French Say ‘Yes, We Can!’ Too, to Ending Racism

More news stories on France

Angela Charlton, AP, November 9, 2008

Inspired by Barack Obama, the French first lady and other leading figures say it’s high time for France to stamp out racism and shake up a white political and social elite that smacks of colonial times.

A manifesto published Sunday—subtitled “Oui, nous pouvons!”, the French translation of Obama’s campaign slogan “Yes, we can!”—urges affirmative action-like policies and other steps to turn French ideals of equality into reality for millions of blacks, Arabs and other alienated minorities.

Grass-roots groups in France and Britain are trying to turn Obama’s election into electoral gains for minorities at home. Sunday’s manifesto suggests France’s elites are taking notice, too.

“The election of Barack Obama highlights via a cruel contrast the shortcomings of the French Republic, and the distance that separates us from a country whose citizens knew how to go beyond the racial question and elect a man who happens to be black as president,” the appeal said.

The manifesto was written by Yazid Sabeg, a French self-made millionaire whose parents were Algerian immigrants, and signed by politicians from the left and right and other public figures.

Obama is extremely popular in France, yet blacks and other minorities are nearly invisible in national or local politics here. The lower house of parliament has 555 members from the French mainland; just one is black.

The manifesto calls for affirmative action policies like those the United States used years ago to encourage greater minority representation in the workplace and in universities.

Sarkozy has suggested affirmative action for France, but later backed away from the idea since it goes against France’s ideals of egalitarianism, which dictate that the country not classify its citizens according to race. This idea that everyone is just “French” means there are no census or other national figures calculating how big the country’s minority groups are.

The manifesto urges term limits to make way for more minority candidates, and presses the government to improve schools in working-class neighborhoods.

This is some of Sarcozy’s idiot wife’s immature, naive do-gooderism showing its ugly face.

She’s one of those naive, gullible types who think all the black crime, violence, arson, murder, rapes, hatred and riots, can be cured overnight if whitey would only extend a welcoming hand.

I wonder how long it’s going to be before she divorces him for something she deems shocking and intolerable, like squeezing the toothpase in the middle instead of on the end?

France is the insane asylum for the rest of the world if they seriously consider this proposal. This is just another case of white-hating liberals telling other people what to do. I’ll bet the author doesn’t live within several light years of a black person. All these liberals should be forced to live in a minority neighborhood before they are allowed to open their mouths.

This is probably the main reason why I was opposed to Obama being elected. His election will present a role model that the rest of the world — well, the white world, at least — will rush to emulate. And here it is, not even a week later, and we see exactly that coming to pass.

Not only is Obama regarded, internationally, as automatically “wonderful” (for some vague, unexplained reason), but he will be almost immune to criticism. Any potential criticism will tend to be equated with racism and thus will make the press, and everyone else, shy away from expressing anything but fawning, positive opinions of him and of his presidency.

He will have to mess up colossally to get any really strong and blunt criticism. Even then, I can’t imagine him being subjected to the savage attacks and personal abuse that some other presidents have had to endure. That won’t happen.

If countries are appraising the Obama presidential victory this closely, it would be devastating to their image of a black president if his term was disastrous or ineffectual.

Obama is more popular in Europe then America. 88% in Holland is pro-Obama. The oldest university in Flanders voted 98% Obama.

A french guy on the election:

Obama has won. The elite and the media supported him without even knowing his agenda. It was necessary to elect Obama because of the color of his skin. Slavery, colonization and Islamophobia had to be expiated.

A large majority of the world’s population is rejoicing over this racist voting and rightly sees it as the expression of an anti-white vote. It is truly an historic day. Beginning now, our days are numbered.

In Europe this election will encourage all the lobbies that endorse immigration as population replacement. The “white” culture will be forced to melt into a racially mixed, relativist and multicultural magma. On the other hand, the Muslim, African and Papuan cultures will be magnified.

The day will come when this Orwellian society will collapse under the weight of its contradictions but it will be too late to re-establish our values. We have no future: now it is every man for himself and God for all.

So the blacks and the white liberals who voted for Obama made a color-blind choice to support a candidate whose race was incidental? If you believe that I have some real estate in Zimbabwe I’d like to sell you.

Why don’t the french just shoot themselves instead? Oh I forgot they are not allowed to be armed.
What the heck is wrong with Europe? What’s wrong with us?
sarkozy was a trojan multiculti. Pray for France.
Enstupidation is globally ubiquitous.
Revelations anyone?

Non!

actually the Americans are behind the French. Someday, God willing, we will have a First Lady that is taller than the President. Yes, we can! Then we will be in a new age of equality.

This fool will soon be parted from all his conservative ideas.

Carla Bruni and Sarko:

What’s the difference between Michael Schumacher and Nicolas Sarkozy? MS was first and Monte Carlo, and NS was last at Mounting Carla.

12 — Kenelm Digby wrote at 6:35 AM on November 11:

Why doesn’t Sarkozy actually put his money where his mouth is and make the supreme selfless gesture of actually voluntarily resigning his office and handed over power to a black African woman?
- Don’t hold your breath.
He’s just all talk and bullying bluster for those Whites who are ‘beneath’ him, who of course must bear the brunt of his ‘affirmative action’.

Yet another eason to hold all politicians in contempt.

The problem with the French is the fact that they are so French. The French are a suicidal bunch of people. The Brits are too far behind them.

The French aren’t racist. They hate everyone equally. Of course if you give them a pile of money and save their a**es from the Germans, they will act nice for a short time. But then they go back to being jerks.

That all depends on what you mean by “ruling class”.
It is the communist elite who have imported them.
They are not the aristocrats, but they are the rulers now.
You could say they are the new aristocrats.

Just doing what the French government does best- screwing up the Motherland. It’s no fun these days to have French-American dual citizenship, I tell you. Those aren’t great choices anymore.

I’ve lived in France before, and as a matter of fact, I just returned from there last week. As far as I can see, the French still don’t have much use for anybody who isn’t French, let alone a bunch of unalterably foreign third worlders. Their government is straight up lying when they say they reflect the social attitude of the French people.

…………………………..

No! The problem is that they (or their leaders) are not French ENOUGH.

Just as Sarkozy is the son and grandson of immigrants, Carla’s family is not of French origen either. They were Italian Jews, but she is a naturalized French citizen. She has no French ancestry at all. Carla is his third wife. His former wife, Cecilia, actually bragged that she didn’t have a drop of French blood. She was of Jewish-Spanish descent. Thus, the “French” First Family is not really French - except legally. It is an excellent example of multiculturalism-pluralism-globalism at work. A thoroughly cosmopolitan family of the 21st Century.

But now, America’s new First Family has gone them one step further. Ours will be not just multi-cultural, but multi-racial. Hard for the Sarkozy’s to compete with that!

“Affirmative action” is racism. It failed here and will fail everywhere.

21 — A Reader wrote at 11:17 AM on November 12:

This absurd article supports the thesis that “racist” is a code word for “white” (see:
http://www.geocities.com/readerswrite/commentaries/Racism_code_word.htm

). Accordingly, the newborn are “racist” (or “prejudiced”) as soon as they turn out are white.

The above shows the ultimate goal of “anti-racism” in an interesting perspective: to eliminate whites or, at least, to render them irrelevant minorities in their own countries.

And this, it seems, is exactly what is going on now in the U.S. and parts of Europe.

A rebirth of the French Resistance is all that is required to cleanse France of the stench of Islam. If I were to publicly state the previous sentence in France I would be pilloried by the state as being a racist hate monger attempting to incite violence, however, when the Muslims proudly publicly proclaim daily that they intend to conquer France and impose Sharia law; the state is mute.
