An Illinois delegate for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama resigned after using the word “monkeys” to describe black children playing in a tree, the Obama campaign said Tuesday.
Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski, a trustee in the Chicago suburb of Carpentersville, was issued a $75 ticket for disorderly conduct after neighbors complained to police. She says the word wasn’t meant racially and she will fight the ticket.
{snip}
The incident occurred Saturday, when two children were playing in a tree next door to Ramirez-Sliwinski’s house.
She said the parents were outside supervising the children, but she went over and told them to get out of the tree because she was concerned about the boys’ safety and because the small magnolia tree was being damaged.
The father of one of the boys told her it was none of her business, she told the Chicago Tribune, and “I calmly said the tree is not there for them to be climbing in there like monkeys.”
The mother of one boy called police.
Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said Tuesday a ticket was issued because the ordinance bans conduct that disturbs or alarms people. One of the boys told police he was scared by her comment and a mother said she was disturbed, he said.

Conduct that disturbs or alarms people? Under those guidelines I could have retired a millionaire after 6 years in public schools intergrated by forces busing due to comments from our black brothers and sisters.

If she didn’t use the term ‘monkey’, they would have got her for using the word ‘tree’. Black people have been lynched from them you know.

“One of the boys told police he was scared by her comment and a mother said she was disturbed, he said.”
Yep, she does indeed sound disturbed. As for the boy? Maybe years and years of counseling can save this poor kid….Will this insanity ever end?
And the beat goes on.

“Disorderly conduct”??? It sounds like a citation for “disorderly speech.”
Another example how the quasi-state religious cult of “diversity” and “anti-racism” destroys basic American freedoms.
We can either live in freedom or we can live in “diversity.” We can’t do both, and we had better make our choice known soon….because this article shows that it’s being made for us without our participation or consent.

“An Illinois delegate for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama resigned after using the word “monkeys” to describe black children playing in a tree, the Obama campaign said Tuesday.”
Well, here it is. There’s absolutely no doubt about it now. By their own admission, black people think of themselves as similar to monkeys.
Call white kids monkeys and you’ll get no complaints. It will be thought of as no more than an affectionate term or just a bit of cute teasing. To a lesser degree, other races will more than likely not take offense either, with, perhaps, only a few exceptions.
But mention the “M” word where blacks are involved and it will be the same as uttering the “N” word. Besides denigrating themselves by taking offense, blacks leave themselves open to targets for a lot of insults by people who purposely want to raise their ire.
But by complaining so heavily and so loudly they’re giving validity to the insult.

So why wasn’t a ticket issued for the disturbing behavior of destroying the tree which thereby takes away from the beauty of a neighborhood? I have been in situations where any use of the term monkey has upset black people, but the fact is monkees do climb trees so the analogy is not a racial remark per se. Destroying public property however is an actual offense. The officers behavior alarms me, therefor he should be ticketed.
Posted by NorthAmericanWhiteMan at 6:15 PM on April 9
I hope this woman does not pay the ticket. She should go to court and fight for her freedom of speech. This ordinance is stupid. You do not make laws the violation of which may disturb someone. If that were the case we would not be able to say anything in public.
As to Obamaa asking her to bow out, what do you expect?
Posted by Frank at 6:38 PM on April 9
“the ordinance bans conduct that disturbs or alarms people”
Couldn’t she claim that she was disturbed and/or alarmed by the children’s playing in the tree? They risked hurting both it and themselves. That’s farfetched, but hardly more so than the complaint she was ticketed for.

This is absolutely one of the most stupid things I have read about. If blacks are that insecure, they need to have some mental medical treatments ASAP! This is totally asinine!

Ramirez-Slewinski is getting a foretaste of life in Obama’s America. Drink the Kool-aid lady, you asked for it.

Anybody who’s still under the illusion that there’s no such thing as a racial double-standard when it comes to ‘free speech’ in America is deluding themselves. As long as some ‘perpetually oppressed’ minority professional ‘victim’ is ‘offended’ or ‘uncomfortable’ about whatever they want to be ‘offended’ by, you’ll be nailed. ‘Hate crime,’ ‘hate speech,’ ‘hate thoughts’ are meant to be used against only one single group in America — straight, white, conservative, Christian and Jewish males — period. Everybody else can
think, say and do whatever the hell they want and get a free pass. There are hundreds of thousands of stories like the one below. This is just today’s entry.
Remember America the way it used to be? Too bad — she died in the mid-sixties.
George Orwell is smirking somewhere up there…

I would fight the ticket, too. Maybe she’ll learn her lesson about black loyalty. Being an Obama delegate, there’s a fighting chance she is also a clueless tool.

Oh my god.
ALL mothers use that expression - saying “he’s my little monkey” or “he climbs like a monkey” or “she swims like a fish” etc.
So this woman (who WORKS FOR BARACK OBAMA) gets called a racist for using a common expression!
Further, what’s up with this law in Chicago that bans “conduct that disturbs or alarms people”? Sounds pretty vague to me…
Posted by at 7:17 PM on April 9
How stupid! I guess that blacks dont understand the concept of a metaphone. In other words she said the kids were climbing the tree like monkeys. She did not call them monkeys.
Posted by Spartan24 at 7:23 PM on April 9
Hmmm, now what has 2 legs, 2 arms, a head and torso, can sort of walk upright, and climbs in trees?
Seriously, you have to love the double standard. If you call white kids in trees monkeys, your being accurate, if you call black kids in trees monkeys, your being too accurate?
Posted by at 7:30 PM on April 9
And blacks wonder why we Whites want nothing to do with them? They call us cracker, honkie, etc. and then complain when we use non-discriminatory terms about their behavior! It’s best to have as little as possible to do with minorities.
Posted by enoughalready at 7:40 PM on April 9
We need to abolish qualified immunity for police officers. The cop should be charged for the arrest. If he believes that there is a law that forbids all ways of disturbing people, he should not be a police officer. They will keep ignoring the law and arresting whomever they wish, or whomever their higher echelon commanders wish if we do not hold them accountable. Ignorance of the law is not a worthy excuse.
Posted by Qaaul at 7:51 PM on April 9
Wow, that is so scary she said stop playing like monkeys. Notice she didn’t say they were monkeys, she said they were acting like monkeys. What are we coming to in the U.S. when saying that is now a crime? I remember growing up being told not to act like this or that animal and it never scared me lol.
Posted by Joseph at 8:04 PM on April 9
Yes, the mother was disturbed all right…..mentally disturbed!
And now what are we supposed to call the monkeys? I would never insult a monkey by calling it an african-american.

“Michael Kilbourne said Tuesday a ticket was issued because the ordinance bans conduct that disturbs or alarms people.”
If that’s actually what the ordinance says, it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Apart from restricting freedom of speech… a person can be “disturbed” or “alarmed” by anything.
Posted by at 8:22 PM on April 9
I’m disturbed and scared and scarred whenever I hear the terms: gringo, whitey, honkey, cracker, white bread and whatever else they call us white people.
Is it time for the Revolution now?
Actually, I’m quite surprised she wasn’t arrested.

With Barack Obama as President of the U.S. this sort of thing is only going to get worse. Blacks - when they have another Black in power - become emboldened to do what they do best. When Obama gets elected, the crime rate against Whites is going to go through the roof. We’re headed for much harder times in the next 4 or 5 years so get ready folks. Get ready for more Black on White rapes, attacks, murders, riots, etc. And of course it will be the fault of White people. Who else could it be but those evil blue-eyed devils?
Posted by Awakened at 8:58 PM on April 9
Just imagine the madness that will take over this country if Obama wins the presidency.
And remember, over the next 10 years the majority of the baby boomers will retire from senior level government and corporate positions.
They will be disproportionately replaced by minorities.
Posted by at 9:13 PM on April 9
Such an ordinance is certainly unconstitutional because it’s vague and violates the first amendment. If the kids were white, would she still have gotten the ticket? No? That disturbs and alarms me. Will she think twice about supporting Obama? Fat chance.
Posted by jewamongyou at 9:25 PM on April 9
This only shows that they themselves think they look like monkeys. If they don’t think they look like monkeys, they would’nt have been offended
Posted by Tom S at 10:09 PM on April 9
Should she have said “stop acting like little wild indians”? The list of things that white people are not allowed to say just keeps getting longer, while the penalties increase even faster.

Didn’t Howard Cosell catch some heat a few years back on Monday Night Football for calling a black football player a “little monkey?” Cosell, an avowed liberal and great friend to Muhammad Ali, was stunned to receive criticism from the black community. Cosell left MNF after that year, but was retained for other sports broadcasting. Of course, those were the days before Don Imus, and no pound of flesh needed to be extracted…

I have to disagree wih everyone. I think the lady was wrong to get involved in family matters of others. These were not her children and it was not her tree so why was she involved. It was none of her business.
If she thought it was impotant then she should have contacted the local police or the apartment manager.
That’s the problem with liberals, they want to tell everyone how to live. I wouldn’t let some Black woman tell me how to take care of my children. I would tell her to bugger off. She is lucky she didn’t get her head stomped. A white woman should leave Blacks alone.
Years ago I learned that most blacks like red necks like me better than white liberals because we don’t normally get involved in their problems, we don’t care. Fot the most part we to not try to tell them how to raise their families and we don’t give a darn if they fall out of trees. It’s not our problem.
We try to take care of our own people and let them do the same. There is a certain amount of respect for this type of behavior.
If you don’t hang around Blacks you don’t have to watch what you say.

There was a movie a few years ago that was titled; “Rugrats” and it was for children.
Oh! The horror! Think of the children’s self-esteem!
The adults I knew when I was growing up referred to us, when we were acting out of control, as “little farts”. The sentence, shouted firmly with “the look” was, “sit down and be quiet you little farts!” This effectively kept us from destroying the household with our aggresive playing.
After all these years, I still feel so wounded by that early label! Got to call a therapist quick, and then my congressman so he can make legislation preventing such a thing happening to other children. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
To think that anyone would take this woman’s comment as injurious is beyond belief. Then again, these are Democrats - and black ones at that.

Laws like these are the norm here in Canada, so don’t worry, you too will become accustomed to the absurdity. Who knows, maybe this woman thought she was immune to the, “racist”, accusation because she worked for Obama.
Posted by Louis from Montreal at 10:25 AM on April 10
I see that the country has already degenerated into fascist repression. The woman was arrested by the police for her WORDS.
I’m scared by roving bands of angry thugs who roam about terrorizing innocent White people. Can I call the police and have them “ticketed”?

“This only shows that they themselves think they look like monkeys. If they don’t think they look like monkeys, they would’nt have been offended”
Exactly. The biggest problem in the relationships between blacks and whites is not white or black racism. It is the constant feeling of inferiority complex blacks feel towards whites just in their presence. It does not matter if blacks end up ruling the world (unlikely) and whites are reduced to a slave race, they will still have feelings of inferiority with respect to whites and up to a lower extent with respect to the other races. Even if a black guy acts rudely towards you rest assured he has deep pangs of inferiority feelings in his chest. It may even be subconscious. They have been unable to accept the fact that they are born black. That is the root of all black hatred and racism. Eventually the only solution to the problem will be isolating blacks from all the other races.

All kidding aside (sort of) she did have it coming. She is part of the entire Enabling Apparatus of the Liberal/Left/Neocon Leviathan that is choking the spirit of mankind to death in the West.
Enabling Non-Whites, especially Blacks, is entirely negative. Morally it is making them more depraved; Intellectually it’s making them dumber, Psychologically it’ making them weaker.
I have come to the conclusion that there is NO defending Blacks without attacking the Mind.
For me, the Mind is more important. Americans, and Westerners already have a good idea of what life is like without one. The result is what we have today, a Politically Correct Police State.

This reminds me of that old Led Zeppelin song, “Hats Off To (Roy) Harper”:
Well I ain’t no monkey. I can’t climb no tree,
No brown skin woman gonna make no monkey out of me,
I ain’t no monkey, Sure can’t climb no tree,
I been mistreated babe I believe I’ll shake ‘em on down,
Well I’ve been mistreated babe I believe I’ll shake ‘em on down.

A magnolia tree was involved and the kids were damaging it. Who owned the tree? The real issue is property damage and liability for potential injuries to the kids.
Adults called me things worse than “monkey” when I was young, the few times I did something a little out of line. I got yelled at for walking on a fence between my house and our neighbors by the male head of the household. I was pretty much being a boy with a great sense of balance. I assume he was concerned that I would get hurt if I fell into his yard and he didn’t want any part of that.

Like sagging pants, wretched parenting, damage to property and loud hip-hop?
Or is this one of those laws specifically designed to abet aggrieved minorities running crudely designed shake-down operations?

Howard Cosell used “That little Monkey” as a term of endearment. They showed a video of him using that phrase for his grandchildren before he said it to the Black wide receiver on the Redskins. He was getting up there in age and just blurted it out on Monday Night Football in 1983.

Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski’s first mistake: butting her nose in something that was none of her business. Unless it was a tree on her property, she had no business interfering.
Her second mistake? Believing you can reason with blacks or have any form of rational conversation. Another liberal gets their comeuppance.
Chicago is apparently way ahead of the curve in terms of becoming a fascist state.
Welcome to the former United States now known as the Socialist Obamanation.

The only people I have heard referring to blacks as “monkeys” are other blacks!
Two black women I have worked with over the years (one light skinned and the other dark skinned) have referred to women they didn’t like, who happened to be quite dark skinned, as looking like monkeys or gorillas. They seemed to think they were being quite funny when saying it too.
When reading about descrimination among blacks themselves, based on skin color, dark skinned african immigrant blacks would talk about being teased and referred to as “monkeys” by their american black schoolmates.

I am going to start calling the Police every time a black honks a horn in a car. I take it that the horn honking is just another way of saying “move out of the way honkie”! And that disturbs me!

Violet:
Along those same lines, I almost hear the n-word being used about blacks in public exclusively by other blacks. Last week, I overheard two black women talking to each other about the grocery stores they patronize. They both agreed that they didn’t go to the one nearest to their residences (which happens to be the same store location), and one said the reason was “too many n*****s,” and the other “mmm-hmmmed” in approval.

Stephanie at 8.25pm on April 9.. I, as an Englishman, understand the most of phrases you quote by black africans insulting White people, except one.. ‘crackers’.. and perhaps you would be so kind as to explain it to me. Around 60 years ago in all-white Yorkshire, England, it was quite normal for adults to refer to mischievous children as ‘little monkeys’. I don’t believe this was in any way connected to black africans, and, in any case, we never saw, met or knew any. Those were the ‘good old days’. Sadly, Yorkshire if now overrun by mosques, drug addicts, shop-lifters, litter and graffiti. I would ride my bicycle for miles and never had need for a chain and lock.. who would take it? I would hang my raincoat in the school cloakroom on arrival and find it there, dripped dry, warm and ready to wear to go home at the end of the day. All our school clothes had name tapes sewn in by our mothers. If any child arrived home with anothers togs, these would be returned, next schoolday, neatly washed and ironed, bearing a note apologising for the error. But this was White Christian England and just following WW2, when times were tough, food and clothing were rationed but moral and social values fully respected. So, yes, I am just another old bugger who claims that ‘times were better in the old days’. Perhaps I am wrong, but when I see daily news reports about stabbings, shootings, muggings, trials of those who would kill me without a moments hesitation because I, and others like me, welcomed their grandparents into our country to make a better life for themselves and their children, then I feel very aggrieved and I wish they would all go ‘home’, for England is obviously not their chosen land.
