Scheduled to be unveiled next week, it was announced Sunday by Julie Myers, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in an interview with a Spanish-language television network.
Myers told the network that “Operation Scheduled Departure” will allow illegal immigrants without criminal records a chance to literally “self-deport” by turning themselves in to her agents.
She said the idea derived from a common complaint voiced by immigrant detainees: If given the opportunity, they’d rather just go home than be holed up in immigration prisons.
Under the new program, those still walking free will have the chance to walk into ICE offices, be processed and get a few weeks to arrange their affairs, pack their belongings and ship out of the country without being detained.

Myers said the program would allow immigrants to avoid the increasing risks of being picked up in a raid at home or at work, but would offer no additional incentives to turn themselves in—no chance at qualifying for an amnesty, for example.

Proposal met with scorn
Immigrant advocates called it a laughable charade with little to no chance of succeeding without any carrots to offer self-deportees.

If people truly wanted to leave on their own, they’d buy their own bus or plane ticket home without checking in with ICE first, Rivlin [Doug Rivlin, National Immigration Forum] said.
Ira Mehlman, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, the country’s largest anti-illegal-immigration lobby group based in Washington, said he’d have to concede that point.
The government would have to offer some kind of incentive to entice immigrants to sign up, such as telling them that by leaving voluntarily they would be allowed to apply to come back legally, Mehlman said.

While it remains to be seen whether the idea works for ICE, another federal agency that came up with the idea three years ago claims it has worked well.
“Fugitive Safe Surrender” offers non-violent criminals with arrest warrants a chance to give themselves up to the U.S. Marshals Service instead of being hunted down. So far more than 16,000 have accepted the offer.

The debate over the illegal alien invasion has already happened. The American people have stated loud and clear that they want all illegal aliens deported and not rewarded. Those who do not want illegal aliens deported, including some elected politicians, racist separatist hate groups (MALDEF, LULAC, MEChA, the National Council of the Race, etc), the media and elitists like Bill O’Reilly continually tell us that we can’t “ROUND UP” twenty million people. The term “round up” is inflammatory and is used to make us seem barbaric or less than human and discourage us from doing what must be done to save America. The truth of the matter is, we don’t have to “round up” anybody. What we have to do is make existence in this country extremely hostile to those here illegally and guess what? They will leave! Make it where they can’t buy or sell, can’t rent, can’t drive, can’t work, can’t medicate, educate or incarcerate! Do these things and THEY WILL LEAVE!!! Having said that, I offer, to MY country, a humble plan to rid us of this huge burden. This plan is based on common sense, THE LAW and a will to do it. It goes like this:
Congress shall declare a 90 day amnesty for ALL illegal aliens. During that period NO status adjustments will be made. Zero! For 90 days illegal aliens will have the opportunity to dispose of any accumulated assets, both real and personal. Bought a house? Sell it! Bought a car? Sell it! Got a dog, give it away! They will have three months to settle their affairs and sever all ties to this country. At the end of the amnesty period, on day 91, ANY illegal alien still here will be considered a federal, felony fugitive and will be arrested and jailed. One year the first time. FIVE years the second time and TEN years the third time. We will build a tent prison in the California/Arizona desert and expand it as needed. Once jailed, all assets will be seized and sold at auction. All proceeds will be used to incarcerate said illegal aliens. These stipulations will apply to anyone who entered the country illegally OR any visa overstay of one day or more.
ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN CAUGHT IN THE UNITED STATES AFTER THE AMNESTY PERIOD HAS EXPIRED WILL BE BANNED FROM THE COUNTRY FOR LIFE!
On day 91, ANY employer who hires an illegal alien fugitive will be jailed. One year for the first offense, FIVE years for the second and TEN years for the third. These laws and penalties will also apply to any bank lending money to illegal aliens and anyone giving them aid and shelter, including churches.
American born children of illegal aliens will be placed in jeopardy by the actions of their parents. Since the American people had no hand in those actions, the responsibility for the care of those children will be that of their parents. If they self-deport, they have the option to take the kids with them or leave them here with an adult of their choice. If the parent is incarcerated as an illegal alien fugitive, they have the option of placing the children with an adult of their choice or making them wards of the federal government and placed in an institution until their release.
These measures are hard but they are fair and are needed to assure the survival of this once great country. They apply to anyone in the country illegally regardless of race, creed, color, height, weight, age, sex or national origin.

This “problem” lacks only for solvers, not for solutions. The “problem” is that the government and corporate “America” DON’T WANT TO SOLVE the “problem.” The “problem” the press talks about is a smokescreen; an obvious one.
If they did want to solve the “problem,” they could do so for very little money or effort:
1.) Legislate DRACONIAN (financial ruin - think in terms of percentages (50, 75, 90) of assets, rather than set fines) penalties for employing people without proper paperwork.
2.) Divert a small amount of money and manpower toward enforcement; employing illegal aliens becomes a reverse lottery; you probably won’t get caught, but if you do, you’re RUINED.
3.) Watch all the unemployable aliens leave for greener pastures.

I have a better solution. Come down hard on greedy white american employers who hire illegals for slave wage labor. Get rid of the anchor baby provisions and cut off any welfare benefits. Then, the illegals will deport themselves. Anything else is nonsense.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare most immigrants from Latin America with black Americans. First of all, people from Argentina, Uruguay and Chile are first-world Europeans, mostly Italians and Spanish, and would be an asset to any country. Second of all, most of the other immigrants from Peru and Ecuador just want to work and get out of their toilet-bowl societies and live in the First World. Many Mexicans want to be Americans even though there are those, who want to spit on America, usually the spoiled Mexican intellectual type with a hot tamale between their ears, and a job in academia. Most of the chaos of immigration comes from the rich liberals needing maids and cooks, and businesses looking for wage slaves. Yet, in reality, the crux of the immigration problem comes because people don’t want to hire blacks. It is as simple as that. Blacks are market poison because of attitude and because of the threat of discrimination cases. Even the college educated, upper level black is considered an liability by many businesses, apt to cause trouble with an attitude problem and prone to use excuses when questioned about work output.

New? This isn’t new. President Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetb**k” in the 1950s resulted in most illegal aliens here deporting themselves and willingly.

This is amnesty in the proper meaning of that word.
Very much like amesty for thieves that would spare them from prosecution as long as they returned the stolen goods.
The last year’s “legalization” attempt by the U.S. Senate was much more than an amnesty. It was like saying to the thieves: “We will not prosecute you as long as you come out the shadows, admit your cirmes, and pay a fine. By the way, if you do that, you can keep the property you stole, and the government will initiate process to allow you to obtain a formal title to that stolen property” (the so-called “path to citizenship”).
If an amnesty has to be awarded to illegal aliens, the one mentioned in this article (a chance for self-deprtation, that is) is the only one that is acceptable.

When I lived in Australia in 1997-1998, I was astonished that Malaysia had a problem with illegal aliens coming in from Indonesia. From what I could tell, both groups speak Malay. Both are racially southeast Asians. Both are mostly Muslim. In spite of these ethnic, racial and religious ties, the Malaysian government’s enforcement policies was extremely nasty about the illegals, and guess what? It worked.
Malaysia also executed a pair of Australian heroin-smugglers, I think by hanging. When the Australian government complained, they said “Send us some more.” Enforcement of that law also seems to work. The recidivism rate can’t be much higher than zero, anyway.
I suspect what we are seeing is the end of the left’s ability to get away with the lie that immigration enforcement is impossible. I predict that they will increasingly fall back to Plan Two, which will mean a massive pity pitch for the criminal invaders who drive drunk without insurance or licenses down our roads, bankrupt our hospitals with frivolous emergency room visits, and expect us to pay to have their children educated in their own language instead of ours.
Aztlan? If one goes back far enough, it is obvious who really owns it. They speak English. They’re Apache, Hopi, Pima, Navajo and Ute, and not Spanish-speaking Aztec invaders.

Mexico’s economy is permanently improving (how many Mexicans from today onwards can’t afford food or even TV?), and ours is going towards a recession. So the immigration problem may be permanently solved economically!

Am I missing something here? they have to sign up to leave? Why are we concerned about that? Makes you realize how brilliant our border enforcement agencies are. If you see them going south let them alone. If they are traveling north stop them. They also need to note if they are walking backward, since this could confuse our super smart agents.

I was watching the news yesterday and seen a bunch of pro illegal alien activists in the faces of some Minutemen in San Francisco. This is what our traitorous politicians have done to us Americans. They should have taken care of the illegal alien problem for us. Instead, hard working tax payers have to join the Minutemen to get anything done.

Now that I have picked myself off of the ground from hysterical laughter at the thought of illegal aliens deporting themselves, I just have one thought. Why by all that’s rational, that’s true, would any groups of people deport themselves from having entered what can only be called the “PROMISED LAND”. I know I don’t have to elaborate on this comment for the folks on this forum.

Actually, there is so much evidence that caucasians were here in North and South America thousands of years before the “Native Americans”. It is true, look up The Kennewick Man. A 10,000 year old skeleton hidden by the government. We are being robbed of our lands here……

So true. Many years ago when I worked in NYC there was a Black woman at my firm who wasn’t measuring up and they tried to let her go. She screamed discrimination and threatened to go to the NAACP, Office of Equal Opportunity, Jesse Jackson, blah, blah blah. So the compay had to hire somebody to go through her work with a fine tooth comb and document every single error she had made. So, it cost them a pretty penny to get rid of her.
By the way, this firm was not heavy handed. In these situations they would usually talk to the person, say it’s not working out, you can stay on for a month, and if you need to take some time off here and there for a job interview, feel free.
It’s much easier to fire a White person than a Black person.
