Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday it was “unacceptable” that there were so few black people like herself in the US diplomatic corps.

“I have lamented that I can go into a meeting at the Department of State,” said Rice, the second black person to become secretary of state after her predecessor Colin Powell.
“And, as a matter of fact, I can go into a whole day of meetings at the Department of State and actually rarely see somebody who looks like me, and that’s just not acceptable,” she added.
She said she has been working with black Congressman Charles Rangel to target students at schools with large numbers of blacks, according to a State Department transcript of her speech.

It is acceptable if they’re not qualified.
Unless someone in a black’s family got their stuff together generations ago, it ain’t goin’ happen and it shouldn’t.
Qualities necessary for positions of these sorts can be learned, but they’re even stronger with preparedness that is usually passed down from decent family members and a positive/encouraging environment. It all starts at home.

Blacks aren’t very diplomatic. They tend to be charismatic, but this is more than offset by their tendency to have bad attitudes, low agreeableness, high aggressiveness, short time horizons, low conscientiousness, etc.
Rice should thank her lucky stars she got her token position; given that this is coming a few months before her eight years in the Bush administration are up, maybe she has.

Even Rice is intelligent enough to relaize that she is a token, affirmative action figure. She is the SoS *because* she is a Black woman.
Think of all of the more deserving Whites who were passed over for the SoS position. Think of all of the deserving Whites who are passed over for many jobs, positions, seats in school, and government contracts each day because they are White. Think of all of the White business owners and property owners who are forced to conduct business with and loan money to high-risk minorities. Think of the White taxpayers who bear the burden of the impact of Blacks on our society.
Rice does not have a clue, although she should have a clue considering the fact that she has traveled to Africa and witnessed to results of a continent with a Black majority…
…not to mention cities like Detroit, New Orleans, Harlem, etc.

Is anyone besides myself remembering the disgusting spectacle of watching Colin Powell fall right into line with the neo-con ‘WMD’ lies and actually appear before the United Nations - on world-wide television - and spout the most nauseating garbage about these phony ‘mobile weapons factories’ and a whole host of other neo-con bull manure - in order to con the unintelligent and lazy American public into thinking war with Iraq was necessary? And, then we all remember how Condo-girl did her part by appearing on the weekend political shows and spewing even more ridiculas lies about ‘mushroom clouds’, et al. War Criminal Condi and Colin,
right? Liars, all. Is that the example of black leadership skills that is supposed to impress white men and women?

The reason she doesn’t see many black faces is because unlike her, so many black Americans are not qualified for anything on her level. Rice is highly educated so it’s weird to see her devolve into this. It’s as if the Obama virus has turned her uppity!!!!

When I was in college I looked at the test for applicants who wanted to get into the diplomatic corps. It looked like a very difficult one, and I doubt if it is “race normed”, so it’s unlikely there are very many black applicants that can pass it.

Apparently, it will always be “unacceptable” because to get to those positions it takes a good education, intelligence and a high degree of sophistication to be even considered. As long as most American blacks show no interest in education, are lacking in intelligence and confuse sophistication with street smarts and thug culture it will probably remain that way. Secretary of State Rice will one day be remembered about as much as Shirley Chisholm. Perhaps when her time is up (and it’s not far off) she can do her part to change that. But I seriously doubt it.

Maybe 20 years ago, I remember reading that the State Department was dropping its hiring requirement of proficiency in a foreign language. A few years later, I read an article by Walter Mondale, ( Jimmy Carter’s Vice President, I think.) bemoaning the lack of language skills among our diplomatic people. Stupid liberal, I thought to myself, make up your mind. Perhaps Condi’s beef is that the State Department, under Republican rule, has reinstated the language requirement, leaving her racial kin out of luck.

This is the problem with intelligent Blacks: they cannot bring themselves to admit that their race is, by and large, dull witted. The lie of racial equality that pollutes all our public discourse has got them too, no matter that they, of all people, should recognize the intellectual gulf that separate the two races. That is why I would be reluctant to accept any Black, even Thomas Sowell, as fit for public office. It is a hard thing to ask of anyone, that they should recognize their innate inferiority. No matter how bright a Black is, he doesn’t care to know that his offspring will likely revert to the norm for his race.

I’m disappointed with Condi over that remark, and amazed she would pick Charley “Slumlord” Rangel for her outreach partner.
Funny thing is, she RUNS the State Dept., and could have hired as many blacks, women, etc. as she wanted.
Was it a lack of qualified candidates, or a failure of her hiring initiatives?
Actually, I think she’s positioning for a position after the election, figuring Obama will win.

I can remember about six or more years ago hearing many a Movement Conservative singing the praises of the mighty “Condi” as the savior of the American political right. They had designs of her running for President, the whole works…”She’s Black” they would crow, “she’s brilliant” they would howl, “she’s female” they would gush!
…fast foward to the present. I haven’t heard even the most ardent Neo-conman talking head-type even speak her name, let alone lavish her with any great adulation. Seems, ‘ol “Condi” turned out to be nothing more than another Washington tool and nothing more. So much for the great Black hope of Movement Conservatism.

Are there any blacks in the world who don’t put their race first and foremost ahead of everything else? Little miss mediocre has finally come out of the closet wearing her racist T-shirt that says “blacks before god, country, and countrymen.”
After taking note of the many interviews she’s made, and reading much of what she does and says, it has been blaringly apparent to me this woman doesn’t have the intelligence, experience or wisdom to be an effective secretary of state. I mean, her advisors can take her only so far, and the people behind her can run her office so that no major screw ups occur, but she lets the cat out of the bag when she opens her mouth in an in depth interview and oftentimes in just speaking in general. So for her to want more incompetents like her to bring us down to third world status is not surprising, but it certainly would be disasterous.
This last administration has been very informative for me. It has revealed that ANYBODY almost can hold high office and get by so long as they have competent people supporting them.
Like most blacks, she has a big problem with arrogance, and because of it it blinds her to the fact that if she had blacks supporting her the office of Secretary of State would be a mess. I have no doubt she believes she does everything on her own.
She says she would like to be around more people who look like her. Isn’t that what all aware whites want, but are accused of racism for voicing their opinion?
Why these blacks like her don’t migrate to Africa where they can quit dwelling on race by being around their own kind is beyond me. That’s really the only real solution to the racial divide in this country.
I’d be willing to give her and her people California if they all promised to move there.

The State Dept. is catering to blacks and other minorities these days. Go to their website and try to find the face of a white male. They recently dumbed down the test for Foreign Service Officer so that blacks could qualify. I remember looking at a study guide for the FSO test several years ago. You really had to have your stuff together on many subjects including geography, political science and economics. It was no joke. The new computerized test is a joke.

I’m convinced that whining is part of the black genetic code; “Not enough, give me more, it’s white people’s fault, I want better, me first” —- ad nauseam.
Along with this spoiled adolescent defect comes its comorbid feature: lack of the most basic level of gratitude.
Rice is truly a bore.
If she was honest, she would understand that blacks reject education almost wholesale, and most of those who made it through college have been simply handed their degrees — in mind-numbingly useless majors like “black studies”, social work, sociology, and “parks and recreation” (yes, U of Michigan has a major in that for their black jocks). Quotas demand a mandatory number of many black grads in public supported universities.
In short, most blacks simply aren’t smart enough for great responsibility. Name one who won a Nobel in science. There isn’t a place on the planet where they’ve prospered peacefully. Rice: get a clue.

The problem is not a lack of qualified Blacks. The problem is why would any qualified Black go through what she and Powell went through? Why would any Black want to be labeled an “Aunt Jemima,” an “Uncle Tom,” or a “House N****r”? Speaking of race, it is obvious Rice is only in her position because of her race. She has been a total incompetent in the view of many who aren’t afraid of the “R” word. She has a hatred of whites which she generally conceals . But her repeated bringing up the Birmingham Church Bombings while she is on diplomatic missions shows her true sentiments. She is a female Colin Powell. Powell was promoted over 150 generals with more senority and most with more competence because a black token was needed. After serving a Repbulican administration in a position he had no qualifications for, he now stabs republicans in the back by saying he is voting for Obama. There’s few black diplomats because few blacks are both interested and competent enough to serve in diplomatic service.

Those living outside Washington, D.C. probably don’t know this, but in some Federal Offices in Washington, D.C., nearly every employee is Black. Now, imagine if a White person in such an office said: “And, as a matter of fact, I can go into a whole day of meetings at the Department of …. and actually rarely see somebody who looks like me, and that’s just not acceptable.”
If a White person made such a statement, he/she would be fired within 24 hrs. Ms. Rice’s statement is nothing but racism, and is unacceptable. The American people demand her immediate resignation.

I find that hard to believe. A friend of mine’s brother has an advanced degree and wanted to work for a university. He was constantly rejected in favor of less qualified victim-persons. Obviously, they have no problems at all finding persons who are both victims and ‘qualified’. My friend and his brother were both college educated, so they were more or less both flaming liberals but he admitted affirmative action is a huge deal. He thought it was a bigger deal (more prevelant) than I did.
I agree, if Condi wants to see more people of color -er more blacks, she should visit Africa. But that wasn’t what I was thinking. I was thinking, go visit a prison or some of the local homes in DC

Remember that it was Rice who neglected to alert Bush of the CIA reports that suggested a serious attack was mounting. Her neglect was key in allowing the 9/11 attacks. Will anyone learn from this lesson that placing friends and token minorities in important offices can lead to serious setbacks for everyone and even the world? Mr. Scott, this kind of posting does much to tarnish the image of this site. Personal attacks of this sort should be limited to the barroom or a similar setting. If you look at photos of other Secretarys of States, you will notice that many of them are not good looking. Good looks is not the criteria for the job. The ability to do the job is the proper criteria.

I live in the UK and I’ve seen plenty of highly-paid black sports stars and entertainers but I’ve never seen any black street-sweepers or miners. I also have a question for those who frequent Amren: Do your perceptions of Blacks come from being cheated out of jobs by AA, financial dealings with Blacks or everyday encounters…. The reason I ask this is I believe that it takes a shock of reality to extricate one from the mind-numbing propanda Liberalism can effect on someone. Also, why haven’t ALL Whites come to the same conclusion of most Blacks as us? What will it take to spark a wholesale change-of-mind and policy?

Err… I kind of like the job Rice has done to be honest. She disarmed a lot of hard cases around the world and was assertive enough to win much more than she lost. And though she’s a neocon, at least she isn’t a dumbstercrat. I mean how can a democrat actually look at themselves in the mirror each morning? Anyways, I suppose it’s time for her to take a teaching position somewhere, write her memoirs, and fade into obscurity. She’s one African-American I personally do not have a problem with. If the ability to do the job is the proper criteria, as Bill Black says, how does this square with Condoleeza’s participation as one of the principle orchestrators of the swindle of the US public that the invasion of Iraq was necessary or justifiable? This woman was US secretary of state when this sham was foisted onto us and the rest of the world! This year, the State Department will move 100 diplomatic positions from Europe and Washington to countries such as China, India, and Nigeria.”
Here it is people who talk about changing the world have serious issues…and I suspect Condi is one of those of her generation that can not handle certain realities. Tout au contraire! Dr. Rice is a very intelligent woman, who has accomplished far more than many of AmRen readers would even aspire, let alone achieve. At age 19, she completed her BA in political science and at age 26 received her PhD in the same subject, all from the University of Denver.
Without any formal business training, as provost of Stanford University, she balanced the school’s account sheets, a feat that was thought almost impossible in the time frame she did it (2 years). As a professor at Stanford University, she was an expert on special topics of foreign policy, especially vis-à-vis the USSR. Brent Scowcroft was so impressed by her knowledge at a particular meeting that she was immediately recommended to serve President Bush who relied on her advice re dealings with Gorbachev and Yeltsin.
Feel free to criticize her for asking for bemoaning the dearth of blacks and minorities at positions up high; feel free to criticize her for being involved in the US-Iraq fiasco; even, feel free to criticize her for being born black. But to attack her intelligence and achievement just strips you of credibility in toto and portrays you as morally and intellectually bankrupt. Definitely not a good look!
