In a quiet but steady voice, a former Columbia journalism student described Friday how a stranger invaded her Manhattan apartment and raped her repeatedly.
“Please don’t hurt me! Please don’t hurt me,” the young woman said she begged the man.
He threw her on the bed and tore off her clothes.
“He started raping me,” the woman said. “I thought he was going to kill me. I thought I was going to die.”
As she told her horrific tale, her frightened brown eyes darted over to the defense table where 31-year-old Robert Williams should have been sitting.

Dressed in a beige dress, she traced the outlines of her life before Assistant District Attorney Ann Prunty led her up to April 13, 2007—the day her world was shattered forever.
Then 23, she said no alarm bells went off when she spotted the stranger in the elevator. She noticed he had a suitcase with rollers. But it was only after she got off—and heard the squeaking of the rollers—that she got nervous.

When Prunty asked her if she tried to fight back, the young woman said she did “in the beginning.”
“I wanted to survive,” she said. “So I did what he told me to.”
The victim testified for only an hour and will return to the stand on Monday.

The ex-con accused of raping and torturing a Columbia journalism student chickened out Friday and refused to show up for his trial.
Robert Williams’ decision spared the scarred young woman from having to confront the man who allegedly held her captive for 19 hours, tried to blind her with bleach—and carved up her face with a butcher knife.

Berkman [Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Carol Berkman] ordered the trial to continue and the victim, who was 23 when she was attacked on April 13, 2007, will take the stand this afternoon.
Her testimony comes a day after Prunty [Assistant District Attorney Ann Prunty] charged that Williams turned the victim’s Hamilton Heights apartment into a “torture chamber.”
In an account that shocked listeners and forced a veteran sketch artist to flee in tears, Prunty told the court that Williams showed the victim no mercy and “proceeded to violate her in every way imaginable, and in some ways unimaginable.”
Williams, 31, gave no indication he was even listening as he sat beside Levine [Arnold Levine, counsel for the defense]—shackled to his seat. He is charged with 71 criminal counts, including attempted murder, arson, rape and sodomy. He faces life in prison.
The ordeal left the victim with a scarred face, severe burns, and liver damage from the over-the-counter pills she was forced to swallow by the fistfull.
Prunty said the woman was burned with bleach and later ordered to stab out her own eyes with scissors. When she couldn’t do it, her attacker scalded her with boiling water, the prosecutor said.

There were more horrors. She was forced to shear off her own hair—then her face was mutilated.
“He chose a butcher knife and slowly began to slice into her face and eyelids, carving and disfiguring her face,” Prunty said.

Before fleeing, the sadist tied her to a futon frame and set it on fire. But she used the flames to melt the computer cable cords binding her hands and feet—and escaped.

Anyone who would do this to a stranger was born human by mistake.
The good news is that since he has apparently refused a plea deal, this monster will likely be convicted and sentenced on all 71 counts. The sentence he is likely to get will put him into a maximum-security custody level, which means 23-hour lockdown for the rest of his life.
I hesitated before reading this article, and I now wish I hadn’t read it. I hope the editor is able to keep that under consideration when he notices the strong language I used to describe the *thing* that committed tis aweful crime.

Vile stuff. But when you try to mention this to others, they say it’s just an ‘isolated’ incident and you can’t judge all blacks by it, then call you a racist nazi etc.
I don’t know that even the victim has any hard feelings against blacks. It would be interesting to ask her—I bet a columbia student like here would still celebrate diversity, just you watch.

So the harshest penalty for this monster is to continue his life in prison. If there was any justice in the world her family should be able to stone him to death. Something else struck me, when she said that no alarm bells went off when she saw him in the elevator. A lifetime of being exposed to leftist preachings about how blacks are always the victims and never the perpetrators no doubt led to her not acknowledging her instinct that something was wrong and she was in danger. Another victim who didn’t want to seem racist.

This monster deserves the death penalty, but we know that is “inhumane”.
Although probably a blessing for the poor victim, how was this bottom dweller allowed to “refuse” to attend his trial? He should be forced to go and face the court. He should not be allowed to call the shots when it comes to this trial.
Maybe we’ll all get lucky and he’ll die in prison, sooner than later.

How can anyone not comprehend that racial hatred was the primary motivation in such a vicious crime? The usual suspects — CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC, NBC and CBS — remain silent, although they would be salivating at the prospect of covering such a horrifyingly sensational trial were it not for the fact that this is a black-on-white crime.

Not one mention of the race of the victim in this crime so I can only assume she is white. Even if she is not I am still tremendously offended by the monstrous behavior of black rapists. I am of the opinion that the punishment should fit the crime and this animal tortured this girl for 19 hours and mutilated her for life. The punishment for him should be exactly the same as he administered to the girl, and at the end of 19 hours of torture and hell he should be terminated. These creatures are nothing less than monsters and should be treated as such.

My daughters and wife are all familiar with firearms.
My daughters are not shy about letting their schoolmates know that they know how to shoot.
Needless to say this discourages low lifes and non-whites from bothering them.

The fact that she rented an apartment in the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem proves that bells that SHOULD HAVE been going off from the very beginning, WEREN’T. The fine results of an Ivy League anti-racist education.

The terrible facts in this case appears to be in the same category as the Witchita Massacre and the Knoxville Horror. These were also black on white cases involving long term torture and rape before the commisson of several murders.
The other thing the current case has in common with the two earlier cases is the lack of press coverage and the refusal of the prosecutors to classify the cases as hate crimes.

If anyone reading this believes this criminal will get or do time, is unaware of how the prison system works. He is already institutionalized, and when he gets back to prison (IF) he will get his old cell back and the same sex partner and be happy again until he is parolled onto the unsuspecting public again. I worked in the S.C. Dept. of Corrections involved with dangerous inmate transport and I know this to be a fact.

I think the only way to draw attention to the horrendous violent black on white crimes such as this, the Wichita Massacre, the Knoxville Horror and so many others that have been ignored and spiked by the national media is to copy the article changing the victims’ identities to black,and the perpetrators’ identities to white, print the doctored article and post copies near black majority and mixed neighborhoods or local college campuses. The resulting commotion and following realisation would be an invaluable object lesson that could not be ignored.

No, it is not going unreported in the press - they are giving it quite a bit of play - but the MSM is not mentioning that this guy is Black. There have been some similar cases around Duke University of rape-murders of young White coeds. All suspects and arrestees so far have been young Black males.
It’s pretty absurd to say that this woman was psychologically disarmed by the media. Apparently he broke into her place? What was she supposed to do, run away the minute she saw the guy?

I was grad student at Columbia in the 90s, when the goal in NYC was to get the homicide rate UNDER 2000. (!!!!)
CU is set in Harlem, and despite security, it is common for black criminals to wander though academic departments stealing and assaulting people.
One neighbor, an American WWII legend, then ca 90, was clobbered on the head in the hallway. We were henceforth unable to buzz people in, had to go to the front door in person.
NB: Our building was essentially next door to the official residence of the university president, with round the clock roaming security.
Not sufficient.
At that time, you were exected to mouth the usual platitudes re race while keeping your guard up against the army of criminal blacks that plagued you where you lived and studied.
(Perversely, many privileged whites enjoy slumming, and the danger provides an adrenelin charge: I lived anpther day! I must be smart!)
Anyone who took the rhetoric seriously was in extreme danger, as we see from this story.
Note that the victim did not antagonize her attacker by treating him with suspicion - on the contrary.
Clearly, she was neither racist nor race conscious, but that did not spare her.
It is extraordinarily important to understand that while most liberals are simply hypocrites re race, protecting their social and nprofessional status by mouthing the obligatory slogans while doing everything possible to avoid underclass blacks, there are a few who actually believe what they are saying.
They are often the victims of attacks, as are European visitors to American cities.
Despite being censored by the MSM, the above story has assuredly passed by word of mouth throughout CU’s international community and far beyond.
I disagree with many things on this site, but one thing is clear:
stories like this are censored in order to minimize racial antagonism, and that is a crime.
This story should be given the same saturation coverage it would have recieved if the races had been reversed.
If a white man had done this to a black woman, it would be have been the main headline for a week on several continents.

Elitist has it right, Columbia is essentially in Harlem, and while the blacks wail and moan about how “gentrified” it is becoming and how the evil whites are stealing their neighborhood they built from scratch with their bare hands, rarely does 6 months go by without a headline appearing in the newspaper detailing the horrific death of some brilliant young student at the hands of the locals.
I can’t fathom any wealthy father sending their kids there, the campus is beautiful and the accademics are excellent but you are playing russian roulette every time you step off campus. If you must, send you kids to NYU instead, Greenwich village is um well probably the most ragingly homosexual neighborhood on the face of the earth, but you are highly unlikely to be murdered there.

However, consider that even the New York Post has a an irregular feature with a picture of a handgun with the caption: “The Gun Menace,” (Last time I saw it was accompanying some story about guns from other states.) and they are supposedly the alleged contra-New York Times.
New Yorkers eat and breath the brain damage of gun control every waking minute.
It would be a miracle if the US Supreme Court overturned Washington, DC’s gun ban. I think it will be an extremely narrow interpretation designed to allow NYC and Chicago to keep their gun bans. Yes, El Presidente’ Bush’s Administration argued FOR the DC gun ban.
So, let’s face it, the student was essentially a victim of the gun control industry that denies ALL culpability in the helplessness of their victims to diversity!

That’s funny because I was on a travel forum and was talking with some europeans who were planning a visit to a large city in the US and one of the questions they asked was about safety. I gave them the usual advice but told them to totally avoid black neighborhoods or areas with large numbers of black because crime rates there were much higher. Well my advice never got printed. I was banned from the travel forum(a mainstream one) because of my “racism.” They would rather european visitors be put at a much greater risk of crime rather than have the truth be told. Unfortunately for this woman and all white women in NYC, they are not only indoctrinated into an unrealistic” blacks are like anyone else” mentality, but they are legally unable to purchase guns for any reason. Remember the mayor of their city is the billionare, Bloomberg, who wants to make his name on the national stage as an anti-gun crusader. There are two guilty parties in this crime in addition to the perp, viz. the blind culture of the MSM and their elite friends who preach lies about race constantly and the officials of the NYC government who have forcibly disarmed its citizens. Those same officials are either permitted to carry handguns or are, like the anti-gun mayor, are constantly surrounded by armed security details.
As another poster has stated, there are between 2.1 and 2.5 million defensive handgun uses in the US yearly, the majority of which do not involve the firing of even one shot as simply brandishing the weapon is usually effective. Thus, far more crimes are stopped by ordinary citizens with guns than by all the police in the country. Such defensive uses of guns are very rare in areas of the country like NYC where possession of guns by the general population is criminalized. Given the reality of inter-racial crime as detailed in Jared’s The Color of Crime, such anti-gun policies serve merely to protect non-white(primarily young male blacks as in this case) violent criminals who prey on whites.
This case reminds me of the case of the group of young black males who assaulted and raped a white women jogger in central park some years ago. In that case, the so-called “black community” rose up to defend the actions of their black brothers and actually had the gall to verbally attack the victim, shouting insults at her when she appeared in court. Clearly such behavior by whites would never be imagined, much less tolerated, defended and encouraged but that is but one more example of the current racial double standard to be found everywhere in our country.
It is difficult to account for such pervasive anti-white violence. There is the culture of black victimization, of course, but is this sufficient to explain such brutal behavior? I am reminded of the presentation at the last AR conference concerning “the African Mind” which may well help to explain such behavior. If it is permissible to make an analogy between black Africans and American blacks, which I believe it is, then we must realize that American blacks, like their sub-Saharan counterparts simply lack self-consciousness and are unable to understand abstract concepts such as empathy and justice. They will do whatever they desire unless there is some authority clearly present to stop them. As they have no real concept of the future or of the past, they live in an eternal present. Certainly an essential part of what it means to be human is to possess self-consciousness and to have abstract concepts. I leave it to readers to draw their own conclusions on this score.
However, the concept of justice demands that this criminal receive at a minimum the death penalty because of the nature of his crime. In fact, justice would require that he suffer at least as much as the suffering that he caused. As this is unlikely to happen in our spineless culture, the only rational penalty is death. Anything less, is merely an encouragement to further like violence.
My advice for whites, especially white women is simple: do not live in areas of the country which make self defense a crime and which contain numerous blacks or other minorities(unless they are Asian). The police are not intended to protect you. They are merely historians and have no legal duty to stop crime. You are the only one who has the power to defend yourself but to do so you must possess a gun and know how and be willing to use it. If you ignore this advice, you are opening yourself up to exactly the kind of violence that the poor white victim suffered here. While I certainly do not wish to appear to be blaming the victim here, for I am not, I am blaming the elites in the society in which she happened to live for tolerating the anti-white racial crime wave which is so prevalent today while at the same time making its victims defenseless.

I feel for the poor white woman. Yes, other(race) people commit crimes too but the blacks are especially proliferous, murderous,and dangerous in their criminal activity. Look at Africa.
Why doesn’t CU ban all blacks from campus, this is a rational response to protect their students. I think this is reasonable to do in light of how crime stats show who is most likely to harm others. Blacks should only associate with blacks, our crime was very low before the blacks rampage and most other races are fairly manageable. Asians are even lower risk than whites for crimes, so less of a headache. Don’t let the criminal blacks mix with other law abiding groups of people.

This woman is much luckier than the two other grad students attacked within the past two years in Harlem. One was being robbed at 125 St & Park Ave after getting off a subway from downtown. He was chased into traffic, hit & killed by a car as the YOUTHS were yelling get the White Boy. The other happened this past spring about a mile away, a Columbia Grad Student was also being robbed on the street and met the same fate. The only difference was that he was Chinese.Yet not a word of outrage from the Mayor, Police Commissioner, or DA in any of these three cases. Can anyone speculate why?

We had a case like this where I used to live, Akron, OH. In fact I think it was several a year. A woman this happened to came to speak at our school. She was tortured, tied up, her house was set on fire and she was left to die. She was rescued but she was left permanently blind. She even asked us if we would write the parole board to ask that he not be let out. It was never discussed but I’m almost certain the assailant was black.

No, I said (at 10:30pm, June 9) she was psychologically disarmed by an Ivy League anti-racist education, which no doubt would teach her that any apprehension about moving to the Hamilton Heights part of Harlem was just a mean-spirited, racist fear. Her decision to live there brought her into contact with the type of underclass black male she might have not come into contact with if she had just listened to the alarm bells that go off in the minds of people who haven’t been conditioned by anti-racist indoctrination. But HOW MANY such “isolated” cases do we have to read or hear about… before being allowed form our opinions of Blacks? Seems to this reader, if we list ALL Black on White atrocities; all White on Black atrocities… including that Jasper dragging death… the B on W atrocities would probably outnumber the claimed White on Black crimes by about 100 to 1. And that’s giving Blacks the benefit of the doubt!!!

This story makes me sick. I hear stories like this all the time. For at least the past 20 years I’ve noticed the same type of story repreated. A horrific torture, murder, rape of an innocent young white girl by a sociopathic black thug. The national media never reports it. It makes me sick inside. It tears me up inside. 40,000 white women are raped by blacks every year in America. The blacks have done so much to destroy my people and my society, and amazingly, instead of the politicians doing something to solve the problem (like bringing back segregation) …. they investigate us? Racially aware whites who begin speaking out are routinely investigated by the FBI or can be fired from their jobs. Whites are made to be silent. It all makes me sick inside. I think the reason this reptile didnt show up in court was because he knew what the reaction would be from those present in the court room. It was only to save himself from consternation. He knows he will be in jail for life, he knows what he did. He might show up with a black preacher or two for sentencing and see how much white guilt he can reap by claiming racism… somehow. Who knows, this is New York. He might be able to have the victim pay for cleaning her blood from his designer-knockoff clothes.

How could this be wrong?. Our white sisters have systematically voted to:
-Disarm their white brother
-Criminalize self defense
-Swiftly reattribute their white brother if he doesn’t tow the PC line at work or school.
-Destroy Western Culture
-Wreck the traditional family
White women are a huge voting block in this country, and our society today is a reflection of their own selfishness and disregard for their white brother; the nanny super state.
As far as white liberal men are concerned, there are far fewer of them than liberal women. These liberal men are also a product of the voting habits of women.

The judge DID have to force him to go to trial today. The student newspaper Columbia Spectator has a good daily blog on the trial that is updated every few hours while the trial is going on. That’s a good way to get news on it b/c the MSM sure isn’t covering it. Nor is the NY Times. The NY Daily News does have good coverage of it.

Black men are particularly arrogant now towards white women. It is as though they have declared open season on us. Even if they do not intend to rape and leave you for dead, their impropriety in approaching white women (even older married ones such as myself) is disgusting.
Bells go off whenever I am approached by one. I have deliberately begun to ignore them; if I pass one on the street and I get the usual “awright’ greeting, I just look at them and keep walking. I want them to know I saw their face but I chose to ignore them.
I cannot imagine any white to be so naive as to live in Harlem anyway, but what ever happened to that warning inner voice known as intuition? Shouldn’t it be telling them to be hyper-vigilant?? It is as though these people have lost their ability to discern dangerous situations, driven much in part by the liberal multiculti nonsense we are bombarded with on a daily basis.
Several weeks ago, another poster recommended the book “The Gift of Fear” by Gavin de Becker. An excellent read. Too bad the co-ed didn’t read it; it could have saved her so much suffering and agony.

My daughters and wife are all familiar with firearms.
My daughters are not shy about letting their schoolmates know that they know how to shoot.
Needless to say this discourages low lifes and non-whites from bothering them.
They have been taught to be careful and not care whose “feelings” they may hurt in protecting themselves.

This is a good attitude… provided they don’t live in a gun control area. IF you talk about this where gun ownership is akin to being the spawn of Satan, what WILL happen is that the police will receive the proverbial “anonymous tip” that will result in the police breaking down your door looking for “crime guns.”
Use descretion and deception: talk about how you have MACE/Tear Gas/Pepper Spray/Taser/Baseball Bat. But don’t talk about the AR-15 in the closet, the Glock under the pillow or the Charter Arms .38 in the dressing room drawer.

You sit around drinking your glass of wine in front of your flat screen tv and love to pat yourself on the back about how wonderfully tolerant you are.You wouldn’t dream of sending your kids to a half black school or living in a black neighborhood but you love to make accusations of racism against “working class whites” who must do so and who have to put up with the reality of crime and such, something YOU would never do. The truth is working class whites aren’t racist, they are realists and get their views through experience up close and personal. If not a yuppie, you are some sheltered, naive idealistic college student who has yet to experience the “real world.”

He’s a monster, I don’t know if it’s because he’s black. Ted Bundy tortured too and he was white, fairly affluent. These people are monsters. He should die. My heart goes out to the victim, regardless of whether she should’ve had warning bells go off, etc. No one deserves this. Can you imagine what her life is going to be like from that moment on? I don’t know, sometimes I think that if something like this ever happened to me, I’d just…I’d be happier if I just died. Bless her and I hope he gets murdered in prison. It resolves in me to get a gun and to teach my children how to shoot.

This is horrible. I wish that I hadn’t read this article. However, my boyfriend has been telling me that I need to get a concealed carry permit and a handgun for protection. I do have to work late at night sometimes and travel long distances which being a woman, has always made me a little nervous. I have always known of course that crime exists. However reading this pushed me over the edge and I’m getting my permit and my gun. Too bad this poor woman didn’t have a gun.

Foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California are still very White if you want to relocate. There are virtually no Blacks here, there is little violent crime or crime period. There are some Hispanics moving in but it’s still manageable.
