Kilpatrick Enacts Policy to Limit Access to the City’s Text Messages

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has implemented a new policy governing the city’s electronic communications system that exempts text messages from being considered city property and from prohibitions on certain types of messages.
Previous city policy stated that all messages sent via the city’s electronic communications system were city property, a policy that gained interest after revelations that Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff exchanged damaging text messages showing they lied under oath during a whistle-blower trial. {snip}
The new policy, obtained by the Free Press, took effect April 15 through a directive signed by Kilpatrick.
“This policy does not include telephones, text messaging devices and pagers, which are given to employees for their personal and business use,” the policy says. “State and federal laws protect communications made over telephone lines and through the use of messaging devices.”
Kilpatrick’s criminal defense attorneys, representing him in the eight felony charges that stemmed from the text message scandal, have argued the messages never should have been released by the provider, SkyTel, to the plaintiff’s attorney in the whistle-blower case because of state and federal laws.

So when are regular texting users going to demand The Phone Company (TPC*) start RESPECTING the privacy concerns of their subscribers and STOP storing the text messages for government agencies?

Sounds like to me that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatick has taken a clue bus ticket from North Carolina Governor Mike Easley, namely that email between state officials and constituents as well as intra-official electronic text communications are NOT matters of public record. Thanks for letting me know that Mike Easley is North Carolina’s first black governor.

Excuse me but are these devices city owned? There is no expectation of privacy when using them. Nor should they be used for personal reasons. This guy is an idiot.
Nor will he go away. He will run for national office representing a majority black district in Michigan. The amazing thing is that he will win! That goes to the intelligence of the average black.

It’s remarkable how closely black-run local and state governments resemble their African counterparts. Both are rife with absurdly audacious corruption, outright criminality, and tribal favoritism.
From Robert Mugabe, Detroit Kwame, Idi Amin, Wilson “Bad Wilson” Goode, John Street, etc, the behavior of these cartoonish black political figures maintains an eerie consistency, wherever they’re found. At least white-run political corruption in America shows some tasteful restraint and stammering embarrassment when discovered.
Black political corruption is characterized by an entertainingly risible level of sheer buffoonery found nowhere else in human attempts at governance.

Let me add that this brazen lack of shame may be linked to a lower overall level of consciousness among blacks. I’ve been reading the classic book “The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind” by Julian Jaynes. While I’m certain that he’s mistaken on some counts, one underlying premise (which seems well founded) is that the Human mind continues to evolve and that we don’t all share the same level of consciousness. The level of corruption (and lack of shame when caught) displayed by black leaders (and the support they enjoy from their subjects) is a powerful indication that we’re dealing with a totally different mentality. The same could be said about other groups of course - but here we’re talking about blacks.
