2,183 Iraqi Refugees Admitted Last Month

More news stories on Immigration

Natasha T. Metzler, AP, September 3, 2008

The United States admitted fewer Iraqi refugees in August than in the previous record-setting month, but remains on pace to meet the Bush administration’s goal of 12,000 by the end of September.

{snip}

August’s figure brings the number of Iraqi refugees accepted in the U.S. to 10,998 since the current budget year began on Oct. 1. This means the administration will only have to accept 1,002 more refugees in September to reach 12,000. August was the fourth straight month where admissions surpassed the administration’s target of 1,000 refugees per month, so it’s likely that the overall goal will be met.

{snip}

The goal is far lower than other many countries, notably Sweden, which has admitted about 40,000 since 2003. And it’s only a small slice of the 2 million Iraqis who have fled to neighboring countries, mainly Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt.

The Bush administration has come under criticism from advocacy groups and lawmakers for its performance on admitting Iraqi refugees who have fled violence since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion. Many critics say, and officials have acknowledged, that the administration has a moral obligation to the refugees.

Since we are bringing the troops home little by little, by the time they all are home we will have enough of the Iraqi’s here that our troops can continue on doing what they did over there! Then we all get to live with bombings and such……what a grand idea. We get to live here like they do over there!

At least they are caucasians and should be respected as such by everyone racially aware. Keeping in mind some caucasians are best respected from a distance.

Well, I guess you destroy their country and this is only to be expected. But if there was any justice, they would be set up in the neighbourhoods of the Charles Krauthammers and Bill Kristols.

It doesn’t bother me that middle eastern countries take them in, they are fellow jihadists anyway. The US has a moral obligation, this is an outrage. We took out Hussein and huge numbers of his henchmen at a significant cost of money, and lives. Now let Allah take care of them. The question now is who will liberate us?

Does anything spell INSANITY like this? Fighting muslim terrorists across the world, trying to keep them out of the USA..then we let in the lead elements of waves of future immigration from Iraq. This is so infuriating, it’s indescribable.

Posted by at 8:47 PM on September 4

Our country does NOT have a “moral obligation” to allow Iraqis to immigrate.

If our teenage sons and daughters can fight for “Iraqi Freedom,” then every Iraqi man, woman and child has the moral obligation to do so also.

How twisted the view that it is okay for American boys and girls (in some cases - only children!)to put their lives on the line for the freedom of a foreign nation, but to expect anything less than the people of that nation to do the same.

Did George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Ben Franklin send their families to France during the Revolution?

Posted by GWS at 8:53 PM on September 4

It never fails: we go into another country, generally on the pretext to “save” them in the name of Freedom and Democracy, blah, blah. Yeah, sure. Right! Then, next thing, we’re bringing thousands of them back here as immigrants. No, make that hundreds of thousands. The immigrant well never runs dry.

Cheap labor for the industrialists. Grateful voters for the politicians. More consumers for the retailers. More multi-cultural “vibrancy” for the majority haters. More souls to save for the religious fanatics. More feel-good altruism for the do-gooders who want to feel holy and virtuous.

Hey everyone wins — except the majority of white people. Well, what the heck - we don’t count anyway.

Seems like half of these refugees end up in my adult education class, and I know them well. A more conniving, corner-cutting bunch of characters would be hard to imagine. They seem to think that demanding things from me assertively and lying through their teeth will earn them a good grade. I’m convinced that Saddam Hussein was probably the only person in the world who really knew how to handle them effectively, or at least to get them to sit down and shut up.

That said, they appear to value education and possess more general knowledge about things than the average product of the American education system. They run circles around hispanic students as far as acquiring English skills and learning to write effectively. And one of the first things they learn in their community is to stay away from blacks whenever possible.

Guess that’s better than trying to teach a bunch of deadheads in baggy pants sleeping at their desks or playing rap music on their i-pods in class!

Soldiers commit the ultimate sacrifice not for foreign policy objectives, but to ensure their genetic kin thrive back at the home front.

To admit Iraqis, whose descendants will displace those of the brave fallen soldiers, is to commit an indignity to the dead.

“…but remains on pace to meet the Bush administration’s goal

Great. Chances are they’ll flood California with these boat people just like they did the Vietnamese, Hmong, Armenians, Somalis, illegals, Chinese, Pakistanis, Iranians and Indians. Oh, Joy.

It’s almost as if our government is trolling the planet, looking for the worst people it can find to bring here to destroy us. The more foreign, the more unassimilable, the more breed-happy, the better. These people are ammunition in our government’s war against us.

Posted by HideouslyWhite at 10:15 PM on September 4

Are these refugees Christian or Moslem? There is a difference. The MSM never mentions the religion. If they are moslem, don’t let them in. If they are christian give them weapons and training and tell them to fight for their land.

Posted by flyingtiger at 12:38 AM on September 5

Hasnt anyone learned anything about the muslim mindset?
After 10,000 carbombs, millions of fanatics, mobs chanting Death to America…in every muslim country.
Havent we learned..the muslim mind does NOT change, it is always a timebomb waiting to go off. They have a bad day, their eyes fall on certain passages from the Koran about killing infidels for Allah..and they become a jihadist. Why cant we admit the truth…races arent the same, America cannot be everything to everyone…please God let the madness stop!

“At least they are caucasians and should be respected as such by everyone racially aware. Keeping in mind some caucasians are best respected from a distance.”

They may be caucasians, but they sure as hell aren’t whites. This is why those forms requiring a checkmark in the boxes signifying race list “White” as an option and not caucasian. Caucasians are middle-easterners and Pakistanis and as such are certainly not people worthy of respect…

I would mention here that most of the identifiable suicide bombers, and those attempting to bring in explosives and such into American camps are not, in general, Iraqis. They have been predominantly Saudi, Syrian, Kuwaiti and Yemeni with some Iranians thrown in. Those that are among the Iraqis killing other Iraqis are, admittedly, Iraqis and that amounts to tribal get evenship and any Americans appear to be killed coincidentally to the target. We should have invaded Saudi but then, most of us here know that already.

Posted by Skip at 11:23 AM on September 5

This is what happens when you invade another country people. You get BLOWBACK. It takes many forms. This is one of them. This is why you should not invade other countries. We saw the same fiasco with southeast Asians.

Posted by at 12:45 PM on September 5

We have no moral obligation to these people. If we ever did, the 4000 plus Americans who have died liberating their country have satisfied that “obligation.”

Posted by Frank at 2:42 PM on September 5

I have not done any DNA tests, but judging from the phenotypes I’ve seen here over the last three years, I’d say very few Iraqis could even remotely be considered caucasians.

That being the case, whether or not they are Christian is irrelevant. In fact, a good many of them are Christians because they have become a genuinely persecuted minority since the fall of Big S. He was, like Tito, a great multicultural enforcer.

It will take another totalitarian dictator to maintain the Country we today call Iraq. I figure to see it balkanize when the U.S. declares vistory and pulls out. The waves of “refugees” will roll in for several more years….

Posted by mic at 2:53 PM on September 5

If they’re Christian they are not going to be any more of a problem than any other immigrant group. They will assimilate better than most of the “Christian” Mexicans, Haitians, and so forth.
If they’re Muslim, I am not eager to admit them unless their lives are in danger on account of helping us.

“To admit Iraqis, whose descendants will displace those of the brave fallen soldiers, is to commit an indignity to the dead.”

Sounds like there’s a job to do for are some white american boys all on their own so they can keep themselves from being ‘displaced’.

Posted by at 5:21 PM on September 5

And they will increase in size the voting block that is voting for the complete racial dispossession of Native Born White Americans.

Posted by Jupiter at 5:58 PM on September 5

Only 3% of Iraqis were Christians. The % of Christians in this group is vastly higher than that, but I don’t know if they are a majority. Iraqi Assyrian Christians are really cool people. Very traditional, conservative, family-oriented, and don’t create any problems at all. We have some of them here in California. And the women can be really beautiful. Assyrians are basically just White people phenotypically. Armenians and Iranians are cool too. They’re both pure Whites also. We have lots of both of those here in California.

Posted by Robert Lindsay at 6:38 PM on September 5

Agreed, Flyingtiger. I have no problem with Christian Iraqis, but by bringing them in en masse we are in effect assisting the Shiites with their religious cleansing (i.e., making it permanent). You could even say that by refusing to help them in Iraq, and by instead airlifting them out, we are encouraging anti-Christian violence in Iraq.

If we had no presence in Iraq, it would be a more complex issue, but with 140,000 American troops present there is no excuse for this.

Christians were safe and protected in Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s rule. They did well and some of them held high political office. For example Iraq’s foreign minister, Tariq Aziz, was a Christian. Now five years after the U.S. invasion, the Christian community in Iraq has all but disintegrated. Just one more reason why the invasion was wrong and a terrible mistake. Does anyone here think Saudi Arabia would have a Christian as one of its senior government ministers?

Posted by at 11:51 PM on September 5

“Christians were safe and protected in Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s rule.”

Saddam Hussein believed in Saddam Hussein. He didn’t seem to believe in any God. I’m not sure how this makes him someone to endorse for religious reasons at all.

Washington allows Islamic terrorists to kill Americans with impunity because our members of congress are bribed to give these Islamic madmen a free pass. As proof I give you 9/11 and the government of Saudi Arabia.

Domestic acts of terrorism provide Washington with additional pretexts they can use to continue bulldozing our Bill of Rights in the name of national security.

The treasonous members of today’s Congress are the worst terrorists Americans have ever faced in the history of this nation…

Reply to 9:47 AM:

I wasn’t “endorsing” anybody. Did you even UNDERSTAND my post? I was merely noting that Christians were a lot better off pre-U.S. invasion then they are now.

“not worthy of respect”…
Midle easterners produce agriculture, urban life, states and empires,…the great religions, Judaism, Christianism, Islamism,…the first law codes, math, astronomy,…Empires raise and fall thousand of years until the first citys appeared in Europe(a Semitic word meaning “WEST”). First than China, Egipt, Olmecs or anibody else…And are not “White”? Are you a Afrocentrist?
And what is “white”? Are the average south european more close to a Sweden than to a Lebanese, for instance?
Which traces have the “white”? - If north Germans, tall, long head, “pinky” skin, blond hair, blue eyes, etc…are “the Whites”, so it means that south Germans, shorter with round head, brown hair and eyes, darker skin, are not? And not speak in Iberians or Russians…
Understand that White is not a race, but racial group, some darker, some lighter. It´s why, Caucasian is a good word.

What the use of invading a country implementing democracy and then saying
“Its not safe there” Refugees should only be classified if the regime of the country persecutes you. There are some neighbourhoods that are not safe for me.Does that make me a refugee.

Never lose sight of the fact that our congress has done more damage to our Bill of Rights, culture, manufacturing capability, middle-class prosperity, employment opportunities and economy that any foreign enemy or terrorist group in the history of our nation.

This treachery has been, and is, an ongoing bipartisan effort and they will not stop until they have turned America into an impoverished totalitarian Spanish-speaking third-world banana republic.

If this is the future you want for your children and grandchildren then continue being mesmerized by television and stupefied by medications and alcohol. And if not then accept the fact that you will have to tread the same path as our original Minutemen, so wake up and make ready. Our Constitution, history and the Almighty is on our side…

——-
I only disagree with you on the point of “Spanish-speaking.”
I don’t think it will be that neat and simple. I think that the true Powers-That-Be would really prefer to have a multi-lingual babel of many races, nations, and religions. The more the better! And certainly it’s heading exactly in that direction.
Their dream is coming true. But it may turn out to be their nightmare.

The Assyrian Christian community , which has existing for 2,000 years is being obliterated as a consequence of the smirking chimps action. These people are being persecuted and slaughter by both main factions of the religion of peace,as well as by the
Kurds. Our armed forces are not preventing this, and when the refrain “the surge is working” is broadcast as a talisman to silence critics, be assured that it is a lie. The refugee’s being let in to the USA from Iraq are religion of peacers.
The chimp may be allowing the construction of a SINGLE barrier border fence,(he may have needed to save money for his fleet of Agosta presidential helicopters , being built in ITALY to the tune of SEVEN BILLION) but he is accomplishing stealth amnesty. A few of his recents schemes have been: incorporaying the Mariana’s Islands in an economic union, which has led to chinese women visiting to pop out an anchor baby in Saipan. Laura Bush visiting a cambodian refugee camp in Thailand on thbe olympic trip, and we will now be accepting primitive Cambodians; who happened to be hit with a tifdal wave. maybe to keep the hmong company. We are getting Hutu Burundians who have been in Tanzania for 30 years but, could not quite fit in. And, of course having Aids is no longer an impediment to immigrating to the USA, thanks to the chimp. And after promising a billion in aid to Georgia, we can assume that we will be getting some added diversity from there too. They will join all the other groups that are milking us dry, and ruining the country. Ask your candidates just what is the total number of people they view as ideal for this nation. To me it appears that the political class is selling the country out by offering free gangway into our country, but the country is not theirs to sell. (a la martin sheen , i have room in my heart, but not in my house , for the homeless)

1:50 AM: I don’t believe corporate America wants a mega-lingual Tower of Babble because that would require them to print labels, warranty forms, rebate forms, owners manuals, etc in more than the two or three languages they do now. This extra printing, as well as the extra foreign language support staff required, would cost them more money. Everything with these traitors today is all about “cost savings” and “cost avoidance”, since mega-immigration isn’t growing their domestic market shares anywhere near as dynamically as they had projected…
