Exhibit Chronicles Somalis’ Journey to U.S.

More news stories on Immigration

Sun Journal (Lewiston, Maine), December 27, 2008

The Somali Diaspora: A Journey Away,” a touring exhibition of photographs chronicling the migration of Somali refugees to Maine and other U.S. locations, will open at Bates College with events beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in the Olin Arts Center.

The 55 black-and-white images created by Somali-born photographer Abdi Roble will be exhibited at the Bates College Museum of Art through May 29. The show opens with a 5 p.m. lecture about the U.S. intervention in Somalia, followed by Roble and his collaborator in a book project speaking at 6 p.m. Both events take place in Olin’s Room 104. A reception in the museum follows at 7 p.m.

Since the early 1990s, civil violence has forced hundreds of thousands of Somalis out of that African nation. Roble, who left Somalia in 1989 and now lives in Ohio, has documented the Somali diaspora for five years.

His images trace the refugees’ long hard journey from refugee camps in Kenya to such cities as Minneapolis Columbus, Ohio and Portland, Maine. One group of photographs tracks a single family’s journey from the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya to California, and their subsequent resettlement in Maine.

Michael Paulovich, a retired Marine Corps colonel who served in Somalia with a diplomatic security team during the U.S. presence there in the early 1990s, offers the lecture “Challenges in Humanitarian Intervention: Cultural Lessons from Somalia 1992-1994” at 5 p.m. Jan. 23. For more information, visit www.bates.edu/x187700.xml.

Paulovich will be followed at 6 p.m. by Roble and writer Doug Rutledge, discussing their collaboration on the book “The Somali Diaspora: A Journey Away,” based on the images Roble is showing at Bates.

In photographing the refugees, Roble told the AP, he found himself humbled by the stories he witnessed. The images represent “classic American stories of people landing in this country. It’s exactly the same, it just happened in a different time.”

So? Let another African nation take them in. I mean if it wants people who think that chewing narcotic type weeds and fighting is part of life.

Remember Clinton’s war crimes in bombing Bosnia? Rememer that there were like 40,000 refugees because of it? And remember that the US said it would take some if they returned home after the fighting had stopped, but only if Europe took some?

Funny, isn’t it that if the refugees are the crime and poverty non-white types nothing is EVER mentioned about sending them back after the fighting stops, and they amount to millions.

I have lost faith in this country in its present form, and I supporting the US government for about 15 years now. It’s my land, but it’s not my country or government.

I would never, EVER consider fighting for a country that contains 100 million people who are here only to make money and hate whitey.

If you notice someone not standing when the national anthem is played, or saying the Pledge of Allegiance, that will be me or one of hundreds of thousands of people who feel the same way.

In its present form, this is NOT my country. My country is my family, friends, and racial kin, who are not far left nut cases.

It is bad enough that these interlopers are Muslim, but to add insult to injury, they are black as well. These are African blacks from a medieval culture that hasn’t advanced one iota in millenniums and can’t possibly relate to the modern world.

I wasn’t aware that America suffers from a critical shortage of blacks to the point that Washington feels the need to import more. Contrast this cultural and racial treachery with the pitifully small number of whites Washington allows to enter our country as immigrants.

It is time for white Americans to take a stand and demand that Washington stop importing Muslims, Hispanics, East Indians and communist Chinese. This is a nation that was founded, built and sustained by whites for whites and we needn’t apologize to anyone for that. Need I remind you that we number in the millions and the congress is less than 600 mostly useless traitors? Washington must be made to serve whites first or be placed against the wall sans blindfolds and last cigarettes…

Gee, how utterly touching. Now tell us, puleeze. Will this exhibit also chronicle the Somalis’ inevitable gravitating to crime, robbery, muggings, rape, and killings… as the years roll by?

There is only one lesson to learn, and Whites refuse to learn it. End immigration to this country and adopt a foreign policy of non-intervention.

No, the classic American story is Whites coming to a wild an sparely populated land, creating an advanced and free civilization, then screwing it all up and giving it away.

Yes, it’s exactly the same except the previous European immigrants weren’t welfare-addicted gang members w/an average IQ of 70.

I wonder if Abadi will mention the way America’s Africans engaged in some civil violence of their own to cleanse their neighborhoods of the Somalis that the Liberals had inserted. Thus forcing their insertion into the areas inhabited by docile Whites, who would offer no opposition to the disruption the Somalis created.

It is not the same. The refugees in maine were in the south first , but did not recieve as much welfare down there.

The only purpose the exhibit should have is to pose the question: what is the time-table and action plan for the Somali exiles to return to their homeland…

This could be simply title: “Another Victory for the Cultural Marxists”

and Maine takes another whirl around the cosmic drain. What are they doing to my home?

11 — John from Newcastle. wrote at 3:28 AM on December 30:

Why stop there? Why not continue the pictures in the exhibition to show them filling out of the forms for their life on welfare,
then they can picture them as they walk the streets looking for trouble and white women to rape. They can follow them to the hospitals and photo them as they begin their AIDS treatments and have their tuberculosis scans which will always be positive.
There is absolutely nothing positive about African migration to western countries.

Hopefully they will continue to add to this touring exhibit of photographs chronicling the migration of Somali refugees to Maine. Perhaps they can profile the rise of female circumcision in New England. Or maybe they might do an collage of photos showing an honor killing of a woman who was raped. They could even profile a young girl actually being stoned to death for infidelity. Ah yes, such are the wonders of a diverse culture.

Dennis: because white liberals and social engingeers encouraged them to move their - notice that any place that is ‘dangerously white’ (a phrase from a NWO bureucrat in England) will be targeted for ‘enrichment’

but wait! “classic American stories of people landing in this country.” I thought we europeans were violent genocidal maniacs who didn’t contribute anything…in that case perhaps the somalis are a ‘classic american story’

PS I wonder if they will include a video clip of somalis in sweden, boasting they had rape ‘white sluts’ and shrugging their shoulders indifferently when told its wrong.

Anyone who has read Richard Burtons still accurate description of the Somalis (he should know he got a spear through the jaw from one of them) would know its insanity to let them into this country. But insane is what we are.

Like someone said, they were predominantly in Atlanta but went looking for more generous welfare benefits. I think the mayor of Lewiston once sent a letter to the charity involve to stop sending somalis. There was an article in the Economist a few years back called The Great Somali Welfare Hunt. It’s also deliberate on the part of these same organizations to spread the dark seed directly into the whitest areas, like cancer cells metastizising. They mean to deny us any white-flight areas whatsoever.

Many are not “black-looking” at all; more like Arabic with curly hair, smooth skins, and thin noses.I know am being controversial with this comment, but I must say some of the women are frankly beautiful. You can see why a few have made it to the modeling runway. The teenage girls wear their head scarves and robes but underneath wear Levis and tennies. They like white people and openly prefer them to African Americans, who they consider crude and loud (one boy called them “wildebeests with no respect” ) I have had experiences that include acts of real generosity on their part, including a young boy who helped an autistic white child walk to school when needed.
My personal experience only, of course, and not validated by much of a sample. In general they don’t seem too worked up about Islam; rather laid back about it. Not like the Iranian spirit in the least.
However, their presence here is due to the UN Refugee program and demonstrates clearly the power of the international authorities over the average American. It is amazing how this usurpation never gets discussed in the public media.

mark, Somalis and Ethiopians are an admixture. If there are any redeeming qualities such as your beauty, then it is unlikley from the sub-Saharan component. As one poster in another “Somali” story said several weeks ago, Somalis combine the worst of Bantus and Muslims.

I have to add in to mark’s post by adding that I once had a patient from Ethiopia who one day asked me, “What’s the problem with American Blacks? Why do they act so crazy?” I did my best to explain it without exhibiting malice or apology, which I think is possible.

I, too, live in Minnesota and while the Somalis clearly have no business at all being here (walking around in desert garb in the winter and summer?), the generally keep to themselves, unlike our horrid African-American population who are the ones hell bent on infiltrating and destroying white communities. I have met several African immigrants who DETEST African-Americans to such a degree they refer to themselves as ‘brown’ rather than black to disassociate themselves from American blacks.

I live in a city with a critical mass of Somali immigrants. A week does not go by when a Somali is not in court for some anti-social behavior.

Mark, I have to pretty much disagree with ya on most everything ya wrote.
Maybe you live in an area that’s only lightly infected?
I live in South Minneapolis where there is a sizable congregation of Somali’s and there is a Somali “Church”/ mosque at the end of my street. My experience is totally different.
I think once they feel they have the power of numbers in an area, they no longer put on the “happy happy make nice face”. They become like they are in My neighborhood: Insular, Insolent, Loud, Violent, Abusive and Rude!

Their Children run screeching and yelping up and down my block ALL day and ALL night, they literally sound like packs of Hyenas!
Saying “Hello” to one of their fully head-to-toe burka’d women in passing on the street will only get you a scowl from the woman and a menacing look from any Somali men nearby. They are NOT the most Neighborly people.
You are right on one point though, they Do despise Black Americans, but then, they pretty much seem to despise anyone that ain’t Them.
The men are excessivley Macho, Boastful and proud even though they have No Jobs and do Nothing at All, All Day, Every Day.

So Yeah, it pretty much Sucks to be forced to share your community with, and support with your tax dollars, complete strangers that hate you, hate your life-style, hate your country, hate your government and hate your religion and you were never even told, let alone Asked, if you wanted this. You are just expected to pay-up Sucker, and shut-up and be a good little mule about it!

“Uncle Sam” has become a lecherous old bastard, drunk on the wine of his own power. Uncle Sam has devoured all of us, and is now devouring the future of our posterity before it is even born.

Importing foreigners who hate you for everything you stand for is not an act of a benevolent government!

It is the act of a tyranical government looking to weaken it’s own native populace!

Tick-Tock………..

Refugee Resettlement Watch.com reports:

According to Heidi Boas in her lengthy 2007 paper entitled, ‘The New Face of America’s Refugees: African Refugee Resettlement to the United States:

“….several of the individuals interviewed for this paper identified the Congressional Black Caucus as one of the most influential groups advocating over the past decade for increased African refugee resettlement to the United States…”

http://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/2007/08/16/macons-muslim-mayor/

From Ranger:

“…So? Let another African nation take them in…”

And spoil the lefties plans to destabilize White communities?

The American people need to rise up against this abomination against our country and our people. Our government MUST stop accepting refugees immediately.

VDare.com:

“…Under a 1997 agreement with the United Nations, which operates Somali Bantu refugee camps in Kenya, the Somali Bantu were to resettle in Mozambique, their ancestral homeland. But Mozambique backed out…”

http://www.vdare.com/walker/lewiston.htm

From anonymous at 12:31 AM on December 30:

“…The refugees in Maine were in the south first , but did not receive as much welfare down there…”

Exactly right. Brenda Walker writes:

“…Interestingly, many of the current Lewiston Somali refugees came from Clarkston, Georgia….Abdullahi Abdullahi, president of the Clarkston Somali Community Development Organization, explained: ‘Maine is crazy cold, but the welfare system is much better.’…”

Results?

At 3 percent of the Lewiston’s population, Somalis now receive 46 percent of its welfare payments.

From Mike:

“…I think the mayor of Lewiston once sent a letter to the charity involve to stop sending Somalis…”

Yes, indeed he did:

“…Mayor Laurier Raymond wrote a letter pleading with Somali clan leaders that they tell their relatives not to come: ‘We have been overwhelmed and have responded valiantly. Now we need breathing room. Our city is maxed-out financially, physically and emotionally.’

For expressing the simple financial realities of his city, Mayor Raymond has been called every name for racist…”

http://www.vdare.com/walker/lewiston.htm

From 11:22 AM on December 30:

“…because white liberals and social engineers encouraged them to move there - notice that any place that is ‘dangerously white’…”

I think Refugee Watch has come up with the best explanation as to why Somalis and other backwards Third World African refugees are being deliberately settled in White areas (this is straight out of Saul Alinsky’s ‘Rules for Radicals’):

“…Immigrants and refugees offer a continuous supply of ‘Have-nots’ for whom radicals can wage a war against the ‘Haves.’ Community instability is necessary to bring about ‘change.’…”

http://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/category/community-destablization/

And finally, from exemplary poster Ranger:

“…It’s my land, but it’s not my country or government.

I would never, EVER consider fighting for a country that contains 100 million people who are here only to make money and hate whitey…”

Yes Ranger, my feelings exactly. And I’m hearing rumors that obama is planning to use US Troops to ‘intervene’ in Dafur and expand the war in Afghanistan (spoken from the security of the US; you can bet he and his loved ones will never find themselves fighting guerrillas or snipers overseas).

My 15-year old son has already been warned that if a draft starts up (as I suspect it will) he WILL BE promptly flown out of the US. My beautiful 15-year old son (or my daughters for that matter) will not EVER be used as cannon fodder for politicians whose policies I virulently oppose (and who despise me because my family and I are White).

Anyway, thanks for the great posts, and fasten your seat belts, it’s going to get interesting—are you prepared?

Bon

Sorry, Mark, I can’t agree with you the ones I’ve seen down South have been unappealing and hygiene impoverished. A few may make it to the fashion runway, but then affirmative action plays into this. As far as I’m concerned, they have added little or nothing to our economy or culture.
