his Son rather than reading (not literate anyway) and finding support for military defense of “Christandom.” To say only Christianity defended Europe is to ignore a thousand years (at least) of Western Empires that defended and replied to invasions from the East. The sponsors may have changed, but the ancient push from the east, Persia in particular - has not changed. We are only relearning it because it has re-emerged after the Soviet break-up and the thaw of the Cold War.
But I completely agree with Henry that insisting on the reassertion of religion as a remedy against another religion is useless and conjures up the image of a dog chasing his own tail.
How about lining his jail cell with delicious cans of Spam?
Spam sales have risen lately as Americans struggle to eat… If it’s good enough for low-income people, it’s good enough for him!

I agree with Whiteplight on this, and I commend him for saying it. (It’s not easy or even safe to criticize religion in America.) But if we lose Christianity, what will replace it?
As as the saying goes — which Robert Ruark used as the motto of his book, “Uhuru” — before you give up what you already have, be sure of what it is that is going to replace it!
I am very leery of what may be most likely to replace it. Sometimes it’s better to go with the known and fix it, than take a dive into the dark and take your chances. Things could be worse. I would not want to come up with a totalitarian Marxist dictatorship — which would seem most likely at this time, given the general national mood and who is best-perched to seize the opportunity (witness the election of a black militant socialist for president). Just a thought.
