Illegal Immigrants Face Threat of No College

In the past two years, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma have refused in-state tuition benefits to students who entered the USA illegally with their parents but grew up and went to school in the state. That represents a reversal from earlier this decade, when 10 states passed laws allowing in-state rates for such students.
This summer, South Carolina became the first state to bar undocumented students from all public colleges and universities.
North Carolina’s community colleges in May ordered its 58 campuses to stop enrolling undocumented students after the state attorney general said admitting them may violate federal law.

Georgia, which barred undocumented students from in-state tuition rates in 2006, enacted laws in May preventing them from receiving state scholarships and certain student loans.
This fall, the University of Arkansas will require students to submit Social Security numbers and proof of residency. In May, Arkansas Department of Higher Education Director Jim Purcell warned that students without documentation “will not be considered as legally enrolled students” when determining an institution’s state funding.

“recieving state scholarships and certain loans”
Ah-hah! Let me put my finger on it if I can. Illegal aliens are by their very nature, poor. It follows then that not only will they need access to higher education to address inequalities but to funds to pay for that College education. I`m seeing tuition paid for by some and given free to others… Ask yourself, which category is my kid or me in?

They’re not here to go to college. They’re here to pick vegetables and work as janitors and maids - doing jobs Americans “won’t do” (or won’t do at Third-World wages).
Surely there are universities in Mexico and Guatemala.
Cry me a river.

No college! Oh no! Honestly, what did they expect. Is it my right to have in state tuition in Wisconsin if my parents are legally residents of Illinois? Or is that only if my parents cross the Illinois-Wisconsin border to do jobs Cheeseheads won’t do?

They need to be barred. Not only are they not entitled to take advantage of the benefits allowed to state residents, they are not eligible for federal student aid. As a result, they will be billed for full payment of tuition, which they will not pay. The end result is less bad debt for the state colleges.

The idea of restricting illegal immigrants from attending public funded institutions is important for discouraging more illegal immigration.
However, if and when Obama gets elected he will try to grant permanent residency to the millions who are already here. When that happens, all of these other efforts will have been in vain. The result will be the same - millions of previously illegal immigrants will now be able to enter the colleges and universities, all at mainly white taxpayers’ expense.
That means that it will be imperative for voters to oppose any amnesty programs that Obama and the liberals and traitors will try to enact.

This situation will change dramatically in the illegal immigrant’s favor after the election and more Democrats are voted in.
Next year will see us again deteriorating at a more rapid level once McAmnesty or Comrad Obama Hessein is installed as Big Brother.

Forget the in-state tuition nonsense, they are foreign nationals and should only be admitted with the usual student visa…..like EVERYBODY ELSE. No matter where you go to grammar school, you need a visa to attend college in the USA if you are a foreign national. Makes no difference whether you are from Russia or China or Mexico.

It seems obvious that the attitudes on illegal immigration are changing. The states are being forced to address the illegal immigration issue because Bush has basically refused to perform his constitutional duty to protect our borders from the illegal invasion. Some states are caught in a situation where they have an overwhelmingly successful initiative addressing some aspect of illegal immigration only to have it overturned by a court on the basis that the feds have exclusive jurisdiction over immigration. Bush’s inaction has created chaos in the country and has allowed radical groups like the Reconquista movement to openly pursue their goal of “retaking” America’s southwest for Mexico. Well known politicians in California are proud members of some of these radical groups.

You get the feeling that this change comes from budgetary pressures, not from any sense of obligation to enforce the law.

If they can produce state income tax receipts, I say give them in-state tuition. If not, then no way.

It’s ridiculous that American taxpayers subsidize the college education of illegal aliens.
The supposed economic benefit of illegal immigrants is alrady outweighed by higher crime rate, poorer schools, out-of-wedlock births by Hispanic girls, healthcare and other social costs. White upper and upper-middle class whites benefit, the middle and working-class whites are bearing the brunt of the burden.
Tell the illegals to leave their kids back in Mexico with their relatives. The U.S. should not provide free-and-reduced college education for the illegals. One problem is that the illegals would cost more on average than legal American kids: the dropout and student-loan-default rates are much higher for Hispanic kids, so the tax dollars tend to get more wasted on the Hispanic kids.

Until about 5 years ago my home in South Carolina had NO hispanic illegals (none known to us anyway) when I left for Iraq in Dec ‘03 (I’m still here) there were literally thousands of them everywhere. South Carolina has no enforcement in place to deal with them so unless laws were being broken the police left them alone. I am guessing that is still the case as my wife has made no mention of any trouble from them.

American kids do NOT get in-state tuition and have to jump thru hoops to get it.
Illegals automatically get it.
Discrimination.

What is it about the word “ILLEGAL” that is so hard to understand? Obviously they will have to make the use of that word illegal, as they already have in San Fran Freako, during the 4th of July, where if you called in to report an incident of {undocumented} fireworks, and said [illegal fireworks] you would be arrested for offending, you guessed it, “illegals”. I fear it will soon be too late to stop the insanity being promoted by the left.

How do people get admitted to schools without an SSN? I don’t get it. Does anyone know? If you’ve never worked, you don’t have an ITIN. What do they use instead?

Sometimes I think our public officials should be arrested as accessories after the fact in the crime of violating our immigration laws. First, they give illegals a publicly funded education through high school. Then they propose to top that off with more taxpayer money giving them a college education. The purpose of this? To prepare the illegals for jobs it is against the law to hire them for. And we wonder why respect for the law is low in contemporary America.

Hey, everybody remember 911. I thought out Commander and Chief cleaned up the mess with student visas. Oh that is right, these cheaters never got a visa. Silly me.

Just as quality of housing, clothing, personal effects should be a priviledge based upon the market place, so should education.
If one cannot afford, so be it.
Like Frank Sinatra sang back in the 60s…
“that’s life”

You are right Hugo. Why get a VISA when you can just use someone else’s SSN to apply and gain entrance to college?
This actually happened where I once worked. An hispanic applied for school, attended for a while and dropped out. When presented a bill for the tuition, the student refused to pay. Reason given: “I am here illegally and you should not have let me sign up for classes.”
Their arrogance is unbelievable. They act fraudulently to gain admittance and then use their illegal status as a way to avoid responsibility.
Yep, those hispanic family values sure don’t stop at the border.

Illegal aliens should not be allowed to attend State Universities. A seat at a State university is a scarce resource. A White youth shouldn’t have to compete with an illegal alien for a seat at State University. This is more fundamental than the in-state tuition issue.
