Jury Says Osteen Did Not Assault Flight Attendant

The wife of televangelist Joel Osteen did not assault a flight attendant during an angry tirade over a stain on her first-class seat, a jury ruled Thursday.
Jurors rejected Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown’s claims that Victoria Osteen threw her against a bathroom door and elbowed her in the left breast while attempting to rush the cockpit because she was angry that a stain on her seat’s armrest was not quickly cleaned up.

Brown was suing for at least $405,000 for physical and mental pain suffered as a result of the attack she alleged had occurred before takeoff aboard a December 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo.

Victoria Osteen and her husband, who also was aboard the flight, testified that the alleged assault never happened. Three first-class passengers and a pilot aboard testified Wednesday they never saw or heard anything that indicated Victoria Osteen assaulted Brown.
Another flight attendant, Maria Johnson, supported Brown’s claims. Both flight attendants testified they had to block the cockpit door to prevent Victoria Osteen from getting inside.
Brown’s side earlier sought an apology and punitive damages amounting to 10 percent of Victoria Osteen’s net worth as part of her lawsuit. {snip}
Victoria Osteen told jurors she went up to Brown after no one helped her clean up the spill. She said it was Brown who became angry during their discussion. Victoria Osteen denied ever touching Brown or trying to get into the cockpit.

Claudia Hall, a former Continental flight attendant, testified by video deposition she was falsely accused by Brown of hitting and pushing her into the bathroom wall of a plane in November 1995.

For those that don’t know, this flight attendant also claimed the confrontation with Osteen gave her hemorrhoids. Not kidding.
I watched the video of Brown walking into the courtroom for this trial, and she practically pranced in on the arms of three of her friends, smiling for reporters with her nose in the air the whole time. She acted like she was up for Best Actress at the Academy Awards or something - it was obvious that she was soaking up the attention.
She may not have gotten the $400k she was after, but Brown certainly enjoyed the trial anyway; she got tons of attention and trashed a white woman’s reputation with impunity! It’s infuriating that this dishonest narcissistic woman can take her shot at the ghetto lottery (frivolous lawsuit) and not even risk being fined or having to repay Osteen’s legal expenses.

I remember the news accounts. She claimed to have developed hemmorhoids due to this altercation. (snicker) $405,000 , that must really have been a terrible pain. Well, she could always say she was raped by the Duke lacrosse team. It is just as believeable as her suit. When will blacks be held accountable for all these false charges? Since Brown already has a track record for this kind of thing, when will the airlines fire her? Actually, Brown and Johnson are both guilty of lying about the whole thing. You would think the airlines would fire both of them before they cause them anymore trouble.

If there is a group of people NOT suited for work as flight attendants it is black women. You get the same type of customer service from black flight attendants as you do from black McDonald’s clerks. Because it is a ‘glamorous’ job associated with attractive white women, black women have forced there way in.
There are two institutions in America where blacks should undeniably be barred from employment. Disney World and commercial airlines.

Now for step two. The Osteens need to sue this black[rhymes with witch] all the way back to the ghetto. EVERY TIME a White is falsely accused of ANYTHING by blacks, they need to sue them for as much as they can. I think that would put end to alot of these “ghetto lotteries.” By the way, thanks sister “Jill at 6:19,” for coming up with “ghetto lottery.” That’s exactly what this is.

I would say this racial extortionist needs to be fired from whatever airline she works for, but this airline is probably afraid she will file a discrimination lawsuit against them…and win this time.

Great God Almighty! Can one imagine how efficiently things would run in the country if there were no blacks?
Any white run business has to make the determination whether the risk of being held hostage by a black employee is worth the return of being recognized as progressive, politically correct, and in compliance. Always walking on egg shells and living in constant fear - whitey did it to himself!

I don’t know (or care) what’s the truth in this case, but given the parties involved here, I have no sympathy with EITHER side.
I do note, however, that the wife of a “preacher” has millions and can afford to travel First Class. Who’s the real scammer here? Nice work if you can get it!

I would normally tend to agree, but this airline attendant atempted to extort a white person soley on the basis of her race and apparent wealth. Extortion whould NEVER be rewarded whether attempted through the courts or in a more criminal manner. According to the article, she has tried this before, so she is not particulary good at it. You can be sure Ms. Brown will be heard from again. She won’t quit till she wins something. Ghetto Lottery—how true.

I think she needs to be fired by her airline for harassing passengers and filing false complaints against passengers. Mistreating and harassing customers are sufficient grounds for firing I think by any company.
Oh, and she and her attorney can be counter-sued for malicious prosecution. Her attorney should be reported to the bar for violating Rule 11—filing an action not based on fact nor warranted by law. I think she probably has no medical records to prove any assault.
The Osteens have enough money to turn the tables on her now.

This is the jesse jackson mentality that permeates the black race, that it is easier to sue than to work. Katrina had barely left New Orleans when the screams of racism began, “give me this, give me that”, and the classic “if I we’re white…..” the reason so few blacks left N.O. ahead of the hurricane was that they were gearing up for the aftermath, all the while knowing that the real wind was going to be the windfall they would take the gov’t for. My first experience with this black mentality was in san francisco 25 years ago, a near empty MUNI bus rear ended a car, and out of nowhere a swarn of 15-20 blacks pushed their way through the back door of the bus. At first I was puzzled, then I realized, city bus= deep pockets. So thanks to the enterprizing jesse jackson, scamming and hustling and extorting have become the blackman’s prefered way to “earn” a living

The Osteen’s money is from their books; they’ve written several best sellers. They refuse to take a salary from their church since they don’t need the money - does that sound like a scammer??

I just returned from a long vacation in an all-white part of the midwest. It felt amazing!! Even the music was white - almost all the music playing from cars, boats or restaurant speakers was either country music or classical. We left our cabin and car doors unlocked and had great service everywhere we went. I didn’t hear “Ebonics” or a single non-English word the whole time! No litter, no graffiti, no police sirens, no “multicultural” commotion in restaurants or movie theaters…
After a few days of blissful all-white Americana, my husband and I started seriously discussing moving away from Northern Virginia/Washington DC Metro Area for the first time. Although we’d miss our families, life is so much easier and more pleasant in an all-white area!!
Does anyone know if there are high-tech jobs available in Idaho, Wyoming or Montana? Are there large parts of Oregon, Washington (state) or Colorado that are all-white and not too liberal?

The Osteens should initiate a counter suit for defamation of character and to recover court costs from the first trial. They should also claim they were targeted because the flight attendant didn’t like white people. Why don’t lowly blacks bring false charges against rich and famous blacks? Whites need to start getting radical and playing the race card like every other group in these disunited states of America.

I am a very old lady. I remember when flight attendants (stewardesses!) had to look sharp and be beautifully mannered. I never would have worried about getting sued by one.

Won’t happen. The Osteens advertise their church as a glorious multicultural house of worship. They’d fear that any counter suit on their part would only alienate their black congregation. Instead, they will “turn the other cheek”, in true modern day christian fashion.

I am a flight attendant for Continental and although having never met Sharon Brown I have run into fellow crew members who have. She has been described as, lazy, rude to pax and fellow crew members, always looking for a fight, and one even said if anyone is a racist, its Sharon Brown. I for am glad the jury saw through her lies and gave her exactly what she deserved…nothing! This is the type of employee who is an insult to all the hard working employees of CO who truely try and make the company number one. I haven’t heard if she got fired but I would love to see that one happen. What gulls me to no end is when I hired on in 1976 the company screened you good. Now being larger clowns like Sharon Brown always manage to slip through the cracks and obtain employment.
