Minutemen Look to Expand Free Speech Lawsuit

An anti-illegal immigration group, the San Diego Minutemen, is trying to pull two Latino lawmakers into its legal clash with the California Department of Transportation.
Attorneys for the group have asked a federal judge for permission to expand their free speech lawsuit against the state agency. They want to add Assemblyman Joe Coto (D-San Jose) and state Sen. Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) to the defendant list. They also want to ask for punitive damages, court documents show.
Minutemen attorney Howard Kaloogian, a former state assemblyman, accused the lawmakers Thursday of urging Caltrans to ban the group from participating in the state’s Adopt-a-Highway program.
The Minutemen sued Caltrans in February after the agency revoked the group’s permit to pick up trash along a stretch of Interstate 5, near the Border Patrol checkpoint. Caltrans also removed a courtesy sign with the group’s name.
Kaloogian filed the request to amend the suit Monday in U.S. District Court.
“We have uncovered an active conspiracy to obviously deny our clients their constitutional rights,” he said. “This deserves to be punished.”

The group also plans to allege that Coto and Cedillo worked with Caltrans to “silence the Minutemen’s message and remove the Minutemen’s presence from public view,” court documents show.

There is an active conspiracy to squelch the rights of California citizens. That conspiracy is covered up by the likes of Feinstein, Boxer, Pelosi, etc. and carried out by the reconquistas in Sacramento, and sanctuary cities throughout the State, as well as various State agencies already under the thumb of LA RAZA. Anyone who has lived in California can see this, if they are the slightest bit aware of the politics in the state.

The Minutmen could well get some money over this law suit. I wish more people and groups would tie up these kinds of leftist manipulators in court.
We need far more lawsuits for our side.

Thanks to Kaloogian this offense may be acknowledged.
There is no doubt in my mind that CA has deprived anyone who brings visiblity to selective enforcement of laws. When it comes to illegals I and all are afraid. The state sponsors illegals with every form of entitlement. The state ignores Fed laws and the Feds appear to place foreign (Mexicos) interests above the USA citizens. There is a foul smell permeating the landscape. The state takes my tax dollars to redistribute to illegals. The costs to CA will never be returned. V

No doubt. Aside from the odious injustice, upholding right and wrong, and the need for a reality check, massive lawsuits from the right at the very least would force into play legal reforms.

Major kudos to the Minutemen for taking on Cedillo, Coto and the other reconquistas who believe their main job in the legislature is to represent the illegal aliens. We all know about Cedillo’s big push for driver licenses for illegals and the so-called Dream Act providing instate tuition for illegals. However, the Dream Act has recently been shot down by the 9th Circuit. The attack on the Minutemen’s Adopt-A-Highway project demonstrates again how far they are in the tank to assist illegals. They obviously think nothing of corrupting agencies of government in their goal of bringing millions of illegal aliens into this country. These people are clearly not loyal Americans but are Fifth Columnists who’s goal is to undermine America and California in their efforts to assist a foreign nation and its citizens.

Guess who broke the story in the blogosphere? Yep, yours truly:
Most of those who have run with this story have not made the proper citation, even though the source they got it from does cite me. Though, I’m happy this story has legs, and I’m happy to have influenced the news cycle a little bit.

JAKE, it is the beurocrats at every level that must be called to account for the insanity that goes on in California. Californians, are simply too lax about all of the lawbreaking, and lunacy that goes on since the invasion of millions of foreign nationals. The whole State is getting so corrupt, that it is really starting to resemble Mexico in very large areas. When I say it is starting to resemble Mexico, I don’t mean because you can see Mexicans everywhere. I mean that the shabbiness, the disregard for things like building and housing codes, is taking its toll. Easterners that have not suffered the amount of illegal immigration from especially Mexico, cannot fathom what they are in for if they go the route California has, and is continuing to go.

I’m an active Minuteman in California and the quote below by Bobby is truly accurate. Also, there is no possible way to avoid being called “racist” by the opposition if you are a white person opposed to illegal immigration. This victimization indu$try tactic has worked thus far for them so they will continue to use it.
