Legislation proposing the move received final congressional approval late on Thursday when the Senate unanimously passed it on a voice vote. The House of Representatives approved it on May 8.
It removes the “terrorist” label and travel restrictions imposed on Mandela and other cadres from the African National Congress, which fought to end white minority rule in South Africa. The ANC was banned by South Africa’s apartheid government in 1960.

Mandela, who retired from politics nine years ago, has become a worldwide symbol of freedom. US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice has called the US travel restrictions on Mandela and the ANC “embarrassing” and urged an end them.
Stricter security measures passed by Congress after the 9/11 attacks against the US kept the ANC’s terrorist label because it used armed force as part of its campaign against apartheid.

His achievements in the struggle against apartheid were more presentational than actual.
He’s an affable old fraud enjoying his media driven celebrity before he kicks the bucket.
Give him the congressional medal and a green card.

Yes honour this terrorist. It won’t shock me if you remove Bin Laden’s terrorist label. Bin Laden, like Mandela were also more presentational than actual in his actions in what he sees as his fair struggle against American injustice. It’s sad to see how spineless your once proud nation have become.

Another nail in the ” coffin ” of our non-credible, non-constitutional, anti-white , anti-Christian America. Time to segregate to avoid any more genocidal crimes and save ourselves. We need new ” Founding Fathers ” again.

It matters not what his name tag says, he is a black racist terrorist. History always repeats it’s self, remember the rise and fall of the Roman empire. The Roman Senate screwed over the Roman people, and distracted them by feeding Christians to the lions, for their sadistic enjoyment, while ours are entertaining our populace with sporting events, and filthy movies, anything to distract from the fact they are destroying our country. The average person not only doesn’t have a clue, they don’t even suspect anything.

Well, I heard he knocked violent criminal supermodel Naomi Campbell off of his London celebration event. She was too much for him.

Whatever is said now, Mandela was jailed for terrorism and it is known he even approved bombings from jail. If the South African government of that day had been black, he would have been hung. The whole scenario is a text-book presentation of Marxist propaganda changing the facts.

I’m sick to death of hearing about this failed old car-bomber.

Not only is Mandela no longer a terrorist, but it’s apparently impossible to even define what a “terrorist” is. That’s the impression I got from my local newspaper’s coverage of this story (probably from the AP). The headline proclaimed “US declares Mandela no longer a ‘terrorist.’” Really, what is with the scare quotes? Oh, I see, it was apparently unbelievable that he was even considered a terrorist in the first place. Just goes to show the bias that can be inserted into an article or even a headline just through the use of quote marks. Of course, the article could just have easily have expressed it thusly: “US declares Mandela ‘no longer’ a terrorist.” Then the implication would be that just because Congress declares something that magically makes it so. But don’t expect to see that “spin” from the leftist media.

What, he was on a terror list? I would never had thought that, especially since Afrikaners were some of the favourite TV villains of the 80’s. As far as I know, no westerners had any sympathy for either Rhodesia or South Africa, back then. Not that I’m claiming that either of the two white regimes were “a priori” something to celebrate, but if people can show some understanding for the measures Asian and African regimes take, to keep their countries together, these two regimes should at least be given the same benefit of doubt. Of course, most people on this site, already know this…

The families of 19 innocent people that Mandelas, Pretoria train station bomb killed, must be very happy.
While the last two countries in Africa implode, Zimbabwe & South Africa, under the leader ship of, first Mandela, Mbekie & Mugabe. What a proud day for the totally misguided moronic liberals of the world, what a sad day to realize that the US secretary of state & the spinless senate majority actually have no clue either.

Sharpsville Massacre? Steve Biko? What terrorists were responsible there? Not to say Mandela isn’t a terrorist, but in this world, who isn’t?

“Sharpsville Massacre? Steve Biko?” Posted by at 6:57 PM on July 1.
Indeed the misinformed liberals love to quote Sharpeville, where 69 blacks were shot and killed by clearly provoked and panic stricken policemen. Yet these same liberals are silent on the 34 000 whites (Much more than the white security forces ever killed over 23 years), or the 3000 farmers that have been murdered by blacks since 1994. Even if we keep race out of it, what about the hundreds of thousands of Hutus killed in Rwanda? The MSM and the liberals remain silent when it suits their agenda.

I am still on the Terrorist Watch List.
I wonder if they wonder how I know.
Thank goodness congress (a word I will never again capitalize) have their priorities straight.
